The name used for him in the media is "Benjamin", not "Ben" as for the disambiguator, I couldn't think of a more appropriate one. AnonAnnu (talk) 22:11, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

Module feedback
Hey Jackmcbarn - I just want to let you know that I've reached the 6500 points (6583 to be exact) in my Module:Sandbox/Ahmetyal. No problems yet, but I'm not sure if I can continue. --Ahmetyal (talk) 18:38, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Drake Bell full protection
I'd like to request that the protection at Drake Bell be kicked down to semi-protection from its current full-protection. I know there was a fair amount of disruption at that article, but full-protection seems pretty extreme, and it's been full-protected for 10 days now. Thanks for your consideration. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 23:38, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
- @IJBall: I've done that for now, but I'll have to restore it if the disruption resumes. Jackmcbarn (talk) 03:41, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks Jackmcbarn! But might there be other options? – Pending changes protection, for example? (I might even be willing to put the article on my Watchlist to look out for stuff, if that'll make a difference...) --IJBall (contribs • talk) 03:56, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
- If autoconfirmed users start causing trouble, the only thing other than full protection that could fix that is PC2, and we're unfortunately not allowed to use that. Jackmcbarn (talk) 04:01, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!
The Original Barnstar | |
Cheers mate, I would like to ask you, What is your main source of data that you are using in order to edit the Syrian and Iraqi insurgency detailed map?
If you don't mind, I would like to contribute as I am a Syrian. Kind regards. Ecoboy90 (talk) 02:47, 13 July 2015 (UTC) |
- @Ecoboy90: I only make technical fixes to those maps, so I don't get data from any source. You'd have better luck asking those pages' other editors. Also, note that barnstars aren't really meant for asking questions; regular talk page posts are the intended way to do that. Jackmcbarn (talk) 03:29, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Made 2015 World Tour
I created a page of Big Bang Made 2015 World Tour months, but it got deleted first time because the lack on information the tour have, also it was too early for it, so I put it on the List of Big Bang concert tours, for the past months the section of the tour has been growing, and it's become big to be in the list, it needs a separate page, so I asked on the talk page about it, and there is no object about it, so I created the page again, and it's deleted again! I don't know what processes should I follow to have a chance to make the page again, could you please help. Thank you CesarLeto (talk) 18:55, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
- @CesarLeto: Since Samwalton9 closed the AfD, you should ask on his talk page first. If you're unsatisfied with his response, the next step would be to go to WP:DRV and follow the instructions there. Jackmcbarn (talk) 18:59, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

Accidental Deletion
I believe you recently deleted Sharon Lin.jpg accidentally due to a misunderstanding. The photo was taken by me, and although it has been uploaded to my social media pages, I am still the owner of the original photograph from which it had been cropped. Apologies if any offense is taken, but I would like to have the photograph back on Commons. Thank you.

How to call another Lua module?
Hi, Jackmcbarn! I'm learing Lua and thanks for your help in Module:VG timeline. I have a question, how to call another module in a module.
For example in Module:Sandbox/CAS222222221, I want to call Module:InfoboxImage. Use frame:expandTemplate
for calling {{Infobox image}} is okay, but how to use that module directly?
Thank you.--CAS222222221 (talk) 09:40, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
- @CAS222222221: Use require('Module:InfoboxImage'). Look at Module:Infobox military conflict line 174 for an example. Jackmcbarn (talk) 13:40, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Deletion Policy
Hi Jackmcbarn, thanks for your comment on my edit to the deletion policy page. While I agree that *most* deletions are done for perfectly good reasons, there are plenty of deletion nominations I have witnessed that fail the very first test on Wikipedia:Deletion_policy#Alternatives_to_deletion: "If editing can improve the page, this should be done rather than deleting the page." Invitation to subscribe to the edit filter mailing list
Hi, as a user in the edit filter manager user group we wanted to let you know about the new wikipedia-en-editfilters mailing list. As part of our recent efforts to improve the use of edit filters on the English Wikipedia it has been established as a venue for internal discussion by edit filter managers regarding private filters (those only viewable by administrators and edit filter managers) and also as a means by which non-admins can ask questions about hidden filters that wouldn't be appropriate to discuss on-wiki. As an edit filter manager we encourage you to subscribe; the more users we have in the mailing list the more useful it will be to the community. If you subscribe we will send a short email to you through Wikipedia to confirm your subscription, but let us know if you'd prefer another method of verification. I'd also like to take the opportunity to invite you to contribute to the proposed guideline for edit filter use at WP:Edit filter/Draft and the associated talk page. Thank you! Script error: The module returned a value. It is supposed to return an export table.

Something odd is happening with this RFD nomination...
Hey Jackmcbarn, I figured you may know what is going on here. While I was correcting a double redirect encapsulated in a substituted RFD template, the state of the page went from this to this. In the second entry, somehow, the entirety of The Bold and the Beautiful secondary characters was transcluded. I don't know how it happened, but I have some suspicions of what may have caused it. In the first example, the target of the redirect is a redirect itself, making it (before I edited it) a double redirect; the issue happened after I resolved the double redirect. Anyways, here's the reason I think you may know what is going on: in the first edit I posted, the editor transcluded the template {{R from incorrect capitalisation}} on the nominated redirect to categorize it that is currently a template redirect nominated for RFD. (I have a suspicion this is somehow causing part of the problem.) Steel1943 (talk) 07:25, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Steel1943: It's a bug in Scribunto itself. I'll try to get a patch in Gerrit for it. I added a workaround to the module for now. Jackmcbarn (talk) 04:17, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
Lua
Does anybody know how to use various symbols and scripts as self.args. i.e. args. in Lua? - @Obsuser: Okay, that's one of the more difficult types of modules to translate. You'll need to create a table called translate that contains all English arguments with keys and translated arguments as values, and a table called backtranslate that contains all translated arguments as keys and English arguments as values. You'll need to give both of them metatables so that anything that starts with "combatant" in English is mapped to the same thing but starting with "strana" translated, and vice versa for backtranslate.
