Requests for your VG Page redesign

I tried to edit some things I'd like to see in your design located at User:Guyinblack25/Sandbox myself, but I'm no good with Wikipedia table syntax. In fact, I really the new elements you introduce, but it retains some things of the old design I really don't like. The sidebar extension is also really nicely done. These things will probably take some time (I tried for 30 min and then gave up myself), so feel free to decline this request. I hope you'll be able to spend less time on it than I did because you originally wrote the page itself. Note that I'm not really trying to change your proposal, but rather seeking another version of it. Feel free to edit my own userspace if you so desire. My requests are as follows, and mostly seek to "combine the best of both worlds".

  • Replacement of the first section by a messagebox as on User:Krator/Sandbox3.
  • Inclusion of the to do list at the top as on User:Krator/Sandbox3.
  • (Aesthetic) Removal of all "boxed in" elements (borders, backgrounds, margins) of the left column.

The last thing is mainly to see how that looks - I'm not a big fan of "boxes within boxes within boxes" in web design, as it removes precious space (boxed design: left margin 40px. boxless: 15px.) User:Krator (t c) 21:36, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Aria of Sorrow FAC

Hey, I've nominated Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow for FA status here. Help with the current comments would be helpful, especially reducing the plot, as I'm utterly, utterly horrible at redoing my own work in that regard. Many thanks, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 02:15, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

January 2008

Hi, the recent edit you made to Kingdom Hearts (series) has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. · AndonicO Hail! 18:35, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Quite sorry. · AndonicO Hail! 18:36, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Re:List of Castlevania titles

It looks good. My only complaint is for the dates, if the ref is used for all dates, then place it with "Original release dates" to give it the appearance it is sourcing all three, otherwise it gives the appearance that some of the dates aren't sourced. Aside from that though, it appears ready for FL status. Cheers, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 01:51, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

IGN character biographies

Do you reckon the character biographies on IGN are reliable enough to be used as a source on Wikipedia? If so, could I use this link as a ref in the article about Sephiroth? The Prince (talk) 14:30, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Alright, that's great. I'm trying to find information about Sephiroth's concept and creation, but I'm not having any luck. Do you know of any websites that could be useful? The Prince (talk) 15:33, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
I haven't tried the first alternative, so I'll try that. Anyways, do you think it looks like GA material? The Prince (talk) 15:57, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Ok, thanks a lot for the input. The Prince (talk) 16:33, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi, some time ago you had posted a message to my talk page about this template, and I responded there. I haven't heard a reply from you since then, and I'm wondering if it is ok to go ahead with my idea. In a nutshell, I'm requesting to "usurp" this template name for national baseball teams, since "bb" is the two-letter sport code used by the IOC for baseball, and therefore this template would be similar to a large number of other sporting national team templates already in use ({{fb}}, {{bk}}, {{vb}}, {{hb}}, {{cr}}, {{ru}}, {{ih}}, ...) I think the "big bold" formatting template is still useful, so I would propose renaming it to something like Template:bgb or Template:bbd. What do you think? — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 17:39, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

I was trying to this artis article after Music of Kingdom Hearts. I left the article for a week, came back, and it was at AfD. I mentioned that we could use your help. Would you please take a look and cast your vote? Thanks. Taric25 (talk) 18:14, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Taric, this one is not in not as good a shape the world article was. Unless it can be expanded and properly sourced, I don't think it can stay on Wikipedia and I'm inclined to vote accordingly. Keep working on it though. Worst comes to worst, you have to start it over in your sandbox until it is expanded and sourced enough to stand on its own. But if the content and reliable sources don't exist, then the article may not be able to exist. I'd regularly save an updated copy of the wiki code in a txt file if I were you. (Guyinblack25 talk 18:57, 4 February 2008 (UTC))
Thank you for your response. I'll try my best. Taric25 (talk) 19:07, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Cloud and Sephiroth

Sorry to bother you, but could you please help me out here? The Prince (talk) 22:03, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

I have asked a sysop to step in because you, The Prince, are edit warring for nothing. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 22:11, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Sure. I wouldn't have reverted the user had he not called the ip and me a vandal. Where exactly do you want me to comment? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 22:41, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Can you begin the discussion? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 22:49, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Re: Link's Awakening

I'll try looking for development again... do you have any clue where I could find sources for the japanese reception? David Fuchs (talk) 20:40, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

I just don't see the point of using Japanese sources I can't understand and 99% of readers won't either :/ David Fuchs (talk) 22:02, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
I found the sources for sales figures and a few lines more for development, but I'm still at an utter loss at what to do for reviews. I don't think Famitsu ever reviewed the game, actually, seeing as I haven't seen any scores and it doesn't appear here under any title, japanese or american. As for other reviews, I have no clue whether they are reliable sources or not. Even Final Fantasy FAs don't have japanese language reviews (beyond famitsu). David Fuchs (talk) 01:16, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
I found a smattering of more sources, nothing major. If you still can’t support, that’s fine, but I think I’ve hit the limits of searching for development (I’ve tried searching for the game along with interviews and the names of staff members in English and Japanese.) Re: Smackdown vs Raw 2008

I've converted it to a small prose, with room for expansion. If people revert it back (which I can imagine a few people could), I might just need to ask for admin intervention to finally solve the problem. RobJ1981 (talk) 23:40, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

oddworld talk page

just to clarify: the typo comment was regarding the anon's pointedly addressing me as an editor (note italics) further up (i mistyped/spelled 'editor' as 'editer' in one of my edit summaries). Bridies (talk) 19:04, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Is up at Featured Article candidacy. If you have a chance, scan it and see if it needs anything else to pass FA, cause I'm sure the microscopes will come out soon :) Judgesurreal777 (talk) 21:21, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

