Re: A message

[edit]

Hello. By the way, you never did answer this question, which I posed after you removed a great deal of the information from my user page. Was there a purpose for that edit (twice, in fact)? RadioKirk talk to me 18:12, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disregard, sorry. I went looking, and it turns out you did answer. RadioKirk talk to me 03:26, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Hard Rock

[edit]

Given the nature of the genre you're covering with this project, I suggest working very closely with the heavy metal Wikiproject. Put up a notice on the talk page asking for assistance and suggestions. WesleyDodds 00:54, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject: Hard Rock

[edit]

I'll join your wikiproject if I can find it, but you need to get organised:

  1. Read Wikiproject Best practices for tips on leading a WikiProject.
  2. Create the main project page at Wikipedia:WikiProject projectname. (See Starting a new page)
  3. Create an outline on your project page:
  4. Identify pages within the scope of your project:
    • A good way to do this is to copy the listings of Special:Whatlinkshere for the most important articles related to your project.
    • You will probably want to save a copy of the list on a project status subpage.
  5. Create a project to-do list to focus and coordinate your collaborative efforts.
  6. If possible, link to a sample article to give other Wikipedians a feel for the project's goals.
  7. Add the new portal to the list of WikiProjects.
  8. Advertise!
  9. Collaborate in real-time with other project members using IRC at Freenode. Log into #wikiproject, which was created especially for WikiProject coordination and collaboration.

PHEW!

Templates for Hard Rock Project

[edit]

Hi DavidJJJ, your hard rock project is lacking a few templates for the moment. Would you like me to create any? I have a bit of experience in the matter since I initiated a wikiproject myself (WikiProject Arthropods). Just tell me which ones you want created and will see to it.

We should also look for some featured Hard Rock-related articles to put in the "good articles" section. Peace, IronChris | (talk) 09:14, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Attack/Vandalism

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits, such as those you made to User:Consumed Crustacean, are considered vandalism. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the hard work of others. Thanks. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. If you believe this edit should not have been reverted, please contact me. Konstable 12:51, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly what do you have against me that would cause you to do such a thing anyways? -- Consumed Crustacean | Talk | 00:46, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: A question

[edit]

It's basically a matter of creating a page and moving older contents to it. For example, when you're editing your talk page, you'll see http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=User_talk:DavidJJJ&action=edit in your browser's address window. Highlight an old section, right-click-cut, then add something like "Archive01" to the address between "User_talk:DavidJJJ" and "&action=edit" so it reads http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=User_talk:DavidJJJ/Archive01&action=edit and then paste the text and click "Save" to create the page. Hope this helps. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 19:02, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Attention!

[edit]

Please stop copying stuff from my userpage without asking. It's really annoying. Would you mind if I reverted it to before you copied and pasted the stuff? --huntersquid 22:06, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I shouldn't have told you about wikipedia. You seem to like having an account but vandalising and using sockpuppets from school. I now see you archived your talk page to try to hide the fact that you vandalise and people know it. Vandalising wikipedia is not funny. You're an idiot also because reverts are not vandalism. You think you can get away with vandalising pages anonymously too? Think again. You should really think about what you're doing and start participating constructively.

huntersquid 20:34, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since what you contribute is under the GFDL, that's completely allowed. DavidJJJ's vandalism is another story. I still have no idea why you messed up my page and insulted me back then. Any particular reason? -- Consumed Crustacean | Talk | 09:26, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Esperanza!

[edit]

Welcome, DavidJJJ, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Updating soccer infoboxes

[edit]

Hi, I believe the edit you had made to Arsenal's Flamini needed a revert. This is because the infobox specifically talks about domestic appearances and domestic goals only. I used to go around 'updating' infoboxes too until I read the finer detail. Just to let you know. Chensiyuan 14:16, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk. Also, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 06:55, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm already involved in the article; please let me know if there's anything specific you'd like to see me handle. Meantime, thanks for the other note. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 15:25, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Yes, I should have left the wikibreak template. But I'm back now. BTW, do you know how to use Vandalproof? huntersquid 11:41, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmation

