Hi
Good to see you back. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 17:22, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks Pavan, it's good to be back! It seems that I really needed that break because I feel more refreshed than ever at the moment. How are you? JAGUAR 17:23, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
- Dispirited since 26 June due to a very strong personal loss. May take months to bounce back. Meanwhile, some small productive things here and there with due help from Kailash; he has been very helpful in the recent past. I'm sure i'll be better sooner; Good luck to you, bro! Pavanjandhyala (talk) 17:52, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
- I'm really sorry to hear that. I just want you to know that I completely understand how it feels to lose someone as I've been through it more than once. Even when I was in my self-imposed exile I noticed that great work that has been coming from you two! JAGUAR 17:54, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
- What next for the big and better deals? Any plans? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 17:59, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

Indeed, great to have you back! Hope you've come back feeling refreshed!♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:58, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

- I suppose that I'll be focusing less on video games now and will be returning to bringing up some towns and cities to GA. I'm not sure yet as I've got a load of ideas. I just feel like I want to expand my horizon if you know what I mean, because I feel like I'm underachieving by writing obscure video games. After spending time with the witches in the New Forest I feel very refreshed ;-D JAGUAR 18:03, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
Contests
User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:26, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

Page mover granted
Hello, Jaguar. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
Useful links:
- Wikipedia:Requested moves
- Category:Articles to be moved, for article renaming requests awaiting action.
If you do not want the page mover right anymore, post here, or just let me know. Thank you, and happy editing! Nakon 23:55, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
Super Mario Galaxy screenshot
Just to let you know, the screenshot on the Super Mario Galaxy article (this one) is actually from Super Mario Galaxy 2, not this game, so it will need to be replaced. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 06:04, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
- Oops, thanks for letting me know. I had no idea. I thought that the IP was the same one who vandalised the article not so long ago! I'll replace it. JAGUAR 09:55, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
AWB, etc.
Sorry to see you get bounced at the noticeboard. Don't be dispirited by it, you have so much to offer in other areas.
All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 18:41, 4 August 2016 (UTC).
- Thanks Rich. I really thought that they would have given me a second chance. JAGUAR 19:20, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

RTL review
Hey Jaguar! If you're not busy with other Wiki-activities, can you check if Ride the Lightning satisfies the FA criteria and share your opinion at the FAC page? You've reviewed this article at the GAN, so you should be generally familiar with the content. Appreciate your time and all the best.--Retrohead (talk) 21:03, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Retrohead, I'm a bit busy with another matter at the moment but I promise to leave comments at the FAC within a couple of days! The article is looking great. JAGUAR 11:14, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
Can you restore this revision of the page and then move it to Taylor Swift videography in a way so that the history can be seen on the page with the small v in videography? (You have the filemover privilege, which I don't). FrB.TG (talk) 10:13, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
- @FrB.TG: I just tried moving it and it said "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reason: The page could not be moved: a page of that name already exists, or the name you have chosen is not valid. Please choose another name, or use Requested moves to ask an administrator to help you with the move." I don't think even pagemover rights will let me move this because an article already exists with the lowercase 'v'. Only an admin can merge the histories together with Taylor Swift Videography and Taylor Swift videography... JAGUAR 10:43, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks anyway. @Cyphoidbomb: can you merge their histories and delete the page Taylor Swift Videography as it is an incorrect title. FrB.TG (talk) 10:52, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

GA reviews
It was suggested by Dr. Blofeld at the West Country Challenge that you might be able to review my two GANs submitted for the Dorset minichallenge. The two articles in question are Jurassic Coast and Kingston Lacy. I know you did a number of reviews during the Awaken the Dragon challenge, but the Good Article Cup was on then so I doubt you'll be so keen now ;) Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:53, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, I like the Jurassic Coast. I see that Dr. Blofeld has taken Kingston Lacy already, otherwise I was going to review that too. Let me know if you want anything else reviewing! JAGUAR 21:09, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. I might take you up on that. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:29, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
Would you like to review this GAN of mine? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 06:41, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
- Sure, taken. It might be a day or two until I begin the review as I'm feeling ill and drained. JAGUAR 11:19, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
- No worries. Take your own time. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 12:22, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for taking up the review, Jaguar. All the best for your FAC -- Super Mario Galaxy. I too shall start the second FAC of Eega tomorrow (the first was withdrawn due to a personal loss). I'm happy that i could find things that can keep me busy, as sitting idle in RL is very haunting in the current situation. BTW, any Indian films watched recently? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 02:27, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, Pavan, and I hope that everything is OK with you. I completely understand how you feel because I've had two similar experiences, both in 2012 and 2015. I haven't watched any Indian films in the past few months sadly, and was hoping if you could recommend some! I usually watch them in two parts anyway, as I have trouble sitting through anything that is over two and a half hours. JAGUAR 19:52, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
- Dr. Blofeld says that, many times. And i can do nothing but feel sorry. Okay, i will give smaller films with subs. You can choose the one you want to based on the duration and other things. 1, 2, and 3. Now the genres: A simple urban rom-com, a rural rom-com, and a thriller based on a rationalist and the god. Let me know what you have watched and how was the experience. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 02:09, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks! I think I'll start with Karthikeya, and since I won't be doing anything today I think I'll finish it by tonight. I don't mind watching long films but it's just that I usually have to watch them in two parts. Even with films like Titanic I had to watch in two parts. Once Upon A Time In America was so stupidly long that it took me three days to finish it! Anyway, I'll let you know what I think of Karthikeya. I'll probably end up watching all three... JAGUAR 11:38, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
- Good choice. Not sure about the film and its VFX, but its cinematography shall be a delightful thing. Happy editing, and very happy viewing. ;-) Pavanjandhyala (talk) 14:42, 2 September 2016 (UTC)

