Another animation

Hi, thank you for putting my machinima in Portal:Animation/Selected picture/55. I am still not clear on the purpose of 'selected pictures' on that page. I made another one that you may be interested in: File:CGI Machinima sample film.ogg. I may have to upload it again with no sound track or a different one. I found the soundtrack on a site containing public domain mp3s months/years ago. I misplaced the link to the site although I still have a record of the artists (see talk page for file). The song was written in 1882 and has no copyright today, but I should find the PD permission to the recording I used before I can move it to commons.--Canoe1967 (talk) 17:26, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Title-card-Mgpam.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Title-card-Mgpam.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Coordinator sought for the US National Archives WikiProject

Greetings, WikiProject US National Archives member!

We are seeking a coordinator to help reboot the project and work on new initiatives! The role is modeled after other Wikiproject coordinators, like the WikiProject Military History coordinators. The coordinator will work with the Wikipedian in Residence to organize and increase participation in the WikiProject, with the goal that the WikiProject is an active space for collaboration maintained by and for the Wikipedia editors, rather than the National Archives.

Please see the full information at Wikipedia:GLAM/NARA/Coordinator and contact me is you have any questions. Feel free to pass this note along to any interested parties. Thanks! Dominic·t 21:04, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject TV

Don't know where to talk to so hopefully I'm not intruding. Since it's inactive, I happen to be pretty much the only one (I'm not sure if the other editors on WikiSeinfeld is still active) still working on it and keeping an eye on it. Since there's little choice, I'm going to allow the merge since having more editors is better than less. The only condition is I need help with the Production section so any helpers would be appreciated. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 10:09, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Portals

I'm a bit confused as to this edit [1] - the information is under the {{USRD}} tag already. --Rschen7754 06:33, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I remove some of it from the {{WikiProject United States}} banner, because I thought I added with |portal1-name= and |portal1-link= since Interstate 68 has been added to the Selected location on the United States portal, along with West Virginia portal. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 07:05, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed that you added I-15 in AZ to the portal. We had decided as a group to select four articles to represent the four regions of the country (Northeast, South, West and Midwest) with the added benefit that we had an Interstate, a US Highway, a State Highway and a County Road, all FAs. I'm not opposed to I-15 being listed, but we might want to pick another Midwestern article (U.S. Route 30 in Iowa, a US Highway and part of the Lincoln Highway, one of the auto trails), and maybe something else from the South and the Northeast. Maybe U.S. Route 40 Alternate (Keysers Ridge–Cumberland, Maryland) for a special route out of the south. Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of non-NY choices from the Northeast for FAs, but there is [[State Route 74 (New York–Vermont)] or we could do the A-Class Atlantic City–Brigantine Connector out of New Jersey. (There are two other state highways with A-Class articles from PA and NJ, but I haven't looked to see if they're up to modern standards.) Imzadi 1979  16:06, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Really?

Really? Start-class for the BrickFair article? I put good effort into it, it well summarizes the event and isn't too long, has good refs, and is well-cited too. ɱ 01:37, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

I realise the sandbox is just for experimentation but just in case it is a prerequisite for editing the main template, what is intended with additional needs-image hook? The image-needed code in the template is already complex and takes some keeping in hand. Do we really need more options here? --Traveler100 (talk) 06:50, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I added to sandbox of the {{WikiProject Montana}} banner using with the image needed hook of the {{WPBannerMeta}}, but it didn't work on the testcases, along with the {{WikiProject United States}} banner which I've also added. JJ98 (Talk / Contribs) 07:01, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Future-Class United States articles

Greetings JJ98, I noticed you created a new Category for Future Class United States articles. I wonder if thats needed though. Do you have something in mind that would require this? Kumioko (talk) 19:22, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As a non-member of WikiProject United States, I have no problem with that. Unfortunately, I can't edit class since it is protected. Just for future presidential and senate elections, look at United States Senate elections, 2012 and United States House of Representatives elections, 2012 for example. JJ98 (Talk / Contribs) 21:54, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Collaboration parameters for Template:WikiProject United States

