The article Metro-1 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
The term "Metro-1" isn't used in the articles Moscow Metro or Metro 2033 and there are no pages linking to Metro-1 so there seems to be no need for this disambiguation page.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 09:00, 3 September 2022 (UTC)

WikiCup 2022 September newsletter
The fourth round of the WikiCup has now finished. 383 points were required to reach the final, and the new round has got off to a flying start with all finalists already scoring. In round 4, Bloom6132 with 939 points was the highest points-scorer, with a combination of DYKs and In the news items, followed by BennyOnTheLoose, Sammi Brie and Lee Vilenski. The points of all contestants are swept away as we start afresh for the final round.
At this stage, we say goodbye to the eight competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia, and we hope you will join us again next year. For the remaining competitors, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them, and importantly, before the deadline on October 31st!
If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. The judges are Sturmvogel 66 and Cwmhiraeth. Hello Epicgenius, good to see you around! Sorry about the edit conflict earlier. I wanted to drop by and ask if you wanted to co-nominate the article once the Reception section is finished (you do not have to finish it, I will probably fill it in later)? Your contributions are greatly appreciated as I did not find some of those tid-bits while doing my research. I have been trying to do a roller coaster GA-binge to offset my burnout working on Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Also, I appreciate your help at WP:APARKS, especially with the inquiries on the roller coaster talk pages! Adog (Talk・Cont) 21:03, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Adog, great to see you as well. It's really no problem - it was my fault because you were actively editing the page.I'm fine with you adding me as a co-nominator for the Great Bear article. I've been trying to improve some articles about coasters myself. Some of the Hersheypark coaster articles are in such bad shape that they were tagged with {{notability}} last year, even though it's more of a {{sources exist}} situation for all of these pages. Hopefully, there'll be a few Hersheypark coaster GAs in the future. – Epicgenius (talk) 02:17, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- I'll be honest, I got distracted by a video I had put on as background noise while editing, I do not blame you. Unfortunately, many roller coaster articles are in bad shape, especially notable ones, even some presently GA that need an update. Maybe WP:APARKS needs a drive as they did back with Operation B&M. Any improvement to articles will be dually appreciated; nonetheless, I appreciate the help again! Adog (Talk・Cont) 03:10, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Adog, you're very welcome. And thank you for improving the Roller Soaker and SooperDooperLooper articles. We probably do need something like Operation B&M. It is unfortunate that the three top editors behind Operation B&M aren't active anymore, so it might take a bit longer to bring coaster articles up to GA, but I think we can make it happen. – Epicgenius (talk) 13:09, 5 September 2022 (UTC)

Coordinates pointed to wrong building
In the article 56 Beaver Street you entered coordinates that pointed to the New York Cotton Exchange. At first I thought that was a copy-and-paste error, but the coordinates given for the New York Cotton Exchange point to the Vintry restaurant on Stone Street. Why does this keep happening? Abductive (reasoning) 13:02, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Abductive, sorry about that. I know we've talked about this several times before, but when I extract coordinates from OpenStreetMap, they sometimes tend to be off by a few dozen feet or more. I think it may be the way I'm looking at the OSM website, as there is a collapsible pane on the left that, most of the time, I keep open. – Epicgenius (talk) 13:13, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
- Wikimapia is easier. It shows a reticle which reports its coordinates it the corner. Clicking on the coords brings up a pane from which the coords can be easily copied. You can toggle between Google, Bing, OSM and (now) Yandex maps. Almost everything is labeled and tells what it is be merely hovering. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia occasionally DDOS attacks Wikimapia since people are putting battlefield info on there. In the last few days, the site's been defaulting to Russian, this happened when they added Yandex (the progammers are ethnic Russians in Estonia). Abductive (reasoning) 19:53, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

Brookfield Properties follow-up
Hi again Epicgenius. I followed your advice and posted at Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/Tasks#Brookfield Properties, but it looks like my request is being ignored, seeing as all the other requests on the page were answered very quickly. Did I do something wrong? I appreciate your assistance here. Claudiailagan (talk) 19:36, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Claudiailagan, that is strange. I'm not sure why your request would just be ignored, rather than accepted or declined. I think it's just a bit harder to manually look through all uses of "Brookfield Properties Retail Group"/"Brookfield Office Properties" and see whether each mention of the name is used in a reference or in a historical manner.Alternatively, you can look through all of these pages yourself and make edit requests on the respective talk pages using the {{request edit}} template. That might take a long time, though. – Epicgenius (talk) 22:58, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House scheduled for TFA
This is to let you know that the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House article has been scheduled as today's featured article for October 8, 2022. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/October 8, 2022, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so.
For Featured Articles promoted recently, there will be an existing blurb linked from the FAC talk page, which is likely to be transferred to the TFA page by a coordinator at some point.
We suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:54, 9 September 2022 (UTC)

