Re: Newsletter reminder

I've been trying to update it, but I just got hit with a bunch of real-life work and so I'm unsure if I'll be able to get back to it today... I'm also not sure where to look for all the GA/FA changes. Sorry for being so useless, I prolly shoulda started on this sooner... :P Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 15:48, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Delivery

Sure thing... When will it be ready to go out? xenocidic (talk) 16:43, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

k, lemme rev up my AWB. xenocidic (talk) 16:51, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
wifey just got home and wants me to help her clean out her car, but I'll get it delivered before EOD. xenocidic (talk) 17:07, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Aerith Gainsborough

Sorry about that, I thought I left all the article titles and any quotes that used Aeris alone. Sorry I missed one, and thanks for correcting it. Nezu Chiza (talk) 20:20, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

  • I don't have problems with risking a riot, policy states we go with Aerith, so we go with Aerith. Their compromise of using Aeris in SOME sections goes against that policy, plus the name changing throughout the article made no sense. I'll keep an eye on the page for awhile and see what happens, I had to do the same to Spice and Wolf. Nezu Chiza (talk) 20:54, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Costs

Thanks for leaving a note at Air (visual novel); I'll get to removing the prices in articles I've added them in.-- 02:11, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey...

You've been around for a while now, you've done some great article work, you've done AfD and CfD discussion...

We're always told it's not a big deal, so on that note, would you be interested in adminship? If yes, I'd be happy to nominate you.

Think about it and give me a yell... cheers, giggy (:O) 07:08, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Kingdom Hearts Wiki

Hello Guyinblack25. I am an Admin at the KHWiki and I was wondering if you'd like to come and help us out. We are in need of it. Please reply back [here]. Thank you :) - —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.88.241.101 (talk) 05:23, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Looks like the same vandalistic sock puppets on SM64 are doing the same thing to Super Mario Sunshine. I'm close to 3RR, and I've tried to discuss with one of them, but they won't reply. If you could help me out, that would be great. The Prince (talk) 14:41, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Check this out: [1]. Will it ever stop? The Prince (talk) 14:58, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the help. Hopefully, Sephiroth can get an end to this mess. The Prince (talk) 16:06, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: VGtitle box

So when reffing the the release dates do i only have to ref the bottom one to cover them all? or should i ref them all? Salavat (talk) 15:36, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

I might change them over tomorrow, i also posted a problem on the talk page of the template if you want to read it. Salavat (talk) 15:50, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Merged in FF battle system into main Final Fantasy article

It was a grueling merger, and I tried to add a bit more detail, but I didn't add anymore images. I would like you to review the merger I did, and take a look at the battle section that is now perhaps a bit to big. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 19:27, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Many thanks for you comments and suggestions on the above article that is now a Featured Article. Your assistance during the review process was much appreciated and helped make the article what it is today.--Jackyd101 (talk) 20:13, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

For getting countless articles to GA/FA status, and for helping me out when I've been in a jam, I award you this barnstar. Better late than never, right? The Prince (talk) 22:22, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Re:Peer review

Yeah, I noticed that. Take your time on the copy-editing - I'm in no hurry to go to WP:FLC with it (although given how much User:Raime is getting close to overtaking me at WP:WBFLN, I might want to hurry a little :p). Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 22:35, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the work. I'll comment as I read. First note is that the village's name is Konohagakure, so is "Konohagakure village" the proper way to show that? Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 05:58, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

High Score not saved

  • note - put this on the space invaders talk page originally, but decided to put this here as well in case you didn't notice the talk page for a couple of days*

Regarding your recent edit - the reference is wrong. In fact, both references in that section are wrong. Space Invaders did not save the high score, there was nothing for score saving on the board, all scores were lost when the game was shut off (unplugged) and were simply refered to as "High Score of the Day". I refer you to the original system manual here and here, and the actual game rom playable in MAME (which also easily verified this). I believe the reference meant "save" as in display any high score obtained. Even in that context, they are both incorrect, the first game to "save" or "show" the high score was Sea Wolf, released a full 2 years earlier by Midway. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 05:37, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Kingdom Hearts PS3 has been announced

On IGN and Gamespy, just so you know. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 21:45, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

