Succession Boxes

In 2015, I started to standardize the bishops pages. They were a hodgepodge of styles, from names to titles to dioceses. I made a template and proceeded to work on them, a nightmare that took me two weeks to complete 400+ pages. One thing that I noticed was that for bishops who were auxiliaries, some had the Auxiliary post on the Succession Box, some didn't. Nevertheless, they all were going to have the post when I was done. My take is that succession not only is who you succeed but also the dioceses from where you come from. The latest thing I standardize was the "Prior Post" parameter in the infobox a couple of months ago. It should read top down with the prior post first and the first assignment last, on a bulleted list. Well, that didn't last too long as users were inverting the list. Same thing happens with the Auxiliaries, they get wiped out. I should open another login for the bishops that way I can look at the watchlist to see what get edited. Yes, it's frustrating since I'm putting in the time and effort.Roberto221 (talk) 00:06, 9 September 2022 (UTC)

Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia

I noticed that there is a redirect from "Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia" to Secular Franciscan Order. AFAIK they are Third Order Franciscans not Seculars. There was a good bit of discussion at Third Order of Saint Francis whether to delete or split (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Third Order of Saint Francis) also see Talk:Third Order of Saint Francis. The women's US congregations have been split to the pending draft in order to make the Main somewhat less unwieldy. In the course of that the Srs. of Philly got their own article. However, if there is already a page named "Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia" can the draft actually be accepted? Or should the content be moved to the already existing page? This is somewhat above my pay scale. Manannan67 (talk) 08:45, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

@Manannan67: It's been hard to find out what the Sisters of Philadelphia are actually categorized as. From what I could find, I thought they were Seculars, which is a sub-branch of Third Orders. But as to the redirect, yes, an administrator can delete the redirect (since it has no history) and move the draft into that name. Ergo Sum 14:09, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

Linking to redirects on J. Havens Richards

I had read at WP:NOTBROKEN that wiki-links should be simplified where possible, did I understand it wrong or are there just edge cases/exceptions? Mesidast (talk) 00:41, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

The first sentence of that policy, I believe is instructive and controlling. While it is permissible to link to redirects, it is not a good practice to go through articles to change links from valid links to redirects. Ergo Sum 16:18, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

Bulleted lists are deprecated?

Can you give a citation for this claim? Thanks. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 19:25, 31 March 2023 (UTC)

I thought there was an MOS provision for this, but after reading through the MOS, I can't quite seem to find a direction deprecating them. MOS:LISTBULLET does instruct that bullets should be avoided when text will do. I suppose my instinct is just a product of convention then. I don't really think it's best practice to list things in bullet form except for in accepted sections (e.g. See also) or inside templates. Ergo Sum 19:36, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
Thanks. I am generally opposed to putting things in tables if they aren't tabular data and bulleted or ordered lists are often appropriate for sequences of events. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 21:25, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
