nominate Wad el-Mahi to WP:DYK
[edit]Hi, I wonder if you are interested to nominate Wad el-Mahi to Did you know. The article will get a good exposure by being on the mainpage and you will also get feedback on your work. You need to find an interesting hook like:
- ... that the temperature in Wad el-Mahi is raising by 1 °C (34 °F) every year due to climate change?
- ... that Wad el-Mahi witness intense fighting between Hausa on one side, and Berta and Funj on the other side?
let me know what you think FuzzyMagma (talk) 13:00, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
- How do I nominate it Chomik1129 (talk) 13:18, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

I have moved the article you started to Draft:Ibrahim Biari. This is because, as a non-ECM editor, you are not allowed to edit articles on the topic of Palestine/Israel conflict; the link to this remedy is here. I realise you may not have been aware of this. Thank you, Black Kite (talk) 19:06, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- This is an unusual situation as the "500 edits" restriction described in the blue box below does not contain an exception for drafts. I have thus protected the draft and you could request edits to it on its talk page.
- For now (382 of the required 500 edits) I recommend having a look at the Task Center and the community portal for ideas unrelated to the Arab-Israeli conflict. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:07, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Djibo and a thank-you
[edit]Hello! Just wanted to say that it was great that you wanted add an update on Djibo's situation. I hope you aren't sad or upset that I merged the articles; it just seems that the latest attack is firmly part of the overall siege, as the sources also generally say. IMO, the battle article was not long enough to warrant its separation from the siege article.
Anyway, seeing as you have recently updated so many conflict articles (and as a little consolation for my intervention), I wanted to give you a barnstar as an acknowledgement of your hard work. I hope you like it!

In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Also don't mark an edit like the one I reverted as minor. Sangsangaplaz (talk) 14:21, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- My apologies. I didn’t remove anything from the page, I just changed the reference format so the repeat citations were re-used instead of separate from each other. I should’ve been more clear about that in the edit summary. I appreciate you for correcting my mistake though, thank you! :) Chomik1129 (talk) 14:32, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