By the way Guy, you are an awesome Wikipedian, and I love that you are helping whip the Video Games wikiproject into shape, but I hope at some point you will return to working on articles like you used to, because you were really awesome at it and turned whole topics from junk to gold. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 23:50, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
Hey Guy, could you do me a HUGE favor? Drop everything and come over to the Super Smash Bros. Brawl Featured article candidacy. We desperately need someone to copyedit the article from the perspective of someone who has never heard of technology or video games, so it will be readable by a laymen. You are one of the best copyediters I've seen, and we need one :) If your around, it would be much appreciated. I doubt there will be too much to do. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 19:40, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
It's good just knowing you were going to help :) Judgesurreal777 (talk) 16:42, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Super Space Invaders '91

I noticed you were looking for a source in the SI article. I found this. http://www.taitolegends2.com/game.aspx?GID=A88D24FA-2A75-489C-9648-98BF04E11DCD Asher196 (talk) 16:08, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Ok, let's try this favor :)

I am trying hard but totally unsuccessfully to merge in the Final Fantasy (video game) and Final Fantasy II game information templates into the main template at the top, since they haven't gotten the message that all that information goes at the top template now. FFII is really easy, only one, FFI is a bunch of little ones. If you could help me with that, it would be great cause I think you might know what to do. Anyway, that's just if your around :) Judgesurreal777 (talk) 04:34, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

yes, so that the main info box at the top of the article contains all the release information of every variety, and in FFI and II, the boxes are broken up and all over the place. FFII is a snap, FFI is a favor :) Judgesurreal777 (talk) 15:02, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Exactly. I tried to do it myself, but lost my mind and got confused during the process. Why don't we just merge all of it for now, and later if it is too much it can be modified. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 15:56, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks so much!

Your peer review of 4X is very thorough. I've been following it as you've gone along, and waiting until you were done. I will likely incorporate most of your suggestions this weekend. I'm looking forward to raising this article to FA-status. Thanks again! Randomran (talk) 19:02, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

The Original Barnstar
Since I've become more involved in Wikipedia, I've noticed your contributions to all parts of Wikipedia life. I've seen you settle edit wars, answer questions, mediate conflicts, find reliable references, guide newcomers, improve policies, guidelines and templates... and each and every time you were both thorough and fair. All that, and you still find time to advance articles towards FA-status. Even with your peer review of 4X, you didn't just help with copy-editing. You explained the importance of every single suggestion and taught me to be a better writer. I've been looking to give out my first barnstar, and with the hundreds of wikipedians I've crossed paths with I can't think of anybody more deserving. Cheers, Randomran (talk) 03:59, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Me again

That annoying friend is back again, only this time I noticed we still haven't fixed up that World of Mario RPG article...and I was wondering where in the article history did it have good referencing? It was some time before you re wrote it, so I want to find that, and add the referencing in to the re-written article to try again for GA status before people think it isn't notable. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 05:50, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Probably should merge it, along with the characters article now or later. That way, Good/later Featured RPG, and then a GA on RPG music. We should maybe just do it, it would build up the work being done on the other Mario RPG games. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 16:11, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

MrKIA11

Hey, I was wondering if you'd be willing to co-nominate Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/MrKIA11. Cheers, JACOPLANE • 2008-07-29 23:37

I'd be happy to assist, he's very deserving of it. One question though, I was under the assumption that nominations came from admins; is it an issue if I am not one? (Guyinblack25 talk 00:48, 30 July 2008 (UTC))

Aerith

Hi. I noticed you hid the info from ScrewAttack, and I was curious why. The link to it works fine on my PC. The Prince (talk) 14:52, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

I added the required info to the cite web template. When citing videos like this one, should {{cite video}} be used instead, or is that up to the user adding it? In FFXI, you can see the GT ref (no. 32) formatted with cite video. The Prince (talk) 15:45, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Vol. 3 FAC

I've replied to some of your comments about Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses). I will address the remaining issues. Blackngold29 16:39, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

How's that? I changed the quote that you mentioned, but didn't eliminate any because that section is basically summing up what the critics said. I also added a sentence about the numbers. And I will switch the "Personel" and "Charting" sections which should make it a little more cronological. Thanks! Blackngold29 17:21, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Got 'em. Thanks. Blackngold29 22:16, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Not reliable?

