Unblock request
FacetsOfNonStickPans (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
Today was just like any other day on Wikipedia for me. I was continuing with one of my own independent volunteer projects here which involved exploring the world through Wikipedia. In the recent past I had done a lot of editing related to India, from where I am and live currently. I wanted a short change. So I started my own little project that allowed me to explore the WikiWorld in an organised manner, even hoping that I could convert it into another Signpost article. So today I was in Eritrea. And lo and behold I was blocked from editing and my heart skipped a beat when I saw the huge message of the same. This is my first time that I have to request an unblock.
>>> IN SHORT, I request that the underlying IP be unblocked. (Despite the long story above, I know it probably has nothing to do with my editing and in lay terms is for other edits from users in the similar range.) I also used the Unblock Ticket Request System (UTRS) method by mistake. DTM (talk) 15:29, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
Decline reason:
You'll need to tell us the IP involved for us to help you. If you don't wish to post it here, you may use WP:UTRS. 331dot (talk) 16:23, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- 331dot, this is what the block message says "...Editing from 2401:4900:0:0:0:0:0:0/32 has been blocked (disabled) by Materialscientist...". My IP is visible online as 2401:4900:168f:12b0:4173:f424:1398:a55a DTM (talk) 04:50, 12 October 2021 (UTC)

- Yamla; I always edit with this Wikipedia account. Out of the 20,000+ edits I have made, I may have only made one or two edits logged out, that too in the past and by mistake. So what else should I do? I am still getting the same message and am not able to edit Wikipedia as I have been doing these past few months. DTM (talk) 09:51, 12 October 2021 (UTC)

2nd/3rd Unblock request
I am following what it says on Wikipedia:Autoblock.
- Step 1. Log in to my account.
- Step 2. Check if sandbox can be edited. No, I can not edit my sandbox.
- Step 3. Unblock request template. Paste the code at the bottom of your user talk page, and click save. This shouldn't apply— If you cannot edit your own talk page, use the Unblock Ticket Request System to make your request.
Using this template below once more. I am leaving the template blank because filling in the details above didn't help or I filled it incorrectly.
I request the admin/sysop to see the screenshot I have placed here. That is the error message I am getting. DTM (talk) 10:27, 12 October 2021 (UTC)

Copyedit
Hello:
The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Line of Control has been completed.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. There are a number of places in the article where the information needs to be updated. I would suggest you identify these and try to find more recent information before submitting it for GA consideration. While I was editing the article another user removed information on sniper deaths. Their reason for doing so is unclear to me. I am assuming they view the Indian Army's reporting is exaggerated or wrong from the edit summary.
Best of luck with the GAN when you get to it.
Regards,
Twofingered Typist (talk) 19:39, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
- Twofingered Typist, thank you for the copyedit and the comments/insight!
- Before a GAN I will be sure to make the additions, patiently. DTM (talk) 08:49, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
IP block exemption
Hi DTM, if you are getting stuck in a range block, you might need to apply for a WP:IP block exemption. Have you looked into that? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 21:23, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hi K3, yes, more than once with different appeals. It was only when admin/sysop Yamla pinged admin/sysop Materialscientist above and linked the Block log, that I realised the importance of the CheckUser keyword. The (UTRS) appeal also clearly displays the same under 'Block reason'.
- I guess now I just have to wait for Materialscientist. I sent a gentle prod email to Materialscientist of the same. I will wait for a reply.

