Main page appearance: 1740 Batavia massacre
This is a note to let the main editors of 1740 Batavia massacre know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on September 4, 2012. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/September 4, 2012. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or his delegate Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:
The 1740 Batavia massacre was a pogrom against ethnic Chinese in the port city of Batavia in the Dutch East Indies. The violence inside the city lasted from 9 to 22 October 1740. Unrest in the Chinese population had been triggered by government repression and reduced income from falling sugar prices prior to the massacre. In response, at a meeting of the Council of the Indies, Governor-General Adriaan Valckenier declared that any uprising was to be met with deadly force. His resolution took effect on 7 October after hundreds of ethnic Chinese, many of them sugar mill workers, killed 50 Dutch soldiers. The Dutch dispatched troops who confiscated all weapons from the Chinese populace and placed the Chinese under a curfew. Two days later, after being frightened by rumours of Chinese atrocities, other Batavian ethnic groups began burning Chinese houses along Besar Stream and Dutch soldiers launched an assault using cannons on Chinese homes. The violence soon spread throughout Batavia, killing more Chinese. Although Valckenier declared an amnesty on 11 October, gangs of irregulars continued to hunt and kill Chinese until 22 October, when Valckenier called more forcefully for a cessation of hostilities. Historians have estimated that at least 10,000 ethnic Chinese were massacred. (more...)

Eraserhead
Hey man; since you're looking at the article is there a chance you could remove the "Iron Horse" thing? I've already done so three times tonight and it's clearly a non-notable entry (you have no idea how many un-notable covers of "In Heaven" I had to clear out of that thing). EDIT: Forgot my "please"; sorry, I'm jumping between this and Mark's Scientology article. :P GRAPPLE X 23:38, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

This is a note to let the main editors of Chrisye know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on September 16, 2012. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:
Chrisye (1949–2007) was a Chinese-Indonesian singer and songwriter. Born in Jakarta, he became interested in music as a teenager. After joining a band in the 1960s and playing in New York, in 1976 he and the band worked on a collaboration with Guruh Sukarnoputra. The success of this album led to Chrisye being approached for two projects: the song "Lilin-Lilin Kecil" ("Small Candles") and the album Badai Pasti Berlalu (The Storm Will Surely Pass). Both projects were highly successful, and as a result Chrisye was signed to Musica Studios. With them, he released nineteen studio albums before his death of lung cancer. Chrisye was known as a stiff stage performer but widely-praised for his vocal abilities. Rolling Stone Indonesia listed five of his albums and four of his songs as among the best in Indonesian music history; the magazine selected Chrisye as the third-best Indonesian musical artist of all time. His albums were mostly successful, and almost all were certified silver or higher. (more...)

Brit Floyd: The Pink Floyd Tribute Show
I would like to ask you to consider reinstating the Brit Floyd: The Pink Floyd Tribute Show. I am not in any way associated with the band. I noticed that they were going to be in concert at a local amphitheater and went to Wikipedia, as I often do, to find out more about the band, it's history and what critics think about this band. After seeing that the page no longer exists, I searching google, is appears as there is sufficient activity to support it's presence on Wikipedia. Thank you so much for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chandler760 (talk • contribs) 20:49, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

...appear to have a consensus for support, haven't been closed, and are stuck in the archives? This seems to happen to mine (that you participated in). I'm not really sure it can be closed, because it is in the archives. But more importantly, I think people seem to be behind the idea and I'd like to see it happen or help to make it happen. Do you know what happens with these sorts of proposals? Is there someone I should be contacting? I haven't done a proposal before, so I'm not sure what comes next. - Excellent work, again. Hey, I took out your bitch: it's really too crass. "Lekker wijf" was a perfectly acceptable expression in those days--"tasty woman"--and while it was somewhat vulgar it wasn't as crass as our modern-day "bitch". And thanks also for writing Pleuni up. Happy editing, Drmies (talk) 13:54, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, I was basing it off Google. Not too key to understanding her. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:55, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- Wait--wasn't it betel juice, not blood? Two of the sources you found mention blood, but one of them in quotes. I know I saw it somewhere. Drmies (talk) 13:57, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm... I was just going with the sources. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:03, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- Found it, "sirihsap", in the most unreliable source of them all--the Dutch wiki article. Yes, that's what it is: reliable sources are available. This is as authoritative as it gets, and it goes into detail about that scene. Here's another one. Drmies (talk) 14:11, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- Don't think I saw those ones when going through Google. So it is supposed to be betel juice? — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:16, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yep. Applied with syringes for maximum precision. Those papers (and many other Dutch publications), NRC Handelsblad and Trouw, for some reason don't show up easily in News searches, which is very irritating since they have great coverage, great writers, and a decent archive, so don't be surprised if you can't find anything and you know it must be there somewhere. Often I go to their websites and search their archives without the intermediary of Google. What I found for Paul van Ass, for instance, I got using that method--hardly any of it came by way of Google. I thought I hit a dead end and then searched the archive for Algemeen Dagblad--turns out it's a goldmine for hockey. Drmies (talk) 14:34, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- I'll have to remember that when I write articles about the Netherlands. Thanks! — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:36, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

