Asib tracks no

[edit]

Hey, so I still don’t see why we should include this information in her biography and not leave it just in the album’s article. Its clearly stated in the opening sentence that she co-wrote and co-produced the soundtrack. Isn’t that enough ? ArturSik (talk) 12:41, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What I said in my edit summary and the fact that you don't see an album with 30+ tracks (which includes simple dialogues, covers and original songs) everyday are why I firmly believe it is relevant in Gaga's as well as Cooper's article. FrB.TG (talk) 16:38, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Potential collab?

[edit]

Hi FrB.TG, hope all is well. I was thinking of branching out and trying out a biography article - would you be at all interested in collaborating on Willam Belli? Not entirely sure if you're familiar with Willam's work, but thought it could be a fun project to try something new. ceranthor 15:36, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I can assist you with some expansion and formatting, but not so much involved to be called its coauthor. Let me know when you start your work on it. FrB.TG (talk) 18:53, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks. ceranthor 17:05, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Frank, been a while. How are things with your good self? BTW, Kailash29792 and I have listed this article about a 1959 cult classic film in Tamil cinema for peer reviewing with the intention of preparing it for FAC and subsequently taking it to FA. Your constructive comments would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 05:22, 2 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I'm very well - thanks. Good luck with your PR and eventual possible FAC. FrB.TG (talk) 17:58, 2 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bradley Cooper scheduled for TFA

[edit]

This is to let you know that the Bradley Cooper article has been scheduled as today's featured article for January 5, 2019. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/January 5, 2019, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so.

We also suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors on the day before and the day of this TFA. Thanks! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:09, 8 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you "the recipient of People's "Sexiest Man Alive" in 2011, though it's more of "Sexiest White Man Alive". Aside from the so-called accolade, he is a talented actor, having found his breakthrough in his mid 30s in late 2000s. The article was promoted on 1st of September by Jaguar who passed it straight away and found it to be FAC material"! I am happy that it worked his birthday after promotion!! Also:

Hi. I was wondering if you could review the 'Artistry' section of the article. I expanded it few weeks ago but wouldn't want to clutter the article with redundant information, and since you're familiar with the article and topic I guess you'd know exactly what the section should contain and what should go. Also, I'm a bit concerned about the flow. I feel like the first paragraph is a bit choppy and jumps from one subject to another. Hope to hear back from you soon. Best. ArturSik (talk) 19:59, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Will have a look soon. FrB.TG (talk) 17:10, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Any interest in a collab?

I'm thinking of working up Alex Borstein, having fallen in love with her again after watching The Marvelous Miss Maisel. Any interest in working on it together? ceranthor 02:36, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ceranthor, yeah sure why not? FrB.TG (talk) 13:43, 18 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Great. I'm going to try to compile some sources to work with this weekend, since I'm a bit busy with projects at the moment. By the way, if you have any down time, I just started a peer review for Newberry Volcano, which I'm hoping to take to FAC in the next month or two. ceranthor 14:04, 18 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Emma Stone

[edit]

You appear to have experience editing the biography of Emma Stone. I've recently done some citations clean-up on her last film The Favourite and have been looking for someone who might be able to take up doing the GAN assessment. Any interest? CodexJustin (talk) 15:30, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

PR by me and Kailash29792

[edit]

I was hoping you could also post some comments at the PR of this 1978 Tamil film, Mullum Malarum. It is considered to be a breakthrough for Rajinikanth as an actor and protagonist as he was mainly into antagonist and supporting roles at the time. A fellow editor and friend of mine, Kailash29792, is planning to take this article to FA. Please do help him out as he is making a fourth attempt at FA for this film. The PR for Mullum Malarum is right here.

Also another thing. I've opened up a peer review of my own for my next attempt at an FA. This article is about Kal Ho Naa Ho, a 2003 Indian Hindi film that has Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. Please do have a look at the article and post your comments at the peer review for Kal Ho Naa Ho, the link for which is right here. Do let me know when you post your comments at the peer reviews of both the articles. Thanks.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 12:44, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ssven2, I'm not sure if I'll be able to mange three reviews, as I am currently reviewing The Favorite for GA. If time allows, I'll definitely try leaving comments for KHNH at its possible FAC if not PR. FrB.TG (talk) 10:15, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, Frank. But I feel that you can help out Kailash with Mullum Malarum. He needs the improvement more than I do for KHNH as it is his 4th attempt at FAC after the PR. So, a good list of constructive comments would be useful at Mullum Malarum's PR. Thanks.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 11:58, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Scarlett Johansson scheduled for TFA