LAC is live, territory loss, non-committal and doctrine of force
User:Kautilya3, a very important retrospective quote from Takshashila's recent discussion document that acknowledges territory loss:
In spring of 2020, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) occupied fresh territory on the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control and prevented Indian troops from patrolling where they have for several years, resulting in the deaths of soldiers on the border for the first time in 45 years. India now has a live border with China—militarised and disputed—undoing the work of several years.[1]
This can be summarised to add weightage to the intro/lede/body of 2020–2021 China–India skirmishes. Nothing new, but a solid quote with a notable list of authors. (If I am blocked permanently please do add this if you feel it will serve the purpose.) One of the authors wrote a follow-up opinion piece with some interesting phrases. DTM (talk) 05:02, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act (2019)
Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act (2019) you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of TrangaBellam -- TrangaBellam (talk) 18:00, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
Time to axe India Today?
Sushant Singh comments on the PLA video releases and, in the article, links to the Wikipedia section B._Santosh_Babu#Death. This is the first time I have seen anybody do so.
I haven't looked at the section before. I now see that it is loaded with India Today narratives, which have been quite suspect throughout the Modi Raj. It may be time to take it to WP:RSN so that we don't get stuck in infamy. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 07:11, 16 October 2021 (UTC)
- Kautilya3, B. Santosh Babu does not have too many India Today sources. Out of the 27 references, three are from India Today. However, as you point out, they have been used multiple times with a lot of content taken out from it in the section on his death. In general that article needs a lot of work to meet Wikipedia B quality standard.
- "This is the first time I have seen anybody do so." I've raised this issue with you once before with another author on Wikipedia. So the second time...
- I personally scan every single reference, irrespective of country and media house, against Wikipedia guidelines and policies irrespective of whether it has been flagged or not. Every Wikipedia editor has his own methods and prejudices and timelines for this. As for RSN and WP:RSP, every widely used source should go through some sort of reliability discussion, thats what RSN and RSP are for. (The reliability of the discussion about the reliability of the reference is another matter altogether, but something that Wikipedia processes are able to manage). DTM (talk) 12:31, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
- I read the section a bit more carefully. DTM (talk) 14:45, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

Incidentally, Richard Temple's map is already present on commons. I notice that you uploaded a low-res cut out. Can you get it deleted? We can cut whatever we want from the original.
You would be pleased to note that Nathu La is not marked on this map. And Gangtok doesn't exist! I am sure all those "silk route" afficianados will have a heart attack. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 17:59, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
- I requested a speedy delete over at commons.
- Yes! Nathu La is not marked. This is the case with so many maps. Here is a randomly selected sample. Red crosses and green ticks represent whether Nathu La is marked or not. Orange crosses and purple ticks represent whether Gangtok is marked or not.

- No, this is not a "statistical" issue. Nathu La wasn't marked on the 1881 map because Gangtok didn't yet exist. (If you recall, it was just being built in 1873, as per Edgar's report.) The royals were building a new palace there, not sure why, even though Tumlong was still the capital. In 1894, the capital was shifted to Gangtok. It was only around then that Nathu La would have come into regular use.
- Nathu La is a better route from the Tibetan side. But Jelep La continued to be used because Kalimpong was a better destination. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 22:37, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

