AIV
I saw that you closed the AIV report for User:Mattbroon. I don't have a problem with it as such but I thought that your edit summary was a bit strange: "3h since last edit, edits appear good faith". No questions about the 3h since last edit part, but could you seriously argue that these edits were in good faith: [1] and [2]? Prodding a prominent British politician Neil Kinnock for deletion with the reason given as "It appears to be a commercial exercise and has no part to play in an Encyclopedia" and then manually forging the time stamp on the prod to make it appear that the prod has expired. That is pretty far away from good faith, isn't it? Nsk92 (talk) 19:43, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

- A couple of things, forum shopping is generally considered bad, things like this belong on WP:AN/3RR, not on an admins talk page soliciting assistance. Further, WP:3RR is explicit in enforcement:

Dead link used as citation
I don't think that posting a dead link (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,265374,00.htm) as a source does much to 'prove' a point. Are you arguing that Crystal Gail Mangum was not a prostitute? Duke53 | Talk 03:42, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- This is a quote from that link: "She was adamant that she never worked as a prostitute, and told police that in only one instance did she have sex with a customer, a man she thought was "nice."" Regarding references for the Spartak! entry, I have added playlist entries to show regular national radio play promotion, evidence of tour posters, and further connections to other artists. The press quote (Diario De Noticias) is from a national newspaper. There are now references to other news sources (other than Blogger). The Portuguese media space is exceedingly small compared to the UK or the USA, and that could account for limited online press articles, although I believe the radio play and live show evidence is very robust proof of an active band. Blogs like A Trompa, Sound + Vision and Planeta Pop are widely read and quoted, and archived... your further comments appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Altlusa (talk • contribs) 12:55, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi C.Fred, would you take a look at eNom "Accreditations and awards" section? Review of Marina V Listing Re-instatement
Fred, I was instructed by editor John, who rendered the "keep" verdict to place a request for reinstatement review at the Marina V listing, and per his instructions, I am doing once again, so please do NOT remove, for the reasons, as follows:
Wikipedia has eliminated THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of unsigned artists whose qualifications equal or surpass Marina V for true notablility. For example, recently Justin Lanning was removed from Wikipedia, yet he had CD's selling throughout retail bricks&mortar chains, a billboard on Sunset Boulevard, far more youtube videos and hits per video, higher sales ranking on Amazon by far, airplay on mainstream radio stations, whereas Marina V only has internet radio airplay. How can you claim Marina V notability exceeds somebody like Justin Lanning? I am not making a case that Justin Lanning be reinstated because I agree with his removal from Wikipedia, he was more notable, not sufficiently notable. I am simply saying that you must be consistent in Wikipedia decisions and Marina V fails notability in virtually every aspect. Let me restate one last time: super low Amazon sales, ultra low youtube hits, no FM radio play, only internet radio play, limited local/college media coverage (that's NOT notable, most unsigned artists obtain niche coverage like her), only coffeehouse performances, no concert halls, no national media coverage. She is no different (and no worse) than the typical relatively anonymous unsigned artist, most of whom will be throwing in the towel by age 30, but Wikipedia has removed so many unsigned artists who are at her level or better, so it begs the question whether or not she has a special relationship with a wiki editor who is somehow keeping her listed even while so many others are removed? I argue for Wiki consistency and your decision undermines that consistency entirely. Your decision would require reinstatement of HUNDREDS of unsigned music artists who were deleted over the past few years and it makes NO sense at all, since to reiterate one last time, listing of unsigned artists with primarily only an internet presence VIOLATES all Wiki notability requirements. Thank you for your kind attention, Fred.
!MusicBizLady
Fred, my sweet, I've never done this before, so not really sure what to do and I do NOT want to mess up that page and get you angry with me. Please either open it up yourself and copy/paste my comments or instruct me more in detail what to do . My main concern is that I do NOT want to disrupt the page in question. Thanks.
!MusicBizLady
Fred, my love, I realize that there are grey areas in terms of notability but I guess my argument is based primarly upon the concept of CONSISTENCY. You cannot have Wikipedia eliminate one kind of unsigned artist in favor of another kind, when both lack the kind of notability that transcends an internet presence. Marina V has not even managed to make an appearance on a local TALK TV show, from what I can gather. Just how notable can that be? The fact that her only notable articles appear in CHICAGO journals is not impressive because most unsigned artists can obtain (at least) coverage from their hometowns, that is typical in unsigned artist circles. So eliminate the CHICAGO media, and her coverage is truly limited. Again, it all comes down to this: reinstate somebody like Marina V and open Wikipedia up to all kinds of appeals from delisted unsigned artists who are no less notable than her.
!MusicBizLady
One last point, Fred, my dear. I urge all Wiki editors to re-read the decisions rendered with respect to other unsigned music artist deletions. In most cases, it came down to only five major empirical criteria: Amazon sales rank (Marina V fails), YouTube activity (Marina V fails), National Media coverage (Marina V fails), FM radio play (Marina V fails), MySpace fans (Marina V passes (but she apparently first registered on MySpace in 2004 long before MySpace instituted passwords designed to thwart for-hire computer BOT programs which randomly and speedily amassed thousands of fans for unsigned artists). Personally, I have no issue with maintaining her listing forever, she seems to be a sweet girl, but from the perspective of protecting Wikipedia's integrity, I honestly believe you open up a can of worms with HUNDREDS, if not THOUSANDS, of other unsigned artists (who have been deleted previously) if you allow less than notables to remain listed. Thanks Fred.
!MusicBizLady
OK, Fred, dear, I think I figured out to to do that Deletion Review thingie, hope I did it right?????

Dominic Huey deletion re: Landfall
You asked what was Landfall and its relevance to notability, Landfall is New Zealand's foremost and longest-running arts and literary journal. It showcases new fiction and poetry, as well as biographical and critical essays, and cultural commentary. http://www.otago.ac.nz/press/landfall/index.html. Inclusion in this journal does have relevance and is part of legitimate notability for a performance poet. i had not even finished referencing this beefore it was deleted.. Zachary Jaydon
There seems to be confusion as to the relation between Jaydon D. Paull & Zachary Jaydon. They are one in the same. A large percentage of performers/artists don't go by their legal name. Any notability no matter which of the two names they are credited under are still assertions of nobility under either or both. Many people are eliminating anything that can be user uploaded or changed. I agree with the principle of this in general, however, videos, magazine scans and the such are irrefutable proof of events or facts no matter where they came from. If there is a video of Mr. Jaydon playing with a National Rock Band, you can't say that because it was put up by a "user" that the fact doesn't remain.
While every sentence of this Wiki Article isn't strongly sourced, it doesn't mean he doesn't meat notability requirements for an article. I have scanned and uploaded quite a few of my sources at: http://zacharyjaydonwiki.blogspot.com/
Also, the following was taken directly from WP:N#MUSIC:
Criteria for composers and lyricists
For composers, songwriters, librettists or lyricists:
1. Has credit for writing or co-writing either lyrics or music for a notable composition.
Jaydon has written material on several Multi-Platinum records, including *NSYNC, Craig David, Ryan Cabrera and others. These WERE songs that were included on these albums. They weren't scrapped, or obscure B-Sides. These were songs included on official releases by MAJOR artists. He obviously has notable talent if these artists are choosing to work with him. This is obviously an arguable issue, but given the success of the albums his work has been featured on, it seems at the VERY least, notable. These credits are easily verifiable here:
The 3 above sources are all from www.ASCAP.com which is one of the most trusted sources used on Wiki for Songwriter Credit Verification.
([6]) also shows from a VERY large, Fortune 500 companies website with information on Close To Home and confirming Mr. Jaydon's Songwriting Credits. This website would be considered reliable on any front, and also independent of the subject himself.