[edit]

This is to let you know that Scarlett Johansson has been scheduled as WP:TFA for 30 May 2019. Please check that the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/May 30, 2019. Thanks! Ealdgyth - Talk 23:41, 17 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Dank and Ealdgyth: if possible, can you schedule another article for that day please? I have another date in mind for her main page appearance (not her 35th birthday). Thank you. FrB.TG (talk) 13:21, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't get pinged by your last edit, FrB .... you have to sign after you ping someone or add them to a ping for it to work. I'm not involved in scheduling. I think Ealdgyth saw your ping, and I'll email her to make sure. On the upside ... I did manage to come up with a blurb that I think will work, but feel free to edit it if you like ... if it doesn't run at the end of May, it will run sometime. - Dank (push to talk) 14:02, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I did not say she didn't add shows, I said the edit wasn't sourced. - FlightTime (open channel) 17:06, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@FlightTime: the thing is there is no place in the article to source the change. There’s no mention of when it’s ending in prose and we generally don’t source the tours section. FrB.TG (talk) 21:20, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Taylor Swift Edit Summary

[edit]

Hey friend, thanks for your edits on Taylor Swift. I just wanted to follow up on your comment in this edit summary in which you say we editors don't put citations in the Lead.

I had a read through the guide linked (thank you for that), and I found: "a lead section should contain no more than four well-composed paragraphs and be carefully sourced as appropriate." (emphasis added).

Further down, I also found "material that is challenged... should be supported by an inline citation."

So I was wondering if you'd be willing to reconsider your stance on that edit, given that information, or if you had further explanation? Thanks for your time. Cheers! Elfabet (talk) 12:19, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Elfabet: As you know the lead is supposed to summarize the article and so does not need to be sourced. There are sources for the “leading contemporary” statement - her dominance in earnings listings, her sales records, the countess hits and the number of awards and nominations she has received. These should be well enough I think. FrB.TG (talk) 22:45, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
FrB.TG, Thanks for your thoughts.
I think you may be misunderstanding the policy on contested material, and generalization.
I don't think you should ignore the policy which says the lead should be sourced, especially since someone added the tag, as it then, by definition, is "contested material". Our options, in such case, are to source the statement or remove it, per WP:BLP. Cheers! Elfabet (talk) 12:25, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"List" article

[edit]

Hi FrB.TG, long time no talk! How've you been? Everything here is pretty good. I'm writing to you because I know you've done lots of "List" articles before, and I actually have never done a single one and about to create my first one. The content is here: User:Moisejp/sandbox4#List_of_performances_by_the_Amps. Do you have advice about what the best name for the article would be? And any formatting or other advice? I was thinking about making one table for 1995 and another for 1996, and losing the year column, except that the series of Australian concerts (Summersault Festival) extends across both years. I see in some Lady Gaga tour lists the year is put in the date column, maybe that's the way to go.

Also, is there a page somewhere with guidelines for creating a list article? Of course I know I need to write a blurb at the beginning before the list itself, and I have sources to add for all of the dates.

I guess my most important question is what to call the article because that would be the hardest to change after the fact. Thanks in advance for any advice! Cheers, Moisejp (talk) 20:19, 29 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Moisejp, I’ve been good, hope all’s well with you. I’ll try and give some feedback and/or advice on your list very soon. FrB.TG (talk) 22:26, 30 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks so much, whenever you have time it'd be much appreciated. I've now moved it here: User:Moisejp/sandbox7. There's no big rush for your feedback because I'm currently tinkering away at adding the sources for each date, and when I finish that I have other stuff I'm working on for the band's main article and their sole album's article. I'll expand the blurb for the list at some point too. Have a good day. Moisejp (talk) 04:48, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Leonardo DiCaprio FA

[edit]

Do you think one of us should notify Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers as well? Or do you think that the FA nomination will be better off not bringing in anyone from there to comment? Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Biography looks like it will bring in no traction.

Shot in the dark

[edit]

No guts no glory, reaching out in hope of recruiting you to work a bit on the Christopher Nolan articles, all of which should easily be GA/FA with some effort. The awards article admittedly needs a bit of work though.