Map set
A set of four images. Is there any fifth or sixth... image that could be added to this set? DTM (talk) 17:21, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
I don't think these are correct. Pakistan has not defined the eastern border of its claim. Neither has China defined its western border officially. Whatever is depicted on Chinese maps changes practically every year, anyway, and it definitely doesn't match what India or any other country draws. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 20:43, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
- Kautilya3; Here is another source to support this diagram. pg 8.[2] You removed the map set from Kashmir Conflict. I am adding this back with this source. Your revert edit summary stated "we need better sources for documenting "national stances""... this source covers the map. So now we have two sources for the same. To be more exact, OpenStreetMap can be mentioned/ relied upon as has been done with various OSM maps in 2020–2021 China–India skirmishes and articles such as Longju and Pangda. DTM (talk) 03:29, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- I am afraid you fundamentally misunderstand what the sources say. They are only depicting lines of administration, not claims. They might say XY area is also claimed by Z. But that does not mean that they know precisely Z's claim line. You simply can't label these as "national stances", unless you have official maps published by these countries by authorised agencies. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 11:28, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- Kautilya3; This book (pg 305; Figure 7.28)[1] says "claim" with a nice diagram of Kashmir elaborating the same. There are some deviations which have been noted and will be incorporated as per the other two references here. And I will remove the phrase "national stance". How about that? I've changed it to "Controlled/administered and claimed territory in Kashmir". This is strictly as per the words used by the references. DTM (talk) 09:29, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- This map is the same as earlier. Administrative boundaries. "Claims" stated, not claim lines.
- Why don't you just reproduce Figure 7.28? Why do you need many maps? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 10:52, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- Kautilya3; following your mention of "official maps", here are two more links to back up this map set, specifically to back up claims. Official maps:
- Kautilya3; This book (pg 305; Figure 7.28)[1] says "claim" with a nice diagram of Kashmir elaborating the same. There are some deviations which have been noted and will be incorporated as per the other two references here. And I will remove the phrase "national stance". How about that? - This source from Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik also represents claims of Pakistan, India and China in different maps. They even show the undefined border. They use the same references we are using in this conversation.[4]
- To answer your question, individual maps are visually more clear in conveying claims. Further, once detail and complexities are introduced such as that Pakistan's claim in western Ladakh is not defined, presenting this all on one map makes it bulky. This is not only for readers who interact with Kashmir a lot, but for those who are seeing a map of Kashmir for the first time. It provides more visual clarity than a single map, even though both may ultimately convey the same information.
- This map set does not aim to replace usage of any current maps related to Kashmir on Wikipedia. This includes the most commonly used maps-
- Further, these two maps above do not intend to represent claims in the first place, other than the top one showing disputed area between India and China. It says nothing of official claims by India and Pakistan with respect to each other, also taking into account the ceasefire line. (edit though the caption could be framed in such a way, but I am laying more emphasis on visuals here)
- When you say, why not in one map, there is already one in commons. However this does not show the undefined border of Pakistan. Also, compare this with the map set. The map set conveys the claims visually much faster, and can also include more complexities without making a single map too bulky.
- DTM (talk) 04:01, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
- Simply put, I think representing claims on different maps is visually more clear. That's all. DTM (talk) 04:11, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
- Maybe rather than using the word "claim", some other word could be used, more relevant to cartography DTM (talk) 04:22, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
- DTM (talk) 04:01, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
Both Fowler&fowler and I, who have done the most writing on the Kashmir conflict issues, have always supported putting the CIA map on our pages and nothing else. Various claims that the individual countries make are of no value whatsover, except to appease their nationalist populations. If the Wikimedia tells us that we are legally required to include any claim maps, I will ask them to get the copyright released for the official maps, and then I will include them without any comment.
The DWP paper that you have cited, which is quite valuable, has an official map of the Survey of Pakistan. The only difference between that and the CIA map is that it extends the LOC across Siachen. And, we know that that is facutally false. The LOC is defined in a signed document, and it ends at NJ9842. And then the eastern border is "undefined". Why do we need a picture to say that something is undefined? It can be said in words equally well.
The Chinese claims map in the paper are reproduced from Al Jazeera, which was just made up by a journalist with no authenticity whatsoever. Newspapers are only reliable for "news", not for archivable information. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 15:03, 21 November 2021 (UTC)

Hunger and nutrition and food and malnutrition and hunger and hunger and hunger
I am not sure if there is already an article covering this and what it should be called:
Or just pack it in with all the other impacts:
Does this come under:
Is the interpretation one that includes Afghanistan or just refers to an undivided India under the current boundaries? Or is it an abstract concept, a catchphrase, like:
Or maybe this line of thought is an emotional over-reaction based on some news headlines and it is still not notable enough according to Wikipedia guidelines and policies to create a separate article.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
Create a draft then. Clinically, while editing M. S. Swaminathan, this line of thought, his dream of, and his practical efforts towards, zero hunger, is so so so far away. The farmers' protest goes on. The hundreds of recommendations of the expert committees. The rankings of hunger and nutrition.
(If you're wondering what this is, it is just a reminder for myself to see if new articles are required, or if content needs to be added into existing ones. Some words I am just randomly adding and ending with which mean nothing- We know the answers. Not the solutions.)

- "Global World Hunger (GHI) index ... ranked Afghanistan at 103, just two positions after India, which was ranked 101."[7] It can't be that bad. Then again, I don't think food rankings help us in understanding such situations.

Akthar Mohammed of Kangori, a remote hamlet in the mountains of northern Afghanistan, had a large family and no food for them. He had a terrible choice to make. He was offered wheat in exchange for his sons, Sher and Baz, aged ten and five. He gave up his sons and heartbrokenly, but candidly, said, “I miss my sons, but there was nothing to eat.”[10]

