Reversed edit

[edit]

Hello, why did you revert my edit on Burna Boy's page? I changed it from infobox musical artist to infobox person because he is not just a musician alone. And so many information about him needs to be in that infobox. 105.112.215.29 (talk) 16:49, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, thanks for leaving a comment on my talk page. I restored the article to a previous revision and didn't specifically revert your edits. With regards to the changes you made, it is not the norm to add information from an artist's YouTube channel to the infobox. Burna Boy is a musician and not a YouTuber; therefore, it is more appropiate to use the infobox musical artist template. If you check the articles dedicated to other prominent musicians, you will not see info from their YouTube channel in the infobox. You added three aliases to the infobox but didn't include a citation for any of them. Please remember to always cite the info you add to Wikipedia. The alias field is not meant for nicknames; it is meant for "listing official stage names for the act or solo artist other than the name in the |name= parameter".  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 20:32, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the late reply, i haven't been here. I learnt a lot from this reply. When I'm editing it I'll add the citations and i won't add that YouTube part.Thanks. 105.112.216.50 (talk) 17:29, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 15:14, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reissues & remixes

[edit]

Hello mate, there's an ongoing discussion about album reissues and remixes at WikiProject Music. Please do stop by and leave your suggestion Thank you. dxneo (talk) 17:55, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi dxneo, thanks for this particular message. I've read the discussion and have a neutral perspective. I personally don't have a problem with reissue albums having their own separate articles. In my opinion, any and all reissue albums need to meet the requirements of WP:GNG and WP:NALBUM in order to justify stand-alone inclusion. Having said that, I do agree with one of the users who said that the community should come up with a policy to address reissue projects. I will monitor the discussion and if I feel the need to comment, I will.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 18:14, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Cool Thank you. dxneo (talk) 18:15, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Never Felt a Love release

[edit]

Hello Versace1608, I want to make an article on Nigerian singer Capital F.E.M.I's debut studio album The Year of R'n'B (2012) but I don't know when its lead single "Never Felt a Love" was released. I think it was sometime in September 2009 and it was re-released on 1 April 2013. For the singles part in the infobox album template should I put "Never Felt a Love" as the lead single and put its release as "September 2009" or put it as an ordinary single and its re-release date in 1 April 2013? Also I replied to your message on my talk page. OsigbemheEJB (talk) 00:49, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi OsigbemheEJB, thanks for the message. You can add "Never Felt a Love" to the article's info box and leave the release date field blank. You shouldn't speculate since you're unsure about the release date. In the article's body, you can simply state that "Never Felt a Love" was released as the album's lead single. I don't know what you mean by "ordinary single" and where exactly is the 1 April 2013 date coming from? If this is the date that is shown on Apple Music, you can include this info in the article's body. Alternatively, you could add the re-release date (1 April 2013) to the infobox and leave a note next to it, informing readers that the date displayed is a re-release date. I personally would leave the release date field blank and explain to readers that the song was digitally released on Apple Music on 1 April 2013.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 01:13, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I’ll leave the date for “Never Felt a Love” blank. Also, to answer your question, the 1 April 2013 date is from sources I found. OsigbemheEJB (talk) 07:23, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, cool. I meant to say this to you. Please try to shorten quotes from the sources as much as you can when you're writing an article's critical reception section.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 10:22, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Understood. OsigbemheEJB (talk) 02:06, 15 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fada Fada chart performance

[edit]

Hi Versace1608, I'm making an article for Phyno's "Fada Fada" featuring Olamide, and by the way, I thought about what you said on making articles on reliable songs and not just popular songs. The song has seemed to have won three awards (that I have found so far), there is an available review of the song I can place in critical reception, and chart performance on Playdata charts for the track. However, the only details I can find for "Fada Fada"'s chart performance is from BellaNaija, which is assumed to be a unreliable source according to this page. Should I ditch the chart performance and continue on with the article? OsigbemheEJB (talk) 05:27, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi OsigbemheEJB, you can create the article and include BellaNaija. I don't know who added it to that list but BellaNaija is definitely a reliable source. I looked online and saw a review of Fada Fada on the website Music in Africa. I'm not sure if that is the review you found but the reliability of that particular website might be in jeopardy. The website itself might not have editorial oversight and it may be a website where anyone can create an account and publish an article. I'm not sure but if any of this is true but if it is, then the website isn't reliable.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 12:10, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Versace1608: Okay, thanks, Also the review I found actually is Music in Africa. I looked at its FAQ and it says: "Knowledgeable individuals or businesses are welcome to contribute content with Music In Africa. You will first need to create a contributor's profile and contact us on content.en@musicinafrica.net if you'd like to submit an article to be published." I'm not sure if they mean that you need experience to publish articles to the site or something but I'd like to hear your opinion on it. OsigbemheEJB (talk) 23:46, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Per this info, I don't think Music in Africa would be considered reliable by Wikipedia's standards. Regardless of what measures the website puts in place to have competent contributors, the entire process can be classified as either WP:USERGENERATED or WP:SPS to some extent. I think Music in Africa is comparable to WP:MEDIUM. "Fada Fada" is an improtant song in Phyno's discopgrahy and it would be nice if it had a separate article. However, I personally feel like there aren't enough reliable sources to support a separate article. I can't stop you from creating the article. If you feel like there are enough sources to justify a separate article, go right ahead.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 14:38, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Theta (album)

[edit]

The article Theta (album) you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Theta (album) and Talk:Theta (album)/GA2 for issues which need to be addressed. Biographies

[edit]

Hi Versace1608, sorry if I'm bothering you, but I just wanted to ask for any tips on making biographies. I want to make one on Capital F.E.M.I but I want to know whether or not it is reliable or not. Most sources I've found about his early life and career and stuff are interviews, which in most biographies I've seen, are a primary source for the topic, but after Capital F.E.M.I's debut album The Year of R'n'B (2012), his career kind of toned down and he didn't drop as much music (his last single was released in 2016). You can tell me if the article would seem reliable or give me some tips for Capital F.E.M.I or later biographies I may make in the future. OsigbemheEJB (talk) 08:58, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You're not bothering me at all. Feel free to ask me any question. I think Capital Femi meets Wikipedia's notability requirements, specifically criterion 8 and 10 of WP:MUSICBIO. He has received multiple nominations at The Headies, and probably has a couple of Nigeria Entertainment Awards nominations as well. Capital Femi recorded the song "I Believe", which was used as the soundtrack for the film Lunch Time Heroes. His album, The Year of R 'n' B, was critically reviewed by TooXclusive and Pulse Nigeria. I did a Google search of him and did see tons of primary sources. Although these sources cannot be used to establish notability, they can definitely be included in the article. Here are some useful sources that you should include in the article:

Thanks. I'll try to figure out how I can use these sources to create Capital F.E.M.I's biography. OsigbemheEJB (talk) 22:07, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I left a note on the talk page of Flavor (Iyanya song). I need you to respond to the message.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 16:52, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