cherokee ancestry
how is sourced content a music article?
re: tori amos & cherokee ancestry
this is a woman who, from 1991-2008, has changed her ancestral story so many times. it is traceable, that, with the growth of the internet and the ability to verify truths, her bloodline went from half-to-a quarter- to now, a great-great-great grandmother. she is not of cherokee ancestry. she appropriates this culture for its otherness, to make her connection to America as an idea more cemented. she debases the culture and traditions, characterizes the people as one with the land, refuses the people a real identity.
this would be acceptable, were it not, on the one hand, for the american people's refusal to acknowledge what they have done to the aboriginal.
what she has done, and what wikipedia will allow to continue, is the appropriation and mitigation of the native american culture and tradition and bloodline.
there is no evidence, except for what she states. the story has changed repeatedly since the early 1990s; it has changed with the growth of the internet as being able to research verifiably into someone's past.
moreover, it is the way in which she alleges her cherokee blood; she uses the sufferings of the native american to compare with her 'sufferings' and 'oppression' as a white woman.
it is insensitive. it is racist. it is unsettling that this is allowed to continue.
there is nothing legitimate about the sources stated to back up the claim. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chess queen101 (talk • contribs) 23:47, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

I did, infact, say that it could be source for coulrophobia in some people and that it is told on some web-sites. Like I said, I could of just misunderstood.--C.R.Stinnett (talk) 04:19, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Not at all. My central air at home went out...and I live in the desert. Been staying with my folks the last couple of days. It is a whopping 118 degrees here in Palm Springs. Or, if you will, 48C. At least it's a dry heat, as we're fond of quipping out here. That and the compressor is under warranty. Unfortunately, the labor is not. Taking a serious chunk out of the pocketbook. So, now ya know. :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:46, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. Went in today and it was up over 100 inside according to the two-digit digital thermometer on the thermostat. It read "00" and later "01." The tech is cutting me a break on the labor cost and working with me on paying him for it. The doggoned compressor would have been north of $1600 if I had to buy it. Big ouch. :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:53, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the assist
Thanks for reverting the un-archive of Talk:Ford FE engine, and for handling the spurious vandalism report. The IP editor you reverted (and whose AIV report you cancelled) has been a real problem-child type for quite awhile. I and others have put considerable time and effort into explaining how we do things on Wikipedia to him/her, with many links to the relevant policies, protocols, essays, etc., all to no avail. S/he seems bound and determined to feel persecuted and make trouble. I wish there were an effective way to proactively limit the damage and mayhem people like this cause, particularly where it is reasonably apparent that the editor is avoiding registering in order to circumvent enforcement of the rules. Oh well...I guess all we can do in response to persistent mess-makers is to keep on moppin' up their messes! Thanks again. —Scheinwerfermann (talk) 00:55, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Question
This is User:Tm93. I had recently tagged Shaka Laka Boom Boom (Indian Drama serial) for deltion. I know that I forgot to put a reason, but User:Umerfhussain (the creator) removed the tag himself. I'm not an admin, but you are; therefore I'm asking for your counsel. Only admins are allowed to remove the tag. It no longer is too much of problem now that RHaworth has nominated it, for the reason I meant to write, but that's not my point. I just wish that User:Umerfhussain be notified that only admins are allowed to remove tags. He removed it himself and he is the creator. Click here to see the history for the page. He/she might create another article that does need to be deleted, it gets tagged, he/she removes the tag, no article is deleted. I love to see wikipedia grow, I just think that it should be done by the rules.
- P.S. I'm really not trying to be rude, but User:Umerfhussain needs to be notified.

Hello. I have noticed an IP with a dubious history adding false info into numerous pages. A hard one to catch since occasionally the edits seem valid. But those are rare. See User:70.138.106.139. Thanks for Help with Gabriel Murphy Article
Hello C.Fred- thanks for the help with the Gabriel Murphy article. I would like to suggest that you remove the protection status from Gabriel Murphy and allow me the opportunity to expand on the article, this will also allow those who want to have input on the current Deletion Review to be able to see the article so they can render an informed opinion. Lastly, putting the reidrect aside, I would hope you would agree that the article does establish notability on its own and does not need to have a redirect to the aplus article. THanks for your time and consideration. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LakeBoater (talk • contribs) 18:41, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello C.Fred- thanks much for your comments and direction on the Gabriel Murphy article including your suggestions on re-writing the article. I have taken a considerable amount of time to make sure everything I possibly can is cited by independent sources. I now have 42 total references and I think over a dozen different sources. I would like to take you up on your invitation to review the article before opening a deletion review. If you can review it and leave me a message with your thoughts as to whether you feel it is solid and therefore we can go ahead and open a deletion review (I will take you up on your offer to open a deletion discussion). Permissions for image?
Greetings! I saw that you uploaded Image:KinniRamp.JPG, noting that it's under the Creative Commons license and authored by the AZ Fish and Wildlife department. How did you get this image from them, and how can we see that they have released the image under CC? —C.Fred (talk) 17:05, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
C.Fred, Thank you for your note. I am a contractor with AZGFD and have been requested to add the images to the wiki pages and create the pages if they aren't already there. We were all confounded as to how to CC the images, so any and all help you can provide would be great, we can then go back and fix if needed. Thanks, MJonesAz (talk) 17:20, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- So, in speaking with the AZGFD folks, these images are so granular and small (sized for web use) that they can be placed under a GDFL. Again if there is something else needed to be done to have these images pass, please let me know. MJonesAz (talk) 18:00, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Permission to Proceed
I'm confused. I've been flagged twice in the five minutes I've been on wikipedia trying to create a page. You claim that you don't know Brian Celio. Do you know every author in the world? Furthermore, he DOES have verifiable sources but you haven't gave me the chance to post them. Also, I AM a neutral source. I was contracted to interview the author and create the page. I did not know the author beforehand. Lastly, he is a published author and deserves to be on here just as much as any other author. I'm not sure who gave you the authority to make such rash and arbitrary decisions but I can promise that wikipedia will be contacted by lawyers for unfair discrimination and unwarranted deletions by its supervisors if I'm not given the chance to create a page for him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Exilepublishing (talk • contribs) 04:14, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Garrett Moore inquiry
Hello! In regard to your inquiry on my Talk Page: "What do you see as the assertion of notability in the Garrett Moore article? Even though I pulled the speedy tag at first, I'm no longer convinced there is an assertion of significance or importance." To answer the question: I don't understand your question. I am the lad who put the article up for Speedy Delete (which you denied) and then put it up for AfD (which you speedy deleted). I saw absolutely no assertion of notability, which is why I was trying to get the article erased. Not to be a braggart, but I think my initial call was correct. Thanks! I normally edit as various dynamic IPs, and have been not been involved in the Bardcom situation to date but I have seen it unfold. As the requests for arbitration page is semi-protected and cannot be edited by IP editors I realised an account may be needed if the removal of British Isles when sourced and correct continues. You are welcome to check the edits and sources for yourself. I hope you will be displaying your vim and vigour at Bardcom's page too at him saying this edit was vandalism. Check on Google Books, I did and both books say British Isles. EmpireForever (talk) 01:00, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

