Works for me. I've been wanting to work on their song articles (especially Mientes since it's been Latin Grammy nominated) for some time. Magiciandude (talk) 15:44, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

CAMILA!!! Song of the Year! Record of the Year! Yeah, that's I'm talking about! =D By the way, I just nominated this ceremony for the current event candidate. You will most likely see this in the main page sometime soon so keep an eye out. =) Magiciandude (talk) 05:23, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

*sigh* I tried my best to get Latin Grammy Awards featured on the news, yet it simply dismissed as "show focusing one genre in the U.S." when we both know that Latin music is more than just a genre and involves different countries. Even when I pointed out this, it just got ignored. I am quite frustrated to say in the least. Magiciandude (talk) 04:11, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just noticed something on your work regarding Fernando Osorio. It says that "La Negra Tiene Tumbao'" spent 89 weeks in the Latin Tropical Airplay chart and peaked at number two in the Hot Latin Songs chart." For unknown reasons, the Billboard website doesn't have charts for Latin Tropical Airplay prior to August 2009. Even though they're both found on Allmusic and on the Billboard magazines on Google Books, it's not on the website. What happens is, if you go back one week before August 2009, you are redirected to August 2, 2003 where albums are posted instead. I honestly have no idea why they do this. Which reminds me, the singles chart now have templates where it link to the Billboard chart. I manage tell them about Regional Mexican Airplay and Tropical Airplay when they only had Latin Songs and Latin Pop songs. Here it is. Hope that helps. As for the Latin Grammy Awards, there's always next year right? Magiciandude (talk) 20:24, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Tell me about it. I've reported this error twice to Billboard and nothing seems to have change. Magiciandude (talk) 13:23, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding those last references. The list looks great! I will nominate (with you as a co-nominator) the list for FL status as soon as one of my other nomination has finished (can only do two at a time at FLC). Thanks again! --Another Believer (Talk) 16:48, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist

[edit]

FL--congrats! --Another Believer (Talk) 23:28, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I added a small section about the Latin Grammy Awards to my projects page. I am mostly working on regular Grammy Award categories, but feel free to let me know if you get any other Latin Grammy categories to FL or Good status and I will update my project page. Keep up the good work! --Another Believer (Talk) 23:35, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. Looking forward to working together again in the future. The Best New Artist list should have its "featured list" star very soon! --Another Believer (Talk) 00:02, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Can you weigh in here about whether you think the awards category template or the awards ceremony template should be displayed first? Thanks! --Another Believer (Talk) 21:46, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Glad you agree. Would you mind mentioning your preference on the article's talk page? That way I can revert the edit again and it won't be viewed as an edit conflict. Thanks! --Another Believer (Talk) 23:12, 4 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mientes

[edit]

Okay, I've started working Mientes on my sandbox and I'm using Clocks (song) as the basis. But I'll be busy till the end of the next week due to exams. In the meantime, I made a proposal to include categories on singles that charted #1 on the Latin pop, Tropical, and Regional Mexican. Also, fellow Latin music task force member, Gariseiro, has worked existensively on Nelly Furtado's Mi Plan. Magiciandude (talk) 21:45, 4 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, my exams are over and I'm free for the holiday break. Are you going out-of-town for the holidays? Magiciandude (talk) 21:56, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well I've been hearing a lot of bad stuff going on around Mexico (the drug war), so you take care alright? Not that things in Puerto Rico are getting any better thanks to our idiot governor, Fortuno.... I forgot to tell you, that I listened to Amar la Trama the other day (since you said it's a great album). I loved the instrumentations for the most part and the lyrics. There was like one or two songs that I didn't like, but you were right, great album. I can also work on that too since it's a high GA potential. [edit]