Another one line bites the dust?
This is funny... funny in reference to the process of coming to this stage on OSM... as if someone who is trying to make the line, throws up their hands and says, I give up. If this is thought out, it is nothing new, but nevertheless surreal. (Note to readers: OSM keeps updating, the map may not look the same tomorrow, so what is being referenced may disappear... speaking of updates, a snapshot indeed...). DTM (talk) 07:19, 18 December 2021 (UTC)
- Some other people also quizzed me about the missing China-India border. The problem is that I don't even know whom to complain to. We know that the Wikipedia's mapping engine takes months-old data from OSM. That means that it is reflecting some old data, which may now be gone. I went through the Ladakh boundary yesterday and fixed all the bugs I could find. It was quite a task. (They were not serious bugs, but it all depends on how seriously the rendering enging is taking them.) I haven't looked at the rest of the border yet. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 21:30, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
- Well, it is not bugs. It is India. On Sentinel, only those pieces of the border that match with India's IB are being shown. Other bits removed. As a retaliation to India's edicts, they have also completely removed Arunachal.
- On Wikipedia, we are at least seeing the state boundaries. But for Arunachal, even the state boundaries are gone.

Collaboration effort
- Kautilya3, hey! we have spent quite sometime with maps on Wikipedia over a range of articles. Lets create a short write-up about mapping with reference to this region on Wikipedia or... you suggest some points and directions for the write-up... For a Signpost article since I have no where else to publish it and it is best to keep this within the confines of Wikipedia. Further this write-up can then be more Wikipedia specific. DTM (talk) 07:36, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah, sounds like a good idea. You are the lead on this, being the Signpost pro! -- Kautilya3 (talk) 14:18, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

- Kautilya3; This is what I had in mind Draft:Wikipedia:Good practices for Wikipedia editors related to Kashmir... just a start but this should give a better sense of what I intend. It is for Wikipedia space and not userspace as this needs multiple editors. DTM (talk) 04:33, 21 December 2021 (UTC)

FINAL LOCATION—
- Hi DTM, I don't know if the Wikipedia spae is meant for local issues of this kind. But anything like this would have to normally originate from WT:INDIA and WT:PAK, and that would happen only if Kashmir becomes a burning problem. But right now, the burning problem is China. Take a look at Talk:Debt-trap diplomacy. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 14:36, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
Proposal
Stage 1: Brainstorming
- Title - Proposal to develop consensus on good practices related to the representation of the Kashmir
conflictdispute and associated regions on maps on Wikipedia. - Objective 1 - The proposal, through discussion, aims to develop some examples, map sets, as suggested templates.
- Objective 2 - Explanations developed through consensus will be provided for preference for specific maps.
- Objective 3 - Articles which also represent Kashmir through maps must use more than one map. An explanation for this will be developed.
- Scope - This only refers to a handful of articles related to the Kashmir conflict.