There have also been a number of anon IP editors blocked in the past for ad hominen attacks on me. This user admits to using anon IP accounts, and this comment here is grossly insulting. Survivor: Fiji Fanfic
The article was created to archive a fanfiction story written by a user named Guatemalafanfic at Survivor Sucks. A few other of his stories have been archived and I figured I would create one also. Note that it has absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of the actual season of Survivor.
Your message: Greetings! It looks the article you created at Survivor: Fiji Fanfic is a close duplicate of the content at Survivor: Fiji. You seem to monitor and take care of a lot of the same mouseketeer articles that I do. I'm getting frustrated by the mess over at Ashley Tisdale, with this long-running edit war, and am trying to sort out the players. It's pretty clear that the 190.*.*.* edits are all one editor. He is a sock for somebody, and the candidates are Voices4ever and Triping.
On the other side, I'm clearly an editor (at least I'm clear to me, YMMV), and Gimmetrow seems to probably be an individual editor. Over at Be Good to Me, 86.135.133.84 gets into the act of reverting the unsourced additions, and is supported pretty strongly by Neon White and Peyton Waldorf., but I suspect that 86.135.133.84 is a sock for somebody. At Ashley Tisdale discography, 86.141.12.33 pops up to try to get the unsourced information out, and he is probably the same as 86.135.133.84. What's your opinion? Sooner or later, we need to start blocking people for 3RR violations, and I would like a second opinion on who is a sock of who, if anyone is socking. I've never seen something go on this long without socks showing up, but maybe I'm just old and suspicious.

Liferay
I found last year discussion about Liferay page removal (due to word-to-word copy from their public website)... in your comment you compare it with Windows Vista. My opinion: "Encyclopedic content" should have some meaning, and Wikipedia should OR should not publish article on Opteron 2350 etc... We need to define stricter rules. Liferay is open-source product, and Windows Vista is copyrighted. Just as a sample of common sense, article on Potato (another product) is really useful. Funtick (talk) 21:27, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Blasphemy Against The Holy Spirit page
- Yes, the blasphemy against the holy spirit is the one sin in the entire Bible which is unforgivable. Because no one has ever explained what the sin is and how it is committed the sin-blaspheming against the holy spirit-has been called by the nature of the penalty when assigned by God-unforgivable. So, "eternal sin" is a synonym for "unforgivable sin". Additionally, the sin is also referred to in terms of its consequences as the "unpardonable sin". However, because my article will actually describe the sinful act and explain the actions that constitute the sin, as well as explain why people commit it instead of attempting to explain the sin in terms of its consequences it is much more meaningful if the page is named after the name of the sin, "Blasphemy Against The Holy Spirit".
- As of present, all articles (e.g. those on Wikipedia, and those external to Wikipedia) about the unforgivable sin represent each author deducing each of the different possible explanations as to what the sin is, what causes it, what kind of sinful solitary act can a human being that results in them being-from that point in time forward-eternally unforgivable to God. But, however, up to present-2008-all, or almost all of the multiple possible alternative explanations of the unforgivable sin have been incorrect. Thanks to the grace of God, and to God alone, He, for whatever reason, allowed others and myself to obtain conclusive proof of what the sin is, what results from it, and what the rewards and punishments of the unforgivable sinners whom commit it are.
- I evidence information which sets the record straight by demonstrating how all those explanation theorized to date are not possibly the correct explanation of the unforgivable sin. Likewise, I explain the reasons why the true explanation of blaspheming against the Holy Spirit that I disclose, and, which I demonstrate to have already been evidenced on at least two different ocasions by a solitary and very reputable 3rd party source's publications and which conclusively disproves the other alternate explanations for the unforgivable sin.
- If not, let me know. My explanation of what the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is is based upon information I viewed within the following books, "The Church Of Satan: A History Of The World's Most Notorious Religion" by Blanche Barton, 1990; "An Exorcist Tells His Story" by Fr. Gabriele Amorth, 1990; "An Exorcist More Stories" by Fr. Gabriele Amorth, 1992; and "The New American Bible", 1992. Additionally, my explanation includes objective facts and conclusions all of which are conclusively deduced and can be logically proven. C.Fred Is there anything else that I need to do before I can create an article entitled, "Blasphemy Against The Holy Spirit" given that I've provided some of my very reputable, third-party references? Please advise me ASAP. Thanks.Llooke11 (talk) 19:52, 21 July 2008 (UTC).

Why did you delete my article?
Hi. You speedily-deleted my article on Syed B. Ali, citing non-notability. However, he's the president/CEO of Cavium. Googling it will give you nearly a quarter-million hits. And if it's notable, why not its founder/president/CEO?.Dostyar (talk) 22:56, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- I looked at WP:BIO as you suggested. You're right in that being the head of a company doesn't make you automatically notable. However, this person founded a company with a current market capitalization of over half a billion dollars ($683 million today, according to Google Finance). That should qualify as unusual enough to deserve attention. He is mentioned occasionally in the news. Here's Google News for the month[11]. He has also won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Technology[12] more than once. True, no one seems to have (yet) written a book about the guy. However, there do seem to be a large number of primary sources (Google Syed Ali Cavium, excluding results from cavium.com). Wouldn't you say all these, when put together, was evidence of notability?Dostyar (talk) 00:17, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

A vandal
Hi, you removed a vandal from AIV because their last block was 3 weeks ago [13], but their last block was for 2 weeks. They have been blocked 3 times since March, and have even erased their talk page before. This person is obviously a long term vandal. NJGW (talk) 04:13, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Independent Sources and Windows Vista
Thanks for your prompt reply on my talk page! I don't know where to publish this and can I add thread here... but some more thoughts...
As a sample, Windows Vista and "indepent reliable sources about it--articles in PC magazines, general tech magazines, Wired, etc."
- Indeed, all those sources are dependent on outdated and dead Windows 3.10, Windows. 3.11, Windows 95, etc. Windows Vista is just a product with own Time-to-Live... nothing is new with Windows. It's copyrighted and protected by thousands patents technology, and it is based on head and shoulders of giants such as George Boole and many others who never tried to limit their findings to special group of people (who pay money).
I provided sample with Potato - this is the best sample on what should be published here. We don't need articles on separate page about Intel 8080, but perhaps it could be listed in an article on CPU... Funtick (talk) 22:31, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Vandal-fighter concern
I'm a little worried about this user, who seems to frequently report "vandals" who aren't vandals at all. I'm not worried about one or two borderline reports, but this comes up over and over. You can see he warned that IP four times for edits that were clearly not vandalism. Do me a favor - keep an eye on this with me, would ya? I appreciate the efforts of vandal-fighters, but we can't have overzealous ones running people out of town for no reason. Tan ǀ 39 17:12, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

