Your addition of artist Enam Bosokah's artwork is welcome to the page's gallery, but choice of the portrait of Rose Dieng-Kuntz is problematic. Foremost: it is quite unremarkable for what it is; there are already fine examples of photorealist portraiture on the page, and Mr. Bosokah's rendition does not add to or even equal neither the level nor variety of mastery of the ballpoint art medium which the page strives to illustrate (on top of that it seems like a veiled promo directing traffic to Dieng-Kuntz' wiki). Unless you can ask the artist for a finer example of ballpoint pen artwork, I'll be deleting that portrait from the gallery. With all due respect to all-the-above. Penwatchdog (talk) 13:20, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Penwatchdog Dieng-Kuntz is dead, I don't see the "veiled promo directing traffic" problem. The choice of portrait was one of the three available on Commons, I have no preference.
- Your description of his work appears subjective to me (but who's wouldn't be). Apart from 2 of the others in the gallery, he actually has a WP-article (started by me). Also, it's the only portrait of a contemporary person, that she has a WP-article is not a drawback. Also, fwiw, atm only artist there from southern hemisphere. IMO, it fits well enough.
- Btw, if you're interested in the topic, have you considered making a "Ballpoint pen art" category?
- Ping to @Vexations, if you feel like having an opinion. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:52, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

If someone has the know-how, interest and time to make a Ballpoint pen art 'category' (I'm assuming that'd be as a box at the bottom of the article linking all related?) of course that would be a very positive and welcome addition to the page.
- No intention to throw shade with my 'veiled promo' comment about Dieng-Kuntz; it was an incidental/secondary concern anyway.
- Main point: the insertion of that particular drawing by Bosokah into the gallery. Not a subjective matter, and available art data doesn't make insertion oblligatory, especially given the page is already full of images and I've already solicited other artists -- some with WP-articles, some notable but without -- to 'donate' for posterity.
- By the way, already have work-in-progress additions to the Ballpoint pen artwork article (including a 'BIC Collection' exhibition in which Bosokah was included). A 'Publication' section is also being compiled. Appreciate it if you can flow any further input through me first so's not to interfere with upcoming changes to the page as a whole. Penwatchdog (talk) 13:56, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
- I meant a category, like Category:Drawing (probably a subcat to that one), to put topic related stuff in. Either Category:Ballpoint pen artwork or Category:Ballpoint pen artists. Yes, it's subjective, clearly within editorial discretion. Like I said, IMO it fits well enough. With Appreciate it if you can flow any further input through me first, I think you're approaching WP:OWN territory, editing should be discussed at the talkpage as necessary, but I see no reason not to be WP:BOLD if I think it's a good idea. Use Template:Under construction or similar when applicable.
- That said, I don't have any deep insights into the topic (won't stop me from editing), though I've gotten the impression that African bp-artists is a "thing". If I come across any good sources I may edit. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:11, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
Question from DearestHaley (22:35, 18 April 2022)
Hi Gråbergs! I've just made an edit to the British Bingo page. Can you please review this? I'm sure it's alright but I'd appreciate some input from a senior member of Wikipedia. Thank you! --DearestHaley (talk) 22:35, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, I forgot to link! https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Bingo_(British_version) DearestHaley (talk) 22:36, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
- @DearestHaley, that ([2]) looks all kinds of excellent to me. Doesn't make sense, and sourcing the whatever to the whatever's own webpage is very dubious here per WP:ABOUTSELF, WP:PROPORTION etc etc. If The Times writes about them they may be worth mentioning. Hello, I'm Hajrakhala. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Ghalib have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Hajrakhala (talk) 12:17, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- I don't remember adding any WP:EL to that article, but it seems you meant "Further reading." Why do you consider an article about the subject in a WP:RS inappropriate for an encyclopedia? Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Ghalib. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Hajrakhala (talk) 14:01, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