Before 'several others

- First you should have this discussion on Talk:Kashmir, not on your user talk page. Second, there is only one map, the CIA map being used in all Kashmir subregion articles (and Kashmir as well). It is based on a hard-won consensus in
- Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics/Archive_69#A_proposal_for_Kashmir-related_pages_on_this_notable_day_for_India_and_Pakistan and
- Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics/Archive_69#Uniform_format_for_infobox_of_Kashmir-related_first-order_division_articles. Over a dozen administrators were on board. I don't see any value in your proposal. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 13:26, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
- Fowler&fowler, thank you for the reply. I do note all of this and the links add to this greatly. I guess your reply is a reflection of how I brought this up with very minimal information. You've already shot ahead. This covers more than that map. A lot more. Next, this is talking of good practices. Advisory stuff. A CBM effort. And why Talk:Kashmir? Placing it there restricts the scope of the discussion. Let me see if I can think of a better location (say since talk pages don't allow visual editing), other than what you have suggested. My fault for throwing half-baked draft objectives at you for brainstorming... nevertheless the few points have helped. DTM (talk) 13:05, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
- Fowler&fowler; As I tagged K3 above, this
is what I intend.—Draft:Wikipedia:Good practices for Wikipedia editors related to Kashmir— It is just a start but this should give you a better idea of what I intend. Since this discussion should be in one location, and other editors need to be informed, I will leave a message on WikiProject pages, and then direct everything to the talk page of the draft. DTM (talk) 04:37, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
- Fowler&fowler; As I tagged K3 above, this
FINAL LOCATION—
- I suggest that you not engage in this silliness. I see your edits thus far in general Kashmir-related articles as politely but determinedly promoting the official Indian POV, and inadvertently perhaps the Hindu nationalist POV. You have not given evidence in your edits of the kind of neutrality that is needed for writing such an essay. I see no mention on WT:INDIA or Pakistan either. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 12:41, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
- You're welcome to try of course but I doubt a one size will fit all approach is going to work. Regardless, I've tagged the talk page of the draft so that all editors are aware of DS in the area and will continue to monitor the discussion. I assume that both you as well as f&f are aware of the DS sanctions in this area and so am not going to template either of you. Please do confirm this though, for clarity :) --RegentsPark (comment) 15:47, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, I am. But I don't know when I received the template. Please template me again, so I can put it in a prominent place on my talk page Fowler&fowler«Talk» 16:53, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not going to template either of you, I don't think that's an issue at all. My concern is that the topic often attracts editors who aren't able to leave their biases at home. --RegentsPark (comment) 22:42, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
- @DiplomatTesterMan: Allow me to apologize for my intemperate outburst above. I did not get enough sleep last night. When I happened upon your post this morning, I was more cranky than usual. Having now taken a nap and hopefully, more alert, allow me to rephrase my objection.
- First, I don't think you are a POV-pusher in the sense of someone who has been deliberately promoting biased content. Your article Shaheen Bagh protests in my limited cursory reading of it some time ago was an admirable attempt at being neutral and written in the best traditions of Wikipedia.
- Second, Kashmir is a different type of issue. Entire nations have blind spots there, even their most liberal media. It has been that way since 1947 through liberal and conservative governments alike in South Asia.
- Third, Third-party sources are needed. In my view, it is best that their descriptions, assessments, consensuses, and disagreements play out on the individual Kashmir-related pages (including their characterizations of the various national POVs) rather an in a meta essay. The reason is that the third-party sources differ on different aspects of the issue, and one essay covering the whole ground will become both rambling and confusing to a novice Wikipedia reader.
- Fourth, a meta essay might also become a battleground for the various national POVs, which the Kashmir-related pages with their more limited compass might avoid becoming.
- Fifth, To consider an example: contrasted with many countries in the West, nationalism came a century later to South Asia and China. The kinds of referendums and decision-making taking place in Canada (Quebec), the UK (Scotland) for a referendum for secession, West- and East Germany (for union), Czechoslovakia (for partition into the Czech Republic and Slovakia), or the Soviet Union for a devolution into the various independent countries (Slovenia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakstan, ...) are nowhere on the horizon in South Asia or China. (And even in the West, the US is notoriously more attached to territoriality than Canada.) Without restricting to third-party sources how do you even begin to characterize such antecedents on the topic of the plebiscite in Kashmir?
- Sixth, How do you characterize Human Rights in Kashmir, where the various national governments do their level best to curtail the flow of information?
- As RegentsPark, stated above, a "one size fits all" approach will not be fruitful.
- I apologize again for imputing motives to you that I now consider uncharacteristic of your history. Best, Fowler&fowler«Talk» 21:43, 21 December 2021 (UTC)

Kashmiri Hindu Exodus Related
- I wanted to request you to take note of some points regarding the K.H. Exodus Page, as I may have to take some time away from Wikipedia.
- Many scholars have noted the Kashmiri Hindu migration in the reign of Sikandar Shah Miri (also known as Sikandar Butshikan),(1389-1413 as the first exodus of Kashmiri Hindus.

Kashmiri Pandits... When the first exodus took place during the time of Sikander Butshiken
- I think the widely cited oppression of the Kashmiri Hindus in the reign of Sikandar Shah Miri (1389-1413) deserves a brief mention in the lead, or at least in the beginning of the Background.
- Please note extensive Citations below mentioning persecution in Kashmiri Hindus and Buddhists under Sikandar Butshikan's reign.