@Pavanjandhyala: I just finished Karthikeya, I really enjoyed it! The storyline was intelligent, I liked the bit about the horoscopes and how Valli bought good luck Karthikeya, that was well thought of. I wasn't too sure about the VFX, like you said. I thought that the piece of chocolate flying out of the dead man's mouth and into the teacher was a strange choice to add in. But the cinematography (like a lot of Indian films I've watched this year) was very good. I'm watching American films much less now. JAGUAR 22:23, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
- Glad you loved it. The god to whom that temple was dedicated to is referred to as Karthikeya, and his consort is named Valli. Naming the leads with these names was a clever touch. For me, the best part was animal hypnotism. Coming to cinematography, there is a scene where Karthikeya sends his mother back and we are shown the serpent statue from a lower angle in a gloomy morning atmosphere, as if it is witnessing the happenings with care. That was something which i couldn't forget for a long time after the first screening. Let me know what your next choice shall be, and what did you feel while watching it. Good luck! ANI close
Hi, thanks for your input at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Cassianto: incivility and rejecting community input at Talk:Noël Coward. I doubt this would change the outcome, but I wanted to clarify that I made no proposal to 'ban' Cassianto from participating in infobox discussions
; I was proposing to ban him from a single discussion, which happens to be about infoboxes, in which he has been repeatedly uncivil and explicitly unwilling to accept community input, as an alternative to a simple incivility or disruption block. FourViolas (talk) 13:28, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Jaguar. I have undone your hatting of the thread, because the Infobox matter is the subject of an active Arbcom restriction on decorum. Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Infoboxes#Decorum. — Diannaa (talk) 14:07, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hi. When I closed the thread I was thinking of the previous discussions that tried to ban him from infobox discussions, and wasn't thinking of single Noel Coward discussion. Sorry for being unclear. Diannaa, the Arbcom decorum restriction prohibits actions such as "personal attacks, incivility, assumptions of bad faith, harassment, disruptive point-making, and gaming the system". How was my closure any different from SchroCat's close two days ago and the closures before that? JAGUAR 14:23, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
- The main topic of the thread is Cassianto's behavior at Talk:Nöel Coward. I believe it's in violation of the Arbcom ruling on decorum during Infobox discussions, and would like more input on that point at WP:ANI. That's why I re-opened the thread. — Diannaa (talk) 14:29, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi there. I've started a new initiative, the Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. It's a long term goal to bring about 10,000 article improvements to the UK and Ireland. Through two contests involving just six or seven weeks of editing so far we've produced over 1500 improvements. Long term if we have more people chipping it and adding articles they've edited independently as well from all areas of the UK then reaching that target is all possible. I think it would be an amazing achievement to see 10,000 articles improvement by editors chipping in. If you support this and think you might want to contribute towards this long term please sign up in the Contributors section. No obligations, just post work on anything you feel like whenever you want, though try to avoid basic stubs if possible as we're trying to reduce the overall stub count and improve general comprehension and quality. Thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:09, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
Lost
What do think of the discussion on Handel's lost Hamburg operas? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:34, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Gerda. I think it's pretty good, seeing as the infobox documents a list of lost operas. Really it's only infoboxes for biographies which I am sceptical on, but on the contrary I find them pretty useful for articles like settlements and video games. In the one you sent me I think it should be OK, although I'm not an expert on the subject matter. I just don't want any hard feelings on the MfD, it's just that I don't like infoboxes when they aren't needed! JAGUAR 15:38, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- It's operas though where I came from. In the one mentioned, I was reverted, discussed, accepted the revert. I don't know where the idea of "breeding ground for infobox warring" comes from. I have not warred, infobox or else, in my career, and don't take it well. Other example Chopin: after discussion, Brianboulton installed the compromise infobox in the article, agreed on by the pricipal editor Smerus. Came another editor, interpreted the discussion differently and reverted, - accepted (admittedly not without bitterness in that case). Did you hear the word compromise? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:51, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- I guess I will never understand why a date of premiere for an opera is alright, but a date of birth in a composer is not. - Nicer topic: I have a FAC open, perhaps you'd like to comment, should be easy after Wehwalt and Dank supported ;) - Even nicer: my pic on top of my talk ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:39, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- I suppose that an opera and a biography of a person are two different things, and presentation is a major factor as well. I think that some of my views were mentioned by others at the MfD discussion; I know for a fact that all hell would break loose if somebody created a page that is focused on removing infoboxes from articles, and I hope that its withdrawal would help calm the waters. I got a FAC on my hands at the moment, but I'll be happy to leave comments soon! Lovely pic by the way! JAGUAR 20:13, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

