Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

  • Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
  • Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as: copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such unreasonable information or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, and will result in your account being blocked.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. Again, welcome!

Indian Railways

[edit]

To start with: I like the condescending way you posted this sentence: expected more informed people like you to take it up instead of bringing it down. I certainly had reasons to remove as the article is a featured article, or one of the best on wikipedia. Reasons why I had removed content:

  1. When adding content, cite credible sources. Without a source, certain content can be deleted as 'unsourced'.
  2. As for the coaches: The article is about the company; to add stuff on coaches etc, it should be correctly placed in/linked in Rail transport in India.
  3. Unfilled sections like 'Modernization' and few subsections like 'Passenger safety', 'Station cleanliness', 'Coach cleanliness'. -- Having blank subsections reflects poorly on the structure of the article: If content is needed, place a request on the article's talk page.
    • Also isn't it's a bit unfair on your part to place empty sections on a page and expect others fill in content? As a railfan you're more than welcome to add content from credible sources and do your bit to improve the coverage of railways in India.
  4. info calculation rules of FINE imposition (why not as this is faced by several railway passengers). -- isn't this a bit subjective?
  5. Lastly, as you rightly put it our purpose is to inform readers. However, this is not a complaint forum against the Indian Railways for them to see their pitfalls. Report things as is keeping in mind the neutral point of view.

I can't really tell if they're obvious vandalism. You'd probably be better off reporting to the administrator's noticeboard for more views. —Mets501 (talk) 12:22, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding "alleged" Vandalism by 152.12.4.15 on 'Binaca Geetmala' releated pages.

[edit]

Mr Chauhan

Here is the bottom line - I was the person that started these webpages; however the person who had supplied me with some of the lists had requested me to take them off this website temporarily till Oct/Nov of this year. So I had tried to delete the contents but they were later put up again by Samir among others, I sent a message to Samir requesting him to take down those pages at least till October - however I have had no reply or positive feedback. I would like to request you to do the same i.e take down the lists till Oct/Nov. Also I have every Binaca geetmala annual list from 1954 till 1993. If you guys do choose to keep these pages up denying my request, I will make sure that neither I nor the other people that have access to these lists will ever put up anything in these pages. However if you do hide these lists temporarily, then we will put up all the lists after November. The choice is yours - do you wish a wonderful web resource to be created or do you choose to ignore our request and have these incomplete lists be all the resources that is put up.

In response to your question, the person who supplied us with at least some of the lists is writing a book which will be published in Oct/Nov: we dont want his book sales to be hurt.

Re:Your 'rm parent cat, category diffusion' changes

[edit]

I am afraid you've got the idea of categorization on Wikipedia wrong. From Wikipedia:Categorization: "Categories help users find information, even if they don't know that it exists or what it's called."

"If one knows only the name of university/college", the search box is there to help. Categorization is for organizing the information.

Please see the guidelines on Wikipedia:Categorization#Some_general_guidelines: "Articles should not usually be in both a category and its subcategory". Also, cycles should be avoided (on same page).

As about breaking the category 'University and colleges' in India, you can put forward the proposal at Wikipedia talk:Notice board for India-related topics. utcursch | talk 14:16, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

cateogry

[edit]

Please don't revert the removal of the category. It was discussed on Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 October 20 and such category has been disbanded. When you readd it you recreate it, going against stablished consensus, if you persist going against agreed decisions, you may find yousrelf subject to sanctions. -- Drini 17:55, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You may need to read your own ('wisdom') page more carefully. If you see the pervious checkin by me, the page was not showing the (deleted) category in question, in fact your checkin messed up (visually) my user page and I am not sure whether you feel sorry about it or not. Vjdchauhan 05:44, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
I must apologize then. The thing is that political-type categories are usaually reverted and fought by users going against the consensus. I'm sorry then. -- Drini 21:27, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My response was quite rude, sorry for that. Regards, Vjdchauhan 04:37, 4 November 2006 (UTC).

The article didn't (and still doesn't) say that the Institute has its own hospital. Maybe you can expand the article by adding that info in.

Second, I don't think you're supposed to remove the merge tag before at least one day is up. You're probably the only person who's seen the proposal and removing the tag early does not give others a chance to comment. But since I have no problems with not merging the article, never mind. ;-) Kavadi carrier 10:07, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I think the article should be called "Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University" since that is its official name. Kavadi carrier 10:09, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am not an IMS-BHU passout so would not be able to contribute there. I agree that the page should be renamed. Lastly sorry for reverting merge tag without waiting for at least a day. With due regards, Vjdchauhan 04:35, 4 November 2006 (UTC).