@Jenhawk777@Gareth Griffith-Jones@Xover, some more culture for the weekend. This is from 2016 (and 1878, of course), but rather witty. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:23, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- OMG! I admit to laughing at anything that makes fun of Trump, but I also admit I just don't get body-part humor. Why is a picture of a penis funny? It isn't dressed funny or doing anything amusing. There are no cats. No dog slobber. It isn't jumping off a building into a small tub of water. I am thinking it might be necessary to be a guy and into comparisons and measuring and all that stuff that guys seem to care about that just makes women snort and walk away in order to get why this is amusing. Now ridiculing Trump? That's funny. Everyone gets that. The penis? Meh. I have someone that has one that I get to look at anytime I want. Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:45, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oohh, you asked for it now. That said, the earlier penis-thing was more interesting than funny. But don't you find any humor in stuff like quote "Why not use a penis picture with more racial ambiguity to it?" THe question makes perfect sense in the WP-context but yeesh... - You are one crazy Swede! I don't know any other Swedes, except the ones I watch on tv, which I am assuming are non-representative since they are all dark and depressed and you are all the way at the opposite end! How could racial ambiguity even be represented - I mean considering? I take that to be a serious question - which is of course humorous in itself, but you're right - yeesh! - I would assert that penises (penii?) are inherently funny. I mean think about their biological and evolutionary function. What drugged out science fiction author came up with that idea? Or the fact that guys can—and do!—perform a move dubbed "the helicopter" with it. Or that it, anthropologically speaking, has been depicted as massive and (literally) rock-hard symbols of virility, even though it spends most of its time as a flaccid and shrunken appendage tucked away in an article of clothing that is the groinal equivalent of a sports bra. Or that their nemesis is… cold water. And that's not even getting into all the spectacularly dumb stuff guys do at the behest of their littler friend. Oh, or that they give it names. Like "Stanley". …! Or, hey, the blatant but subconscious ways guys tend to… compensate… for… something… Not naming any names, but there's a certain kind of man that is inordinately fond of fondling or putting their name on large phallus-shaped objects. But, of course, mostly they're funny because we all have such hangups about all the external sexual characteristics of the human mammal. All jokes have an element of surprise or thwarted expectations in them, and subjects that are slightly taboo but still at the forefront of the audience's mind are easy to manoeuvre in order to manipulate expectations. And we definitely need more penis humour to break down some of those hangups, because, sadly, a lot of the time the stuff that guys do "at the behest of their little friend", just ain't funny! Just to clarify
It's not that I didn't like your version of the lead, it's just that my experience with GAs and FAs tells me the lead needs to be a bit more engaging. I think we tend to get stuck in the exact verbage of MOS (text must be in the body in order to include it in the lead) and we tend to forget that the lead is an overall summary (which includes the photographs and other images). It also doesn't have to be verbatim - artifacts could refer to a number of different things but for the sake of clarity for our readers, it helps to name a few of the artifacts independently (the photos speak a thousand words about the museum). There is quite a bit more educational material that can be added to that article if you're up for it, including the historic significance of why certain artifacts in the museum are notable. Atsme 💬 📧 21:17, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
- My view is that WP:LEAD is a good idea to follow. It's good WP-style. A museum having photos is not surprising. "Educational" also goes without saying and sounds vaguely promo-ish, and "notable" is WP-jargon. alt text is good idea. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:03, 16 May 2022 (UTC)

I have finally finished two difficult articles and have done everything ass backwards with maximum drama. I have been going a little bit bat-shit crazy.Jenhawk777 (talk) 04:55, 28 May 2022 (UTC)
- Nothing comes to mind, so we're good. I have been focusing on new articles, and a so-and-so dared to put my article on a Slovenian silversmith up for afd, but it turned out ok. I put a picture in the article I captioned "ornamental tree", but after some more reading I had to change it to "reliquary", embarrassing. I can always blame the uploader for not putting that in the description.
- Christianization of the Roman Empire as diffusion of innovation, huh? That sounds. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:44, 28 May 2022 (UTC)
- That sounds what? Did you mean to finish that sentence? Christianization of the Roman Empire as diffusion of innovation is a subpage of a particular POV, but that's okay now since I split it from the main article that is now just general overviews instead. Thank you for putting up with me. Congrats on the afd, and don't feel bad about the caption. I've done that before and unless the correct info is with the image, there is little you can do. It's happened to all of us. I need to get peer reviews and then put these up for GA - again. I am clearly a glutton for punishment. Jenhawk777 (talk) 21:56, 28 May 2022 (UTC)