I need to do a couple of tweaks to the logic of the template and noticed you added parameters for the collaboration. Are you done or are you still working on it? I don't want to mess you up. Kumioko (talk) 23:51, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm done for right now, I was going to create a category for previous and current collaborations from the United States Collaboration of the Month which had been inactive for 5 months. JJ98 (Talk / Contribs) 00:01, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, thanks. Once the template changes are implemented I'll convert the articles over and then I will delete the old Collab templates. We probably should have done that a long time ago. Kumioko (talk) 00:04, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, I am going have to move from U.S. Wikipedians' notice board to the WikiProject United States since the notice board is no longer active. JJ98 (Talk / Contribs) 04:18, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings JJ. I noticed you were doing some work on the template and the supporting documentation. Thanks for all that. One question though. I was trying to determine what you were attempting to do in the sandbox and I couldn't tell if you were just testing some things over or had a specific goal. I wouldn't suggest implementing the code with the highlighted importance myself but if you think its better we can discuss it on the projects page and see what the group thinks. Again, I wasn't quite sure what the desired outcome was so I thought I would just stop and ask. Kumioko (talk) 00:20, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I tried to add small parameter for portals on taskforce template of the banner which WOSlinker (talk · contribs) did, but it did not work out on testcases, but I've enabled some of the your supported projects with Template:WikiProject United States/taskforce and small parameters, like which I've did for {{WikiProject Animation}} banner. As for the documentation, I've added some of it using with {{WPBannerDoc}} template for use for project banners which Redrose64 (talk · contribs) created it. JJ98 (Talk / Contribs) 00:38, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WP:TEL touchups

A few days you did some corrections to some new WP:TEL categories. I'm wondering whether you know what else I might have done wrong in adding an |importance= parameter to {{WikiProject Telecommunications}}. Importance is not yet appearing in the summary --Kvng (talk) 16:21, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Its the WP 1.0 bot (talk · contribs) that its not updating any importance ratings, plus I can't do any updates for the bot because "update project data" is disabled. Animation redirects

JJ98, thank you for all the work that you've done, specifically for {{WikiProject Animation}}. However, I noticed that you have been creating talk pages for a large number of redirects, and adding them to the project. The Redirect-Class should be used primarily for links that were once articles, because they are are now redirected to other articles. While I applaud your intentions, it is not necessary to add EVERY SINGLE redirect to the project, especially for links that are just multiple variations in spelling. Please consider redirecting these pages to the appropriate talk pages, instead of needlessly adding wikiproject banners to talk pages, for redirects that are unlikely to become articles or be discussed separately. Thanks! Fortdj33 (talk) 17:04, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment for WP:Judaism?

Hi, I noticed you tagged Messianic Judaism as High for both WP:Judaism and Jewish history. Might I ask how you came up with those assessments? From my understanding, MJ'ism doesn't have much to do with Judaism or Jewish history. Maybe I'm misunderstanding project assessments? Cheers... Zad68 19:38, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the late reply. Just because there is some connections between Christianity and Judaism. There is WikiProject Jewish Christianity which is currently supported on the {{WikiProject Christianity}} project banner so that Jewish Christianity-related articles can be assessed. Orphaned non-free media (File:Lok Satta Party Election Symbol.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Lok Satta Party Election Symbol.jpg.

You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. WikiCup 2013 February newsletter

Round 1 is now over. The top 64 scorers have progressed to round 2, where they have been randomly split into eight pools of eight. At the end of April, the top two from each pool, as well as the 16 highest scorers from those remaining, will progress to round 3. Commiserations to those eliminated; if you're interested in still being involved in the WikiCup, able and willing reviewers will always be needed, and if you're interested in getting involved with other collaborative projects, take a look at the WikiWomen's Month discussed below.

Round 1 saw 21 competitors with over 100 points, which is fantastic; that suggests that this year's competition is going to be highly competative. Our lower scores indicate this, too: A score of 19 was required to reach round 2, which was significantly higher than the 11 points required in 2012 and 8 points required in 2011. The score needed to reach round 3 will be higher, and may depend on pool groupings. In 2011, 41 points secured a round 3 place, while in 2012, 65 was needed. Our top three scorers in round 1 were:

  1. Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), primarily for an array of warship GAs.
  2. London Miyagawa (submissions), primarily for an array of did you knows and good articles, some of which were awarded bonus points.
  3. New South Wales Casliber (submissions), due in no small part to Canis Minor, a featured article awarded a total of 340 points. A joint submission with Alaska Keilana (submissions), this is the highest scoring single article yet submitted in this year's competition.

Other contributors of note include:

Featured topics have still played no part in this year's competition, but once again, a curious contribution has been offered by British Empire The C of E (submissions): did you know that there is a Shit Brook in Shropshire? With April Fools' Day during the next round, there will probably be a good chance of more unusual articles...

March sees the WikiWomen's History Month, a series of collaborative efforts to aid the women's history WikiProject to coincide with Women's History Month and International Women's Day. A number of WikiCup participants have already started to take part. The project has a to-do list of articles needing work on the topic of women's history. Those interested in helping out with the project can find articles in need of attention there, or, alternatively, add articles to the list. Those interested in collaborating on articles on women's history are also welcome to use the WikiCup talk page to find others willing to lend a helping hand. Another collaboration currently running is an an effort from WikiCup participants to coordinate a number of Easter-themed did you know articles. Contributions are welcome!

