Hotchkiss Rankings

[edit]

Hey bro i provided the external sources you asked for can you please upgrade Hotchkiss' rank now ? It seems that American schools are grossly underrepresented on this site. (Milton, Groton, Deerfield, and St.Paul school, and Choate are all better than or equal to schools such as wellington and eton please reconsider these schools as well). Thanks mate. Bye I think that evereser has single handedly managed to destroy the hotchkiss page i don't know if i have it in me to work on it anymore. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.6.214.3 (talk) 06:18, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work on Hillary

[edit]

Caleb, You're a great photographer with a lot of potential. I can't say I'm supporting the woman but the photo is very good! I wish I could have been there but you did a great job. --Ryanjcole (talk) 20:24, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I was also amazed by the quality of your Hillary Clinton picture. May I have permission to use a thumbnail size version of it for an assignment in my journalism class? Obviously it would have the necessary attribution. I promise I won't profit off of it ;). Bardiak (talk) 23:16, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Will do, Thanks a lot. -Bardiak (talk) 00:44, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Moss Motorsports, LLC requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. D-Day (talk) 11:12, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your willingness to contribute photos. Some of us at Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places are working toward capturing pictures and writing articles for all of the sites on the National Register of Historic Places. We are well on our way for Ramsey, Hennepin, Dakota, and Scott Counties. We could use some help and incentive to work on Rice County. Here are the sites in Northfield to get you started. Saavedra

[edit]

What information should I add to the Abelardo Saavedra article? WhisperToMe (talk) 18:59, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Okay, I added some stuff about the CCISD alcohol incidents. But, uhm, what should I say that Saavedra did while at Houston ISD? Which accomplishments would be credited to him, and which accomplishments would not be credited to him? WhisperToMe (talk) 19:42, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the team, if you need any help with assessments just ask. Camaron | Chris (talk) 16:19, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent, I have moved your assessments in the assessment request listing down into the main assessment log so a record of your assessments is kept. I will try and go through them if I have the time. Camaron | Chris (talk) 17:21, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest you just cross out assessment requests in the assessment requests section and sign as I do; then place actual comments on the assessment on the main assessment summaries section. The content of assessment request is frequently deleted while that in the assessment summaries is kept. I have moved more of your assessments so they are not lost. Camaron | Chris (talk) 20:22, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

high

[edit]

Hi ... thanks for the note. I agree its high but I would have given it a stsrt (as a B requires quite a few third party refs ... and they are not here). It also has a lot of "peacock language" ... better they quote independent reviewers and ref them . I see Chris is looking after you ... you'll do well Victuallers (talk) 08:46, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edison High School

[edit]

Hi! Not sure why you took the stub category off of Edison High School (Minnesota). Seems pretty darn stubby to me (and I wrote most of it). I've put it back. Curious what your reasoning is. Nice pics, BTW --Natcase (talk) 03:52, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jasper Place High School Assessment

[edit]

Awesome, thanks very much--I'll get to work on it. DreamHaze (talk) 04:01, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Plagarism removed from Shawnigan Lake School article.

[edit]

Please see talk page of Shawnigan Lake School. I discovered that the History section was a near word-for-word plagiarism of http://www.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/cgi-bin/text2html/finding/government/.ms_finding//MS-1485.txt and this needs to cited correctly. It is cited in-text once, but that is it.

I discovered this during a requested assessment of this article. The rest looks good. — Calebrw (talk) 21:09, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know and for helping out with assessments, we need more dedicated assessors and you seem to be showing some gusto. First, thank you for removing the plagiarized content. As I don't do a google search of every article I assess I often miss this sort of thing. Second, I don't mean to be nitpicky but it is probably best not to copy over the whole request to the assessment on the Assessments page as the strike-throughs are a little misleading, probably just me but I like the assessment archive to look clean so people can se what's being done. Last, you might take a crack at rewriting the removed history section to avoid plagiarism and then cite it correctly. Remember that many of these articles are written by those unfamiliar with wikipedia "best practices" so it's always best to lend a helping hand and not just point to the problem. Overall, it looks like you're doing great work. Keep it up and you'll be an "Experienced" assessor in no time flat. Adam McCormick (talk) 05:30, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you should consider posting assessments on each article's talk page using the "info" parameter of the banner, this adds a greeting and and explanation of who you are along with your assessment. Adam McCormick (talk) 05:33, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It was me that copied the entire assessment request over so the assessment comments were archived correctly, I did have the time to go through and remove the assessment request themselves. I have now finished this off. Camaron | Chris (talk) 17:30, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have had to remove the contents on the talk page as it is copyrighted and cannot stay on any name space on Wikipedia. Camaron | Chris (talk) 18:57, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the assessment!