[edit]
  • My suspicions were right, it was Shirfield who was the vandal. I've ran some checks on his IP and it matches his. The IP is also from his ISP, tiscali. BTW, you haven't removed the Vandalproof userbox yet, have you? huntersquid 22:12, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • By the way, don't "vandalise" your own userpage. It is pointless and a bit obvious too when it is at 6 in the morning and you reverted it right afterwards. The IP has also been routed through layered technologies and a different server, which is also a giveaway. huntersquid 11:15, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I was just about to post the same thing you posted on my userpage a second before I received your message. It was the irish/shirfield vandal, and he IS using a proxy. I don't think he understands that any edits made to userpages other than by the users themselves is very suspicious. Anyway, good to see you're getting on in wikipedia, and it looks like you tried to nominate someone for adminship. Remember edit count is not too important. It's mainly experience in dealing with vandals, moving pages, etc. As for Shirfield, I think we should deal with him on Monday. huntersquid 12:20, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

September Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
  5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

RfA

[edit]

Hi. Thanks for offering to nominate me for adminship. While I am indeed flatterred that you deem me qualified enough for the job, I do not feel ready for the responsibility at the moment. I am currently trying to make a comeback after a long wikibreak, and first would like to get back to regular contributions first. Maybe a month or two from now, I will be ready for it. Again, thanks for the offer, anyway.

P.S:- Here you'll find how to nominate people for adminship. --soumসৌমোyasch 05:20, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page

[edit]
  • Could you please try not to edit my talkpage so often. Try to keep most of your points in one edit please, because the numerous repitive edits are annoying, as I constantly get the new messages notice when I am reading and it clogs up the history section. Just take a look at the history to see how many of the edits you have made are to my talk page. Just a simple request, thanks! I'll try to do the same with your userpage too. And your question about username change, you may have seen in my user contributions that I am changing my username. As soon as a bureaucrat is able to, they will do it. Any time my old username is clicked, I will place a redirect so that it will be redirected to my new one, so theres no need for any user to worry about it. I will be logged off for a duration though while the username is changed, so I will not be editing then. huntersquid 12:36, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Something minor, but could you also please class small edits, such as those made to blink-182 and Travis Barker, using the minor edits button. Because they were relatively small, such as changing one word or adding a template to the bottom (you added the description "improve page" to the Travis Barker page, which is an unhelpful and a bit misleading edit summary for adding a template). Also, thanks for letting RadioKirk know about the shirfield/irish vandal. It looks like he's at it again and he's vandalised RadioKirk's page also. If it is the shirfield/irish vandal (and I think it most likely is), He's going to be dealt with seriously on Monday, because enough is enough (even though I enjoy having to change the vandalism count userbox on my userpage :) ) And I'll also try to keep my edits to your talkpage under this heading. huntersquid 13:05, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Request: Could you please remove that Barnstar you posted on my userpage. It just seems a bit much to have three from the same user and it isn't formatted properly (caption isn't correctly displayed, etc)and it would be a bit hostile to remove it myself. Thanks anyway for it. By the way, instead of editing my userpage to get the code for the userboxes, you could have asked me to provide it for you. Could you write under it "template used from huntersquid's userpage" in small print and at least change the colour, width, background, text, etc. to make it not look exactly the same. The one on my userpage is not a normal way to group userboxes, and isn't really meant for them. I added the settings and custom code myself, but if you want to do what everyone else does, and is specially meant for userboxes, use:
{{Userboxtop|Example 1}}

{{User:Llama man/Userboxes/Sushi}}
{{Userboxbottom}}

which would make:

Whatever is written next to "userboxtop" becomes the title, and any userbox template sandwiched in the middle of the top and bottom lines is included, so basically remove the sushi one and add any you want, with each userbox on its own line. Hope this helps! --huntersquid 12:38, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • The same vandal is at it again. The IP is another proxy, and the articles vandalised, as well as the fact that both of our userpages were vandalised means that it was most likely the shirfield/irish vandal again. -huntersquid 15:01, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Don't know if you did it intentionally, but you deleted all the text in your talk page archive. I've reverted it. By the way, there's no link to your talk page archive at the top this page, so you should add one. Remember to use the preview changes button more often if it was an accident (and also when editing any page :) ). -huntersquid 15:22, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Adding information such as "he has a cat" or something like that is relevant, especially when the article is a biography. Haven't you seen any biography pages in your time in wikipedia? The important thing is, the user looks like they are not trying to be harmful, so don't use vandalism warnings for these kind of things. If the information is untrue however, that's a different story. -huntersquid <°)))>< Calamari Cove 20:55, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