- Looking forward to your FA comments! - What can I say to make you understand that the QAI page is not a call to do something about infoboxes, - just the fact that they were reverted. - I don't care if an article has an infobox or not, but reverting a long-standing one seems a problem I want to remember. I'll go and archive, how is that? - An opera and a bio have in common, that an infobox (and actually also our prose) cannot capture genius, but we can still have the plain facts like dates and places, and I fail to see a difference, compare Verdi's Falstaff, TFA on 1 January as a hopeful beginning of this year, the opera brought to FA by Tim riley, in honour of Viva-Verdi. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:28, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- The info-box for Falstaff was already in place when I began working on the piece, and though it is a waste of space I left it in situ feeling that it would be as arrogant and presumptuous of me to remove it as it is arrogant and presumptuous of Gerda and co to issue a Diktat that I must add a box to any article I write. Don't worry, Gerda: you shan't have to take my name in vain any more. The bullying, whining and bad faith of a handful of editors has ground me down and I am withdrawing from editing Wikipedia. Tim riley talk 08:56, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
- Tim, I am very sorry to hear that you intend to leave. I was aware that you left the box for respect of Viva-Verdi, - perhaps I should have explained that. - How you got the notion that I dictated you an infobox on every article, - I have no idea. - Do you have any complaints about me bullying? I would like to straighten that out. - Btw, I declared my uninvolvement with the topic infoboxes, at least for the rest of this year. - Will the little boxes that try to help some readers (sometimes called idiots, well I am one them) ever become normal editing objects, like images and tables? - Tim, I always enjoyed working with you, - will keep only good memories! - Please keep reading, for example Life is too short. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:31, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

Another day: can we look at the list together, please? The (so far) 21 articles where an infobox was installed in 2016 and reverted. None of them caused any trouble, none is related to summer discussions, five of the seven summer discussions mentioned were never on the list, the other two were added after discussions started. It has fewer than 30 watchers. If it were userfied, there would be more ;) - What's the point of a deletion discussion? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:20, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
- Because the page is counterproductive in which it begins as a list for targeting pages which don't have infoboxes, then it creates discussions to include them, then it causes arguments, then it leads to sanctions and people getting blocked or leaving the site altogether, which is evidenced two comments above with Tim riley leaving. I don't think userfying the page will help matters either, as long as it's on Wikipedia then it's harmful. I'm sorry, it's just that I will do anything to put an end to this all. I really don't want any hard feelings, my respect for you will never waver, Gerda, you're one of the nicest people I know :) JAGUAR 20:57, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
- We look at different pages, or we look very differently, or you didn't look again. The page I linked has - of course - an infobox, of Pierre Boulez, as I added when he died (when I also did something about his article, and wrote an article about a composition, - I met him in person) but was reverted, so we discussed. Period, no intention to change the status-quo, just the memory of how it could look. Then one sentence about infobox as a simple tool of accessibility. How that can be understood as a request to have one in every article, is beyond me. It doesn't even say an infobox is good, - just that it makes some information more accessible. Next: three infobox templates that were co-created by project members. Please don't forget that we on a talk page of a project. I monitor the inclusions of these templates and smiled about 666 musical compositions ;) - Next comes the list of articles where an infobox was installed but reverted, - no names of editors, - I often don't even know who wrote an article. - That's all, a document of the past. - Your turn, tell me where you see "targetting". The 21 articles: please check the discussions, the one which started the thread for example: friendly and civil. - I want some day perhaps refer to it, and may have forgotten the article title. No article by Tim among the 21, as far as I know. - What's next, - deletion of Precious, by the same project? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:06, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
Gerda, you're starting to ramble. Jaguar might have nominated it but the community have largely voted "delete" on the list, so directing your objections towards him isn't going to make much difference. It's in the community's hands now, not Jaguar's.♦ Dr. Blofeld 06:06, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
- I am not objecting to the discussion, I am trying to understand what he sees, while I see something different. To put it drastically: the articles mentioned have been the "victims" of reverters. To make it "victimise people" seems absurd to me, especially as no people are mentioned, but obviously not to others. I just try to understand. I disagree with you when you say that infobox discussions can not be civil. See the one on top of this thread. See Siegfried (opera). Even The Rite of Spring, long and repetitive, yes, but was it ever uncivil? How many more do you need, to please change your comment on ARCA. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:35, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
Portsmouth
Good day, I have just been looking at the fine work you have been doing on the Portsmouth article to get it to GA. I hope you succeed in getting it through review, but in any event I wanted to say an extra special thank you on behalf of the citizens of Pompey and the readers of Wikipedia. You definitely deserve a Geography barnstar. Good luck with the continuing edits! LordHarris 23:17, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