[edit]

Hello! Look at http://wikimapia.org/#y=8495988&x=76930561&z=18&l=0&m=a&v=2&show=/503821/, there are two marks Pettah railway Overbridge, you will see one place is marked for deletion. It will be deleted in 12 hours. You may cancel deletion. Click Cancel deletion and use delete request in menu! You will see again this sign. Will this work, I mean the deletion? Because I think you pressed the bottom one (it's for normal users). Alexandre Koriakine 11:50, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just tried deleting some heavily oversized boxes using ('UserBox->Menu->Deletion Request') menu at Aligarh at Wikimapia and got pop up sure you wand to delete with OK/Cancel option and on clicking OK threw another popup saying The place is marked for deletion and will be deleted soon with OK button. Reopening the box says This place is marked for deletion. It will be deleted in 12 hours. You may cancel deletion., wonderful. I think you just now raised my privilege level further (earlier it was raised to 2 votes level) and am also seeing a bit changed main popup box where now I cannot see Report Problem->Delete Request menu option at bottom-right of the box (this was the menu using which I deleted some boxes which didn't work always).
Thanks a lot for further enhancing the privilege (on seeing power of this privilege level I think we need 12 hours or some other appropriate gap to revert deletion by mistake).
May be you would like to correct the spelling mistake in sure you wand to delete to sure you want to delete. Regards, Vjdchauhan 12:29, 8 November 2006 (UTC).
Yes, We are making more and more futures. What about temples: http://wikimapia.org/112312/ and near on the left is also an Ganesha temple. Are they real temples or they are homes? Alexandre Koriakine 14:11, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Platform independent C++ counterpart for ActiveX Data Objects and 'VARIANT'

[edit]

In general, you should probably read up on STL, and have a good look at Boost. Now to the specifics. One of the best C++ 'variant' implementations is probably boost::any. To get "record-like" functionality, you can simply use std::map<std::string, boost::any>. A container of those - std::vector, std::list or std::deque, depending on your needs, would be analogous to a detached recordset. What more, boost::multi_indexed_container allows for an arbitrary number of custom indices on in-memory data for fast lookup. -- int19h 19:16, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, I’m not that sure about it myself (sorry to revert you so bluntly there). Major problem could be that when only vaguely related links are included in the see also section (that are not in the nav box), people tend to think that’s all there is. It’s mostly unclear that the nav box contains the “primary” see also links. --Van helsing 13:11, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mahrajganj

[edit]

I wanted to explain why I had created Mahrajganj, Mahrajganj. When two towns in the same state (UP) have the same name, the convention is to disambiguate them at the district level. In these case, there are three towns with the same name in one state. (Mahrajganj, Azamgarh, Mahrajganj, Mahrajganj and Mahrajganj, Rae Bareli) Hope that explains. Also why there are two separate pages on same event namely Indian Rebellion of 1857, Indian mutiny. My attempt to redirect faied, may be you can help there (pls note Indian Mutiny where 'M' is in capital letter already redirects to main page i.e. Indian Rebellion of 1857). :
There are several 1857 related pages which is written from Brtishers perspective, if the language can be changed to more neutral then that would be better. Vjdchauhan 12:11, 31 May 2007 (UTC).

Chandrashekhar Azad's Birth place

[edit]

The fact is that Chandra Shekhar 'Azad' was born in Bhaawra Tehsil of Jhabua district in Madhya Pradesh, not in Badarka village of Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. His father moved from Badarka to Bhaawra before Chandra Shekhar's birth. So the birth place needs to be corrected.-Amod Bhagwat 20:22, 16 March 2007 (UTC)Amod BhagwatAb_18.