You stated "Technically, the article failed A7, since it's about a fictional character, and works of fiction are not subject to speedy deletion under that criterion. —C.Fred (talk) 02:04, 30 July 2008 (UTC)"
Does this mean I can have the article restored to Wiki? I didn't get a chance to add any more to it before it got deleted. How can I get it put back up?
If it cannot be "undeleted" can I repost the article as best as I can reconstruct it?
Also, how do I add images?
Thanks! :D Witaku (talk) 22:19, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Hello again.
Thanks for restoring the article. I admit, I read the guidelines for notabilty but I am not sure what to add to this one to "prove" it notable. Any ideas? (I'm totally new to this, so please bear with me.) What kind of things would I want to add?
Also - how do I get images put up on here showing the character's likeness, etc?
Thanks again. :D Witaku (talk) 22:34, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Removing CSD tags
Saw your note at AIV. My two cents ... if it's from an article that the user created, I'm willing to spot them one time out of ignorance. Repetitions are clearly vandalism, and are an extremely frustrating form of vandalism at that, because they cause edit-wars.

Death
According to the Quran, the death of Sulayman was a lesson to be learned,
Then, when We decreed (Sulayman's) death, nothing showed them his death except a little worm of the earth, which kept (slowly) gnawing away at his staff: so when he fell down, the Jinns saw plainly that if they had known the unseen, they would not have tarried in the humiliating Penalty (of their Task). Quran 34:14
When Sulayman was to die, he was standing watching the work of his (Jinn) slaves while reclining on his cane. There he silently passed away, but did not fall. He remained in this position, for forty days and the Jinns thought that he was still alive watching them work, and so they kept working an extra 40 days. But the termites were eating at the cane all these days so that the body of Sulayman fell after forty days. It was thereafter that the Jinn (along with all humans) fell in their hands that they did not know more than God had allotted them to know. --Thew Morte (talk) 02:47, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
The Alliance of Women Film Journalists
Hello Fred. I've been notified by someone who attempted to add information about the Alliance of Women Film Journalists that the entry was deleted by you, and I'm writing to you about that. I understand that the entry about the Alliance of Women Film Journalists, or AWFJ.org, was deleted because it included no substantive material to prove importance or relevance. I see from your profile that you are interested primarily in things having to do with highways. The AWFJ is an organization that deals with the subject of film and, more particularly, women and film. That is obviously a very different sort of subject matter, and it's quite understandable that you might not be familiar with the work AWFJ does, nor with the organizations importance, nor of the level to which it is recognized in the film industry, among media covering film, and by the general moviegoing public. So, to fill you in, I'd like to suggest that you Google the Alliance of Women Film Journalists. You will find 226,000 pages (at least that's the number that's currently on the screen) referring to the Alliance of Women Film Journalists from sources as diverse as Movie City News, the Hollywood Reporter, Variety, USA Today, Salon.com, Cinematical.com, About.com, indiewire.com and hundreds more--all highly regarded, highly credible sources. Some of these--USA Today, among them--are geneneral interest news pubication, and you will immediately recognize their importance, I'm sure. Others, such as indiewire.com and cinematical, are more focused on the entertainment industry, so you may not immediately recognize their credibility and influence--since this is not your field of expertise. But a very brief bit of research will go a long way in proving to you and whichever other decision-makers at Wikipedia are ruling on the inclusion of the Alliance of Women Film Journalists on your pages--that they are, indeed, valid beyond question as credible sources that refer, and frequently so, to the Alliance of Women Film Journalists. Additionally, a visit to the Alliance of Women Film Journalists' website at www.awfj.org will immediately indicate the scope and credibility of the organization, a nonprofit (this is not a buisiness that is trying to promote itself and its site for monetary gain) charitible nationwide association of the leading women film journalists in America. Neither the organization nor its members are fly-by-might. In fact, www.awfj.org is the go to source for women's perspectives on film and the film industry. That said, I'd suggest that while the person who submitted the Alliance of Women Film Journalists is probably aware of the attention the Alliance of Women Film Journalists has received from the film industry, other media and the general public, he may not have been familiar with the necessity for citing referrences to AWFJ nor, for that matter, of how to do so. Would you be kind enough to inform him of how to do this, or inform me and I will pass the information along to him. Thanks for your consideration and best regards, Jennifer Merin awfjinc@gmail.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jennifermerin (talk • contribs) 19:37, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

I added a page for a real person named Ann Angel but it was deleted before I had a chance to explain why she should be here.
I know she's not as popular as Jenna Jameson or Jesse Capelli but Anna still has a very loyal fan following and in my opinion deserves to be here at Wikipedia. I was also going to add a profile photo but since I'm a new member it wouldn't allow me.

- Hi again, I wanted to ask you a question if you don't mind. I am still a pretty new editor, and I'm still learning a lot of things. I have been doing some recent changes patrol, and reporting a few vandals to AIV. I am usually pretty good about knowing when to report, and when not to. I think that IP last night (203.45.16.13) is the first not receive a block. So my question is when I find someone vandalizing and they have previous warnings how recent do they have to be? Like today being the 4th, say they received up to a level 2 on the second of this month, do I fall in with a level 3 or do I start the process all over again? Have a good day, Landon1980 (talk) 13:25, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, that helps. I just don't like wasting others time by reporting IP's that require no action to AIV. I know next to nothing about IP's and how they work. Take myself for an example, I have had the same IP for a year now. I have cable internet through Time Wariner, so I don't know when or if they change your IP. As long as I've been checking mine its been the same. Before I started patrolling the recent changes I read over all the warning templates, like when to use them and what not, and the blocking policy. All it said was "recent" warnings, just wasn't sure what was considered recent when dealing with an IP. One more thing if you don't care. I see quite a lot of fellow editors start out with a level 2, or skip one or two levels sometimes (most of the time dealing with very blatant vandalism) Is that ok to do? I know in extreme cases it warrants a level4im, but I'm talking about things like replacing page content with "OMG Jim Carry is so hilarious" and things like that. Landon1980 (talk) 17:23, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- It's me again, sorry to bother you once again. You should have never said I could ask you for help :). I monitor the new pages sometimes, and I see a lot of stuff that doesn't belong here for various reasons. The thing is I don't know how to tag them properly. For instance, the article Houseway was deleted a yesterday, and User:Ntinis has already recreated the article. What am I supposed to do? If you don't have time to help me I completely understand. Have a good day, Landon1980 (talk) 03:41, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Non-action on 98.180.215.216
Regarding the lack of a final warning on User:98.180.215.216: this is the same editor as User:98.180.215.212 and User:98.180.215.33 (in addition to several school-year 70.178.* and 130.184.* addresses) who continue to undo redirects against consensus and who's stated on multiple talk pages his/her plan to continue to vandalize. At least one or two of this user's other IPs have worked themselves up to a one-month block for this editor's vandalism on Planet Express and redirects to List of characters in the Firefly universe. In other words, this editor has received multiple "final notices." --EEMIV (talk) 23:38, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
- Between one of those two 98.* addresses, I saw his intent to keep disrupting. The latest IP also just got a one-month block. It may also be time to protect the redirects. —C.Fred (talk) 00:25, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you. Assuming this nitwit is still in college, activity from the Wichita IPs won't resume (much) beyond the blocks, but'll kick up again from some Arkansas IPs when classes again resume. I halfway think there might be a registered used behind it: User:130.184.82.235 was the earliest IP to start this up, and the editor pretty early jumped into the Village Pump to whine about trivia policies. Or, could just be a long-time non-editing-reader who decided to make his first round of edits vandalism. Eh. I dunno. --EEMIV (talk) 03:54, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from [[{{{1}}}]], which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! I have removed the deletion notice, so that a reasonable alternative can be met. The Wikipedia page Wikipedia:Alternative outlets states "Just because the content does not belong here does not mean it does not have value, and it is worth preserving valuable free content if we can" This content can be certainly preserved and is certainly of value.
Your Obvious contention with the page is that it falls under the wikipedia policy on original research In that it appears to be an Original invention. and that "it is not notable enough to be Wikipedia article material until multiple, independent, and reliable secondary sources report on it." I am not contesting your right to question my article but am trying to foster WikiLove and save an article that may turn into something more then an "Original Invention" very soon.

