Current discussion on naming of San Diego neighborhoods
Hello, Jj98! I see that you are a participant in WikiProject:San Diego. There is a discussion currently going on which might be of interest to you. It concerns the naming style for San Diego neighborhoods. Currently most San Diego neighborhoods are named in the pattern Point Loma, San Diego, California. The primary proposal at the renaming discussion would change that name to Point Loma; the alternate proposal would change it to Point Loma, San Diego. --MelanieN (talk) 16:16, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject banners
Hi Jj98!
I am concerned that you seem to be making a lot of changes to WikiProject banners without any discussion. Normally it is better to discuss the changes with the relevant project because they may have set it up in a particular way to benefit their project.
Also, would you please leave a explanatory edit summary for your edits?
Thanks — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:27, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject Colorado
I notice you have been very active on WikiProject Colorado the last couple days. I was wondering if you were working on reviving it or if you were just doing some housecleaning? Since this project is inactive at the moment I was going to start rolling it up into WPUS as a subproject so that the articles still have some visibility. This would also allow the projects to share some things to reduce the time it takes to maintian WPColorado such as the WikiProject Banner, member and todo lists and bot tasks (such as article alerts, New article alertbot and others). This would also increase traffic and visibility for both I think. Would this be ok with you? --Kumioko (talk) 14:38, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

About the file you tagged for deletion...
I really wanted to have a vector version of that image, but nobody has done it so far. I'd use Inkscape to trace the file into an SVG vector file, but thanks to Campbellsville University student dean Josh Anderson, I can't use the computer labs until after I graduate, and I'm using an outdated computer. So, could you maybe convert the file into an SVG file, please? Thanks.
~~LDEJRuff~~(see what I have contributed) December 17, 2010, 22:19 (EDT)
- Maybe, this may take while to make a SVG file. Look LDEJ, I have to also to find possibly find a SVG version as so long it is not fan art. I would possibly find it at Brands of the World website to look Donald Duck image and convert from EPS to a SVG version. JJ98 (Talk) 09:47, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

TUGS as part of the animation project?
Hey John,
Just wondering, I noticed recently that you added the Animation WikiProject tag to TUGS. Does that really apply there? Just wanted to get your reasoning on it. Thanks for getting involved. --SteelersFanUK06 HereWeGo2010! 03:20, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
- As noted, I've have checked on Big Cartoon DataBase, the Animated divots website and the List of animated television series article, but it does not to seem to mention any of it. New Years Message for WikiProject United States
With the first of what I hope will be monthly newsletters I again want to welcome you to the project and hope that as we all work together through the year we can expand the project, create missing articles and generally improve the pedia thought mutual cooperation and support. Now that we have a project and a solid pool of willing members I wanted to strike while the iron is hot and solicite help in doing a few things that I believe is a good next step in solidifiing the project. I have outlined a few suggestions where you can help with on the projects talk page. This includes but is not limited too updating Portal:United States, assessing the remaining US related articles that haven't been assessed, eliminating the Unrefernced BLP's and others. If you have other suggestions or are interested in doing other things feel free. I just wanted to offer a few suggestions were additional help is needed. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions or you can always post something on the projects talk page. If you do not want to recieve a monthly message please put an * before your name on the members page.--Kumioko (talk) 03:32, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I do not understand how these "unnecessary colors" are okay in the Williams Street box. Please explain. Thanks,

- Per WP:NAVBOX, "Navigation templates are not arbitrarily decorative" and "There should be justification for a template to deviate from standard colors and styles", just like the {{Cartoon Network}} template. The category page should not be included in this template. Usually, ETLamborghini reverts edits from the template so long as there not Cartoon Network original series made by Cartoon Network Studios. WP:ANIMATION
I must ask, what is the point of tagging every template, category or image slightly related to the topic with the project banner? It's one thing to tag articles. Images? Okay, maybe. Categories be going a bit far. But what use could something like Template:Infobox Simpsons season 22 episode list header possibly have to a project with as wide a scope as the Animation WikiProject? -- Scorpion0422 19:43, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Since the beginning of the year you have made nearly 250 inconsequential edits to Template:WikiProject Animation. Can I ask about the purpose of these edits and why you undo your edits repeatedly? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:26, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
- He hasn't responded to either of us, so it's obvious that he's just doing these things to bulk up his edit count. -- Scorpion0422 18:30, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
- This happened the last time I asked a question on this page. An editor who is not willing to discuss their edits on Wikipedia, is clearly not in the right place. If there is no response to these questions shortly I will consider blocking the account until responses are forthcoming. This may seem drastic, but this is of fundamental importance. The project cannot function if editors refuse to discuss. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:31, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, it's me, Jj98 here, yes I've have edited the WikiProject banners too much, including the WikiProject Animation, and I will stop editing the WikiProject banners again, MSGJ, as long I will not get blocked. And yes, Scorpion0422, I've have tagged some The Simpsons episodes with the WikiProject Animation banner. I will remove some of the WikiProject Animation banner in The Simpsons related articles. JJ98 (Talk) 19:48, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- So you've gotten as many edits as possible by adding banners, now you're going to start removing them? -- Scorpion0422 00:31, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- Since your The Simpsons WikiProject cover any articles relating to The Simpsons and other media and the episode coverage task force of the Television WikiProject already covers The Simpsons episodes, yes, I might start removing them. Usually, the Animation WikiProject mostly covers articles relating to Animation, including animated films, television series, characters and animators. JJ98 (Talk) 00:41, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