- That we are all gluttons for punishment here? I think you may be right. That may very well be the one thing we all have in common. Oh jeez... What does that actually say about us? I have asked for a peer review of CRE as doi before attempting anything else with it. These two articles have produced some passionate responses. Take a look if you have time, but don't worry about it if you don't. I do sometimes miss my 'collaborator'. I'm sorry I haven't done more on humor. I should have time to pick it up here soon. Time sometimes gets away from me if you know what I mean. Jenhawk777 (talk) 16:10, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

Question from Beautifulscarlet (13:25, 7 June 2022)
Hi there, you have been appointed my mentor. Could you explain how I could upload pictures to wikipedia. I'm looking to improve my home towns wikipedia page. thanks --Beautifulscarlet (talk) 13:25, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Beautifulscarlet, welcome and hope you'll like Wikipedia! It depends. WP, and the site we keep most pics on, Commons, are both very careful about copyright. The default assumption is that any random online picture can't be used because copyright, longer version of that: Wikipedia:Image use policy. However, you are welcome to upload any pic you have taken yourself with your own camera. That process starts here. Hope this helps. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:45, 7 June 2022 (UTC)

I’m not sure how to engage in this forum, but I am seeking clarification on why @Warofdreams deemed it appropriate to edit and remove my contributions on Chris Keats. The information on Wiki was outdated. Chris Keates did step down for breach of statute. The hearing was held on 9 October 2019 by the Certification Officer Sarah Bedwell. The decision was published and the edits by me are extracted directly from the Certification Office decision on the Case Parlour v NASUWT. The edits i made are accurate; in the public domain already and are of public interest.

Question from Yolkflix on Samantha Ruth Prabhu (05:03, 12 July 2022)
Hello Samantha father is a telugu man but he hails from Tamilnadu only, even Samantha herself said in an interview once her father is from tn --Yolkflix (talk) 05:03, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Yolkflix, hello. The article is a WP:BLP (read that), so you need a good source, like an article in The Hindu, and you also have to learn how to add the cite/reference to the article correctly, WP:TUTORIAL can help with that (and even then, it's possible that other editors may disagree with you it should be in the article).
- If you edit from a phone, it may be easier to use the desktop view, so you see the WP-pages as they appear on a laptop. Hope this helps some. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:24, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

Lily32241, Harry Styles topics, & following me around
Hello! User @ Lily32241 seems to have a history of disruptive editing already but in my case it is making me feel very harassed. They seem to keep an eye on pages & sections of Harry Styles articles I edit so they can explicitly excise references to sexuality, and sometimes other challenging topics like race. They do this to other editors too, and even have in the past repeatedly removed the reference to Starfox the comics character being pansexual on his page, even though they have no other history of comics editing, presumably because Styles plays him in a movie. Cue confused comics editors on that page! Besides this, they basically only contribute occasional chart information. It seems very clear to me that they are disinterested in expanding knowledge on Wikipedia (they create no pages and rarely add anything substantial) and are fixated on making sure Styles is percieved in the straightest and least controversial way possible while still being forced to contend with reality that he is a fluid, androgynous, and complicated figure in the culture.
What can be done about this? I think it would be wrong to simply say "don't edit Styles related topics" but I find this fixation upsetting and I don't feel like the editing is in good faith. H-influenzae (talk) 13:11, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- I see this (you both anyway) is at ANI atm, that may lead to something. I an not familiar with Lily32241 or their editing, but on "fixation", you did write this:[6]. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:55, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- To be fair, since April I have contributed to WP in many other ways and have expanded my purview far beyond his personal life. I rose to anger at that point because I was very frustrated.
- It appears I may be topic banned from editing for anything related to Styles, though they are taking a while to agree upon if I should. This seems a bit extreme but I am not an admin. H-influenzae (talk) 21:00, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- Am now concerned I may get in even more trouble because I suggested I may use a different account to avoid people following me around. I didn't realize that was against the rules, even if you had no plans to edit your old pages. There are a lot of rules at Wikipedia that are different than on other websites, it is very hard to know all of them. H-influenzae (talk) 21:03, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- My assertions that Lily32241 was following me around were not listened to by administrators. I am not sure why. Perhaps there was more evidence I should have provided? H-influenzae (talk) 21:05, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- The ANI seems to go reasonably well (based on what I expected, anyway). Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:14, 14 July 2022 (UTC)