[edit]

Thank you for taking the time to assess Windham High School (Windham, Ohio). I agree with your assessment, and will be working to improve the article. -- JeffBillman (talk) 17:17, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

[edit]

After watching your actions at WP:WPSCH/A, I think you deserve this:

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
I award Celebrw this barnstar for being a productive contributor to the assessment team at WikiProject Schools. In particular managing to massively reduce the horrendous backlog with assessment requests. Well done! Camaron | Chris (talk) 18:01, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Articleissues

[edit]

I'm concerned about the manner in which you are using {{Articleissues}}. I'm sure you are applying the template with the best of intentions, but you seem to be adding every possibly relevant tag. I imagine you're considering it from the standpoint of categories - it's certainly helpful to add articles to the cleanup categories - but please consider, also, what you are doing to the appearance of the article, and the effect it will have on the article's editors. Look at this version of an article you recently tagged: you added 17 tags to a 7 sentence article. Five of those tags are related to citations. You've also tagged it as needing both a copyedit and a complete rewrite, and marked it with two general cleanup tags. If I were a regular editor of this article, I'd be appalled, frankly. Please reconsider your approach: wouldn't everyone be better served if you use only the most relevant tags? Thank you. Maralia (talk) 03:56, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem. Fixed. — Calebrw (talk) 16:05, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, great job on this article! It was quite poor when I found it, but you've turned it into a highly encyclopedic piece of work! Thank you and well done! GlassCobra 01:00, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I went there, so I want to make it the best I can. — Calebrw (talk) 03:30, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't quite recall how I found this article. I believe I may have been tracking Killerkiki123, perhaps from the recent changes feed. In any case, I tried to clean it up a little and remove some of the egregious POV, but you've really done a great job with it. Thanks again! GlassCobra 04:40, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have taken a look at it and re-assessed it for you as requested. Camaron | Chris (talk) 14:04, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orinda Academy

[edit]

I remove the speedy delete tag you added to Orinda Academy as it fails to meet the requirements for speedy deletes as the article has been edited by several different users. I did replace it with the copyright vio tag as you are correct regarding the copyvio problem. Dbiel (Talk) 01:34, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I just mark them that way as I go through School articles. Since I do assessment, I don't concentrating on deletion procedures. PS: Please reply on my page. Calebrw (talk) 01:59, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

North Minneapolis Wiki

[edit]

Hi, I'm trying to contact wiki editors who'd like to help with a Wiki project for North Minneapolis. It is only in it's beginning stages and could use the help of veteran wiki editors to get it going.

The reason for the project is to help connect people to the pleathora of resources and history that exist in North Minneapolis. The potential for this site to be used by non-profits, librarians, teachers and others to help connect neighbors to community resources could be huge. It would also be a way to document the positive stories and efforts in North Minneapolis,

I've chosen to build the site at northminneapolis.wikispaces.com [1] primarily because wikispaces has the only easy to use visual editor for a wiki site that I could find.

If you have any thoughts or input on the project feel free to contact me. [2]

Archibald Mill

[edit]

Thanks again for providing Rice County pictures and thanks for creating Archibald Mill. A couple of notes:

  1. You can add new nrhp articles to the top of Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places/New articles if you want to. (I usually add MN ones if the author doesn't do it.)
  2. You can use the powerful Elkman's infobox generator to create new nrhp articles. It does a lot of the legwork for us and produces consistent-looking stubs.--Appraiser (talk) 12:53, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your Assessment

My belated thanks for assessing Los Altos High School (Los Altos, California). I will work on improving the articles based on your suggestions when I get the time, (more specifically after my FAC request is done). --haha169 (talk) 22:26, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

King's School, Ely

[edit]

Hi, thanks again for your review and help. I have done as much as I can, and have really exhausted the internet for all its worth, I have cleaned up and made uniform the references, cited facts that you had flagged...apart from 1 - the dissoluton of the monestary fact which I simply cannot find a concrete specific example of Ely being involved in, although its accepted across all of the other King's wikis that it happened - and the school is named after the event! But since it is not cited do you think it should be removed?

I have also alphabasised, increased the number of, and fully referenced the alumni. I have removed one where there was not a good reference of his attendance (I just knew he had...).

I have added a link to an ofcom inspection, I have given the page coordinates, and have added disambiguation at the top.

