I saw the article during its DYK, and wanted to add an image, but couldn't prove that any were actually published before 1925. But I searched around, and emailed the Saint Louis University archives, which had an image up (marked copyrighted). After a few emails back and forth, they just today agreed it should be public domain, and so marked it on their site! I see you're working on a GA for it, hope this helps. If you think the border and caption should be cropped off the version in the article, we can do that too. --GRuban (talk) 20:32, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Ergo, have updated the FAC page with my current position, ie am inclined to take you at face value re comprehensiveness; have done own searches of data bases and not found anything of value that could be added, also as having reviewed in detail a nr of your articles in the past, and knowing your form, am inclined to AGF here, with little to no reservations. I'm available, on and off, for the next 12 hours, and then gone for a week, so if you have the time to close this out, that would be great. ps, inclined to now include the 1993 Curran view, if could see the overall context...is this something you still have and email a scan? To reiterate again am not opposed to short articles, but they do require an especial and different type of scrutiny vs longer pages, which the FAC guidelines are not really set up for. OTOH, I think you overarching aim, as stated on Sandy's talk, is laudable. Best. Ceoil (talk) 16:15, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

Reply tool
The Reply tool is available at most other Wikipedias.
- The Reply tool has been deployed as an opt-out preference to all editors at the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedias.
- It is also available as a Beta Feature at almost all Wikipedias except for the English, Russian, and German-language Wikipedias. If it is not available at your wiki, you can request it by following these simple instructions.
Research notes:
- As of January 2021, more than 3,500 editors have used the Reply tool to post about 70,000 comments.
- There is preliminary data from the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedia on the Reply tool. Junior Contributors who use the Reply tool are more likely to publish the comments that they start writing than those who use full-page wikitext editing.[2]
- The Editing and Parsing teams have significantly reduced the number of edits that affect other parts of the page. About 0.3% of edits did this during the last month.[3] Some of the remaining changes are automatic corrections for Special:LintErrors.
- A large A/B test will start soon.[4] This is part of the process to offer the Reply tool to everyone. During this test, half of all editors at 24 Wikipedias (not including the English Wikipedia) will have the Reply tool automatically enabled, and half will not. Editors at those Wikipeedias can still turn it on or off for their own accounts in Special:Preferences.
New discussion tool
The new tool for starting new discussions (new sections) will join the Discussion tools in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-betafeatures at the end of January. You can try the tool for yourself.[5] You can leave feedback in this thread or on the talk page.

During Talk pages consultation 2019, editors said that it should be easier to know about new activity in conversations they are interested in. The Notifications project is just beginning. What would help you become aware of new comments? What's working with the current system? Which pages at your wiki should the team look at? Hey
Congrats on Bernard A. Maguire being scheduled for TFA on February 11. Well deserved. I'm assuming from the amount of FAs listed on your user page that you're a lot more familiar with TFA space than I am. Would you mind having a look at my Feb 14 nomination, which is still there despite receiving more supports than 2 other articles also scheduled for TFA at the same time as yours? I'm a bit confused about the whole process. Thanks. Homeostasis07 (talk/contributions) 02:41, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Homeostasis07: The TFA process can be a bit opaque. Even though one might call me a TFA veteran, I'm still learning the ropes. February isn't filled out yet, so I'm sure the coords are still sorting out the dates. From what I've observed, it's not that uncommon that they schedule articles in batches. I'd recommend just waiting a bit. Feel free to stop by again in a couple days if it's still pending. Ergo Sum 03:16, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you today, Ergo Sum, for the article on Maguire, "about a Jesuit who headed Georgetown University before and after the American Civil War, and opened Georgetown Law School." Homeostasis07, most nominations at TFAR get accepted, without competition for number of supports (unless there's oppose or struggle about a certain date), - sometimes late, as for February. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:47, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

- Like you, my body ticks on but sadly I can no longer say the same for far too many people dear to me. This pestilence. I really think a different world awaits us at the other side of it. I was sad to hear about Yoninah; she was a marvelous contributor. Congrats on the FA! that's some bright news. I find myself running out of steam at times on wiki now. I'd like to continue contributing and have a huge backlog of articles to create or improve but just don't feel the same verve that I used to. I hope it's a passing feeling. - I have a few things where I do little every day: remember Precious - pure fun! write one article however short (not yet today), convert one article from deprecated harv referencing to sfn (not yet today), add one infobox (not yet today). - That's ambitious. I hope I can keep up with you! And yes, agreed. I wouldn't trust someone who leaves a noticeboard with a good feeling. They're too often places where factions duel and biases entrench. Ergo Sum 19:00, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
- This recent arbitration: an admin edit-warred and had to be desyssoped (short version). How different would Wikipedia be if the one who stubbornly didn't listen to recommendation to improve accessibility but reverted had instead said "thank you, learning". Instead, said that I also did it wrong. I began doing it right. The recipe is on top here. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:08, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

R. A. B. Mynors
Hello Ergo Sum, I hope you're doing well. I'm writing you because I've seen that you've recently brought John Early (educator) to FA. I'm currently nominating a similar topic, R. A. B. Mynors, for FA status. I was wondering whether you would like to add a review to the article's FAC page? Best, Modussiccandi (talk) 21:56, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Modussiccandi: Sure, I'll give it a look in the next few days. Please feel free to remind me if I forget. Ergo Sum 01:30, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
- Looks like the FAC got archived before you had a chance to review. Sorry about that, I'm afraid the article needed some more work. If I renominate after the necessary improvements, I will ping you in the nomination statement with the other contributors to the FAC. I hope that's okay. Best,Modussiccandi (talk) 09:06, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- Very sorry, I was planning on doing a review tonight. Please do let me know next time you nominate it. I'll be sure to be more prompt. Ergo Sum 14:14, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Ergo Sum, I just wanted to let you know that the I've re-nominated the article at FAC. This is not to rush you but rather to make sure you're aware. I'm still figuring out the FA process and I'm quite insecure at the moment about how actively one should solicit reviews. So, please accept my apologies if I'm being rude. Best, Modussiccandi (talk) 09:38, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

As you are serious minded and diligent, can you take a look at this which is languishing at FAC. I think its good to give back to a process that has helped you a lot. Ceoil (talk) 00:26, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
- This is pretty far outside my wheelhouse. I loathe FACs that fail for lack of input, though, so I will give it a look. Ergo Sum 00:51, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
- To be honest, I think you would be a good reviewer here; its sort of your period and a bio. But yeah, failing for lack of attention is always a shame. Ceoil (talk) 01:03, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Direct, reliable sources needed for Days of the Year pages
You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages now require direct reliable sources for additions. For details see the content guideline, the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide or the edit notice on any DOY page. Almost all new additions without a reliable source as a reference are now being reverted on-sight.
Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 03:14, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks Toddst1. I think this is an overdue change. Admittedly, it's a little absurd since virtually no entries on that page, at least, have citations. But overdue nonetheless. I'll re-add with a citation. Ergo Sum 04:17, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, first we stop the bleeding then we rehab the patient. Some of us have been going through the DOY articles and painstakingly cleaning the inaccurate or unverifiable entries and have quite a few done but it's a slow process. Thanks for your understanding. 04:24, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
