Recent changes
- There is now an experimental Wikimedia maps service. You can give feedback here. [1][2]
- Last week a few issues with UploadWizard were fixed. Before this was done, UploadWizard would stop you from uploading your files if something went wrong. [3][4][5][6]

- You can now choose whether to extend a link or not when editing one in VisualEditor. This means it is easier to choose how much of what you type before and after the link is part of it. [14]
- Wikibooks can now use data from Wikidata. [15]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs are the most important. The meeting will be on 22 September at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.

Miss Shqiperia
Hello,
I am wondering why you deleted Miss Shqiperia page as it is an actual beauty pageant in Albania separate from Miss Albania? Waiting for your reply, Shikuesi3 (talk) 00:07, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Shikuesi3: Because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miss Shqipëria. Not everything gets to have a Wikipedia article. If you think the result of the discussion is wrong, go to WP:DRV. Jackmcbarn (talk) 01:46, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi Jack, You've helped me in the past with some Lua issues. I've completed the re-write of this template into Lua. However the template page is protected thus I can't add the #invoke line to point to the Lua module. Here is the edit request. I've asked other admins for help but they seem afraid to do anything as they don't understand Lua. There is a testcases page shows it works. I've written other templates just like it including {{Books and Writers}}, {{Internet Archive author}}, {{Librivox book}}. Any help appreciated. -- GreenC 00:31, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Morgan Margolis
Hi Jack, trying to create a page for Morgan Margolis, son of Mark Margolis & CEO of Knitting Factory Entertainment. The previous page was deleted due to unambiguous copyright infringement so I want to make sure that won't happen again. Djjames88 (talk) 20:23, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Djjames88: Read Wikipedia:Copyrights. Basically, you have to actually write the article, not just copy and paste stuff that someone else already wrote. Jackmcbarn (talk) 22:30, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
Ok understood. Can I use short quotes from articles as long as their cited? Djjames88 (talk) 22:40, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Djjames88: Yes, but not too many of them. Jackmcbarn (talk) 00:56, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
Ok, I've finished creating the page for Morgan Margolis, this was a bio I had already written for him & includes 2 quotes from the web. Please let me know if I need to fix or change anything before removing and I will do so, I appreciate your help Jack! Djjames88 (talk) 02:09, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

Adding OpenCritic to Video Game Aggregators
Hey Jack,
I'm trying to edit the following module to add OpenCritic: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Module:Video_game_reviews
OpenCritic is a new video game review aggregator, similar to Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic. The site recently launched but has already seen significant traffic and positive reception among the gaming community.
We're hoping to get it added so that we can start adding it to the traditional module.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Forum Club of the Palm Beaches
Hi Jack McBarn,
My apologies...I'm not fully understanding if I should have messaged you here or on my page or somewhere else. But a year ago you edited an article I submitted for review. You had found that I needed permission from the subject of the article (The Forum Club of the Palm Beaches) to use content from their website. Below is your message to me.
@Sunnyzayas: The email you received was a mistake. Blatant copyright violations are deleted immediately. Note that you can't forward the owner's permission to Wikipedia; the copyright owner has to send permission directly to us themselves. I undeleted the page and deleted only the revisions that contained copyright violations, so you can see your references again. Jackmcbarn (talk) 21:19, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
I then asked you how the owner would go about sending permission directly to you, but never received a reply. I just had her email permission-en@wikipedia.org. Does that suffice? I'm confused by how it all works and would love to finally be able to get this article up on Wikipedia.
Thanks, Sunnyzayas (talk) 22:36, 3 December 2015 (UTC)User:sunnyzayas 17:35, 03 December 2015 EST
- @Sunnyzayas: The correct email address is "permissions-enwikimedia.org". Once the email gets processed, she'll get an email back with an OTRS ticket number. Put that number in your edit summary or the talk page when you add the content. Jackmcbarn (talk) 03:07, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Jackmcbarn: Good morning, Jack. Here is the ticket number. [Ticket#: 2015120310022956]. Many thanks!

