Battle of Kursk
[edit]The description given in the article - Germans beated by flank attack - is wrong. This battle was not won by Russians, Hitler stopped the attacks because of the allied invasion of Italy. The elite-divisions were retreated from the russian front to Italy. Marshal von Manstein later spoke of the lost victory. --2A02:8109:1540:2898:FCA9:9874:6692:E8D2 (talk) 21:52, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
- Modern books on the topic accept that there was no massive defeat of German armoured forces at Prokhorovka, this was a Soviet myth. In reality it was Soviet armoured forces that were badly mauled. Manstein's account is also a myth however. The modern literature also judges that the battle of Kursk did not decide the war. Martijn Meijering (talk) 20:42, 19 December 2015 (UTC)
It could be true that the battle at Prokhorovka was not won by the Russians in a strict military sense but the panzer divisions were badly mauled, the wikipedia page for the battle of Kursk claims that almost a thousand german tanks and assault guns were destroyed or damaged in *JUST 11 DAYS". If Hitler would have followed the Manstein advice to go ahead with the offensive after Prokhorovka the Russians would have been on the outskirst of Berlin by the end of that year. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.51.144.67 (talk) 21:21, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