Hello
I’m Abiola John and I’m new here !
I’m not an act student but I have a story to share which I have been taking classes but still I don’t know how to start my book ! How do I go about it ? --Abiola John (talk) 16:47, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- If you want to know how to write a book which includes personal experiences do NOT start here. This is an encyclopedia. We do research in secondary sources, on limited topics, and attempt to present what others have done in a short and neutral summary. That's it. No joy here for book writers. Try Youtube. Jenhawk777 (talk) 21:57, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Abiola John Hello! Sorry for the late reply. Like Jenhawk said, "share a story" is not what WP is for, this website is more constricted than that. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:44, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
Hello!
I am now on the third total rewrite of the same article and have been totally neglecting everything and everyone as a result of this obsession. I live in hope. I wish I could stop. Thinking of you! Jenhawk777 (talk) 21:52, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Jenhawk777 Hi Jenhawk! I've been of WP for a bit but I'm back. Compared to many other parts of the world, Sweden has had a quite normal summer, weather-wise. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:41, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
- I'm so glad to hear from you! We are having a normal summer too, which is to say normally hot. I don't know if anyone would notice if it was any hotter because it always seems too hot to breathe. We stay inside. Or go to the beach where there is always a breeze. I have all kinds of yard work I am just not doing. Weeds be damned! On WP I am letting go and moving on this summer. I have accepted that I am never going to get the two articles on Christianization approved. I retitled the one, reorganized the other - for the third time. I posted on the neutrality notice board asking for comment. Nothing. I've just accepted these are going nowhere. At Bible I have figured out that as long as I let the other editor be in charge, we can get along. It means leaving those unverifiable bundled references that I absolutely know are not all correctly used, but so be it. No one but me will ever go to the trouble of trying to verify them. So I am accepting my losses and moving on. I am thinking of attempting to create a couple of biographies, and I have not done one before. Have you? Any advice? Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:39, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
- I have created a few (User:Gråbergs_Gråa_Sång#Articles_I_created), Pamela Balash-Webber was the latest one. They tend to be rather short, and I'm something of a WP:BLP-fanatic, rules-wise. My reading of that policy is "when in doubt, exclude." If they're about living people, don't forget WP:ABOUTSELF sources, they can be quite useful. Sometimes you can get good hits at Youtube, see Ken_Nwosu#External_links. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:16, 10 August 2022 (UTC)

Whistling Dragonslayer (talk) 19:47, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Whistling Dragonslayer Did you check WP:BRD? Basically, start with talking to the editor you have a disagreement with. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:53, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- I have no idea how to talk with the editor who removed all of the verifiable links I put in. He/ She simply deleted them.