DTMExplained: Deletion of Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus and AFD reason 'propaganda'
I nominated Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus for deletion (AFD) at 22:03, 3 January 2022 and wrote one word for the reason "propaganda".
This was based on the article in general, how it was being edited by others during my interaction with the article, and the talk page conversations. But the AFD immediately succeeded an edit by another Wikipedia user, Fowler&fowler, where a quote (That this House commemorates with deep sadness...
) was compressed and replaced by "a motion expressed in one sentence about a subject of interest of the nominator, but rarely discussed". Here both of us aren't abiding by Wikipedia policies in various way, and there is a severe lack of good faith. The current state of the article shows this lack of good faith.
Kautilya3 is correct when they wrote over at the ANI - Well, it won't be the first time somebody lost their head over Kashmir. DiplomatTesterMan, please take a break and cool off.
I read this today and thank you for the comment, I did take a break. It is funny how the ANI section is titled "Compromised account".
Fowler&fowler pushed India towards a FA, I guess I should listen to that argument. My action should not have been an AFD, but a simple message pointing all this out on the talk page. I have stayed away from the article since the AFD and am ready to stay away long term in the same way I have stayed away from the article Crowd control in Jammu and Kashmir which I also nominated for deletion in 2019. However, I think I can work out and figure how to stay with the exodus talk page this time. DTM (talk) 11:07, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- I suspected that somebody had breached into your devices. Btw, nice to see you back. TrangaBellam (talk) 11:13, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- I have sadly long lost interest in that article. All the best to you and your co-authors. You have carte blanche to take out whatever portion I added at whatever intance of its past to bring it to your mutual liking. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 15:59, 5 February 2022 (UTC)

- Nor is it clearly not called 2022 Karnataka hijab and saffron scarves row... just thinking of the visuals everywhere. The Wikipedia users who have spent time on the Wikipedia article have given the article quite a bit of depth!
- They have so many names!- Types of hijab. Reminds me of the parent articles 'Clothing in India' and 'History of clothing in the Indian subcontinent'. Oh just imagine fashion designers did a show on all this! Does this come under- Ministry of Textiles, no, from the Wikipedia article it seems this is a law and order situation. Sigh. National Institute of Fashion Technology studies this right? DTM (talk) 13:53, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

- Juggyevil; hi; In principle (theory) I would even agree to a speedyX2 delete. But then that would/could be rash with this article (history). I do think it will be deleted though, one or two speedy/delete/keep comments will clear things up.
- Meanwhile,

WikiCup 2022 March newsletter
And so ends the first round of the WikiCup. Last year anyone who scored more than zero points moved on to Round 2, but this was not the case this year, and a score of 13 or more was required to proceed. The top scorers in Round 1 were:
- Epicgenius, a finalist last year, who led the field with 1906 points, gained from 32 GAs and 19 DYKs, all on the topic of New York buildings.
- AryKun, new to the contest, was second with 1588 points, having achieved 2 FAs, 11 GAs and various other submissions, mostly on the subject of birds.
- Bloom6132, a WikiCup veteran, was in third place with 682 points, garnered from 51 In the news items and several DYKs.
- GhostRiver was close behind with 679 points, gained from achieving 12 GAs, mostly on ice hockey players, and 35 GARs.
- Kavyansh.Singh was in fifth place with 551 points, with an FA, a FL, and many reviews.
- SounderBruce was next with 454 points, gained from an FA and various other submissions, mostly on United States highways.
- Ktin, another WikiCup veteran, was in seventh place with 412 points, mostly gained from In the news items.
These contestants, like all the others who qualified for Round 2, now have to start scoring points again from scratch. Between them, contestants completed reviews of a large number of good articles as the contest ran concurrently with a GAN backlog drive. Well done all! To qualify for Round 3, contestants will need to finish Round 2 among the top thirty-two participants.
Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Anything that should have been claimed for in Round 1 is no longer eligible for points. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.
Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Patna
Hello DTM, Would you please tell me how to renominate Patna for good article..., last time i was busy, so my nomination was failed. Thanks. — B203GTB (talk) • 11:32, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
- @B203GTB:; Hi! Glad to see you. So last time the conversation ended at Talk:Patna/GA1. We didn't even get past the infobox but I did write "isn't far from a GA tag". Well, spend sometime with the article. Check the basics (as per Wikipedia:Good article criteria) and make changes as needed. And then renominate. This would mean starting
afresha new nom (Wikipedia:Good article nominations/Instructions).
- I still stumble with technicalities related to all this sometimes so if you have further queries about the technicalities of the GA you could go here Wikipedia talk:Good article nominations. DTM (talk) 12:00, 3 March 2022 (UTC)

Signpost suggestions
Re this request, some vague stuff that might have potential or be of use to you.
- I was intrigued by how closely this graph of South India wikipedia views aligns with school years; even intra-year spikes seem to precede quarterly/half-year exams. If that theory is right, it also shows a covid related drop.