I completely understand if this is 100% uninteresting, please take my plea as an expression of admiration. :)

Best regards,

Sammyjankis88 (talk) 09:03, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nolan is one of my most favorite directors and I would love for his articles to be GA and eventually FA, but I'm not that active anymore. The only article I have worked on in the past 20 months is Leonardo DiCaprio's.
I completely understand, thanks for taking the time to respond. All the best! Sammyjankis88 (talk) 12:25, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Since it is a lost film you can't see it anyway, but the plot is added from the film's pressbook. All you otherwise need to do is prose-checking. Kailash29792 (talk) 10:10, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, so where am I supposed to learn what is necessary and what is unnecessary for the standards of an FA? BawinV (talk) 12:36, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@BawinV: there is no specific guideline on what's necessary and what's unnecessary in an FA, but keep in mind that WP:FA is supposed to represent the best of Wikipedia. Try to keep it as tidy as possible without any WP:UNDUE quote or information. And the sources need to be highly reliable. See this short page on what an FA should be like. FrB.TG (talk) 12:40, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Taylor Swift article

[edit]

You recently "trimmed" Taylor's "legacy" section and removed a lot of things saying they were "covered already". Did you even read it? Most of what I added isn't "covered" anywhere. Are you telling me I spent hours writing that only for you to delete them? There would be a point if they already existed, but no, most of what I added are NEW info and can only be placed under impact/legacy section. BawinV (talk) 12:17, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Most of what you have added are in fact already covered, just not as detailed as you added, meaning that it was not necessary to add that amount of details in the first place. If you have spent hours writing that stuff, I have spent hundreds of hours expanding, tidying, cleaning up the article to maintain/bring it to the FA standards. FrB.TG (talk) 12:22, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I was wondering if you could give the article a read through and copy edit it, because it hasn't been done for a long time and I've recently expanded a few sections and now that she's on a hiatus there won't be much changes happening so I think it's the right time. I requested a CE through the guild of Copy Editors a while back but I wanted to ask someone who does music articles and would be able to do more than just tweak minor grammar mistakes like remove things that are redundant etc. and since you're familiar with the article I thought I'd ask you, so if you have some spare time and would be up for it that'd be great. There's no rush. ArturSik (talk) 19:42, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sure I would love to help. I'll get to it in the next few days. FrB.TG (talk) 23:16, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thanks for your edits. Just wanted to check if you're done reviewing now, cause I've noticed you haven't made any changes in the 'Public image' section which was the one I expanded the most. But if you didn't find anything wrong with it then that's cool. Thanks. ArturSik (talk) 22:35, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, yes I think I'm done copy-editing. The public image is fine as it is. FrB.TG (talk) 19:27, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How can Lady Gaga be an unreliable source about her own life?

[edit]

Unreliable source? Isn't she the best source? Rameshvar (talk) 18:48, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Videos on Vimeo are uploaded by private users and are therefore not reliable even if it's Gaga herself in the video. We'd have to find a better alternative, a high-quality source; see WP:RS. FrB.TG (talk) 19:33, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
During Oprah's 2020 Vision Tour Visionaries: Lady Gaga Interview with full interview transcript here: www.weightwatchers.com. It happened on January 4, Lady Gaga joined Oprah Winfrey on stage for a conversation about mental health and self-care, she says: 48min00: LADY GAGA: "I do transcendental meditation. It's—it's great (...) And sometimes I can be in a ton of pain and I meditate, and it goes away. It's amazing.". Gaga, Lady (January 4, 2020). "Oprah's 2020 Vision Tour: Lady Gaga". [1]. Again, Weight Watchers is not a reliable source. Even if it shows a transcript of the interview, we would still need a high-quality reputable source. Also, it’s not even necessary to mention that she does meditation in the first place. FrB.TG (talk) 06:26, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!..so you are the lead editor of Leonardo's award page. I think you missed a lot of awards that Leo won back then like Smash Hits Poll Winners Party and else. Johhnyfrankie13 (talk) 12:48, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi FrB.TG! Hope all is well! After being idle for a while, I decided to work on trimming down the article and work on the sourcing (which was the issue at the last FAC). Not much has changed on the article prose and structure except that i had done few c/e in the last couple weeks to make it shorter. Your inputs have been valuable during PR and previous FAC. Trying my hand on bringing it back to FAC. Not sure if you're still around these days, but if you have the luxury of time, would appreciate your inputs at the FAC. Cheers! Hey bud. I've added you to the aforementioned list due to inactivity. Hopefully you'll resume editing Wikipedia articles again. If you do, then I eagerly await your return, and please remember to take your name of that page. Best wishes, SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 21:43, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@SNUGGUMS: Not sure if making some copy-edits to Leonardo DiCaprio counts as a return but here I am. FrB.TG (talk) 15:40, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