Hello, Who can make a Turkey location map for Turkish Insurgency ? Like Syria location map. But this does not seem to map rivers in Turkey. Anyone interested in creating a location map for the Turkish insurgency in Turkey? Personally I do not know how to create such a location map and hence I am asking if any other editors would be happy to create one? Who can add to this rivers map? for example, the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. And rivers in neighboring countries. For example, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Armenia, Russia, Bulgaria and Greece. The background color of the provinces on the map should be a little darker, a little white color .. .. And the borders of the provinces should be slightly thicker than black. Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- Wikimedia no longer uses visitor statistics from comScore. [89]
- You can make interactive graphs with the Graph extension. There is now a tutorial for how to do this. [90]
Problems
- Some pages do not turn in up in categories where they should be. This is because link tables are sometimes not populated. [91]
Changes this week
- The Nuke extension will work with Flow. This will make it easier to handle spam in Flow. [92]
- New file uploads will now be patrollable. [93]
- Internet Explorer 8 will no longer have JavaScript support. You will still be able to browse and edit Wikipedia if you use Internet Explorer 8, but will not be able to use some features. This can be solved by upgrading to a newer version or switching to a different browser. [94][95]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 12 January at 20:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- URLs in the recent changes IRC feed will no longer be rewritten to unencrypted HTTP. This could be a breaking change for bots dependent on the IRC feed. [96]
- The edit tabs for the wikitext editor and the visual editor will be combined to one single edit tab. You will be able to choose which one you prefer. If you are not logged in, your choice will be saved as a cookie in your browser. You can test the single edit tab. [97][98]
- There is a beta feature that adds links to the subject on other Wikimedia projects. This works much like the links to for example Wikipedia articles in other languages. It will go out of beta testing and be enabled for everyone in January. Wikis that don't want this can decide to have it disabled. [99][100]
- The difference between "alerts" and "messages" notifications is unclear to some. The developers want feedback at the Phabricator task or on MediaWiki.org so they can make this better. You can give feedback in your language if you can't write in English.

Sppedy deletion of my new created article '63 domains'
Dear User Jackmcbarn,
I am a new Wikipedia member. A few days ago I created the new article / site '63 domains' on wikipedia. After creating it, I was warned from the wiki bot about the used content because of 'Unambiguous copyright infringement'. But I am 100 % the origin author of the used content (I just took it from my own website www.63.domains for which I wrote it when creating the website).
So in the meanwhile I also sent a 'Wikipedia: Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported and GNU Free Documentation License (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts)' but I didn't got answer until now.
Thats the text I wrote / copied:
______ 63 DOMAINS are domain names which contains 63 characters (left side of the dot). 63 characters is the maximum amount of characters in a domain name. Those characters can be L (letters) / N (numbers) / MIXED (also dashes) and IDN (other signs and / or symbols). The most aesthetic 63 DOMAINS are those which have a clear system / visible pattern in their structure. They can be seen as abstract art domains - mostly owned by collectors inside the domain scene - but not only. ______
I want to create this page in the best way I can - this text was just the beginning. Waiting for your answer,
best regards User spiritualenergy Spiritualenergy (talk) 23:56, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Spiritualenergy: The ticket did get received (#2016010810002022), but it hasn't yet been looked at by an OTRS member. Note, however, that there are other problems with the content as well: the topic doesn't appear notable (i.e., there are no reliable sources that talk about it), and as written, it's rather spammy. Deletion of page
Hi Jackmcbarn,
Can you please explain why my page "Shubham Patel" was deleted twice ?
With Regards Shubham Patel — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spatelskr (talk • contribs) 20:42, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Spatelskr: It wasn't deleted. It was moved from article space to your user space, since it's inappropriate as an article. Only the redirect was deleted. Your page still exists at User:Spatelskr. Jackmcbarn (talk) 20:46, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
Hi Jack,
So is it possible to change user name from "Spatelskr" to "Shubham Patel". And what should I need to add photos in this page. Please help
Thanks
- @Spatelskr: You can change your username by using Special:GlobalRenameRequest. You can upload photos at Wikimedia Commons. Jackmcbarn (talk) 20:58, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
CHKN Retrieval
Hello!
I had started a new article for a game called CHKN the other day. At the time, I had only a few lines of text as a simple, temporary placeholder that I got from their site. I then had to go to the movies, and left only that text. I did read more through the guidelines, and understood exactly why it was deleted. However, I would like to rewrite it, as I do have sources, and I can understand how the original sounds promotional. I do apologize.

Israel location maps
Did you ever get around to refactoring them? I've started updating populations on the articles, and see the full country map is still being used instead of the zoomed-in versions (you were planning to redraw all the maps like this following the Sepsis II incident. Cheers, Number 57 12:56, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Number 57: Sorry for the late response. It turns out that I don't have any tools that can edit the original file format (CorelDraw), so Ynhockey (or someone else who can edit CorelDraw files) would have to do it. Jackmcbarn (talk) 16:35, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
