Nomination of Buchi Ojieh for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Buchi Ojieh is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Buchi Ojieh until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.  —Josh3580talk/hist 16:38, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You asked on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Buchi Ojieh page what you would need to do to prevent deletion. Now that it has been nominated, it will be up to the community to decide. Your biggest obstacle will be to establish notability. You will have to cite verifiable, reliable sources which meet the guidelines at WP:ENT. Beyond that, the entire article is written from the first person, which is a whole other animal in itself (See WP:NOTESSAY.) If I had to guess, I would say that this article will probably end up deleted, but perhaps you could start a submission for WP:AfC, this will allow other editors to assist you as you write the article, and you can then submit it to be published once it is complete. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia, and your submission is more about your personal experience than verifiable facts. You will have to fundamentally rewrite your content to give it the correct WP:TONE. I hope this helps, —Josh3580talk/hist 17:10, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Buchi Ojieh requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://buchitv.com/bio.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I notice you have had another article put up for speedy deletion, again as a result of CSD G12. If you wish to make valid contributions by creating new pages, that is great, but PLEASE do not copy and paste from anything. Be warned that anything you post in the future may be monitored especially carefully because of your past CSDs. (I apologise in advance if this CSD is unfair, incorrect or in some other way a mistake on my part.) Bilorv (talk) 19:43, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You cannot bring copyright text into Wikipedia. Even if you wrote it, if it has been published (print or online - doesn't matter), it is copyright. Wikipedia is licensed under Creative Commons CC-BY-SA 3.0 for free reuse anywhere by anyone, subject only to attribution to Wikipedia. The text from those websites you copied and pasted from is not licensed in this way. Please see WP:COPYVIO. Text can be licensed, but this is not usually recommended. Text from a promotional site is going to be promotional, and promotion is not allowed on Wikipedia WP:SPAM. We also insist that articles are referenced to reliable independent sources WP:RS. The subject's website is not independent (and in many cases not reliable either...). Peridon (talk) 20:35, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on List of Nigerian comedians requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

The article Humblesmith has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non notable musician; fails WP:GNG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.Stanleytux (talk) 18:32, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We at Wikipedia love evidence based medicine. You must therefore cited the best available evidence aswell as write in a consistent format. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations. A list of resources to help edit such articles can be found here. Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Ddluv09, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