TFL notification – January 2022

[edit]

Hi, FrB.TG. I'm just posting to let you know that National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor – a list that you have been heavily involved with – has been chosen to appear on the Main Page as Today's featured list for January 10, 2022. The TFL blurb can be seen here. If you have any thoughts on the selection, please post them on my talk page or at TFL talk. Regards, Giants2008 (Talk) 22:43, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello FrB.TG, Happy New Year and hope you are doing well and safe. Not quite sure how active you are these days, but thought it'd be worth a try to ask. I'm giving the Regine Velasquez article another shot at FAC and was wondering if you have some spare time to provide your review? I would totally understand if you may be busy with other projects or IRL. Thanks and I hope you are having a great weekend! Pseud 14 (talk) 17:51, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Pseud 14, happy new year to you too. I have recently returned to editing after an inactivity of over a year. I will be happy to take a look at your FAC. FrB.TG (talk) 18:24, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sweet! Thrilled to know you're back and much appreciate your time as always! Pseud 14 (talk) 19:09, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Pseud 14. Do you maybe have time to review my FAC for Leonardo DiCaprio? There are not comments from as many as I'd hoped for in this popular actor's article. Either way, have a good rest of the day or night. FrB.TG (talk) 18:02, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hey FrB.TG, happy to look at it. I've been meaning to add my commentaries, but was looking at an active review going on at the moment. I'll definitely start in a couple of days so as not to interfere with that. Pseud 14 (talk) 18:22, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Show preview

[edit]

Please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the article will look like without actually saving it.

The "Show preview" button is right next to the "Publish changes" button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. At Katrina Kaif you made about 40 edits in less than 3 hours. Jay (talk) 03:40, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Jay, I do check previews before saving my changes. It's just that all the changes don't occur to you at once. You look for sources, you add them. You find something to copy-edit, you do it. Then you find further things to improve. This has been my way of expanding articles for as long as I can remember. FrB.TG (talk) 10:09, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, just dropped by to say that I loved what you did with the article and that I am also excited for how the FA review is going. I am trying to help with the changes as much as I can to speed up the process.

All the best! meryam90 (talk) 21 February 2022.

Meryam90, thank you. I must also commend you on your recent efforts to neutralize the personal life section. It really did read quite gossipy before. FrB.TG (talk) 14:33, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I now think we need to focus on adding to her philanthropy because I think I read somewhere that she is one of the most charitable in Bollywood and a vocal feminist. A quick search I found several sources (I donna what you could do with these)

Hope it helps!

meryam90 (talk) 21 February 2022.

I tend to get really picky when writing such sections because it's really easy for them to become an WP:UNDUE proseline of charities ("in 2010, she did this, the next year she did that.."). That said, I will further look into it and see if I can find some commentary from the media on her philanthropy, awards that she (possibly) won or the different types of issues she spoke out against. FrB.TG (talk) 15:15, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I tend to agree, but I've taken a look at some other FA pages of Bollywood actresses (ex Priyanka Chopra and Preity Zinta) and I found the humanitarian work sections refreshing to read. They also add weight to the subject matter imo. meryam90 (talk) 21 February 2022.
Good point. Considering she remains so vocal on women's issues, it's important that we discuss this in greater details there. Added some important info on this. FrB.TG (talk) 16:01, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A quid pro quo, I suppose

[edit]

Congratulations on all of those million awards! For the articles you've written and brought to FA, you deserve much more credit than you are given. Good Job!
All of that, however, was me sweet-talking you into reviewing my FAC, and you have fallen right into my trap. Muahahaha! Luckily, however, the article is fairly small, only about 40kb in size. Another FAC writer to FAC writer, you can always reach out to me for any future FACs you might have and I'll be there to review it. Granted, it might take a week... Panini! 🥪 15:26, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the kind words. I was planning to review your article the moment I saw it at FAC. So all those flattering words might’ve been unnecessary to get you what you want. ;) Expect comments soon. FrB.TG (talk) 16:31, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Robin Williams filmography to FLC

[edit]

Hi there,

I am planning to nominate Robin Williams filmography to featured list status by March 31. In fact, I have already made some changes over at User:Birdienest81/sandbox thirty-one. Since you have promoted many actors articles to FA and their filmographies to FLC, I was wondering if you could help me write the intro paragraphs to the list. I will name you as co-nominator if you do so. Otherwise, if not, can you list down what roles or performances I should mention in the introduction given that he has over 100 roles in film and television? Also, should I include his theatrical work and should I rename the article List of Robin Williams performances?