Comayagua99:

They share a striking 600 combined edits in total. Comayagua99 made 581 edits in the same articles as Miamiboyzinhere. That is one-quarter of all Comayagua99's edits. It's really rare to see such high percentage of similarity for 2 separate accounts. They also have very close normal edit time. As for the IP's vandalism spree, sometimes they employ such strategies to trick people into believing that they're separate. Hi,
Regards your edit summary here, is AN/I the place to go? I ask not because I doubt your comment, but because I just don't know. It's quite rare that I'll post on AN or AN/I - generally AIV is sufficient to my needs. I posted a comment here but to no response so far. It's the best summary to date of what I'm thinking, but it's missing how damned frustrated I am.

Hello, C Fred.

- Secondary to this user (Bristol Palin), who is a sock of Cipspic (talk · contribs), this guy has been vandalizing the Applebee's (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) article for several days now. Each time he is blocked, he creates a new account and renews the vandalism. Your temp-semi block on Applebee's will do nothing to stop him. Would you please upgrade the protection to temp-full?

Hello,
The User is unrelated to the family but has used a family name. I can confirm that no member of the family was involved in the creation of this article. The use of specific identifiers is unacceptable, therefore deleted. We would prefer deletion of the User name and entire article.

Help
Pinkadelica has been helpful in trying to resolve the issue of me being blocked. SchuminWeb blocked me for improper user name. I created a new user name although I was editing under the name of ISUPK and after reading guidelines, I had no idea that it was not allowed.
1) What is causing a conflict of interest? >I changed my user name.
2) Unless I am not understanding what objective and promotion means, can you be clearer? >What I posted was objective, it was what the organization does and who we are. I do not understand how posting information about the Israelite School of Universal Practical Knowledge is promotion. There are no sentences asking for money or how to contact the organization. I am familiar with the organization because I am the Non-profit's Executive Director.
I have contacted SchuminWeb and he never contacted me back besides blocking me. I would like to know what can be done to resolve the issue.
Thank you,

Schumin Web Editing
Schumin Web placed on the page the following:
"Israelite School of Universal Practical Knowledge (ISUPK) is a non-profit organization based in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. The group is part of the Hebrew Israelism movement which regards American Blacks as the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel."
Neither Southern Poverty Law Center article states the above.
"History of Hebrew Israelism". Southern Poverty Law Center. Retrieved on 2008-09-08.
>States," Although followers of Black Judaism thought of themselves as the descendants of the biblical 12 tribes of Israel"
I understand that any one can add information to any page however can it be correctly, directly quoted from the source that is it gathered from?
Star5279 (talk) 16:13, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
I appreciate your feeback/help!!! Thank YOU
First, thank you for explaining to me, clearly that me opening an account with the user name, "ISUPK" is indeed against the user name guidelines. > No, problem. I truly was acting in good faith to create a new account with a different user name. > I will check your notes to see how I can add to the article. > I have no problem with any one adding information, I just expect it to be directly quoted from the source. I also do not mind more scrutiny than usual; it's welcomed, all I ask is that the page hold facts, with true quotes and resources...
Again, Thank you

YOUR ARE GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
C.Fred,
Again, THANK YOU! I can not begin to explain how much insight you have given me in where I went wrong in compiling a page on Wikipedia. You are very helpful and clear. I appreciate your patience and understanding but most of all, your customer service & kind demeanor.
I have no problem uploading all the articles that has been done on the organization. That can be a subheading or heading, no problem! I do understand that the editor was acting in good faith by acknowledging all the negative press we've received; no problem. As an editor myself, I would at least wanted our location to be correct and the number of tribes to be correct because it is not 10 but instead 12. No article he has as a source says 10; I re-visited and researched them all. Because those articles have been written about the organization, the sources indeed are legitimate.
That said, am I, under the new user name allowed to edit the article?
>If so, you have given me guidelines as to what I can place on the page and I have no problem following the rules:
1) I am allowed to post a summary of the organization
2) Goals
3) Major programs >I have no problem re-phrasing the words so that they are not from our website. >Keeping it a solid prose summary, about 2-3 times as long as the current text.
4) I will put back the actual website as a primary source without a problem.
5) I will not mention any awards for our website will give that information.
6) I will put the noise complaints and other negative issues/articles about our organization in a "Criticisms" section at the bottom of the article.
Can I add pictures? I had 2 of up there and they were emailed to me from the magazine. I also cited them as a source from the magazine.
Again, I have no problem melding/merging the content together. I am glad that you understand that the article can exclude any description of the organization just because it's sourced from the ISUPK website.
I can do the editing once I am no longer blocked or send you the information? Which works best?

Please reconsider your comment on WP:AIV. He's been blocked twice already, we don't have to keep giving warnings to people who have already been blocked for vandalism. Corvus cornixtalk 03:02, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Noticed this, and have to side with CC on this one. The editor has repetitively vandalized the same article, and been blocked for it twice. He's now been given an indefinite block, which is quite appropriate. There's no reason to repeat warning cycles ... if an editor repeats an edit that he has been blocked for, he can and should be blocked again without the need for further warnings.Kww (talk) 03:18, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Fantasy userpages
Killing two birds with one stone. First, a user you blocked, Alis.Payan (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) has resurfaced as Alicia.Payan (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). She hasn't been abusively socking, but she is obviously headed for trouble, as not a single one of her contributions has been kept. If you stumble across her again, you probably want to keep the original block in mind. Second, take a look at User:Alicia.Payan. I've been seeing more and more of these, where kids have produced elaborate userpages intended to mimic articles about themselves, portraying themselves as stars of movies, TV shows, etc. Does this violate anything? I keep looking at them and thinking this is wrong, but I can't bring myself to report them anywhere, because they seem more stupid than harmful.Kww (talk) 22:48, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

