This article about the history of 390 Fifth Ave NY does not include an important part of the history of this building. There was a business on the main floor of this building from approximately 1950‘s to 1990’s, Party Bazaar. This retail store was a unique, well known business. My father was the owner. He had a vision and was intuitive about people’s future interests. His store was visited by celebrities, and was a prototype for The Hallmark stores opened by Hallmark cards company. My father’s ideas were shared with Hallmark on his many trips to Hallmark’s Crown Plaza in Kansas City by invitation of the company. Hallmark stores are a very condensed version of Party Bazaar. There are no pictures of my father’s store. He designed a unique storefront that was not considered the best look for this building but is part of the buildings history. I can send you pictures of the store front during my the period he was in business. Hope you will update your article. Party Bazaar was famous. Today there are Party stores with some of the ideas my father had but none of these businesses are as unique, as interesting or have the creativity of my Dad’s stores. Thank you for the comment. Sadly it does not belong in the article itself, but I have moved this comment to the talk page. If I can find a reliable source for this info, I will definitely add it. – Epicgenius (talk) 16:11, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'll review this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 02:09, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Images are appropriately tagged; sources are reliable.

  • "At the time, much of the land was owned by John Jacob Astor IV": do you mean much of the land in that area?
  • "The opening took place "within days" of that of the nearby Tiffany and Company Building,[16] which actually opened the same day.": If we know they opened the same day, why not just say that and drop the less precise report?

Just those two issues. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 02:39, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review. I've fixed both of these - Astor owned much of the site that Gorham leased, and I removed the less precise date. – Epicgenius (talk) 13:39, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Spotchecks

[edit]

Epicgenius, I'm catching up on spotchecks I should have done during GA reviews, and found something here I wanted to ask you about.

  • FN 18 cites '"In his notes, Stanford White said he wanted the design to have "elegance and simplicity in both the exterior and interior".' I think the quote marks need to moved around; all of this is in the source, but not in one piece; half is quoted from White by the source and the other half is from the source itself.

@Mike Christie, oops, this seems to have escaped me. I've fixed the quotation now. – Epicgenius (talk) 16:26, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good; thanks. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 16:28, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