Crisco, you reviewed this over a week ago, and noted bare refs and questioned some of the sources. It looks like JohnnyMrNinja fixed the one strictly bare ref and did nothing else. Since this is an odd one anyway—Johnny started the expansion on July 22 (DYKcheck says it's still 5x going back only to July 23, and the first big chunk was added less than an hour and a half before midnight), and created the nomination template on July 29. He seems to have forgotten to add it to T:TDYK until September 10. Anyway, I think it's for you to decide on the next step. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:33, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Hi Crisco 1492. I'm leaving you this message because you have previously been involved as an adopter with Wikipedia's Adopt-a-user program. A clean-up of this program is currently underway, and as part of the process I am trying to find out who is and isn't still interested in remaining an adopter.
If you would prefer not to be part of the adoption program anymore, you need do nothing; when the overhaul of the project is completed your name will be removed from the list of active adopters. However, if you have current adoptees, an active adoption school or an interest in adopting in the near future, then please let us know by signing here.
If you want to remain in the project and can currently take on more adoptees, there is a serious backlog at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user; it would be enormously helpful if you could take on one or two of the users there. Please do keep an eye on the project for upcoming changes, we could use your opinions and your help! Yunshui 雲水 08:59, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

I've recently updated the list of adopters and I have included you, per your original comments on that page and your comments at User:Yunshui/Overhaul/Adopters staying on. You can see your new profile at the list of adopters. Why not update your profile with an image and maybe have another look at your description? You can also include a list of any adoptees you currently have. If you are also willing to mentor problematic users, possibly as part of a conditional unblock, please include "mentorship=yes" in your profile. Thanks again for all your help. Military history project membership
G'day Crisco 1492, I'm not sure if you are already a member or not, but if you aren't I'd like to encourage you to become an official member of the Military history project. I've had a look at a number of the articles you are working on around the topic of Indonesian military history and they are very impressive. If you wish to join, you can do so by adding your name here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Members. One of the benefits of signing up is that you will receive the project's monthly newsletter – The Bugle – and you can also vote in the project's current co-ordinator election. Of course, there is no requirement for you to sign up, and if you chose not to, your articles will still be well received. Thanks for your contribution to the encyclopedia. - You're right, I probably should. I think I've got like 20 milhist articles or so. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:44, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
Hello and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you are interested, or you can add it directly to your user page by copying the following: {{WPMILHIST Announcements}}.
- Important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, and article logistics.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a set of guidelines that cover article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention, as well as a number of review alerts.
- If you have an idea for improving the project, we have a strategy think tank that provides a dedicated forum for discussing it.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask any of the project coordinators or any other experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome, and we are looking forward to seeing you around! AustralianRupert (talk) 11:11, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Jadi, artikel anda masih kurang referensi. O, ya, saya hampir sy lupa:

Sudah ada kalimat "The film featured seven kroncong songs by R Koesbini which were sung by the main cast" - "Film ini termasuk tujuh lagu oleh R. List of songs recorded by Chrisye
Hi, Thanks for closing this RM out. Could you help closing the other RMs out?
- List of Frank Sinatra songs
- List of Harry Connick, Jr. songs
- List of songs recorded by Elvis Presley
- List of Leona Lewis songs
- List of Shakira songs
At long last we are beginning to get some consistency and understandable names for this category! Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 11:22, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
- Perhaps with a bit more discussion. The one at WP:SONGS didn't look very well participated in. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:56, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

- Okay, thanks. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:16, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
- Would you be able to fix List of Faith No More songs as well? I felt that ove was particularly egregious due to the list containing a good few covers; "I Started a Joke" isn't quite a Faith No More song after all. GRAPPLE X 13:17, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