A few final administrative issues. From now on, submission pages will need only a link to the article and a link to the nomination page, or, in the case of good article reviews, a link to the review only. See your submissions' page for details. This will hopefully make updating submission pages a little less tedious. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. No problem. Please keep in mind that most the articles left unassessed start with the word "The", therefore they should have the |listas= parameter on the {{WikiProject Film}} banner, so that they are sorted by the second word of the title instead. Fortdj33 (talk) 18:00, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Apple Inc.

I note you changed the priority/importance of this article to the SFBA project. I have been editing the assessments for a while, and still am not quite sure about what constitutes top, high, mid for some articles. can you tell me why you feel its a high, not top priority? I didnt change it from high to top myself, and I dont really doubt you are correct, but id like to hear why, so my future assessments are more accurate (i may even review all the top priority sfba articles and change some to high based on your thoughts).sincerely, Mercurywoodrose (talk) 03:05, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Since I rated high importance for WikiProject California, Apple Inc. had 503,883 views on the popular pages of the project, behind San Francisco 49ers and Google, YouTube and Facebook. I had rated Top importance for SFBA two or three months ago, but I dropped back to High importance, while I was assessing to low importance and removed some of the auto parameter from {{WikiProject Apple Inc.}}, since the this was automatically assessed by WikiProject Macintosh three years ago by Xenobot Mk V (talk · contribs) before renaming to WikiProject Apple Inc. This banner can be removed from the scope from the project if the WikiProject does not want it. Also, this importance parameter can be also removed if it does not want it. Check the project's assessment for information or check the banner's documentation on the WikiProject California. JJ98 (Talk) 04:31, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thats very careful observation of the articles relative importance. i may look at popular pages as well to get a better idea where some of the top and high import article rank. thanks, i thought there was a reason.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 03:18, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Robotics project assessment page

Hi

You recently edited the Robotics project assessment page. Can you tell me what prompted you to make those edits?

Unfortunately you added C class back into the mix, the robotics project has had a policy of not using C-class for articles and so I have reverted your edits. I would like to add examples, as you did, but would rather the project was at least consulted before such changes are made.

Thanks, in good faith - Chaosdruid (talk) 14:40, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the grading and importance scheme templates since there is a C-Class assessment for WikiProject Robotics, so it can be assessed if there is issues on the article. If you do not like the C-Class, I would remove it from class subpage of the project banner. JJ98 (Talk) 18:05, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reassessing articles

Jj, part of assessing articles for Wikiprojects is making sure the Wikiprojects on the page are relevant. Logic education is a redirect that was retargeted from a software program to Outline of Logic. Thus, Wikiproject computers and Wikiproject Apple were no longer relevant. I've replaced both with Wikiproject Philosophy. Ego White Tray (talk) 12:28, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Animation/Cartoon Network articles

Hello again! It appears that Cartoon Network articles are being moved to their own project, instead of just being a work group of {{WikiProject Animation}}. While I admire the work that you are doing with these articles, please don't just arbitrarily remove the Animation banner from them. I realize that {{WikiProject Cartoon Network}} covers more than just animation, but if the article is still animation-related, please just remove the Cartoon Network parameters, and add the Cartoon Network banner instead. Nicktoons articles

Hello again! Just as you did in moving Cartoon Network articles to their own project, it appears that you are now moving articles to {{WikiProject Nickelodeon}}, instead of them just being a work group of {{WikiProject Animation}}. Again, while I admire the work that you are doing with these articles, please don't just arbitrarily remove the Animation banner from them. If the article is still animation-related, please just remove the "|nicktoons=yes" parameter, and add the Nickelodeon banner instead. Thanks! Fortdj33 (talk) 23:39, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I barely just started moving some of the Nicktoons articles, along with the SpongeBob SquarePants articles from the Animation banner, since it had a GA, although its not quite very higher then Adventure Time since people don't really care for SpongeBob and Nickelodeon anymore since I've nominated Nicktoons for deletion and redirected to List of programs broadcast by Nickelodeon. Plus it would take me about two or three weeks to remove from the Animation and add to the Nickelodeon banner. JJ98 (Talk) 06:57, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Right, I'm just saying that for articles about Spongebob and other animated shows on Nickelodeon, it's not necessary for you to remove the Animation banner altogether. Please just remove the Nicktoons parameter, and replace it by adding the Nickelodeon banner. Fortdj33 (talk) 14:31, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm on it! JJ98 (Talk) 18:35, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Lok Satta Party Election Symbol.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

This image is used on the website listed, which lists all of its contents as subject to copyright. Unless evidence is presented otherwise, doesn't that, by default, make it a copyrighted image?

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. 120.56.132.244 (talk) 13:13, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2004 in animation, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Teletoon (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