- Thank you so much! I've got a couple of books hopefully coming through the post which should let me further expand and flesh out the article. I've been trying to get it to GA for six years, and this time I will definitely succeed. It always feels great to be appreciated! JAGUAR 23:21, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
Will try to continue the review later, but have bene busy with the contest and infobox discussions!.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:43, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
Filemover granted
Hello Jaguar. Your account has been granted the "filemover" user right, either following a request for it or due to a clear need for the ability to move files. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:File mover for more information on this user right and under what circumstances it is okay to move files. When you move a file please remember to update any links to the new name as well! If you do not want the file mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Peer review - GOT
Hello Jaguar, Sorry to bother you again, but I have nominated the episode "Battle of the Bastards"(Season 6, Episode 9 from Game of Thrones) for a peer review. I would appreciate it, if you just give a look and tell me what in the article I can improve, for it to become a "Feature Article". AffeL (talk) 11:19, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, no problem. I'll take a look soon. JAGUAR 14:26, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

- Hi.. I just need to know if you will give a quick comment.. because I will be closing the Peer review at any time now. You don't really need to do it(I have noticed that you are very busy with the Portsmouth article). Just want to know if I should wait or close it now. AffeL (talk) 12:56, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
- @AffeL: Sorry for getting to this so late. I'm finished with the Portsmouth article now (it took me two months with fluctuating internet) so I'll have to time to your peer review now! JAGUAR 12:59, 1 October 2016 (UTC)

Allen Walker FAN
Sorry for bothering you so much but the review Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Allen Walker/archive1 is has been inactive for around a week and I fear it might fail due to that rather opposes. Anyway, good luck with Super Mario Galaxy. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 14:36, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

Bond Street
I don't want to be the harbinger of doom, but somebody is complaining about your GA review on this article (albeit indirectly) - could you have a look at Talk:Bond Street#Problems when you've got a mo? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:14, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, no worries, my harbinger of doom comes through the post nowadays! I'll take a look at Bond Street by tonight hopefully. I've just got my internet access back and haven't edited in a few days, so I've got some other matters to look through first. JAGUAR 16:44, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
GA Cup Announcement
Greetings, all! We would like to announce the start of the 4th GA Cup, a competition that seeks to encourage the reviewing of Good article nominations! Thus far, there have been three GA Cups, which were successful in reaching our goals of significantly reducing the traditionally long queue at GAN, so we're doing it again. Currently, there are over 400 nominations listed. We hope that we can again make an impact this time. The 4th GA Cup will begin on November 1, 2016. Four rounds are currently scheduled (which will bring the competition to a close on February 28, 2017), but this may change based on participant numbers. We may take a break in December for the holidays, depending on the results of a poll of our participants taken shortly after the competition begins. The sign-up and submissions process will remain the same, as will the scoring. Sign-ups for the upcoming competition are currently open and will close on October 31, 2016. Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors, so sign-up now! If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the judges. Cheers from 3family6, Figureskatingfan, Jaguar, MrWooHoo, and Zwerg Nase. To subscribe or unsubscribe to future GA Cup newsletters, please add or remove your name to our mailing list. If you are a participant, you will be on the mailing list no matter what as this is the easiest way to communicate between all participants.

Your GA nomination of Portsmouth
The article Portsmouth you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Portsmouth for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already been on the main page as an "In the news" or "Did you know" item, you can nominate it to appear in Did you know. Cliff Clinkscales GA nomination
Hello, could you please do me a great favor and take a look at the Cliff Clinkscales article? I have been working on improving and expanding this page for a long time and my ultimate goal is for it to become a featured article. However, I want to see it promoted to a good article before getting into any of that. If you are interested, feel free to start the review or let me know if you don't have the time. Thank you. TempleM (talk) 23:41, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
- Sure thing, I've started the review. JAGUAR 11:56, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