--Birdienest81talk 09:35, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Birdienest81, I would love to help out. Williams' filmography is something I've been meaning to take to FLC for years myself. I remember I started some work around six years ago but it never got anywhere. I will try to come up with a good lead in the next few days or so. FrB.TG (talk) 11:32, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Birdienest81, I am now done writing the lead. It should give a pretty decent overview of his acting career. Feel free to add/change anything that you think is missing. For some parts, I relied heavily on the biography by Emily Herbert. When you start working on the tables, remember to replace all the IMDb sources, but you probably already know this. If you need any other help with the list, let me know. FrB.TG (talk) 17:20, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

List of Robin Williams performances FLC

[edit]

Hi there,

I just initiated the nomination for List of Robin Williams performances for featured list promotion. I credited you as co-nominator because you wrote most of the intro paragraph. Feel free to respond to any comments and make improvements as suggested by any commenter. By the way, I may have wisdom tooth surgery tomorrow, so if you could help me with any corrections, please do so. Thanks.

--Birdienest81talk 09:10, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I’ll take care of the comments no problem. Good luck with your surgery. FrB.TG (talk) 09:32, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Taylor Swift's ancestry

[edit]

Hello.

I noticed that my edit to Ms. Swift's page was reverted due to an issue with the source. I went to find one from a publication, but I thought that I'd run it by you before adding it.

Here it is: https://www.sj-r.com/story/lifestyle/2019/11/26/petersburg-family-had-two-ancestors/2195957007/

Please let me know what you think of it.

O.ominirabluejack (talk) 20:37, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

O.ominirabluejack, it's certainly a better source. Thank you for checking with me, but while we are at it, is it really something worth including in her biography - being the ninth great-granddaughter of someone who was nearly not as famous in his time as Swift is now? Normally, I would add such info but because Swift's article is getting bigger than manageable, we're bound to leave out some info. FrB.TG (talk) 20:43, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, FrB.TG.
I hear what you're saying about the size, but there is quite a bit out there on the Warren connection. I just found yet another source to add.
I feel that the litmus test must be whether or not something is true. Descent from the Mayflower passengers certainly seems important to some, even if it's not to all. Deciding if it's relevant would depend on individual philosophy. As such, if there are no further objections, I'm going to add it now. It's not a particularly large reference.
Here's hoping that you're well.
O.ominirabluejack (talk) 20:57, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, go ahead and add it. The one source from Sj-r should suffice IMO. I hope that you're well too. :) FrB.TG (talk) 21:02, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Katrina Kaif scheduled for TFA

[edit]

This is to let you know that the above article has been scheduled as today's featured article for 3 May 2022. Please check that the article needs no amendments. Feel free to amend the draft blurb, which can be found at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/May 3, 2022, or to make more comments on other matters concerning the scheduling of this article at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/May 2022. I suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks and congratulations on your work.

Gog the Mild, thank you for this but could this TFA be moved to 16 July, her 39th birthday? FrB.TG (talk) 17:51, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Possibly. I note that there is already an article attempting to reserve that date at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/pending. If you could post Katrina Kaif there and ping me to let me know I will remove it from May. Note that you will then take your chances as to whether Katrina Kaif or No Panties gets the date. (I won't be scheduling July.) Gog the Mild (talk) 17:58, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Gog the Mild: it looks like someone else has posted it for next year on 16 July, which I think is a better date anyway as a 40th birthday is more eventful than 39th. FrB.TG (talk) 18:02, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I didn't check that far ahead. Just pinging in your conominator, AB01. I'll remove it from May. Gog the Mild (talk) 18:07, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. FrB.TG (talk) 18:08, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Congratulations, FrB.TG! The list you nominated, List of awards and nominations received by Anne Hathaway, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best lists on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.