Please, the other KH pages have Ultimanina sources and they haven't been removed, if it isn't a reliable source then why do the other KH pages still have them? I've seen those sources there for more than a month. Just because you think it isn't reliable doesn't mean it is not reliavle. --Naruto134, 00:00 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Just because it isn't an interview doesn't mean it's fake. --Naruto134, 00:00 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Fina Fantasy VII AC

Hi. Check out this edit. The user removing the unreliable sources was right in doing so, but I still think it was a little extreme. I mean, he/she removed like half of the article's development info, which I had put in there. To be honest, I'm getting a little tired of all this WP:RS crap. Obviously Wikipedia has to have reliable sources but simply removing all the information like that, just because the source is "unreliable" or whatever, is rude IMO. Anyway, I'm sorry for getting a little carried away, but I just think it's a big shame that because the source isn't IGN or GameSpot it's unreliable. A similar edit was made on the Sephiroth article here: [2], and now I'm starting to wonder if that article will ever become a GA, due to lack of OOU info. What do you think about this? The Prince (talk) 20:34, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

The FLAREgamer website is an excellent source of development info, so if you're able to track down the original source of it, that would be great. I feel exactly the same way about VG discussions: I get into these pointless discussions where I get a wall of text thrown in my face and I literally give up. People can also be really rude and condescending which makes you feel really bad for the rest of the day. I think in the near future, I'll stick to editing video games and not VG characters. There simply isn't enough real-world content available for the characters that I want to get to GA. Anyway, I'm not gonna bother you anymore. Thanks for the reply. The Prince (talk) 17:36, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Re: Congrats on the Lunar GA

Thanks for your support of the SSSC GA. I'll try and work up some more Lunar articles when I get a chance, but I figured these would be the most definitive of the series so I started here. Good to meet a fellow fan! Nall (talk) 15:55, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

User:Guyinblack25/Sandbox

I only had a chance to skim it. It's a very dense article. Even the article size suggests that a split might make sense. Even "How to research a video game article" might make for a good split. It's tough because I encourage conciseness as much as possible, but believe this comprehensive set of instructions is hugely helpful too. And this is definitely helpful. At a bare minimum, it should be an essay such as User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 1a: redundancy exercises. But I think it has value being in the actual sidebar for Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games... perhaps in the section for "Manual of Style", where we offer article guidelines, and a list of reliable sources? I'm thinking outloud. Randomran (talk) 06:00, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks a lot^_^. My grammar is a big problem since Im still learning English so the copyedit is highly necessary.Tintor2 (talk) 16:44, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Hello, regarding the proposals

I agree that they're excessive, but I brought them as part of a compromise with Cirt as per here. I'm working very hard to try and get anything regarding audited articles included in the Good Topics proposal. It's quite frustrating to be honest, seeing as how 1) this was originally my proposal and he knicked it from right under me and 2) every other editor who has voiced an opinion on this so far (there have been 6 or 7) has agreed with me. If you want to give input at the conversation I linked, I would really appreciate it - rst20xx (talk) 01:12, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Cirt's taken a step back, so I've put it on hold. Sorry about that - rst20xx (talk) 13:44, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Re:WT:FTC

Thanks for the message, which is much appreciated. While I agree striving to improve Wikipedia's quality isn't a waste of time, I really feel that the proposals on the table are a waste of time. Each proposal I've read has gaping flaws. While it'd be great if all articles of a topic were FA or GA, some cannot achieve that - this is why some articles have to be audited of course. As having an X amount of FAs is made more and more mandatory, it penalises those topics which have been improved as much as is realistically possible. You've written a few FAs etc. yourself, so you know how the availability of sources vary according to article.

I'm not against change as such, but it'd be great if everyone could settle on a specific criteria. There are so many proposals currently doing the rounds I have lost count, and the process is anything but stable at present. If I went to FAC with an article right now, I have a good idea what I'm heading for. If I went to FTC though, I wouldn't. To me, they're trying to fix something which isn't even broken.