When she started using five or six sockpuppets at once to claim that she isn't a sockpuppet, that was a problem. When I noticed in several of her talk pages that she has autism, I understood. I've worked with autistic people before. Sometimes they get stuck in a loop of sorts, and aren't able to break out of repetitive and inappropriate behaviors. I therefore decided to help her break the loop by shutting her down completely. I've protected all the talk pages she was using indefinitely (except the ip, since we don't block/protect those indefinitely). I hope you don't think I've gone too far here, but I don't think we're doing her any favors by allowing her to keep spending hours writing nonsense on her talk pages for days and days on end. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 19:49, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Talk page vandalism at Talk:Cladistics?
Hello C.Fred. I would semi-protect this Talk page if another admin would support that. As you know we have a very enthusiastic IP who is on a permanent war for the truth. The IP is presumably User:Consist. I notice that all his Talk edits are being routinely reverted, which suggests they may be considered vandalism. There have not been any good-faith IP editors contributing to the page for a year or more. I'd suggest semi-protecting the article as well. EdJohnston (talk) 00:27, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'm reluctant to semi-protect a talk page, especially if the article is (likely to be) semi-protected, since it blocks an avenue for constructive contribution. That said, there is an issue with User:Consist and Cladistics, yes. So long as he's editing from one IP, a long block on the IP is probably the way to go. If he starts IP hopping, then yes, I would endorse semi-protection of the article and, if necessary, the talk page. —C.Fred (talk) 01:49, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. But checking the history of Talk:Cladistics, he's already used five different IPs since 1 September. No IP address is ever re-used after he switches. Wouldn't that fit the definition of IP-hopping? :-) EdJohnston (talk) 02:13, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Wolfpack F.C.
Wolfpack Football Club is a very well-known soccer team in this area. The entry was created so supporters could have a common website to find updated information on the club. Also, if any news breaks on the club, fans can update the information on their own, which will spread the news quicker, rather then waiting to hear it by word of mouth. This is exactly what Wikipedia was created for, and by deleting the page I feel you are simply taking away from the purpose of the website. There was no offending information on the page, and it had already gained a large following in the community. Deleting the page did absolutely nothing to benefit Wikipedia and all it accomplished was upsetting many people who were looking for a common page to find updated information on Wolfpack F.C. The page was really helping the club grow and gain an even larger following. I am asking that the page please be put back up. Jmcnutt28 (talk) 03:37, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

I now understand but I think that the rules should be the same for EVERYONE in the wikipedia community. There are MANY topics that I have looked at and the references and links are directly or indirectly to companies and it is advertisement so I recommend either allowing a site or disallowing all sites that "advertise". A tag has been placed on Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Sorry for the template. Bearian (talk) 17:10, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Regarding Chris Heimerdigner Page
Independent sourcing exists for info, not just self-publishing, though I'm not quite sure what that means. But such info may not exist ON THE INTERNET. This highlights the inherent problem of Wikipedia itself. The apparent laziness of editors in doing the necessary legwork to source ANYTHING if it does not exist in an online form. For example, evidence that "Passage to Zarahemla" is a self-published work is in the opening page of the book. Are you willing to obtain a copy to verify this? Other non-online sources also verify this. But I do not mean to point the finger at you. Many Wikipeida editors are inclined toward this same lack of desire to use non-internet sources to confirm facts. In no other resource book or article except those on Wikipedia is the source material apparently required to also be visible online. Please highlight for us any info that you feel is not properly sourced and we (admitted fans of Mr. Heimerdinger) will give you NON-INTERNET sources as verification. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thumper10 (talk • contribs) 18:06, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Pedrovip's images
You may have noticed my question to him over on his talk page. Status today is that none of his images really pan out. I've been told the "Come Back to Me" cover is Australian, but I haven't been able to verify it. The site he downloaded it from shows calls it "propaganda", Portuguese for "advertisement". The Headstrong image looks completely fake. No traces of his "Japanese" cover for Sneakernight, either. I was going to give him a couple more days of ignoring my question before going further. I have a vague and completely unjustifiable suspicion that MSoldi and Pedrovip are the same editor.—Kww(talk) 01:39, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- Conversation is progressing, and probably worth monitoring. I found a few more violations, and he has started to put copyrighted images in userboxes.—Kww(talk) 16:33, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it seems apparent that he isn't going to admit wrongdoing. That's a shame ... I feel a lot better about cases like this when I can get the editor to understand what he did wrong and have him request deletion. Do you think it's obvious enough that you can directly delete the other images, or should I go through IFD on them?—Kww(talk) 02:21, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- IFD it is then: if they were real, they would be acceptable as fair use. The problem is that they are hoaxes. What I don't know for certain is if Pedrovip is constructing the hoax images, or if he just blindly downloads fanart without showing proper judgement.—Kww(talk) 02:50, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:MuBetaPsiCrest.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:MuBetaPsiCrest.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:30, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

- Hi again, I really do need to know which of those 15 or so sentences fits any one of those tags you've applied to the page. Peacock Words, Verification, Advertisement and Notability. If you'll notice the entire article was rewritten and brought down to those dozen+ sentences, with nine supporting references. Sundance Institute award winner, Director of a major motion picture, author published by Ballantine Books, named top 10 LDS writer, etc etc. If you would care to support why you've tagged the article I can begin to address your concerns. As it stands now I have no idea what you've tagged the article for.76.238.22.59 (talk) 01:59, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- I retagged the article because, in response to your concerns when you untagged, Ronz had laid out his concerns on his talk page—and nobody had replied to that. —C.Fred (talk) 02:21, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- Actually they did. Repeatedly. You'll notice that the vast majority of Ronz edits on the talk page are him moving text around, changing other editors post locations, creating and deleting sections AFTER discussion has taken place, etc...

- It's incumbent on you when placing a tag or editing an article to make an informed decision regarding your edits. That is why I've asked you to support your tagging the article as Peacock Words, Verification, Advertisement and Notability. Ronz has actually placed the same tags on a number of related LDS wiki articles. I have no dog in this fight, I don't think I've ever even met a Mormon - I've simply responded to the tags Ronz put there by adding 9 refs and whittling the article down to around 15+ sentences. It's not a great article, but there is no basis at this time for those 4 tags. May I revert your tags? Absent anyone supporting their tags or indicating what exactly they're tagging I believe they have outlived their applicability and should be removed. I only ask that you support or withdraw your edit.76.238.22.59 (talk) 02:36, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- And at this point, there has been discussion on the talk page. So, the last time I looked—after FireandFlames removed tags and added discussion to the talk page—I felt the tags or lack thereof were in agreement with the progress of discussion on the talk page. —C.Fred (talk) 02:58, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

