Regarding the article on PEO, as is said in the article, PEO is a secret organization and the meaning of PEO is intended to remain secret.

Learn to do things manually
I assume you are using the "AFC Helper Script" to do AFC reviews. If not, ignore what I'm about to say because it doesn't apply.
It helps to understand how the script works "behind the scenes." The next time you decline or accept a submission, go check your contributions and look at the edits the script made for you. Study them. Compare the before-and-after of each edit.
This way, if you make a mistake like accidentally checking the "afc cleared" box you'll be several steps closer to knowing how to fix the problem by yourself.
By the way, the general rule of scripts, gadgets, etc. that make edits on your behalf is 1) you are responsible for the edit, 2) because you are responsible, it helps to know the effects of the edits, and 3) the best way to learn the effects of the edits is to study the edits.
If you get to the point that you can both accept and decline submissions "by hand," without using the script, then you'll know that you understand the script enough to undo any damage done by an incorrect setting. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 04:29, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks! I know that I'm responsible for the edit, and that's part of why I wanted to get this resolved ASAP. The suggestion of looking at the bot edits is great, and I will certainly do that with AfC Helper Script (yes, I am using it) and any other scripts that I use/will use. Sorry about the whole situation. Cogito-Ergo-Sum (14) (talk) 21:54, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

You can fix the formatting error, sorry.
I removed that content because it was poorly formatted. There was a better way to insert it, and it was directly contradicting the previous statement in an unencyclopedic manner. Since I'm clearly not versed in wikipedia's formatting I simply removed the statement. Since it was referenced later in the article, and appears to have been inserted purely to contradict the previous one (perhaps on ideological grounds), I determined that wikipedia wouldn't be at a loss for removing that.
Since this was clearly a mistake on your part, don't worry: I've removed the restored content.
Yes, the last sentence was condescending. It was intentionally so, so you can understand how condescending your statement on my IP page is. I'm a semi-regular contributor to wikipedia, I have had at least two accounts over the years (both of which are long since abandoned) but never bothered to dive further in than grammar or continuity, and I despise the formatting language of wikipedia and flatly refuse to learn it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.190.94.170 (talk) 21:41, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
Oh, and feel free to re-insert the information in a more concise, appropriate manner befitting the information as it's relevant to the section. I don't have any inherent opposition to it, it's just terribly formatted.
Obviously you know how, with this page being so lovely, carefully formatted and curated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.190.94.170 (talk) 21:43, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
- So sorry about my mistake; please see my comments on your talk page. Thanks! Cogito-Ergo-Sum (14) (talk)
- you're fine. I just hate editing Wikipedia - doubly so because I'm doing it from a mobile device. I'm way too lazy for the formatting. I'm sure my ip will rotate out and we'll lose communication, but don't worry - no hard feelings about the preformatted message. I assumed the worst and I apologize for that, and I can understand why you would think it was vandalism. I didn't leave a reason. 70.190.94.170 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 04:55, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
Oatstraw Redirect
Thank you for your part in creating the redirect! If this is not the space to convey such things, please forgive me. Thank you also for your welcome to Wikipedia, which encourages me to discover more about how Wikipedia functions. I cannot say I even knew there were such things as "talk pages" until today.
I also realized how much longer and more detailed my request for the redirect was than other similar requests, but I had never made one before and the realization came to me only after completing the process of making the request when it appeared on a page with so many other requests that were incredibly short. They reminded more of text messages than face-to-face, real world communication where people actually hold conversations from time to time, which is of far more value to humanity in my personal opinion. Therefore, as a person who values clear communication and would not know, I ask you: is it common to see such a lack of clarity in the requests for redirects and the creation or writing of articles, etc.?
I do not mean to waste my time writing a novella to you or to waste your time reading it. I mean only to discover your observations concerning the use of Wikipedia by multiple users in a similar fashion as I have recently used it so as to save time in any future contributions if such length or detail is not necessary. I make inquiry in part due to your comment thanking me for the detail of my request, and also in part due to the impressively short requests made by others combined with the possibility that you may have intended your comment to be sarcastic, which is a common trait among some people. However, sarcastic comments are not as clearly communicated in writing as they are more clearly communicated in verbal speech due to its dependency upon vocal inflection and the fact that sound is absent in written communication. Thus, it is not clear, despite your welcome, if your comment was intended to seem sincere or sarcastic.
The point of my inquiry is less your intent when posting the (possibly sarcastic?) comment and more the discovery of your observations concerning the process of making contributions to Wikipedia, which is (obviously) new to me.
Thanks again for your part in creating the redirect from "Oatstraw" to "Oats." Thank you also for your time.

Your request for rollback
Hi CogitoErgoSum14. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! AdmrBoltz 15:26, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Do you think we can get this page protected? Vandals have been wiping the page of a well-sourced and notable scandal for about two years now. Their edit summaries show a common motive, and they clearly aren't editing in good faith.74.106.243.248 (talk) 23:36, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
Hello CogitoErgoSum14. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).