- In this particular case, it's User talk:Warofdreams. You can see that at the Edit history tab at Chris Keates. However, you are now in a WP:EDITWAR with more than one editor, and should start a discussion at the article talkpage. If you want to learn how to make edits to WP that can "stick", you need to learn how to add references correctly, this is essential. See WP:TUTORIAL. See also WP:BLP, very important. Question from Beautifulscarlet (12:09, 5 September 2022)
Hi Gråbergs Gråa Sång, I've added a montage onto the Bradford page. Is it possible to check to make sure I have gone through the correct procedures. Here is a link to my montage. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bradford_montage_2022.jpg --Beautifulscarlet (talk) 12:09, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Beautifulscarlet, looks fine to me. Are you sure that's not Paris? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:30, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Lol, unfortunately not. Thanks for the help especially involving Alexis who gave me some good pointers in putting together a montage. Wondering what to do next, maybe something that involves history as I really like that as a subject. Thanks once again. Beautifulscarlet (talk) 15:28, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Ping to @Alexis Jazz so they know there's praise. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:27, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Gråbergs Gråa Sång, my upload montage has been removed. How do I go about getting it being reinstated. An editor said the previous montage was okay and a couple of the pictures I used were not good enough. I actually think the images I chose were better. Beautifulscarlet (talk) 20:05, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Beautifulscarlet, the Wool Exchange photo is a bit dark. I tried to make a lighter version. You should discuss on Talk:Bradford which montage should be used. A vote (WP:RFC) could also be started there if a regular discussion doesn't result in consensus. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 03:39, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks Alexis, it seems another editor has put my montage back on the Bradford page so I will see what happens next. You've done a great job with the Wool Exchange image which is a Grade 1 listed building and is actually now a Waterstones book shop. I appreciate both your advice and that from Gråbergs Gråa Sång. Beautifulscarlet (talk) 09:34, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Beautifulscarlet Ah, disagreement! It happens. I don't know if you've found the edithistory pages yet, in this case Bradford: Revision history.
- Up to this point, both you and the editor who reverted you with the ES "nothing wrong with previous collage. If you want to add new one get a better photo of the cathedral and better photo of the city hall." are behaving as Wikipedians should. You were WP:BOLD, they disagreed and reverted, that's ok. And another editor reverted again, that's also fine. Things may or may not stay like that.
- But the next step is to talk about it at the talkpage. IMO what is "best" here is quite subjective, there are no firm "rules" at WP:LEADIMAGE (though I like "your" pic of the Bradford Cathedral better), but if there is disagreement, try to reach a consensus by talking to the other 2. Others may join in. If attempt to discuss fail, there are other WP:DR to try. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:28, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- I'm surmising the montage will be changed again (hopefully not), if this happens I will go to the Bradford talk page and open up a discussion. Thanks once again for the information Gråbergs Gråa Sång Beautifulscarlet (talk) 10:44, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Question from Beautifulscarlet (10:20, 8 August 2022)
Hi there, do you know how to make a montage using wiki media photos. I'm hoping to add a montage to my home town Wikipedia page. --Beautifulscarlet (talk) 10:20, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Beautifulscarlet Hello again! Something like the leadimage at Paris? Never tried to do that myself, Wikipedia:Collage tips may have some helpful guidance. Try checking the wikitext/code of an article that does it like you want to do it, and copy the way that article do it.
- You can also consider a gallery like at History_of_Diving_Museum#Gallery. If you check the wikitext (click "edit source" in that section) it's not that complicated. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:05, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
- If only I lived in Paris, but yes exactly those sort of images. Thanks for the information, I will use Wikipedia Collage tips and see if it helps. Thanks once again. Beautifulscarlet (talk) 13:16, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Beautifulscarlet I note that people make these in different ways, compare for example by clicking the leadpics at Bradford and Paris. Or Shakespeare authorship question. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:33, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz, any sage advice on the above question? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:36, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- Beautifulscarlet, if you create the montage as a new image: when picking photos try to make sure their license is valid. If a photo has no EXIF metadata you should probably skip it. If it was uploaded by someone who hasn't uploaded anything else, skip it. Try to find photos that are part of a series/album by the author. The issue otherwise is that if one photo is deleted due to a questionable license, the whole montage could get deleted as well.
Also indicate very clearly which photos are the source for the montage. Use only photos that are already available on Wikimedia. If you want to use a freely licensed photo from Flickr for example, import the original photo first.
A few alternatives for a new image file, from the top of my head: {{Multiple image}} or a packed-hover gallery. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 21:44, 12 August 2022 (UTC)- Thanks Alexis, sorry for the delay in replying. I've now uploaded a montage and have hopefully followed your advice. Thanks once again. Hello Gråbergs Gråa Sång , thanks for the input on the Bradford talk page new Bradford montage thread. Is there any way of widening the debate by getting more editors involved?Beautifulscarlet (talk) 15:59, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Beautifulscarlet, yes! Well, one can try, anyway. If you look near the top at Talk:Bradford, you'll see some wikiprojects listed, they are like interest-groups, and they have talkpages. See WP:APPNOTE on how to do it, something like "There is a discussion about the leadimage at Talk:Bradford#the_new_Bradford_montage, your input is welcome" is recommended. Question from Beautifulscarlet (00:34, 13 September 2022)
Hello Gråbergs Gråa Sång, here's some drone footage of my home city, at 6.11 at the top of the screen you can see the two domes and the four spires of the grand mosque in the distance. You get a general idea about the distance from Bradford city centre to Little Horton from this footage. It is quite a climb from the city centre to Little Horton and the railway I mentioned did traverse some quite steep inclines went through many tunnels and across two large viaducts further out of the city on its way to Keighley hence the name Alpine Railway. It also passed through some stunning countryside. Alas the railway was never profitable and was closed to passengers in the early 1950's and to freight in the 60's. We enjoy travelling on scenic railways and will shortly be riding the Trondheim to Bodo train as we have a short holiday break in Norway.