- Hi Fred, I dropped the tags back on as it seems like there is some edit warring going on without anybody (save Ronz it appears) to be discussing on the talk page. I have made some suggestions to the IP on my talk. FWIW, I recommend that the IP make a new section in the talk stating that he is going to remove the tags as it seems that consensus has been achieved in the next few days. It's not going to kill anybody if the tags stay up there for a few more days. Ta Shot info (talk) 03:19, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- I have opened a section on removing the tags on the Heimdinger talk page. I intend to remove them in 36 hours if no one is willing or able to support the tags with specifics.76.238.22.59 (talk) 03:31, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Minimum age to edit Wikipedia?
Hi Fred, is there a minimum age to edit Wikipedia? I thought that I had seen one for having a registered account but now I can't seem to find it. Specifically, a twelve year old editor? Cheers,⋙–Berean–Hunter—► ((⊕)) 19:40, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for checking for me. I tried looking all over the place and was frustrated because I thought that I had seen it before. I encountered this user and it appears that she badgers this one. I didn't realize until after my last warning that I'm addressing a 12 year old which goes a long way in explaining her actions...before she just looked trollish. I have a funny feeling that she will be at ANI before too long for being troublesome although I hope not.⋙–Berean–Hunter—► ((⊕)) 21:25, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

An edit you made roughly two weeks ago
Hi fred, you made an edit to the ICP page "The amazing Jeckel Bros." deleting the section containing the message behind the album. I understand your reasoning behind this, however the message of the album is important enough to where it shold be in the article, so i undid that revision, and made another one so that it is in a format of a lengthy quote (the same format used in research papers, centered and in quotes, with slightly smaller font). Since the article is set up with every thing properly cited, just as it is in a research paper, i fail to see why this would not be acceptable rather than deleting the section, if you have a reason why feel free to go to my talk page and tell me (if i have it set up. otherwise, ill just be sure to check back here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mastermarth (talk • contribs) 22:29, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Ah yes i see what you mean. But the amazing jeckel brotheres is no the only page which uses the albums message in the article. is there a reason why only it required removal? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mastermarth (talk • contribs) 23:58, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

The point is to say it is not in Atlanta. The "city" field should either say "near" (Didn't the editors of the article agree to have "near" in the infobox) in it, at the least. WhisperToMe (talk) 23:19, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

SpamSurgeon/KillAllSpammers
Hi C.Fred, thank you very much for your vigilance on eNom and the timely block. Didn't know you're an admin but since you are ... did you check whether SpamSurgeon is a sockpuppet of KillAllSpammers? If so, I've already got a request for checkuser submitted for SpamSurgeon and, more importantly, for another apparent sockpuppet that's essentially an impersonation of a living person, an innocent bystander misidentified as me. If I understand correctly, using new sockpuppets as a means to avoid blocks is basis for indefinite blocking, is that accurate? Thanks, Thirdbeach (talk) 17:53, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

I don't mean to say that knowing these things isn't important. I just worry about young Pedro's enthusiasm for blocking and rules without a corresponding emphasis on learning how to make good edits. He's gotten much better than when he started, but he skated pretty close to getting an indefinite block on his account, and would certainly have gotten one if he hadn't improved. I think it's important to encourage him to make good edits, and he can focus on trying to enforce rules after he's demonstrated that he can follow them himself.—Kww(talk) 16:48, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

List of television stations in North America by media market
I thought I would bring this to your attention and let you decide how you want to deal with it. After the 24 hour protection was up on List of television stations in North America by media market, Theaveng reverted to Nielsen based changes in violation of the OTRS ticket (#2008091610055854). Emarsee reverted asking in his edit summary that "Theaveng" "stop being so disruptive" and requested continued page protection on WP:RFPP (which, as of this post, hasn't happened).
I will not get in the middle of this and will not template "Theaveng", so as not to escalate the situation, but I thought you should be made aware of what is going on. Take Care and Enjoy Your Weekend...NeutralHomer • Talk • November 22, 2008 @ 08:10 08:10, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

- I tagged User:Cyrusmilleyhannana as a sock of Nimbley6 (and User:Bennet556), and I've just tagged User:United Kingdom & Northern Ireland as a sock of same. Nimbley6 is a long-term troll and socker with a fascination for Scottish topics, images (particularly flags and coats of arms) and sub-headings.
- However, that's not why I'm here! It occurred to me that I've got country articles in my userspace - User:This flag once was red/sandbox2 and User:This flag once was red/sandbox3, and I wondered if it was appropriate? I created the two sandbox pages to test a modification to the Country infobox; I don't particularly need them any more, but was curious about the "legality" of it. So... is it inappropriate to have copies of articles in user space? (I'm just curious - I'll probably delete the two sandbox pages shortly anyway).

Thank You, I will attempt to do so. I'm very new at this, so how will I have this reviewed by appropriate editors?
Nancedw (talk) 03:05, 22 December 2008 (UTC) 12/21/208
I have entered some information on the Amalgam Digital page from my username. I was also wondering how I might refer to magazine articles as there is more information available, but they are in print media, many of the issues are subscription based online and I cannot provide a valid link. Can I scan them and save them somewhere to be referenced. This is the first time I have attempted to create a wiki page, so it's a slow process for me. Thanks! Video Profiling
Hi, I own the copyright for the website www.videoprofiling.co.uk and I have e-mailed Wikipedia re: permitting re-use under the GFDL. Whilst the Video Profiling article does relate back to my website I am trying to explain the concept of Video Profiling in the broader sense of sharing A/V information and how it is used in a variety of professional markets. I then go to explain how www.vidoprofiling.co.uk uses Video Profiling technology as an example. Thank you VideoProfiling (talk) 15:38, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- We have a valid GFDL release on the OTRS at Ticket:2009010310007835, but I haven't undeleted this as you also mentioned G11 (spam) as a reason for deletion. I'll leave it to you as the deleting admin as to what to do. Stifle (talk) 15:56, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- Looks OK to me now. It was the way it led to their link that made me flag it. Apart from the BBC reported item, it's hard to find any other players in the game. (They'll all be at it in six months....) I'm wondering about their site going in as an External Link - now the article has been revised? Leaving it to you - you've far more experience than me. (I flag things and watch to see what happens. Learn quite a lot that way. I don't use any tools, preferring to find the ones they don't (including a copyviol in Greek!) I do copy-eds too, and defend some things slated for deletion.) Peridon (talk) 18:09, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
List of television stations in North America by media market
Thank you! I don't know if my instant reverts were right or not, with the OTRS ticket, I know we can't have Nielsen information. Could I have handled that situation differently? - NeutralHomer • Talk • November 20, 2008 @ 12:44
- Thanks....I will participate in the discussion and will try to stay away from problems like these in the future. One problem I do have. About 10 minutes ago, the little orange bar popped up and I thought I recieved a message from Pedro. This was what I seen. Not the history part, just the diff. Had I seen it from the history point-of-view, I would have know it wasn't actually from Pedro. Pedro had placed the same warning on Theaveng's talk page a couple moments earlier. I am not sure if there is something that can be said about not trying to "impersonate" another user, but it should. I will be more careful before editing to someone (as I sent a message to Pedro before realizing what was going on). - NeutralHomer • Talk • November 20, 2008 @ 13:03