I have done a spelling check and checked that prose makes sense, but then some people read things differently to me so hopefully a peer review can help with this! :)

I don't know what the next step, re: peer review, nomination etc. is so I was wondering if you could help me out with that?

Thanks so much for your help today. rocketman89 (talk) 23:12, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Increased ridership has prompted southern Minnesota leaders to plan for an expansion of Amtrak's service in the area, including an overhaul of Saint Paul's Union Station, a move Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty supports.[66]" I guess it's kinda relevant to the article since it will mean that its a serious move but I don't think Pawlenty will be around by the time its actually done. .:davumaya:. 19:27, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Da Silvas

[edit]

Yes, I am aware that the two of them are listed as #98 and #99 on the squad list on the official site, but Rafael's page has a note at the end of it saying that he has not actually been given #99, and that it's just a placeholder until the Premier League squad numbers are announced at the start of the season. Presumably the same applies for Fabio. To be honest, the squad list on the official site is notoriously unreliable for things like this, and we should probably get a better source, such as the Premier League's website. – PeeJay 18:59, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Emdashes

[edit]

According to WP:DASH, "Em dashes should not be spaced. Because em dashes are visually striking, it is preferable to avoid using more than two in a single paragraph. The roles of more than two em dashes in a single sentence can be unclear. Spaced en dashes – such as here – can be used instead of unspaced em dashes in all of the ways discussed above. Spaced en dashes are used by several major publishers, to the complete exclusion of em dashes. One style should be used consistently in an article." – PeeJay 16:55, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

International Academy article

[edit]

I have a question: I'm wondering why the International Academy is being classed as only "High" importance rather than "Top" importance. It was the first public all-International-Baccalaureate school in North America, so it is somewhat historic. It has also been instrumental in promoting the IB curriculum across the U.S. I'm saying you should at least consider it for Top importance. I saw a lot of schools on the Top importance list that did seem nearly as notable. Beggarsbanquet (talk) 03:10, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

re: 2003-03 season

[edit]

I must have slept through that one. I suppose Liverpool won that season. Haha, bad joke. Latics 04:05, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikinews template vandalism

[edit]

I've seen that vandal at work on Wikipedia - he did threaten to start vandalising other wikis. If you want to prevent it in future, you could employ cascading protection on the main page and make sure the high risk templates are protected. Hut 8.5 10:53, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jobs

[edit]

No idea what it means. But it certainly didn't belong in the article as placed; if the anon feels strongly, he/she/it can come back and explain what's going on. - DavidWBrooks (talk) 15:48, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

speedies

[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I think the article on Paul Christie clearly shows context, whatever other faults it may have. Speedy tags have a specific meaning, and their use is explained at WP:CSD N context means it can be be figured out what the article is about, and that';s not the case. Its about a particular named wrestler. The policy with speedies is that anyone other than the original author may remove them, admin or not, and if they are so removed in apparent good faith they cannot be put back but some other deletion method used. The Wikipedia deletion policy is explained at WP:DP, and the basis of it is that deletion is the last resort. This article is unsourced, and must be sourced to be acceptable, per WP:V , one of the basic policies. There are several ways to go about it. The best is to try to source it yourself, via google at least; and perhaps the pages here on the various wrestling leagues and championships will be of some help. If you can do so, you've made a positive contribution to wp. if you look and fail to find, then the appropriate thing to do is to add an "unsourced" tg to the article, and either ask the contributor on his talk page if he has any sources, or nominate it for WP:PROD or WP:AFD, giving the reason that you looked and could not find evidence for notability, citing how you searched. If you havent the time for all this, an acceptable way is just to put on the "unsourced" tag -- someone will get around to checking it later.

You may if you choose nominate it without any checking at all for Prod or AfD saying just unsourced, but you run the risk of looking a little foolish if obvious sourcrs are immediately found. I did that once or twice when I first came here, and learned from the reaction to always check first. DGG (talk) 00:20, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Huge squad list

[edit]

Looks legit to me. I've updated the Manchester United F.C. squad list accordingly. By the way, a template to discourage the casual editor from what? – PeeJay 20:41, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There was a proposal a while back to combine the squad templates from club articles and navboxes, but it never really took off. To be honest, I'm quite happy with things the way they are now, but if you want to try and find a new consensus, go ahead. – PeeJay 21:29, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
LOL, me too :D Anyway, I've added Silvestre's transfer to the list of transfers in the 2008-09 season article, but I haven't removed him from the Squad statistics section as he left after the first games of the season and he had been given a squad number. The same situation happened with Heinze and Solskjaer last season, so I thought the same should apply to Silvestre. – PeeJay 21:36, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