... and TFA
Thank you today for that, and for TFA 55 Wall Street, "about a building in Manhattan, New York City, whose long history can be seen just by looking at the two tiers of colonnades on its eight-story facade. The lower section was constructed for the Merchants' Exchange in 1841 and also housed the New York Stock Exchange and the United States Custom House in the 19th century. The upper section was built when National City Bank took over in the 1900s. At one point, the bank was said to do "more business in its head office than is done under any other nongovernmental banking roof on the face of the earth". The building's massive cruciform banking hall is now an event venue, with people living in condo apartments above."! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:12, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

I appreciate your help. I've looked at a few other articles by the same editor. Now, this edit--I'm actually sad at you, and I left it on purpose, because I want it to be true. I'm a huge fan of the golden ratio--but yeah, it, ahem, lacks proof. Too bad! Drmies (talk) 14:08, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Drmies, thanks for your comment. I noticed your edits to the viaduct article, and it seems like the page was really overloaded with unsourced trivia before yesterday. I was contemplating leaving the "Fibonacci measurement and golden ratio" details in the article with an original-research tag, but on further thought, many of these details are extremely minor. For example, I don't think the fact that "There are 3 rows of stones in the Canton Viaduct monument, the bottom and middle rows have 8 stones each." is really germane to the article. And I really don't think something like "The inscription on the back of the Dedication Stone is recessed into an elongated octagon" can be used as evidence of the viaduct's use of Fibonacci numbers, at least not without several reliable sources. If the viaduct does deliberately use Fibonacci numbers and the golden ratio, though, then that truly would be pretty interesting. – Epicgenius (talk) 14:37, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
- It would--but it's all unverified, and completely unexplained. You and I could get to work on it and figure out what the editor might have meant, and how it fits in, but who's going to do the dishes and call mom while we're busy with that? Thanks again, and thank you for all your wonderful contributions to Wikipedia. I used to think that your user name was, ahem, a bit cocky, but you are truly one of the people that make us look good, and I appreciate it very much. Drmies (talk) 14:45, 17 September 2022 (UTC)

J/Z trains
MTA's website is still listing the Z train as suspended, should we push back the showby templates to October 1st? Cards84664 12:11, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Cards84664, yeah, I think we should. – Epicgenius (talk) 13:40, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Cards84664, as it turned out, the J/Z resumed service today (the update is so new that the MTA does not even have a permanent link to the announcement). I guess we should've waited a few more days - I had heard it was going to end on the 16th, but I confused that for "service being restored on the 16th". – Epicgenius (talk) 12:44, 19 September 2022 (UTC)