"DNA Tribes" request review of undeletion
Per http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/DNA_Tribes, the Wikipedia article for the DNA Tribes was deleted. However, the Wikipedia entries for several other prominent DNA ancestry testing firms (such as http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Family_Tree_DNA and http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/GeneTree) were not similarly deleted. In addition to commercial testing, DNA Tribes is distinguished from competitors by publishing extensive analysis of world genetic structure (http://dnatribes.com/library.html). Can this deletion be opened to further discussion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.243.105.116 (talk) 17:13, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
- The other articles were not deleted as they were not nominated. If there are no reliable, third party sources about DNA Tribes then it is not able to be kept. Perhaps you could try creating a version at WP:AFC, to show the article can meet the criteria. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:05, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

Crisco, you pulled this article from a queue or prep because of issues being discussed on WT:DYK as to sourcing. It's just been re-reviewed by a brand new reviewer, and I think needs another pair of eyes to make sure the revisions have done what was needed. I'm already working with Futurist on a couple of other noms, and don't want it to look like I'm on his or her case by taking on another. Can I ask you to take this one? Thanks. New software
Hi,
After recent software changes there is one tool I frequently use in edit mode which I can not use now together with enhanced editing toolbar that I like to have. I don't know exact name of this tool, but it was right below edit box and contained a lot of Wiki markup commands (like {{}} {{{}}} | [] [[]] [[Category:]] #REDIRECT [[]] <s></s> <code></code> <pre></pre> <blockquote></blockquote> <ref name=""/> {{#tag:ref||group="nb"|name=""}} {{Reflist}} <references/> <includeonly></includeonly> <noinclude></noinclude> {{DEFAULTSORT:}} <nowiki> </nowiki>).
Is there anything I could do to keep this tool active together with enhanced editing toolbar?
If there is some link which explains this issue better please just point to it and don't bother writing.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 22:51, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

- POV Warriors of all stripes WP:INFEST this place; of course they rewrite wiki-history, too.
- Hmm... you know, I'm reading Wellek and Warren's Theory of Literature right now, and I can't help but draw parallels between their descriptions of an editor's work and the work necessary to really understand the history of this place. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:55, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- Terima kasih. Prolly worth a look at the deleted revs of {{NOT}} when it was at {{Unencyclopedic}}. The talk and archives were full of efforts to kill the very word. Led by Cas :/ It took the inclusionists five TfDs to delete this. Br'er Rabbit (talk) 13:47, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi Crisco! When you find the time, can you please leave comments at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Going, Going, Gone (Grey's Anatomy)/archive1? It's another fairly short one. Thanks, TRLIJC19 (talk • contribs) 00:28, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- "When you have the time" is fairly key there. I'll try. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:30, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
Chrisye
I just noticed that Chrisye got promoted to Featured article and wanted to congratulate you. Not only did you do great work on your own, you managed to secure the valuable participation of Malleus and a few others. Well done! -- Ohconfucius ping / poke 02:26, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. It was a rough ride though. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 05:13, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

About Task 2.(b.)
My next task is - Expand an article two-fold (x2), with references.
I can't understand it's actual meaning. Does it want to says that I expand a article to just double of it current size or something else ? Please tell. Thanks.--ARUN SHARMA 101Talk|Email 12:54, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- Pretty much, and all the text has to be referenced. I'd suggest something short to start. When working on articles, we should not neglect previously existing articles; those are, at times, the most important of them all. Compare the current revision of Sudirman with what it looked like last year.
- Since you like literature, maybe something like writer would be an easy enough 2x expansion. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:42, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
NavBar
I have tried to create a NavBar, like yours on my user page, I have copied the code and modified it, and the contributions and photos links are wrong and all messed up, it is at User:TheChampionMan1234/sandbox, your help will be greatly appreciated. --The'ChampionMan1234' 05:58, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

Jalak hitam
Begini, kang. Sy punya artikel jalak hitam. Lalu sy meniru gaya penulisan referensi ala Kang Cris. Jadi, bagian manakah yang penulisannya salah? --Muhammad Adi Akbar Attauhidin 07:28, 5 October 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adi.akbartauhidin (talk • contribs)

- Oh, itu. Yang digunakan dalam teks bukan sfnref, tetapi sfn. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:31, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

Article needing attention
Hi, I was just gnoming and noticed the Supriyadi article is in need of a little of your attention. The article seems to be a fair amount of editorialising, and could do with a thorough copyedit back to the source; there are no online sources cited. Cheers, -- Ohconfucius ping / poke 16:10, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Nuked that section as a possible (probable) copyvio) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:52, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- I've never seen it done that way before... Is that the new way of nuking copyvios? -- Ohconfucius ping / poke 03:00, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
- The proper term is revdelete. I didn't mean nuke like in WP:NUKE. It's been around for a while, The Shirelles had some revisions deleted last year. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:58, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