Dude, great job on the Javier Limon article. You just saved me from tons of work, Ive noticed how notable he is but never got around to creating his article because of my other projects. One again, excellent job. Gariseiro (talk) 09:22, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It was pleasure working with you. I was glad you worked on hard on that Latin music articles, it was what inspired me to start the Latin music task force! Here's to looking forward for our future projects! Magiciandude (talk) 02:05, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I myself got Viva el Principe by Cristian Castro. It combines two of my favorite things from Mexico, José José and Cristian Castro. Plus a new PC since my previous one got fried. And congrats on your 25+ DYK achievement! Magiciandude (talk) 19:33, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I forgot tell to you, I've listed Amar la Trama for copyediting by the Guild like what the peer review suggested. You should go ahead and nominate it for GA, it gives us plenty of time to work on Camila on the mean time. Magiciandude (talk) 20:13, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! I cannot imagine how long it must have took you to make such a quality article like that! Great job as always! I didn't either he wrote that many notable songs. Magiciandude (talk) 20:48, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Check this out, the article for Amar la Trama has been copy edited by the Guild. Are you going to go ahead and nominate it for GA? Magiciandude (talk) 20:51, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Anytime partner! ;) I just listened to whole album of Dejarte de Amar and let me tell you, that album should have won Album of the Year, not that sorry excuse for an album, A son de Guerra. As long time JLG fan, that album was by far the most disappointing CD I have ever heard. For Camila's consolation prize, they got to have their album be the first FA Latin album article, eh? Which I wanted ask earlier, what did you think of 2010 in music? Magiciandude (talk) 05:38, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have an idea to do after "Dejarte de Amar". Can we do a collab for a featured list? You did a Year-End chart for Latin Songs so I did a Year-End chart for Latin Pop songs. What do you think? Magiciandude (talk) 00:19, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Grammy

[edit]

Hey! I respect if you are not interested, but feel free to let me know if you wish to assist with any of the following Grammy Awards lists related to Latin music:

Some of them may not be long enough to reach FL status (I have not looked at all of them). I just know you have an interest in Latin music so I thought I would let you know of similar lists that you might enjoy working on! Keep up the great work. --Another Believer (Talk) 19:30, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Now that I look, it appears that most of these are not long enough for FL status. Oh well, maybe I will go ahead and work on formatting the tables so that they are ready for FL status in the near. Best wishes! --Another Believer (Talk) 19:33, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to see that you are willing to help! I think that the categories "Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album" and "Best Mexican/Mexican-American Album" would be best to start with since they are long enough to reach FL status and we should be able to find references for each year. --Another Believer (Talk) 20:37, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This will also be good because we can also create stubs for Grammy-winning albums if there is not one already! --Another Believer (Talk) 20:41, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am starting with Best Mexican/Mexican-American Album, which I noticed you have worked on in the past. Feel free to join if you wish! --Another Believer (Talk) 20:52, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for helping with list by creating stubs. The list will look much better with blue links instead of red links! By the way, if you happen to come across references citing the nominees for a particular year, be sure to throw the reference into the appropriate row on the table! I did some table formatting already, but there is more to be done so hopefully I can get to that again soon. --Another Believer (Talk) 23:06, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much! I have been watching you create articles for the list--it looks great! Now table formatting is the big obstacle. Hopefully I will have time for that soon (just busy at work!). Thanks again, and keep up the great work! --Another Believer (Talk) 20:45, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dejarte de Amar

[edit]

Hello Javier! First let me say that my activity in Wikipedia won't be as often because of college (I'm majoring in Computer Science to be a game designer). With that said, when I was looking for reviews to put in the article, I found this. I don't know if this will be useful or if the review is garbage. Magiciandude (talk) 21:48, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