Growth team newsletter #22
Welcome to the twenty-second newsletter from the Growth team!
Newcomers tasks reach the 500,000 edits milestone — more data publicly available
As of the last week of June 2022, the newcomers of the world have completed over 500,000 newcomer tasks. In other words, newcomers have made over half a million Wikipedia edits via Growth’s “Suggested Edits” module.
- About 30% of those edits were completed on mobile devices.
- Usage continues to increase; in June 2022 almost 50,000 newcomer tasks were completed.
We have added some new data to Grafana. You can now check the number of edits and reverts by task types, or the number of questions asked to mentors. You can filter the data by wiki.
If you have any questions, or there is more data you want access to, please let us know.
Ongoing projects and explorations
We are continuing our work on our new project, Positive Reinforcement. User testing of initial Positive Reinforcement designs was just completed. Interviews were conducted in Arabic, English, and Spanish. The outcome has been published on the Positive Reinforcement page. We are now utilizing user testing feedback along with prior community feedback to iterate and improve designs.
We are exploring the idea of a Copy Edit structured task. We have tested copy edits in Wikipedia articles for arwiki, bnwiki, cswiki, eswiki (Growth pilot-wikis) and enwiki with two different methods: LanguageTool and Hunspell. We will share more details here and on the associated Copy Edit page once the evaluation is complete.
Add an image was utilized at GLAM events in Argentina, Mexico, and Chile. For an overview of what was learned from these events, read: #1Pic1Article I: how Latin American heritage experts added images to Wikipedia (in English).
Experiments analysis
Add a Link Experiment Analysis has been published. The most important points are:
- Newcomers who get the Add a Link structured task are more likely to be activated (i.e. make a constructive first article edit).
- They are also more likely to be retained (i.e. come back and make another constructive article edit on a different day).
- The feature also increases edit volume (i.e. the number of constructive edits made across the first couple weeks), while at the same time improving edit quality (i.e. the likelihood that the newcomer's edits aren't reverted).
Newcomer task edit type analysis has been published.
- Communities had expressed concern that newcomers whose initial edits were structured tasks wouldn’t go on to learn how to complete more difficult tasks. The Growth team data scientist conducted a Newcomer task edit type analysis to see if this was indeed the case.
- Results from analysis indicate that this likely isn’t a significant concern. More than 70% of users who start with the easy task "Add a link" also make another task type. Read the full analysis and methodology here.
News for mentors
A new system for the mentors list
The configuration of the mentors list will change over the next weeks. In the future, mentors will sign up, edit their mentor description and quit using Special:MentorDashboard. This new system will make the development of new features for mentors much easier.
At the moment, the mentor list is a simple page anyone can edit, unless it’s protected. With the new page, mentors will be able to edit only their own description, while administrators will be able to edit the entire mentors' list if needed.
The deployment will happen first at the pilot wikis, then at all wikis. Existing lists of mentors will be automatically converted, no action will be needed from the mentors. [1][2]
Mentors will be informed about the next steps soon, by a message posted on the talk page of existing Mentor lists.
Learn more about this new structured page on mediawiki.org.
A tip for mentors
Did you know that mentors can filter their mentees' changes at Special:MentorDashboard (and star the ones that require attention)? This feature helps to keep an eye on newcomers' edits, helping mentors to fix minor details, and encourage them if necessary.
And did you know that mentors have special filters to highlight their mentees' edits at Special:RecentChanges? Look for the following filters in RecentChanges: Your starred mentees, Your unstarred mentees.
Other improvements
Some improvements will be made to the mentor dashboard in the coming weeks:
- While we now offer some options for mentors to take a break, the option to quit mentoring was not easy to find. This will be improved. [3]
- Mentors at wikis using FlaggedRevisions will have a way to discover their mentees' pending edits. [4]
- Dashboard discovery for new mentors will be improved. [5]
Recent changes and fixed bugs
- We moved to a new Image Suggestions API. This new API will allow us to deploy Add an Image to more wikis. [6]
- Starting September 19, a few more wikis now offer Add an image to newcomers. These wikis are Greek Wikipedia, Polish Wikipedia, Chinese Wikipedia, Indonesian Wikipedia, Romanian Wikipedia. [7]
- Add an image has been disabled for a few days due to technical issue. "Add an image" added a blank line instead of an image. This has been fixed. [8]
- In order to know if Special:EditGrowthConfig is used by communities, we now instrument page loads and saves of configuration. [9]

Epicgenius, please stop by this GA nomination right away and finish anything needed on it and in the article, and then let the reviewer know that you're done. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:45, 18 September 2022 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset, there is only point that I have not addressed, which is to add historic images of the article's subject. I sincerely do not know whether adding these photos is a necessity for GA, or if it would just be convenient for me to do so. As I mentioned on the talk page, the issue is with ensuring that the historic images are properly licensed. The source in question has several images taken before 1927, but I cannot be sure that the images were published before 1927 (and thus in the public domain). I'm also pinging @CPClegg to give them a heads-up. – Epicgenius (talk) 13:39, 18 September 2022 (UTC)
- If there is no way to determine their copyright status, then they can't be used. (All of the Forster images are clearly ineligible, since he only died 14 years ago.) The article has a number of images already; historic images, while they would be nice, are not always available with the necessary provenance. Pinging CPClegg to see whether the desire for historical images is truly a dealbreaker, since what's out there doesn't seem to be provably in the public domain. The GA criteria does say "Illustrated, if possible", and I doubt it's possible if not clearly out of copyright, as there are significant strictures regarding valid and acceptable non-free use. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:48, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
- Given the discussion of this issue, I've passed the article review. Congratulations!CPClegg (talk) 20:49, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