- @Beautifulscarlet Yeah, I don't doubt it, but: This ref you added [7] is a WP:SPS (someone named Phil Robinson it seems), and it's unclear to me what the importance of that is to the mosque, I see nothing about Alpine at Bradford or City of Bradford (I'm of course quite ignorant of all things Bradford). Still, it seems fairly harmless and I won't remove it. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 05:53, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
- The ref you added here [8] was a great find, btw. I used it some more and it strengthens the case that the Bradford Grand Mosque article should be on WP. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:08, 13 September 2022 (UTC)

- @Beautifulscarlet Google is the place to start, but a lot of what one gets there is not fit for WP-use. And of course, WP:PAYWALL is a bother. Depending on what you're looking for, https://archive.org/ can give you results in old books etc, and when you've been here awhile you can get access to the WP:LIBRARY. See also WP:RX. - I see no glaring problems, and text is quite readable. My knee-jerk reaction is that this lead seems too long and detailed. My rule of thumb is that a lead should almost never include specifics like according to A.W.A. Cairns, former editor of the Stafford Magazine, "many were what became known as Staffordshire Bull Terriers." I have not compared the lead to the body, so I don't know if there are WP:LEAD issues there. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:31, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Question from RacheleRK (01:31, 21 September 2022)
Why do so many of the entries that need work described as like an advertisement? Some feel like this but many do not. --RacheleRK (talk) 01:31, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
- @RacheleRK WP:PROMOTION is a problem on WP, and one of the things many of "us" really dislike, since it's not what this place is for. It has many forms, and editors can disagree on what is promo and not, there are grey areas. If you see such a banner and think "this has been dealt with", you can WP:BOLDly remove it, and if someone disagrees they will put it back (or discuss with you). Neuroonkologi
Hello Gråbergs Gråa Sång, is it ok for you to show about 48 References from German article in Swedish article? Most References are in English. Regards, Wname1 (talk) 14:38, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I understand the question. Do you intend to make an article about Neuro-oncology on sv-WP based on the corresponding article on de-WP? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:13, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
- If so, you can read sv-WP:s thoughts on that at Wikipedia:Översättningsrekommendationer and Wikipedia:Trovärdiga källor (medicin) Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:18, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry for my late reply. The article is on my Swedish site Användare:Wname1 now, but still needs to be extended like e.g. the topic References.
- It's not a topic I'm interested in. Try sv-WP. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:14, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
Offline sources
Hey thanks for the reply at teahouse. Can I upload the file in google drive and attach the url for reference? 202.164.130.27 (talk) 09:00, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- Quoting the second editor who responded to you: "What you should not normally do is to try to upload the PDF somewhere. In many cases this would be a copyright violation anyway, and Wikipedia does not permit links to material which violates copyright. But even if there is no copyright issue, putting a PDF up on a random website is not publishing it reliably: how do we know that it is what you say it is? That it hasn't been altered? That's what the "reliable" bit in "reliable source" means: that the publisher has a reputation for fact-checking and editorial control"
- If you check the article Skeeter Reece you'll see some examples on using off-line sources. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:08, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
September music
Thank you for your work on the Sibelius opera and other works! The rose pic was taken on 11 Sep 2021, and this year was full of music that day, Tag des offenen Denkmals, not only singing in church and rehearsals for Verdi's Requiem, but two concerts at special places pictured, one a synagogue (pictured on its wall). Today three DYK: a piece we'll perform on Sunday, a violinist we heard in June playing the Berg Concerto (my brother played in the orchestra), and a Youth Orchestra shaped by a conductor who recently died. Almost too much of a good thing. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:25, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

DYK for Skeeter Reece
On 4 October 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Skeeter Reece, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that when Rain Pryor drew a picture of her friend Skeeter the unicycling clown in school, her teacher said that there were no Black clowns? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Skeeter Reece. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Skeeter Reece), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