If there is no response to these questions shortly I will consider blocking the account until responses are forthcoming. This may seem drastic, but this is of fundamental importance. The project cannot function if editors refuse to discuss. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:31, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
Okay, so part of the reason why I started this discussion in the first place is because my watchlist was being flooded with tags being added to questionable articles. I see these edits as having no purpose, other than to pad your edit count. So you're response is to remove all of them, thus intentionally annoying me again. I consider this to be disruption of wikipedia to make a point. But, you're lucky that I don't care enough to make a big deal about it. In the long run, edit count means absolutely nothing. And, if you think a high edit count will help you in an RFA, I've actually seen users opposed based on the fact that they had a small mainspace edit to total edit ratio. -- Scorpion0422 01:19, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for resizing Naked Juice logo
Hi Jj98, thanks for reducing the size of the Naked Juice logo. I had been attempting to reduce it myself yesterday, but was not able to do so without affecting the quality of the image. Can you recommend a (preferably free) basic image editing program to use for preparing photos for Wikipedia in the future? Cheers, Jeff Bedford (talk) 14:45, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
- Don't mention it, I have been reduced some non-free images with Paint.NET myself. It a proprietary freeware for Windows. JJ98 (Talk) 18:07, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Wikipedia:WikiProject Conceptual Jungle
Hi JJ98, I'm not logged in often recently and found out the WikiProject Conceptual Jungle I build was already removed several weeks ago. I prematurely addressed it [[2]], but as the replier to my message stated I should contact you first. I hope you could reconsider your decision. I intend to continue to work on this project and will try to involve more members. It's rather work intensive to update the pages but these updates contribute in making Wikipedia better and avoid superfluous and vague articles, and spot missing articles. Brz7 (talk) 22:00, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, I did, I have listed at WP:MFD 6 or 7 months ago, and it was deleted by Cirt (talk · contribs). See Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Conceptual Jungle for information. If you want your WikiProject page back, you can list at WP:DRV. JJ98 (Talk) 22:11, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your note. I've endorsed your nomination, but I'm wondering whether you are going to? --Kleinzach 02:07, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- Usually, WikiProjects mostly get inactive after there is no activity. For example, most likely WikiProjects get merged, or redirected and marked historical like Wikipedia:WikiProject Global Economics. Back in August, I tired list of all the subpages of the Cartoon Network WikiProject for deletion, including Wikipedia:WikiProject Cartoon Network/Jumpaclass, Wikipedia:WikiProject Cartoon Network/Community and Wikipedia:WikiProject Cartoon Network/Newsletter, but it was decided it was tagged as inactive. I think most of the WikiProjects are too narrow like WikiProject Lilo & Stitch was deleted due to lack of actively after having one member, including 16 articles in the scope in Category:Lilo & Stitch (there where 19 articles). I don't think want to nominate a WikiProject for deletion at WP:MFD anytime soon. JJ98 (Talk) 02:42, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for adding an importance rating to this article. I am surprised that the article is still classified as a stub following recent modifications. Hello there Jj98 i have noticed you have been nominating some Wikipriojects for deletion - would just like to bring to your attention that the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council should be notified when projects are up for deletion - in those rare cases when one is up for deletion : See Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide#Other options for the guidelines. Other then that thanks for the great work you do for us here on Wikipedia.Moxy (talk) 12:44, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry my bad, I have been recently nominating some inactive WikiProjects for deletion like WikiProject Stephen King (which went inactive in 2009) and Wikipedia:WikiProject Film Music (which went inactive in 2008). Thank for the notice, I will remember next time. Regards, JJ98 (Talk) 18:09, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