DiCaprio

[edit]

I'm sorry the article had to be archived. I do hope and encourage you to take it again to FAC after checking the sources. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 07:23, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Kavyansh.Singh: no worries. This article has turned out to be a real nightmare. I've never had to spend so much time working and reworking an article for FA. One valuable thing I've learned here is to always check the sources of an article thoroughly before expanding it regardless of the supposed quality it has been rewarded. FrB.TG (talk) 07:36, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hey FrB.TG, I also hope you didn't get discouraged. I know it's your second unsuccessful nomination of it, but I say, just brush off any disappointment, go through the sources one by one, and nominate again, it should be fine. Third time lucky, right! :-) But seriously, it seems to me at least that the prose and comprehensiveness are fine, and you seem to have a good amount of support for that, just comb through the sources—which is a straightforward process (I want to say "easy" but don't want to negate the effort it takes to do a good job) because it's just verifying if the info is as stated, and if it's not then changing the info accordingly. Piece of cake! Good luck and looking forward to seeing the article back in FAC soon! Moisejp (talk) 23:14, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Moisejp. I already checked the sources almost down to the end of career section during the FAC so it won’t be a whole lot of work. Maybe I’ll give it a retry in the distant future. For now though, I’d like some break from that nightmare of an article. I took two articles to FA while that FAC was open. I’m currently working on a song article for a change and have another biography in mind for a possible FAC. Maybe after that, I’ll re-nominate. Thanks again for your encouragement. :) FrB.TG (talk) 03:28, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Given your experience in getting film-related articles to FA status, would you mind leaving comments on this PR please? BTW sorry your FAC for Leo didn't pass. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 21:59, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I’ll take a look soon for sure. :) FrB.TG (talk) 03:29, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

April 2022

[edit]

From your comments at FAC for BTS, were you stating that you would not be able to support the article unless the Impact section is redone for the BTS article, in some format more closely resembling the comparable section on Impact which you helped edit for Lady Gaga. That is, roughly the same size, and with a comparable number of reliable sources? ErnestKrause (talk) 18:18, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@ErnestKrause: the section in Gaga's article is not a blueprint for what or how much should be included. It was merely an example of what one such section could include. You can summarize the most important aspect of their image in a section no longer than one or two paragraphs (could be longer if you want). My main issue, however, is with you not using a single book or scholarly source. Remember a peer-reviewed academic piece should always trump a news source. FrB.TG (talk) 08:56, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that. There are now two versions of the Impact section for the BTS article and it might be nice if you could mention to us (co-nominator and myself) which version looks more appropriate to you in terms of your experience at FAC. Here is the new one just drafted [2], and the other one is in the Cultural impact section of the BTS article itself.
Regarding your note on best available sources, I had done a literature search at the time of GAN for the BTS article 2-3 months ago and there were nothing but fan books and adulatory books written for junior fan audiences (for example, A-Z of BTS, and Encyclopedia of BTS for Fans, etc). In the case of the Beatles after 50 years, there seem to be excellent book-length studies available today even though there were none available in the 1960s. The same seems to hold for BTS; we have over 1000 fully formatted reliable sources available in archive and 350 reliable sources in the article itself, though book-length studies are still not on any best seller lists. As I look through the Lady Gaga article, you seem to be aware of this phenomenon since the FA article for Lady Gaga uses over 95% on-line journal and newspaper articles in its References section with few book titles. I am of course going to continue to keep an eye out for new books about BTS as they are announced. It would be nice to hear your opinion about which of the two Impact sections works best from my question and link above for the enhancement of the BTS article. ErnestKrause (talk) 17:34, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
ErnestKrause, I admit the books out there on modern artists are not all worthy of use in Wikipedia, but for BTS there are some really good books. Some examples:
I checked the second book myself, and found a lot to use. Even if it is some information already used in the article, it's better to use this to cite that information instead of the news sources. Considering it is from a reliable source, it is very much worth using. You can borrow books at archive.org. The draft looks overall good. If you use more of the above sources (and similar ones), the article would be much stronger, not only 1b and 1c criteria-wise but also in terms of readability (articles relying more on academic pieces tend to be much more engaging). FrB.TG (talk) 15:14, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Good to hear your comments. When I looked through the Youna Kim book on "Soft Power", then I found it to be a specialized study on Kim's expertise in sociology and her general study of the Korean Culture Wave, moreso than with her less detailed discussion of the music group BTS. Still, if you can provide me with a link to archive.org, or a quote from the book you feel is useful, then I'll be glad to try adding it into the article myself. Youna Kim is currently teaching general sociology in Europe at the university level, though she has no pretenses to being an expert either in the Korean film "Parasite" or the music group "BTS". If you can give me the quotes though that you believe are useful to the BTS article with your citations, then I'll be glad to add them into the article as best I can. User:Gog has given us (conominator and myself) two weeks to do enhancements before renomination at FAC and I'll look forward to hearing further of your choice of recommendations. Did you have a preference for the new version of the Cultural Impact section of the article which I linked above [[3]], or should we keep the version currently in the article? ErnestKrause (talk) 15:48, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'll get to the specifics about the Routledge book later, but I recommend opening a peer review for the article and/or seeking mentorship (assuming you haven't successfully taken an article to FA before) before you renominate. You'd have better chances of having your FAC passed. FrB.TG (talk) 20:31, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It'll be interesting to see the 'specifics' you mention in your note when you can get around to it for the Routledge book you mentioned. Any chance that you could get to it sometime in the next week or two? ErnestKrause (talk) 19:44, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the delay. I’ll get to it tomorrow. FrB.TG (talk) 21:48, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There's no hurry on this. The new version of the Impact section has been added, and if there are other sections of the article which could follow the example set by your Lady Gaga article, like the career sections, then let us know. ErnestKrause (talk) 16:04, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ErnestKrause, my apologies for the constant delay. I have been trying to get to it but I haven‘t had much time for Wikipedia lately. Some of the things worth using in our Wikipedia article from the Routledge book:

  • In 2020, the Korean film Parasite won the most awards including Best Picture and Best Di- rector at the Academy Awards; the K-pop group BTS topped the US Billboard music charts and Korean TV dramas go global through streaming services such as Netflix. This timely book captures the unprecedented historic moment and reflects on the meaning of the Korean Wave that has now become a truly global and powerful phenomenon. This could be used to portray BTS‘ contribution to the global phenomenon of the Korean Wave.
  • -pop music has evolved from a niche genre to an elaborate global industry, with the BTS ecosystem contributing $4.9 billion to Korea’s GDP (Elberse and Woodham 2020). BTS’s popularity is the largest source of revenue in the genre, dominat- ing the fiercely competitive K-pop industry (Elberse and Woodham 2020). BTS’s popularity is the largest source of revenue in the genre, dominat- ing the fiercely competitive K-pop industry. I’m sure the whopping figure that BTS has contributed to their country’s GDP could find its way somewhere to the article.
  • TS of Big Hit Entertainment since their debut in 2013 has created a global phenomenon that is more widely recognized and influential. The success of K-pop bands, such as Girls’ Generation, Super Junior, Big Bang, EXO, TWICE, BTS and Blackpink, is a direct outcome of the star system’s intense training to deliver a very polished and easily identifiable show - this is a huge achievement, having influence on future successful bands.}}
  • BTS’s spectacular rise in the global pop world is more than just a digital social media phenomenon but can be attributed to the fact that it is not only a visually pleasing group, but also one that seriously pays attention to music (Kyung Hyun Kim, Chapter 6 in this volume). BTS have deviated from the conventional model and practice of the K-pop industry in terms of the relative power, freedom and creative autonomy of musicians. Whereas K-pop is traditionally associated with long-term exclusive contracts that give the talent little financial reward and little control over their own lives, the company behind BTS seeks to foster a balanced, less restrictive and less hierarchical relationship with the superstar act (Elberse and Woodham 2020). Like other K-pop groups, BTS members were recruited and manufactured through the years of intense training to deliver a total entertainment, K-pop’s formula of catchy melodies, perfectly choreographed dance performances and extremely polished visual images.
Yt at the same time, BTS formulation disrupts the K-pop regime by hav- ing a distinguishing attitude toward individuality and authenticity (John Lie, Chapter 7 in this volume). Rather than simply automated performers produced by the company, BTS as artists play key roles in producing and writing lyrics to be the personal voices of the experiences of youth. They tell their own stories and the societal pressures placed on teens in Korea, challenging the competi- tive education system and exuding the positive spirit “Love Yourself” to young people who have no dreams or no plans of their own. A very important commentary on BTS‘ artistry and what makes the band so successful.