Chandrashekhar Azad's father Pandit Sitaram Tewari was from Badarka, Unnao District in Uttar Pradesh, but Chandrashekhar Azad was born in Bhawra, Jhabua District of Madhya Pradesh. His mother, Jagrani Devi had spent her last years in Jhansi with Sadashiv Rao Malkapurkar, who was a very important man in Chandrashekhar Azad's group. After Chandrashekhar Azad's death, Sadashiv Rao Malkapurkar had been in contact with Jagrani Devi and she had told the fact that Chandrashekhar Azad was born in Bhawra, Jhabua, NOT in Badarka, Unnao. 1 June 2007. Since you work a lot in Indian categories I was hoping you could weigh in on this deletion discussion.Bakaman 16:14, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear VJDChauhan, I have noticed that you added the category [Category:People from Mathura] to a number of articles wherein the subject actually came from elsewhere such as Bangladesh or Orissa (even if they spent some time in Mathura later on). Please could you watch out when adding this category in future. All the best, Gouranga(UK) 19:50, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Gouranga, 'People from XYZ' doesn't means that the corresponding person is native to that place/born there, it also means the concerned person had spent siginificant time at that place. Check entries of some other notable people on Wikipedia and you will notice thet they belong to more than 1 'People from XYZ' category. Vjdchauhan 20:47, 25 June 2007 (UTC).

Etawah

[edit]

Hi, I noticed you added categories for people from Etawah. Are you from Etawah ? If so, would it be possible to help me with a google earth placemark for Humeganj / Homeganj in Etawah named after Allan Octavian Hume. His biography notes The high school that he helped build with his own money is still in operation, now as a junior college, and it has a floor plan resembling the letter H. Was wondering if this might be visible. Thanks. Shyamal 13:42, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Shyamal are you from Etawah. Regarding me well my origins are in Etawah and have relations there but have not lived there. I tried finding Humeganj in Wikimapia but its not listed there. I will ask my cousin (from Etawah) to help me finding that college. Vjdchauhan 15:12, 7 July 2007 (UTC).
Thank you. I will look forward to any information on that. I looked around on Google Earth for any particularly well planned (grid-plan) part of the city and did not find it either. No, I have very little connection to Etawah, except for an interest in Hume via ornithology and a friend who once used to study Sarus Cranes there ! Hi friend. Thanks for your comments my small work! I've been trying to tag the places where I've been. My wikipedia user name is Ab_18 and wikimapia user name is ab_18. But when I listed my wikimapia user name at Alexandre_Koriakine's talk page, it is taking my wikipedia user name, while I want to list my wikimapia user name over there. Is there any way out? Amod Bhagwat 09:26, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

I have seen your name on User talk:Alexandre Koriakine and tweaked a bit. First is you Wikimapia name and second one is your Wikipedia Signature so no issues, Alexandre will handle it accordingly.
As per your contribution on Wikipedia, you primarily work on Jhansi page, may be you can start creating pages on Wikipedia example page on MLBMC, BKD college, BBC College, MLA's of Jhansi, other prominent people from Jhansi whose link still appear as Red link. Have you chec kd Category:Jhansi and Category:People from Jhansi, I have created these categories and put the pages to that category, may be you would like to add those pages to your watchlist. I case of any confusion related to Wikipedia, you can write a note on this very page and I will get back ASAP. Vjdchauhan 09:43, 3 August 2007 (UTC).[reply]
Thanks for the guidance. I'll start with some places and people in Bundelkhand region. I've checked Category:Jhansi and Category:People from Jhansi and added to my watchlist. You've done a great work of organising related pages under a common title!Amod Bhagwat 10:50, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, infact I have organized similarly for all districts of UP, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, HP, Uttarakhand and some districts of MP.
While creating page(s), make sure you don't lift the text as is from other website else page will be deleted citing copyright violation (that's the reason why Mahavir Prasad Dwivedi page created by you was deleted), one have to interpret and rewrite the text from some other source not copy-paste. If data is not there then 2-3 line/single para page is enough, also ensure to add some relevant category to the page else it will get lost in this huge encyclopedia.
Amod you should start using 4 tildes for any posts on talk pages i.e. ~~~~, which will automatically add your user name and time to your posts.
Also usages of : will put once comments right indented.
Thanks for your tips! Now the work seems to be easier using these tips.

DRDO Lab pages,

नमस्कार,

I saw your post last year on Archerblack's talk page. You'll be happy to know that I'm doing this at the moment. I am creating the lab pages for the individual lab pages. I'd love your help and any suggestions in this regard. I have created a sandbox page for the labs at User:Sniperz11/Sandbox 3 where I've created infoboxes for the individual DRDO labs.

I've also created general format for the lab pages. I've also created a template for the labs at Template:DRDO Laboratories. The template links to the individual lab pages, or at least to those pages that exist. I request you to help out in creating more pages... the more the merrier. Thanks.