- @BDE2016 Based on the messages on your talkpage, see WP:COPYPASTE, WP:GNG and WP:NORG. Your first (not only) hurdle is WP:GNG. Based on the criteria you read there, what are the 3 best sources about Blackstar Diversified Enterprises you can think of? Not company websites, blogs, wikis, etc etc.
- Creating an acceptable WP-article without any previous WP-experience is hard, and it is recommended to get some experience in how this place works first. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:52, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
Hey guess what happened! No don't, I'll tell you! You know I got into all kinds of trouble in the process of editing the original Christianization article. More than one editor hated enough of the content (one said it sounded like a sermon) that I ended up just removing it all last May. I have rewritten the whole dang thing three times now! I moved on to other things for a bit, but always intended to eventually get back to fighting it through for GA. In the meantime, another editor came along, reorganized it and added back in all that material I had taken out!!!! I was so shocked I didn't know what to do! I just said thank you! They really did a great job and I was so pleased I almost cried! I would love it if you would take a look and tell me what you think. If you feel like it! You know I value your opinion highly - but don't let that go to your head!! HAH! Jenhawk777 (talk) 16:29, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- 13,588 words... Well, it's not the longest WP-thing I've read about today [9]. I'll take a look. And I got a DYK (not scheduled yet) for my article. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:02, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- Awesome! Congrats! I see the cn tags - both of those sentences were added by the other editor. I didn't object because they are common knowledge. Aren't some things that are undisputed common knowledge allowed? It doesn't say he did miracles just that his followers attributed them to him. There is certainly no disagreement there. I can find sources if you think it's really necessary. Grumble grumble gripe... Just because it's you though. I would argue with someone else ... oh wait ... Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:29, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

- Politics is the only thing I know of more likely to produce conflict than religion. The article was interesting though. I am not a Fox News fan. I had not previously considered it even factually reliable - at least not in my experience - so I quit watching it long, long ago - even long before Trump. You know, I think, how I feel about him. I am becoming a big Liz Cheney fan though!
- Do you mean GA is easily available? Not in my experience. I suppose it depends upon the reviewer, but I haven't had an easy one yet. I've had difficult and brutal. Does this mean you don't think it should be GA? Does it not meet the criteria? You just don't like it? What? Or do you mean the sources for those sentences should be easily available in other articles and that GA would want them? That may be true, but I will google scholar it myself of course!! Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:44, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- No, I meant sources for the cn:s may be easily available in related WP-articles, and that a GA reviewer will probably not like "loose ends." And I have watched some of your GA/FA struggles, I know they're not easy, especially not with a Jenhawk-sized article like this one. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:50, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

- Yes! For every detail! I am not as good at the details as the computer software people that hang out here, and I am sometimes a little intimidated by them and their ability to spot the tiniest of things - so yes, every comma, every jot and tittle - I am grateful for any and all you have done. But you have done much, much more than just a comma. I ran out of time this afternoon sending you thanx, and if I could I would send you a million. I am overwhelmed with your wonderfully generous response to my request for help. You're amazing. Thank you seems insufficient, but there it is - thank you. I do kind of have a good excuse. My mother died this spring, handling her estate has been like detangling spaghetti, and my sister "appropriated" just over $100,000 out of the bank account that should have been part of the estate, but now is going to be impossible to find. She did something like this to me years ago, but I thought mother's death was bringing us back together. I was happy even while I was sad. Turns out she was shining me on so she could get my cooperation for the paperwork she needed to take the money. It's kind of blown my mind. I've been grieving and angry and feeling betrayed and stupid all at the same time. I am glad the three amigos are still together - or together again - still amigos at any rate. I've been editing the article (and the related White Lodging) solely because I saw an issue about it at BLP/N yesterday. The company's article seems to cover all that's needed about the man. Im a musician rapper & singer and want help on doing my own page where people or my fans can read about me.can you help me with editing? --TonyAlso7 (talk) 23:23, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
- @TonyAlso7, my "help" will probably boil down to "Don't try, it's a waste of time." Longer version, read this page: Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing.
- Your first (not only) hurdle is WP:N, WP:s "rule" on "Should we have an article on [whatever it is]?" So, based on that, what are the 3-5 best sources you know that are at the same time reliably published (WP:RS), independent of you, and about you in some detail? This excludes blogs, wikis, your websites/social media etc etc. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:42, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