WPAmerican television
Greetings, I noticed you added WikiProject American television to the template for WikiProject United States and I wanted to stop by and say thanks. I also added it to the list of projects on the WPUS main page I hope you don't mind and I have already converted a couple over but will do some more later. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. --Kumioko (talk) 13:33, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry forgot to add something. How would you feel about adding a link to Portal:Television next to the link to the wikiproject on the banner. The portal is referenced on the projects main page and I think goes well with the theme? --Kumioko (talk) 13:59, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- No, not really, since WP:USTV has four members in this project. I will remove Template:WikiProject American television myself. Thanks anyway. JJ98 (Talk) 18:46, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ok I stopped converting them. I'm not completely sure what you were saying no to but it seemed like it was regarding adding Portal television and helpign to convert them. I did convert some already, I converted the template on the project page and I added it to about 20 more that didn't already have it. --Kumioko (talk) 19:03, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry to keep bugging you I was just curious about the project. Does the project include characters of the shows (like James Kirk from Star Trek, would it include vehicles like the Enterprise and the actors and cast? --Kumioko (talk) 02:26, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry to bother you but when you get a second could you answer these last couple questions please. The reason I ask is because I would like to see about setting up a bot run to tag some of the missing info such as episodes and tv programs not already tagged and I don't want to pull in anything that the project doesn't cover. Thanks. --Kumioko (talk) 04:09, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
- WP:USTV should not cover any episodes and characters of the American television series, just American television programs, like The Simpsons, Glee and Star Trek. These also includes American television networks and stations, like NBC, USA Network, CBS, Fox, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Discovery Channel. These project scope does not include characters and episodes of the American television series, including foreign television programs around the world. I agree, if all the articles were automatically assessed by bot, that would take up to 2,000 articles. This would take up to about approximately 90,000 or 100,000 articles for WP:USA, just like WP:FILM and WP:AUSTRALIA. JJ98 (Talk) 01:04, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks and I agree that would be too much. I just wasn't quite sure what the intent was. I think the number might be a little higher myself, somewhere about 4 or 5000 but I agree that sticking to the series and network level is best. --Kumioko (talk) 01:17, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

- Maybe I'm going mad, but didn't you request speedy deletion for Portal:Cartoon Network? I only ask because it seems to have been recreated. :) Green Giant (talk) 05:04, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, I know, recreated the portal and added few selected articles like Dexter's Laboratory and The Powerpuff Girls, including some Adult Swim programs like Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The WikiProject Cartoon Network is now officially inactive per WP:MFD. I am going to add few myself, including Courage the Cowardly Dog and Johnny Bravo which I used to watch when I was kid. BTW, per WP:NFCC#9 fair use images cannot be allowed in the portal. This portal is somewhat almost similar to Portal:Star Wars and Portal:Horror. *sign, Yawnnn, I going to have snack and going to bed pretty soon have since have overworked on the Courage the Cowardly Dog myself and rest of the Wikipedia pages and articles. WikiProject MfDs
Hopefully you'll be aware of this by now, but please please please stop nominating WikiProjects simply because they're inactive. It has long been established that we do not delete inactive WikiProjects unless they have virtually no real content or discussion. That is the whole reason we have the inactive tag for WikiProjects, and why WP:MfD says to tag them as inactive and not delete them. It might not seem like anything to you, but it's one of those things that the community at large has decided we should keep, just like talk page archives and past proposals. Many of these pages also contain relevant information to people who need to find sources on those topics or find out the reasons behind past decisions like mergers and such. -- Ned Scott 09:50, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- Which isn't to say that I disagree with some of your nominations. Even some of the ones I supported keeping I was a bit on the fence with and could not blame someone for bringing to MfD. It's just some of them also had TONS of talk page archives and such, and those should never be deleted. -- Ned Scott 09:56, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, I will stop it for now. Usually, TenPoundHammer (talk · contribs), Kleinzach (talk · contribs) and Kumioko (talk · contribs) has nominated some WikiProjects for deletion. I don't want to take this to ANI anytime soon. I'd appreciate it you looked at each individual Mfd on a case by case basis, and did not cut and paste the same comment on all of them. I respect your opinion but please argue it in a cogent and constructive way. I don't my page or subpages being listed at WP:MFD. Thank for your time. Regards, JJ98 (Talk) 10:02, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- You don't have to stop completely, just be aware that inactivity alone isn't a good reason. There could even be WikiProjects with lots of activity that have a good reason to be deleted in some cases. Sorry if I seemed a bit annoyed, but you don't have to worry about anyone taking this to ANI. That would be a bit overkill, since you're obviously acting with good intentions. And I did actually go through each WikiProject MfD and look at each one and type out a reason for each one (was tempted to copy/paste, and I probably did write the same thing on a couple). There were so many of them that I only bothered commenting on the ones I thought should be kept. -- Ned Scott 10:05, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with you. This is overkill. I would recommend tagging {{inactive}} if project has low activity without taking this to mfd. If the project receives little activity, I whould tagged {{semi-active}} just like WP:HORROR and WP:SYSTEMS. JJ98 (Talk) 10:52, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
