AIV report for 76.66.57.198

[edit]

Next time, please include diffs of things you believe to be vandalism. Also, please review WP:VAND#NOT. POV edits are specifically excluded from vandalism. Further, you jumped straight to AIV without posting a single notice to the IP user's talk page--While posting to talk pages is all well and good, none of them bring up that jarring orange banner like posts to a user's own talk page does. Them Romans

[edit]

Hello CL, thanks for dropping by. I have looked over your reverts and they seem wholly justified by the literature and the citations. I was hoping to add to the bibliography but I see you have the main sources up already, and I do not have access to my library at the moment. Good luck looking after things, and let me know if you need a second opinion. Haiduc (talk) 23:35, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

taking the piss here.

[edit]

i'm sorry, what does that mean? Cheers, Dlohcierekim 04:08, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Shoulda guessed. I thought it sounded like a Britishism. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 15:46, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

discussion about cadio

[edit]

This is about the article "cadio" that I post last January 3 of this year. At first, I never complained about the deletion of my article because I don't have yet my references. I don't know how to put links to it. Now, having these references, I could come up with a petition. If you will delete this article, then what's the point of having a legal reference. Meaning, the reference does not only pertains to the book's content but shows a certificate of copyright registration and deposit in the Philippines.Andygold7 (talk) 11:46, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have closed this AfD as keep. Since you explicitly stated you had no real opinion and the only delete vote was based on false pretenses, there were essentially no delete votes. I notice that Phil Bridger improved the sources when removing the PROD you had placed there, so I'm frankly unsure why you nominated this without checking the new sources first. Anyway, I felt there was little to no chance of the article being deleted, therefore the early close. Beeblebrox (talk) 17:04, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

re: AfD of Cadio

[edit]

Hi CaveatLector. This is about the deletion of Cadio that I’m still contesting. My last talk was with MBisanz and he told me to ask you about the AfD Cadio because according to him, he is not an expert on the field that I’m contesting. As of the moment MBisanz placed my article in User:Andygold7/Cadio to ask help at the helpdesk on referencing and notability before I should consider remaking the article. Since MBisanz is asking for references, I have included additional information on my article such as: •CADIO McDonald’s 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 •CADIOcannedProgram for McDonald's - Played in McDonald's Stores in the Philippines (Made by CADIO Advertising) 7. On the other hand, please also examine the connection of Cadio to narrowcasting or narrowcast. Narrowcasting is considered a coverage or a place where something can be known. For example, a supermarket is a narrowcast coverage when you play music with commercial using their audio system and ceiling speakers; and it’s being heard by shoppers. Now, the only way to come-up with an interactive way of narrowcasting within the supermarket is by using cadio devise and system. Cadio system is like an FM radio. FM radio uses transmitters to broadcast in an authorized coverage, maybe a big city or a small one. It has two ways to reach its market. One is using a radio station (devise and system) to send sound or information and two is using a radio set (devise and system) to receive it. Likewise, cadio has its devise and system too before music and commercials is played in a supermarket. By using an audio software like adobe audition, cadio can make a canned music and commercial production in an mp3 file format, and play it later in the supermarket using its mp3 player or audio system. On the other hand, cadio can also use a live program by placing a booth with a disc jockey (that sounded like an FM radio program) in a supermarket. In order for the audience to hear the music and commercial, cadio uses a radio software program such as station playlist or ots dj operated by a disc jockey or cadio jock to let the shoppers hear its sound and information (also music with commercial). Again, this is done live. Next, cadio hooks up its audio devise and system to the supermarket’s sound system; then the music and commercial that is being played by the cadiojock from its booth system can be heard in their ceiling speakers by its shoppers and buyers. Cadio has done this devise and system in McDonald’s stores/restaurant in the Philippines. Kindly check its additional references on McDonald’s events. This makes cadio more notable. Having these in mind, can you please examine my article again and give comments so I would know my stand and next move? Andygold7 (talk) 06:11, 25 January 2009 (UTC) 06:10AM, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Andy,
I am not an 'expert' in the field of electronics or electronic advertising; however, that does not really matter in this case. What matters regarding the article you authored is notability. The sources you have provided still do not show why Cadio is notable. Assertions of its uniqueness are just that: assertions until a 3rd party source (that means something that is NOT on Cadio's website or is in any way produced as an advertisement for Cadio) talks about Cadio in this light. This means something on the level of CNet or Wired magazine.
If you can provide these reliable sources, I would support the inclusion of the article in Wikipedia.
But please also know that this decision is NOT up to me. You should familiarize yourself with the guidelines of Notability, reliable sources (linked above), and the manual of style as well as the articles for deletion process. I nominated your article for deletion because it reads like an advertisement (and the version now at User:Andygold7/Cadio still does).

Hello, Fellow de-orphaner!

[edit]

I noticed you added your name to the list of participants in WikiProject Orphanage. We really appreciate your help! The first things you could do to get started with us are:

 1. Read the Wikipedia:WikiProject Orphanage page, especially the section marked "Criteria". The page contains a lot of good advice to get you started, as well as the standard procedures we are using to de-orphan articles.
 2. Look at orphan, do-attempt, and articleissues closely and make sure you know how to use them correctly. (It's not difficult, but it is easy to screw up. Trust me, I have.)
 3. Keep de-orphaning! Category:Orphaned articles contains all orphaned articles organized by month. Right now we're just trying to keep up with all the new orphans being created, so please start with the current monthly category. Once those are cleared out, we can start working on the backlog in reverse-chronological order.
Of course, you may have already known all of this, in which case sorry for the spam. Either way, let me know if there's any way I can help you contribute more to the project!

Thanks for that fix to the intro - I was focusing on making the intro paragraph about her rather than defining her by him - but I didn't go far enough. You did, and thanks - it reads much better now. Nice to meet you. Tvoz/talk 06:23, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You should come hang out with us on the internetz!

[edit]

Hi! I wanted to let you know that we have created an IRC channel for "countering systemic bias one new editor at a time", aka closing the gender gap! Come hang out at #wikimedia-gendergap if that subject interests you. We hope this channel can serve as a safe haven to hang out, talk about Wiki, brainstorming, increasing women's participation in Wikimedia, article alerts and foster friendships. I hope you join us! Wiki Loves Pride 2014

[edit]

Hi CaveatLector. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! --Another Believer (Talk) 16:27, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride!

Notice

The article Haitian (Heroes) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline requirement nor the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (fiction) supplementary essay. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
