Proposed deletion of Jack Farr

[edit]

The article Jack Farr has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I'm seeing much to compel actually keeping this as it simply seemed like a one-time event and my searches basically only found some coverage from that time, no lasting or otherwise considerable coverage to suggest better. At best, if a better article is available, this would be mentioned with a "2004 Guantanamo Bay" article or such, not a separate biography article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Hi Geo Swan, I know you have lots of Guantanamo Bay drafts (very old drafts) and notes but I was looking at User:Geo Swan/gbay/Salen Abdul Salem Ghereby and some others which concern me at the moment. As the page is, since there aren't any sources and Ghereby looks like a living person, the page on its own is a BLP violation (regardless of the fact that it is parroting allegations, it's still an unsourced allegation that a living person was at the least accused being a member of a terrorist organization). What do you think? -- Ricky81682 (talk) 07:12, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how else to contact you. My name is Leona Sykes and I am the mother of Laura Vanessa Sykes, the young woman who fell to her death from the 148th floor of the Burj Khalifa. I have all the evidence to prove it. Please connect with me on my google+ page — Preceding unsigned comment added by 197.88.6.117 (talkcontribs) 14:10, 29 December 2015

  • Ms Sykes,
  1. My condolences over the loss of your daughter.
  2. Have I written about your daughter somewhere?
  3. If you are wondering about whether the wikipedia should cover your daughter's death, or if you are wondering whether there should be an article devoted to your daughter...
    1. Wikipedia contributors watch to make sure other contributors stick to certain principles -- like that the wikipedia is not a "publisher of original thought". The article on Burj Khalifa can cover deaths there, provided books or newspapers wrote about them. Any explanations of her death would have to be a summary or paraphrase of what a reliable source said about the death.
    2. Some wikipedia contributors devote their energy to making sure all the wikipedia's articles on individuals measure up to certain notability criteria. I know, from experience, that some of those contributors can be quite dogged about a particular criteria. I know almost nothing about your daughter, but I can assure you that unless there was some other aspect of her life that was "notable", beyond her death, they would argue that coverage of her death belonged in the Burj Khalifa article, not in a standalone article.
If you want to have a private discussion of your daughter, or whether there shoudl be a standalone article about her, please create a wikipedia ID of your own, and then you can use the "email this user" button to send me a private email.
Let me repeat my condolences. Geo Swan (talk) 22:32, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
