Invitation to Wikipedia meetup in London

[edit]
Wikimedia UK logo
Wikimedia UK logo

Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008

Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map

More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please forgive the slightly impersonal mass-invite!

removing db-reposts

[edit]

When you add a {{hangon}} to a page, don't delete the original {{db-whatever}} that is on it. Doing so is considered vandalism, and will get you blocked if it is repeated. You are courting getting blocked with your editing patterns over this article. It has been deleted time and time again, and constantly recreating deleted material is considered to be disruptive editing. It's time to give this a rest. Read WP:MUSIC, and when this group qualifies, consider creating an article. I've requested that this article be salted, such that no article under this name can ever be created again without administrator intervention.Kww (talk) 15:33, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, DavidJJJ. You have new messages at Moonriddengirl's talk page.

Hi. I was considering restoring this article, but when I checked the reference given in support of the statement that they had been nominated for Best British Band in the Kerrang! awards, I could find no mention of them in that reference. Can you give any further evidence that they were nominated? Deb (talk) 18:03, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. I noticed that you have recently been adding/changing genres on several band/album/song articles. I'd just like to let you know that genres are not proper nouns and therefore should not be capitalized, as you did capitalize genres on several articles, and I did fix some of them already. Message from WikiProject Punk music

[edit]

Hello!

You may be interested to know that WikiProject Punk music has recently undergone a major revitalization. Please visit the project page to see our new look and check out some of our helpful new features, such as the Assessment Department and the Collaboration of the week. There are also a number of tasks on our Things to do page that you may be interested in helping with.

We are currently holding a roll call to help gauge how many active project members we have. Please visit the project's talk page and add your signature to the roll sheet to express your continued interest in the project. Also, if you have not already done so, please take a minute to add your name to the Participants page along with a brief summary of your punk-related interests, so that other project members will be better able to collaborate with you. If you do not add your signature to the roll sheet by November 30, 2008 your name will be moved to our list of inactive members. We may also take the liberty of removing the project userbox from your userpage if it appears there, to prevent you from automatically appearing in Category:WikiProject Punk music members. Of course you are free to rejoin the project and re-add the userbox at any time if you would like to become active in the project again.

Thank you and we hope you will continue to support WikiProject Punk music!