¡Por fin me completo el basico de el articulo! Espero que le gusta. Alright, I need to know now what parts of the article you can take care of and what parts of the article you want me to take care off. Magiciandude (talk) 19:38, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good to me, just let me know as soon as you can. Magiciandude (talk) 20:21, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Right now, I'm looking for a public domain image of Camila. I found this picture on an article of Camila in Croatian Wikipedia, though I'm not sure if it's considered public domain. Magiciandude (talk) 02:18, 29 January 2011 (UTC) Okay, I've add a picture for Camila's article and Mario Domm's article.Magiciandude (talk) 03:23, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For the ones I uploaded on Commons just now, nope. When I saw Prince Royce's article had a picture from "Acceso Total", I assumed it was alright since it didn't get deleted, but I uploaded them on Commons, it get a speed deleted. But I suppose I should have known better since it says "Walmart" trademark on it. I'm glad Tbhotch pointed out that, otherwise I think I might landed on some hot water. I don't know about the one from Croatian, but I didn't see it on Commons. I guess that one had permission. So far, I'm having trouble looking for them on Flickr, because most of them have a "All Rights Reserved" marked. Magiciandude (talk) 03:31, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Good news, I was able to find a new image and put it on Camila's and Mario Domm's article. Tbhotch said this one was okay. If you have any image requests for an artist that doesn't have an image on the page, please let me know and I'll look for it on Flickr. EDIT: Alternatively, I can show you how to upload images that can used on musicians pages if you'd like. Magiciandude (talk) 04:21, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Look at this! We've got nine people on the Latin American music task force! Five people just joined on one month! If this keeps up, we could end as one of the most active task forces! BTW, El Mexico brought up a point about article titles in Spanish. It turns we have to follow the rules by having only the first letter of the first word capitalized per WP:ALBUMCAPS. Also, I'm still waiting for your input on Dejarte de Amar. Great job on those Latin Grammy Awards! Magiciandude (talk) 00:55, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would have two separate rows for 2010. One row for "Jorge Calandrelli and Gregg Field" (no description about being awarded jointly is required since the lead explains this) and a separate row for George. That should look just fine, and the lead explains why there are two rows for 2010. --Another Believer (Talk) 19:15, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Romances

[edit]

Hello Javier! I took the time to work on Romances by Luis Miguel. I figured this might have a better chance of reaching FA than the others we've worked on. With your approval, I would like on this with you. I humbly await your reply. Magiciandude (talk) 04:48, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jaja, glad you liked it! Don't worry about the Album caps; it turns out the guideline wasn't even right and was been removed. In fact, I should be the one apologizing because you worked hard on those articles for FL. I felt really bad about what I did. For Romances, I need help on getting background information for Silvetti and Manzanero for the production section. I also need more information about the tour so that the section can be expanded. I chose Romances for a try since it's considered to be ground-breaking in Latin American and in for a Spanish-language album. Once Romances is nominated for GA first, I will continue to work on Dejarte de Amar (has somebody even reviewed Amar la Trama yet?). I only listened to Bebe once (from Now Latino Vol.1) for her song, "Mala". I didn't really like it, but if you got a favorite song from her, post it! I keep an open mind on music. For the Latin Grammy lists, yeah, I asked Another Believer if I could join the work as well and he agreed. From the sound of things, we'll get the lists done before we know it! My main goals for the task force are:
  • Collaboration requests (like we're doing with Dejarte de Amar)
  • To have at least one FA Spanish-language album (which is being done with Romances)
  • To have Latin music portal featured sometime mid or late this year (I'm not sure if there's enough articles to warrant a Featured Portal)

It's a lot, but we're making a difference. On a personal note, you have a Facebook as well? Magiciandude (talk) 05:37, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Javier, you might want to take a look at this. Magiciandude (talk) 05:55, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Check out my work on Romances and let me know what you think. I need more information on the recording and production section. Magiciandude (talk) 19:42, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Something about the Latin Songs chart I want to mention, I had a discussion with KWW which Latin Songs chart we can and should not use. In this this discussion, the Regional Mexican and Tropical Songs are genre charts while the Latin Pop charts are a component chart to Latin song chart. The Latin Pop Song chart can used if the song didn't chart on the main Latin Song chart. If this is incorrect, let us know. And as usual, great job on Gloria (Gloria Trevi album). In regards. Grammy Awards task force?