धन्यवाद। आपसे मिलकर बहुत खुशी हुई।

I felt that the Top is too new a product to evaluate as "similar". The iMac, for example, does not have a touch screen. I still think that the link does not belong, though I was wrong to use rollback on a good faith edit. You can bring up the issue on the talk page if you like. --HereToHelp (talk to me) 17:07, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see anything. Maybe a cache problem at your end? Try purging the cache. PS In the future, could you ensure that the subject line is a little more terse? :) It makes the ToC look ugly. =Nichalp «Talk»= 09:11, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GovernIndia

[edit]

Hi Vijay,

I got your email in response to our post on Shyam's talk page. Thanks for the link to the top Indian wikipedians. We can actually do with all the help we can get, including creating a coherent mandate for GovernIndia. Initially, we had thought that we'd create a sort of subgroup at wikipedia itself. However, Wikipedia told us, rightly, that our aims were not really in line with Wikipedia's and therefore we should build a separate wiki. We are currently hosted at [www.governindia.org/wiki governindia.org]. I also manage a small blog with headline updates of what I consider important national news - but its only as much as a single working person can manage.

We would like to invite you to get involved. As I mentioned on Shyam's page, we're a small group of people and we're not even an NGO as such. Just something that we though we should do. In terms of wikipedia-ness, we're looking for someone who can build the right sort of templates for webpages about politicians, etc. I went through the box-template at wikipedia but it was pretty complicated - perhaps because of an attempt to make it generic. We also need people to help us figure out how to organise the different kind of information we want on the wiki, etc. The works.

I have replied to your email from my personal address. Please do check and respond with your thoughts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Governindia (talkcontribs) 09:00, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Spam in Saifai

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Saifai, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Saifai is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Saifai, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Vjdchauhan! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 01:18, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject India Newsletter Volume V, Issue no. 1 - (June 2010)

[edit]
Project News

WP:IND Newsletter is back! It's been nearly a year since the last edition, but we hope to bring out issues on a more regular basis now. The India Wikiproject was set up to increasing coverage of India-related topics on Wikipedia, and over the past few months the focus has been on improving article quality. A number of the project's featured articles underwent featured article reviews over the past year. Of these, Darjeeling and Flag of India survived the review process, while the rest were demoted. During the same period, Gangtok, Harbhajan Singh, Darjeeling and Mysore were featured on the main page respectively on August 20, September 17, November 6 and December 29, 2009. Meanwhile, articles on topics as diverse as Political history of Mysore and Coorg (1565–1760), Marwari horse and Iravan were promoted as featured articles, and respectively appeared on the main page on March 25, May 17 and May 28, 2010. Consequently, the number of FA-class articles under the project's scope dropped from 67 in August 2009 to 63 in June 2010. The number of good articles, however, saw a more than 40% increase, from 91 to 130 during the same period, while the number of featured lists saw a 33% increase from 12 to 16.

Due to the recent policy changes regarding unreferenced Biographies of Living People (BLPs), an effort was started in January 2010 to source all unreferenced BLPs coming under Wikiproject India. 1200 such articles were identified initially and more were added to the list later. Due to the sourcing effort, the number of Indian unreferenced BLPs is down to 565 currently. During February-April 2010, There was a large scale disruption of Kerala related articles by a Thrissur based IP vandal. Editing from a dynamic IP BSNL connection, the vandal changed dates of birth, death and ages of a number of Malayalam and Tamil film actors. Later he added a few international biographies to his list. He also marked some living people like Arvind Swamy as dead. A month long range block was imposed on his IP range two times and each time he came back to vandalise dates once the block expired. Currently the range has been blocked for three months till September 11, 2010.

WikiProject India Newsletter Volume V, Issue no. 2 - November 2010

[edit]
English WikiProject News

After a missed issue, the WP:IND newsletter is back on track to being a regular bimonthly feature. The Indian WikiProject has seen plenty of online and off-line action, both in English as well as other Indian languages, and we now have a bigger, better format that intends to feature content and news from the English as well as other Indian language Wikipedias.

Reaching out to Indians has been the theme of the Indian Wikiproject over the past couple of months, aiming to involve a greater number of Indians in editing both the English and Indian language Wikipedias. To this end, efforts to set up the Indian chapter of Wikimedia have moved into their final stages, and registration of the society is currently pending. An effort is underway to push for "WikiMarathons" at meetups, where attendees will be encouraged to edit the English and/or Indian language Wikipedias. This is intended to popularise Wikipedia editing among the general public. In addition, a bot to post DYK's from the Indian Wikiproject to Twitter was created and launched by User:Logicwiki.

What's New?

