Contested deletion
[edit]Notable temple of Mathura. The article should not be deleted. I'll see if I can do anything. --Tito Dutta ✉ 08:36, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
Same temple, merge
[edit]This is temple beside krishna janmabhoomi prison cell. It should be merged to Kesava Deo Temple Author might have confused about the limit of "krishna janmabhoomi complex" which includes this temple too. This article also coordinates missing, so this is not separate temple. Hidden macy (talk) 06:03, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- My understanding is that they are two different temples next to each other with identical (?) names. I previously removed a merge template on this article primarily because of the dates given within the two articles. Kesava Deo Temple is stated in its article as first being destroyed 1017 AD, reconstructed in 1150, destroyed again in the 16th century and reconstructed again during Jahangir's reign (15 October 1605 – 8 November 1627). Keshav Dev Temple is stated in its article as having been destroyed in 1661 AD (no reconstruction date is given). In the Kesava Deo article's "History" section, it is stated that, "The next big temple was constructed here during the time of the Gupta Emperor Chandragupta II around 400 AD." This sentence seems like an allusion to the Keshav Dev Temple where in its article it is stated, "This temple is considered a monument of Gupta period (320 to 550 AD)..." which would support the notion that they are two different temples. If I am in error, please correct me. ComfyKem (talk) 20:23, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- I have visited the place, there is krishna Janmabhoomi prison cell next to mosque and one Kesava Deo Temple next to it. Both are in the same "complex" which is under security cordon where camera/mobile not allowed, so we hardly get any pics from there to ascertain reality, mosque has separate entrance in other direction. Image of deity idol in this article is of the other temple, i am 95% sure as i have seen it. I have added coordinates for other two articles, and you cant spot a third place/temple in the google maps. Though this has few references, no reference distinguishes this temple from the other. As written in this article the celebrations held, that is actually held in the other temple. And i feel if we get no more objection then we can merge it. Hidden macy (talk) 06:19, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