[edit]

Hey there! I was wondering if you would have any interest in joining a Grammy Awards task force if I were to start one under WikiProject Awards and prizes. I would love to get some editors together to keep the Grammy lists and articles up-to-date. Please let me know if you would be interested. Thanks! --Another Believer (Talk) 15:21, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, the project could also include Latin Grammy Awards. I think that even just 2-3 very active editors could work together and vastly improve the Grammy-related articles and lists. We could even have a collaboration of the week where we all tackle one list/article together. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:29, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I saw the news about the major overhaul. Someone went through all of the Grammy articles and made some updates (mostly without referencing), so some work is needed there. Vuelve (album)

[edit]

I don't know if it's too early to ask this and you're probably too busy with your work on the Latin Grammy Awards, but if/when Romances gets FA, would like to collaborate with me for the album Vuelve by Ricky Martin? You brought up it months ago and I know I said I don't like the guy (well not his music anyway), but given the significance of how successful the album was, I think it'd be good to work on that album for GA or maybe even FA. Just let me know if you want or not and I'll come back when I'm finished. Magiciandude (talk) 00:43, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re your DYK for Latin Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album

[edit]

I'm reviewing your DYK for Latin Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. While the expansion and referencing are okay, the fact in the DYK hook appears to be incorrectly portrayed. The actual name of the album is not "unremarkable" but "Amarte Es Un Placer" which translates to "Loving pleasure" (using Google Translate). The word "unremarkable" was an epithet given by a critic vide the reference for that fact in the article (reference 7). Please reword the hook for reconsideration. Latin Grammy Award for Song of the Year

[edit]

Looks pretty good! Songs are sometimes not notable enough for their own article--you may want to link songs without their own article to the article for the album the song appears on. Be sure to use the "sortname" template so that sorting is done by last name rather than first name. Looking forward to seeing this list at FLC when ready! Also, feel free to request feedback at the Grammy Task Force talk page in addition to or instead of (your choice!) my talk page so that others can offer comments as well. Keep up the awesome work--the task force is off to such a great start! --Another Believer (Talk) 22:36, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jaespinoza. I noticed you are adding the line "The album received a nomination for a Latin Grammy Award for Best Pop Album by a Duo or Group with Vocals" where appropriate. That very nice, but lacks content and source. Can you please add the year and a reliable source? Best regards.--Muhandes (talk) 05:57, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Grammy Awards Task Force Update

[edit]
<font=3>I'd like to offer an update of the Grammy Awards task force. The task force was established 3 months ago with 26 featured lists and 8 good articles. Since then, the project has increased the number of featured lists to 39 and good articles to 10, a major accomplishment for a small task force in such a short period of time! There are currently 2 Grammy-related lists at FLC (Latin Grammy Award for Song of the Year and Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance), so be sure to offer feedback/comments if possible. Also, a Sources page has been set up to provide reliable sources for future use--this tool will be very helpful for finding references quickly.
Keep up the great work, task force members! --Another Believer (Talk) 15:44, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ambassador Program: assessment drive

[edit]

Even though it's been quiet on-wiki, the Wikipedia Ambassador Program has been busy over the last few months getting ready for the next term. We're heading toward over 80 classes in the US, across all disciplines. You'll see courses start popping up here, and this time we want to match one or more Online Ambassadors to each class based on interest or expertise in the subject matter. If you see a class that you're interested, please contact the professor and/or me; the sooner the Ambassadors and professors get in communication, the better things go. Look for more in the coming weeks about next term.

In the meantime, with a little help I've identified all the articles students did significant work on in the last term. Many of the articles have never been assessed, or have ratings that are out of date from before the students improved them. Please help assess them! Pick a class, or just a few articles, and give them a rating (and add a relevant WikiProject banner if there isn't one), and then update the list of articles.

Once we have updated assessments for all these articles, we can get a better idea of how quality varied from course to course, and which approaches to running Wikipedia assignments and managing courses are most effective.

Hello Javier. Today, someone came to my talk page suggesting Romances be the Article of the Day on February 14 for Valentine's Day. It was interesting idea, but the article has only been FA for only half a year. Then I remembered that there's also a Featured List of the Day and thought of you. Have you ever considered submitting one of your FLs to today's Featured List? The submission can be found here. Oh, and Happy New Year. :) Erick (talk) 18:16, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have always wondered about that, I will check my sources (references) and submit one of my lists, thanks for the suggestion. Happy new year my friend. Jaespinoza (talk) 18:44, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