I noticed you reverted the recent edit I made to the Zeta Phi Beta article. I think changing the section header from "Controversies" may help to eliminate some of the constant removal of the section. If it is instead presented as a part of the historical timeline it may be a little easier for the members of Zeta to accept. The alternative is to make it into a triva box, but I think that will minimize the events too much. I welcome your thoughts. -- Absolon S. Kent (talk) 18:21, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Diamond Way and Ole Nydahl pages
The consensus version was agreed upon by all and had been stable for quite some time, but Siru108 keeps replacing the consensus, neutral version with the copied almost directly from the title of the article's official website, thus making it very one-sided and not using third party sources. Hmm....As I was using Huggle, it said that it would speedy delete, as the last contributer was the author. I had not idea that it would do that...my apologies. Next time, I'll just use Twinkle; thanks for the heads up! Cheers. Imperat§ r(Talk) 19:53, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Delta lodge
I have provided a neutral and factually backed addendum to the delta lodge page..... However i find my slef under due arrest. It seems every time i edit i get deleted, i just feel that if your going to provide a nuetral and objective explanation of the subject you should include all facts, as i have and provded sources. I also concur wi the sentiment that the delta lodge subject matter is not notable seing as how they are a defunct organization (not in good standing at the university of north texas... this organization is not mandated by any governing body. The statement that they are a "fraternity in good standing at the university of north texas is fraudulent. They posses no charter/mandate; they hold sparse residence at best, and were relocated by the city due to alarming concerns. To reiterate i fing the delta lodge page to be an apologists rendition with not factual evidence to back it up... it contains claims that are unfound and jingoistic at best. If one is to present subject matter with the confines of an encylopedic medium, one would hope that all facts are heralded not just the self promoting smarmy dialoge of advertisers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DeltaLodgeDown (talk • contribs) 21:54, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Contested page - Can you help?
Hi - I noticed on the wiki page of my notable colleague ( Lofty Wiseman - a globally known authority on Survival ) that a link appeared to a page about our organisation - Trueways Survival. As the page didn't exist I created one to give information on what we do from a purely factual point of view. We are driven and focused on providing free advice for the purpose of saving lives. It appears that you deleted the page as their may be a conflict of interest with myself writing the and being part of the organisation. I therefore ask, to be unbiased and to allow for the inclusion of information on the lifesaving work we do, would you be willing to compose the page if we provide you with any information you may need to do so? If so, please email me at ' lyndon at truewayssurvival dot com'. Thank you for reading.
- I have the user some advice on his talk page. MickMacNee (talk) 20:11, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey, on the Drake And Josh article I noticed you changed the episode count from 64 to 63. Which is correct? By the info on the page it should be 64, but it originally had 63. Can you explain?--D3t3ctiv3 (talk) 03:03, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Amalgam Digital
I posted on your talk page on about the status of Amalgam Digital where you stated I could start a new article under my name and did so User:Nancedw/Amalgam_Digital There is much to be done, I am just making sure this is how the article should be, and I am wondering how to cite sources in print media that is not properly documented online. You deleted my article titled LTC (Lightning the Cape Verdean). The article was about the artists album, just like a writer's book.
The reason that you gave me is listed below:
"An article about a real person, an organization (e.g. band, club, company, etc., except schools), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant. This is distinct from verifiability and reliability of sources, and is a lower standard than notability. A7 applies only to articles about web content and to articles about people and organizations themselves, not to articles about their books, albums, software and so on. A7 does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source. If the claim's credibility is unclear, you can improve the article yourself, propose deletion, or list the article at articles for deletion."
The reason you gave me Proves my point, "A7 applies only to articles about web content and to articles about people and organizations themselves, not to articles about their books, albums, software and so on". Once again the article was about the artists new album. If I need to make changes to the article to make more suitable I will but please reinstate my article? Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Adepina (talk • contribs) 07:20, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
How did you figure BLP applied to the cast list here? Unless a good case is made for its retention, the article would be gone within 5 days anyway, and a cast list is not a good example of potentially damaging information that would require immediate removal. - Mgm|(talk) 22:42, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Hallo. I feel a little silly explaining all changes on this page in the discussion, as the user(s) whom opposed my views have all been blocked permanently now. Nobody will disagree now. However I think the semi-protection is still needed, as the puppeteer is likely to create yet another sockpuppet. Is it ok if I just edit the article, or how should I behave? Siru108 (talk) 18:17, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
Hi Fred, I know that you are busy so there is no great rush with this. Is the use of an Alacrastore link such as this appropriate? I believe it fails WP:ELNO but the user is wanting to add to the notability. I searched for the use of Alacrastore within Wikipedia here and found that the vast majority of these links seem to have been placed by the same user. My talk page has our conversation (see also Talk:MakeMyTrip#Alacrastore). I see both sides of the coin here and looking for further input..your help is greatly appreciated. Cheers,

I have added 24 academic sources to this article to stop this edit warring. Feel free to look them over, and also please watch the page so it does not get vandalized again. GaGa
Def Jam is NOT Lady GaGa's record label(s), she was dropped. So please do not keep adding it on to her labels. Dance-pop (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 22:56, 27 January 2009 (UTC).
That is right but you needed specify she was dropped. That is why you were wrong. You need to specify she was dropped, so not to confuse people. And Streamline is one of her record labels I have given a source and for cherrytree records. So could you please change those.Dance-pop (talk) 03:24, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hey, excuse my intrusion, but I think you should take a look here, specifically here.
"Label
The record label or labels to which the act has been signed, as a comma-separated list. Omit parenthetical dates; save that information for the main article. [...]" - I think you will have no further problems with this assunt if you read it. Sparks Fly 22:54, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

YesOn8
I saw that you 24h blocked User:YesOn8, and I was wondering what your opinion was on username-blocking that account. Seems like this is a reference to California's Proposition 8. Therefore, it seems to be a promotional name related to a political stance (not a group or company, per se). Because of how this proposition, and politics in general, are polarizing, it seems like, while maybe not strictly "offensive", it would fall under "making harmonious editing difficult" or disruptive. (therefore there are 2 independent lines of reasoning related to the spirit of WP:IU) I was real close to simply soft blocking myself, but I also wasn't sure if it was possible to do that with the 24h block instated, and I didn't want to second guess your admin actions in this situation without seeking your council first.-Andrew c [talk] 15:33, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Diamond Way Buddhism (again)
Hi. Can I request you put the semi-protection back on the Diamond Way Buddhism page? The reason is that the person behind the edits keep creating new accounts, at least with a semi, they cannot edit straight away. Possibly also on Ole Nydahl page, as the problem is the same, with the same edits and same user(s). This person has been active like this since August, I do not expect these edits to stop easily. The only reason it is so very limited right now is that I continue to report the Sock Puppets, and they get blocked again and again. 12 accounts so far are blocked as confirmed Sock Puppets, and 2 more reported. Thank you for your help. Siru108 (talk) 18:29, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- Update: 16 confirmed sockpuppets blocked, one IP-user reported. I now that theres not a hell lot of edits right now compared to earlier, but this is mainly because of the blocking it seems. Siru108 (talk) 13:16, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- There is also a continuing WP:COPYLINK problem. It has been discussed several times, but Roy Ward's unregistered accounts replaces it. [19][20][21]. This can obviously not be solved by blocking the user, as the user just switch IP or create a new account. Siru108 (talk) 14:57, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
