Acpurdy, Nice user page with some good links to your interests. I'm seeing everything but your enrollment on our course page. I put some extra instructions online just for this because so many people are stumbling over this part. It's actually pretty easy. Use one of the three descriptions available on our site. My video, the printed instructions or my special note. Crtew (talk) 18:16, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
I am having trouble enrolling in the course. I cannot find the token that we must enter in order to enroll in the course. Can you please help me? Acpurdy (talk) 21:41, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

I'd like to explore France! Amhibler (talk) 04:42, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
You are assigned to write about Jean-Jacques Bourdin who is a journalist (and a living person) from France.
I am having the worst time finding information about Jean-Jacques Bourdin. I enter his name on Google and there is very little information about him and the few that is about him is all in French, which my computer will not translate. Even when I search for articles on Reporters without Borders, Ifex, YouTube, etc. I am having low results to where I can not come up with good information. I am wondering if I could get a different journalist which I can access more information please, because the man I was assigned is almost impossible to retrieve info for. Thanks! Amhibler (talk) 04:43, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Cadupps1, welcome and I'm glad you picked this course to explore your major. Let's talk sometimes about what you would like to do and the best fit for you. You have completed ass the assignment tasks, but you need to tweak your user page. Add some links to Wikipedia articles. I added one for you -- USI. Hello Professor Tew! I researched my topic and found quite a bit of useful information. I'm having trouble though with two things that I still can't figure out. On my page I am not seeing a ribbon at the top of my page that I can click on to get my references and my sources on there the correct way. I just edited my page and put the sources in the correct place. I'm hoping they are correctly done, but I'm glad they are in there. The next thing I'm having trouble with is finding the info box. I feel like the answer to finding it is right in front of my face but I've been looking all over for it and cant find it. So if you could help me I'd appreciate it. Thanks! Answer is on your talk page! Crtew (talk) 02:14, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
Hello Professor Tew! You had told me to take a look at my sources because you were afraid they may not be reliable, and after taking another look I agree. So I went back and got some more reliable sources, mostly from the Lexis Nexus which was very helpful! I inserted my sources and finished up and I believe it is correct. Thanks! --Cadupps1 (talk) 20:29, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

You have been assigned to expand upon and perfect the currently assessed stub article of French-language, crime journalist Michel Auger of Canada. He wrote a book called The Biker Who Shot Me: Recollections of a Crime Reporter, and it looks to me like that may be where the current non-referenced information in the article originates. However, you can also independently source the information in the article from other publications and the press. He has won some important awards in journalism but his Wikipedia article is not good. There is also a French language Wikipedia article about him that is no better (but might have some further clues). [edit]Hello Professor Tew, I have finished the first two tasks; however I am very concerned seeing that these were due December thirty-first. I am hoping this is simply a misunderstanding on my behalf. Aside from that, I am very excited to get this course started and see how journalism works!Rmgraff (talk) 06:01, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
Thank you Rmgraff, I'll send out a response to your question today on our system! Crtew (talk) 13:02, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
Rmgraff, you have successfully completed all the steps. The reason you have red links on your user page is that the articles don't have a bold article name. Remove the bold marks and you'll have good wikilinks! Crtew (talk) 18:18, 17 January 2014 (UTC) Done
Rmgraff, You have been assigned Imad Abu Zahra who was shot and killed in in 2002 while reporting in Jenin, West Bank, in the occupied Palestinian territory of Israel.Crtew (talk) 03:45, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
Hello Professor Tew, I believe that my references, or wikipedia searches, are finished.--Rmgraff (talk) 20:15, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
I have added my photo and completely finished my Wiki project. Thank you Professor Tew.--Rmgraff (talk) 23:50, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Prof. I have completed the first two tasks from Blackboard Sflikens (talk) 18:28, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
Ok, I think it will be easy for you to finish up from here on. Partly done Crtew (talk) 18:52, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
The next step is picking out an area or a country I would like to explore. I would like to explore Israel, more specifically Jerusalem. Sflikens (talk) 20:27, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
You have been assigned to improve upon the stub article of Associated Press camera operator Nazeh Darwazi, who was shot and killed in Nablus, West Bank, while he reporting on the Second Intifada in the occupied territory in Israel. While you write this work in User:Sflikens/Nazeh_Darwazi and we will discuss moving sections to the main article as you improve it. Crtew (talk) 02:07, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

You are assigned to write about Sacha Jenkins (a living person) a US magazine publisher, TV producer and writer about Hip Hop music. Crtew (talk) 05:56, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
Gregorio Jiménez de la Cruz
[edit]Hi, Crtew. I hope this semester is treating you well. There is a journalist from Veracruz, Gregorio Jiménez de la Cruz, who was kidnapped by gunmen about a week ago and remains disappeared (given the circumstances and the players involved, he's most likely dead, but that's just me here). If any of your students is having trouble choosing a journalist or if you wish to have another option, an article about the case would pass the notability requirements. His disappearance has triggered days of protests in Veracruz (including the interruption of a press conference held by the governor's cabinet). Cheers, ComputerJA (☎ • ✎) 03:01, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
- His body was found today. Authorities concluded the motive was "personal vengeance". [2] ComputerJA (☎ • ✎) 00:27, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

WikiAssignment
[edit]I am having a hard time gathering information for this project, and on top of that my computer was stepped on earlier this week and has just now been given back to me. Is there a chance to have an extension until after Friday? If this cannot be done then I understand, and plan on still completing it before the end of tomorrow. Source Question
[edit]I just have a quick question about one of my sources. In the wikipedia outline that was already there for me, it says that a further account was given by Kevin Smith. The source, both you and I found, said his name was Keith Smith. What name would you like me to use? Pldaab (talk) 16:58, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