Regrettably, the number of Featured Articles has dropped from 63 in June to 58 at the end of October 2010. Several FAs came up for review and were delisted, while Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles and Fundamental Duties of India was saved. Meanwhile, Chalukya Dynasty appeared on the main page on July 9, 2010. Hearteningly, the number of Good Articles increased from 130 to 136 during the same period, while the number of Featured Lists remained constant at 16.

The source code for the Article Alert Bot is now available and the bot itself is expected to be up and running very shortly. This means that article alerts for the Indian Wikiproject will again be available, enabling editors to easily keep track of developments in respect of reviews, nominations, deletions etc.

The date change vandal mentioned briefly in the previous issue made a reappearance when the range block on his IP range expired in September. Consequently the block was extended till September 2011.

In October there was a heated discussion in the India project noticeboard regarding the copyright status of the Indian party symbols. The discussion was triggered by the deletion of Wiki San Roze's party symbol images by Hammersoft as copyright violations. No resolution was reached, partly because of our inability to explain to Hammersoft how election symbols in India differ from party logos. Comments are requested from anyone with a background in Indian copyright law to clarify this issue.

Redirects

Need help on the A2Z Group Article

[edit]

Hello, I am trying to create an article for an Indian Organization, A2Z Group that is invested into Energy generation from renewable sources of energy like waste, biomass, etc. It's efforts have therefore helped our country a lot. Unfortunately since I am new to Wikipedia and since A2Z Group is an Indian company the wikipedia editors haven't been able to verify the 'notability' of the company.

Could you please help me with improving the Article and with convincing other editors/administrators about the notability of the Company? Thanks!

A2Z Group as the name suggests is a group of business units and therefore you will find a lot of references for each of its business units namely:-

The article Keshav Dev Temple has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There has been a {{notability}} tag on this article for the past three years, and the issue has yet to be resolved.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. References and citations

[edit]

Hi IndianGeneralist. I have recently patrolled your new article Tanda thermal power plant. I noted that the article contains no in-line citation and no secondary source as a reference. This is a serious problem for any new article. Anything written on Wikipedia that is likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable published source to allow independent verification - see WP:Verifiability. This can be done using in-line citations. At present, Tanda thermal power plant has no in-line citations. To find out about use of references and in-line citations please have a look at WP:REFBEGIN. Also, all articles must demonstrate that their subject is notable - see WP:NOTABILITY. At present, there is nothing in Tanda thermal power plant to indicate that it is sufficiently notable to warrant an article on Wikipedia. If these deficiencies aren't corrected the article is vulnerable to deletion - see WP:Guide to deletion. If you have any questions about these things please leave a message on my TALK page and I will try to answer them.

I have also noticed that all your new articles have titles in which every word is spelled with a leading capital letter. Wikipedia's policy is for titles to be written in "sentence case", not "title case", so leading capital letters are not necessary. (I changed the title to Tanda thermal power plant to conform to this policy.) Please see Wikipedia:Manual of style#Article titles. Dolphin (t) 13:03, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Urkhao Gwra Brahma requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Bolding

[edit]

Hello IG! I noticed you have been bolding the installed capacity and other factoids for many power stations in India. I do a lot of work on dams and hydro (hydel) projects and the installed capacity is never bolded. There really isn't much else that should be bolded in an article except for the title in the lead. If a dam supports a power station with a name other than the dam's name, we bold that because they are redirect targets. See Maneri Dam as an example. You can see more cases at WP:MOSBOLD if you are curious. If you have any questions, let me know.--NortyNort (Holla) 19:33, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

New Category of trains

[edit]

Hello There,

I have noticed that on two pages .i.e. Ahmedabad Mumbai Central Double Decker Express & Jaipur Delhi Sarai Rohilla AC Double Decker Express, you have removed the category of Named Passenger trains of India & added a new one of Double Decker trains of India. Is it possible for both categories to co-exist?? Superfast1111 (talk) 04:17, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

category 'Double Decker trains of India' is a subcategory of 'Named Passenger trains of India', so is there really a need for adding category 'Named Passenger trains of India' to the articles already having category 'Double Decker trains of India' ? A tag has been placed on Chaudhary Charan Singh University requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.ccsuniversity.ac.in/new/About-us.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Subhash Yadav a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. — CutestPenguinHangout 06:55, 9 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, RattanIndia Nashik Thermal Power Station, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Speedy deletion nomination of Saraswati Medical College

[edit]

Hello IndianGeneralist,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Saraswati Medical College for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