Okay so these are some of the obvious examples that can be added in the article. Note that I haven‘t skimmed through the entire book but I‘m sure there are other worthwhile information there. Do look through them (you don‘t need to read the whole book, you could just do a ctrl + F and look for BTS) and see what else is worth adding. Note that even if some of the information in the book are already cited in the Wikipedia article by a newspaper source, I suggest using the book instead, as it tends to be more credible (provided that the publisher is notable, which applies in this case). You would need to look through other books (from credible publishers, not the fan books or ones that mirror Wikipedia) and academic journals, and see what you find there. This should give you a good starting point. I imagine it would be a lot of work but it is necessary if you want to achieve the comprehensiveness and well-researched FAC criteria. All the very best. --FrB.TG (talk) 16:53, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is my version of a possile edit based on your five suggestions above in my Sandbox, and I wanted to check if I have been fair to your edit suggestions. Could you give a glance at my Sandbox? ErnestKrause (talk) 16:43, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
ErnestKrause, I'd read that a week ago or so. The additions read very well, but I do hope you use more academic sources. FrB.TG (talk) 16:54, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for getting back. I happened to be online and thought to mention that there still seems to an abundance of adulatory fan books on BTS, and very few academic sources that do not verge into the areas of general Korean business economics or the separate topic of Korean wave, though I can remain open to new sources that might become available in the future. You seemed to have faced a similar problem with Lady Gaga who has an adundance of reliable sources, though much less by way of full-length books like the ones available for the Beatles or The Rolling Stones. Is there a way to move the BTS article forward to FAC review like you did with Lady Gaga? (I'll be happy to add that paragraph in my Sandbox anywhere in the BTS article which you think best, or to support you if you can adapt it into the BTS article at the place you see as being best for the article.) ErnestKrause (talk) 17:07, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am no expert on BTS so I cannot know for sure if it's a comprehensive account of academic studies out there. If you are fully sure that this is all there is worth adding on the subject and are fully prepared to convince the reviewers who ask this fatal question at FAC again, then you can renominate it for FA. Your additions on the sandbox look very good. I would add them in the article. FrB.TG (talk) 17:22, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nice comments of yours at the FAC for BTS. If you've time, then it would be nice to see more of your items of interest for the article which you mentioned there. ErnestKrause (talk) 23:36, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the reminder. I haven’t forgotten about it. I’ve come down with a fever but I’ll get to your FAC very soon. FrB.TG (talk) 05:46, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I know you don't like me, but I just wanted to congratulate you on the Oscar Isaac article. Well done! Krimuk2.0 (talk) 08:06, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Krimuk2.0: Thank you. I’m not sure where you got the impression that I don’t like you but I’ve always admired your contributions and I’m always grateful to you for keeping some of "my" articles up-to-date. FrB.TG (talk) 08:19, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, sounds exactly like what Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone would say to each other "on" camera. :p Krimuk2.0 (talk) 10:41, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
LOL, it’s true tho. In my early days here, I regularly used your FAs as inspirations to write mine. No pretense there. If time allows and you’re fully back like before someday, I’d love to write another FA with you like we did on the JLaw article. FrB.TG (talk) 11:19, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That would be nice. :) Krimuk2.0 (talk) 12:58, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for List of roles and awards of Oscar Isaac

[edit]

On 3 August 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article List of roles and awards of Oscar Isaac, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 2017, Oscar Isaac possibly became the first Latino actor to play Hamlet in a major US production? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/List of roles and accolades of Oscar Isaac. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, List of roles and awards of Oscar Isaac), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Source review request

[edit]

Hello again. Thank you for the support on my current FAC and your help with the peer review. I was wondering if you could do the source review for the FAC as well. Apologies for asking so much as you have already helped me a lot. I am only reaching out since I appreciated your help with the source review for my last FAC. I completely understand if you do not have the time or interest. I hope you are doing well! Aoba47 (talk) 17:59, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sure no problem. FrB.TG (talk) 21:57, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I appreciate it! Aoba47 (talk) 01:25, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed that in this edit, you clearly copied content that I wrote at Armadillo shoe without making it clear where the content originated. Please make sure to attribute when copying within Wikipedia, per the terms of our license. A note in the edit summary is sufficient for next time. I've put the {{copied}} template on the article talk page since there have been so many edits since. ♠PMC(talk) 20:39, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for not attributing. I found the analyses from Hegarty and author Robin James (the latter of which I added a few months ago) so interesting and complementary that I decided to further read those parts of both the books to see if I find anything else worth adding. All this excuse to say that between the copying and read-through, I forgot to give proper attribution. Thank you for adding it to the talk page now. FrB.TG (talk) 22:03, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, just figured it was worth mentioning since it's at FAC and all :) Cheers! ♠PMC(talk) 22:10, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