I'll start digging for reception as well, but don't worry about having not played them, its a good thing as it will help cast a neutral eye on the article and what can be cut, though you should play them sometime, especially Secret of Mana, amazing games. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 22:23, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
I started a reception chart, here it is, maybe we could draft a Reception section in your sandbox and then put it up! I am filling it in based on the Kingdom Hearts series reception box. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 22:57, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
If you could do some of the text part (sales, stuff), I will fill in the chart and then join you. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 23:07, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Ok, chart is complete, now I'll try to start writing a reception section, though any help would be awesome! :) Judgesurreal777 (talk) 23:31, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Nice, beat me to it! :) Yay Judgesurreal777 (talk) 23:32, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks much guy! Judgesurreal777 (talk) 00:55, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Ok, got a ton of notes, but got most of them fixed, what we need to do now is copyedit the thing, and trim the common elements section. Ashnard was asking about the Gameplay section, and its structure. I was wondering if you could compare it to your Kingdom Hearts series article, cause he says it doesn't flow right. Is it him? Or is it like the Kingdom Hearts series article and therefore ok? I personally prefer the Kingdom Hearts structure.Judgesurreal777 (talk) 01:52, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
By the way, I can't believe this happened, I thought this would fly through! :) Also, you don't have to do anything more to help, you have done so much already, I don't want to impose upon you, I just get excited that this might actually make it! Judgesurreal777 (talk) 02:09, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I trimmed the common elements section, restructured the gameplay section. Phew! Now, they want us to fill in the gameplay section a little more, and this:
"The second paragraph of the (history) section just detail factors that seem quite unrelated to the development process, and seems to be a reiteration of the "games" section. Try some specific development with games and basically a more comprehensive section about how the series developed from one stage into another. Try mentioning how the series gradually gained in popularity, and maybe an emphasis in the changes in representation of the series/graphics, or how the developers took a new approach. Basically, more behind-the-scenes context."

Just keeping you updated! Judgesurreal777 (talk) 23:08, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

All concerns currently addressed, :) Yay! I forgot I had it in me to do a FA! If you need any help now that your getting busy, let me know. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 04:39, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is now an FA!

Many thanks for all your help. Cheers, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 00:39, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

I got this weird impulse to improve this terrible article, and I had a question for you. How do you think the story and character sections are formatted? I am trying to decide how to shrink them and make them Featured-like quality, but am unsure what to do. Your thought are highly valued and appreciated :) Judgesurreal777 (talk) 21:57, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

About the story section; should I tell the story in the chronological order of the story, or the release order? Judgesurreal777 (talk) 23:38, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow FT

I've nominated Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, List of characters in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow, Soma Cruz, and Alucard (Castlevania) for a featured topic here. Fruits of long labor, no? Comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 01:45, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

vgreviews

I'm trying to add a vgreviews box to Big_Brain_Academy:_Wii_Degree. I have the first five entries in the code, but only the first is showing on the page. I must have missed some syntax. I based it on the same kind of box at Wii_sports#Reception which I think was your work based on the history. Can you check, and correct, my work? Thanks. --Daddy.twins (talk) 14:50, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the help on that template. I didn't realize (obviously) that the Reviewer Code was so important. I have the template page on my watch list now. Thanks again. --Daddy.twins (talk) 15:27, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

World of SMRPG

Hi. A user removed some content from the reception section of this article. I'm not sure if the content should have been removed or not, and since you know more about the article than I, could you please leave a comment at the talk page? The Prince (talk) 20:53, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Thank you so much for your help improving the Mana (series) article. If that passes and Metroid Prime does too, I will have three FA nominations to my name (first was J. R. R. Tolkien from 2006. :) Congrats on Wii Sports too! I just wanted to let you know that I'm gearing up to try to get Final Fantasy XI to Featured Status to help revive, as you have done, the Final Fantasy Wikiproject, and maybe get my fourth one :) By the way, your GA's on your accomplishments page could probably make FA one of these days, like World of and Music of Kingdom Hearts and even Org 13 as they are really good! Judgesurreal777 (talk) 05:53, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks again for the Mana help, I couldn't have done it without you. :) Judgesurreal777 (talk) 04:09, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Do you have any suggestions on where I could find a free use image for FFXI? I am not sure where to look. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 23:04, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
I believe I have addressed your concerns with Final Fantasy XI, let me know if there are more. :) Judgesurreal777 (talk) 23:22, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Once again, all points addressed, added a reference too! Judgesurreal777 (talk) 23:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Images

I don't know if he's right or wrong on this one, but User:FightingStreet claims that images can't be placed left under sub-headings whatsoever. As far as the guideline goes (WP:MOS#Images) it looks like it's right, but I don't know if I believe it. What do you think? The Prince (talk) 17:30, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the input. One more thing: this edit by FightingStreet made the gameplay image appear all the way down in the development section, where it's completely irrelevant. I don't believe that that can be correct. The Prince (talk) 17:52, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Could you take a look at the organization of this article? I think it is a huge mess, and I'm not sure how to re arrange it. I always arrange an article first and then start filling it in :) Judgesurreal777 (talk) 18:36, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

[[1]] Here is a link to my sandbox, in it is a bunch of music-related references that you can use to fill in the series article music section that I started. Also, there are three articles that you can probably merge into the series article; Hyrule, Master Sword, Triforce. User:Kariteh did the same thing with a bunch of Mana articles when he created Mana (series). Anyway, those are suggestions :) Judgesurreal777 (talk) 16:43, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

List of Halo media FLC

Hi, thank you for commenting on Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of official Halo series media and improving the list by separating the tables (which must have taken some time). I believe the other issue you raised (citations) has been resolved and was wondering if you would switch to support. If you don't think it is adequately sourced or you have more reason to oppose please bring it up at the FLC so the list can be improved further. Thanks for your time.
