Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Brainscan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Variety. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Sprung (TV series) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Sprung (TV series), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. Hi. I saw your comment about the unmade remake of Seven Men from Now. I still do not believe that announcement is notable enough to be included, but I have started a discussion on Talk:Seven Men from Now to try to reach a consensus. Notice

The article A Kid in Aladdin's Palace has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable direct to video film. Fails WP:NFILM as only things found were a passing mention in a Variety article, film database sites and videos.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Copy-and-paste page moves

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:Animal Control (TV series) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Animal Control (TV series). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. With respect, that article is 40 years old and is from a magazine that hasn't existed for 20 plus years, I'm not sure I understand exactly what the issue is with what I posted. It took me a long time to find information on this very obscure film and now you're telling me this is a "strike" against me for violating copyright on a magazine from a publisher that is no longer a going concern or archived by the original authors for profit. Frankly this feels like a Draconian response. IonicBreezeMachine (talk) 22:22, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We don't actually base our decisions about copyright based on the odds of getting caught. Wikipedia aims to be a world-class encyclopedia, and knowingly infringing on the copyright of others does not align with that aim, so sorry. Look, all I want to do is share information about these forgotten genre films as it isn't widely available, that's all I've ever wanted to do. There was never any malicious intent when I put that information there. I'll try to avoid this issue in the future. IonicBreezeMachine (talk) 22:58, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable non-free use File:Picture of Jim Danforth.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Picture of Jim Danforth.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:51, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have strong enough feelings to speak against this so if you feel it's in violation go ahead and delete it. I like adding information on esoteric subjects to Wikipedia, and I don't want to jeopardize that on account of Copyright policy. IonicBreezeMachine (talk) 14:15, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about The Chilling

[edit]

Hello, IonicBreezeMachine, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username Chris troutman, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, The Chilling, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Chilling.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Chris troutman}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Your draft article, Draft:Chillers (film)

Not vandalism

[edit]

My edit was not vandalism but rather undoing an LTA editor. Please look at the edit history of the page. EvergreenFir (talk) 04:58, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am well aware of the history of the page and how the release table used to be on the main "[year] in film" page before confusion over release dates in other territories such as Europe necessitated moving the table elsewhere. People rely on that information for research on releases of films as well as historical context for when they were release (competition, relativity to one another, etc.). What you did was delete 100s upon 100s of hours of other peoples' collective work for no good reason. If you had an issue with the layout you could've discussed your concerns on the "talk" page before undertaking such drastic erasure. IonicBreezeMachine (talk) 05:03, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have sent you a note about a page you started

Notice

The article House/Wife has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreleased film, does not appear to be notable; two of three sources appear to be about a different film entirely

— Moriwen (talk) 23:40, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

For what possible reason? It's a movie that was shot, it exists, and it's notable for being part of the trend of content erasure facing modern media. IonicBreezeMachine (talk) 23:23, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
