Request on 22:33:46, 17 September 2024 for assistance on AfC submission by Elfelix

[edit]

Elfelix (talk) 22:33, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

AfC request: Draft:Sudarshan Kapur.

The above Draft article about Sudarshan Kapur should be entered into Wikipedia proper. It was recently written (since November 2023, and by elfelix starting April 2024); it includes information mistakenly contained in another Wikipedia article ("Sudarshan Kapoor"). Apparently the reason why the above Draft article was not 'in due course' published on Wikipedia is due to its conflation with that prior article of a similar name: "Sudarshan Kapoor".

Sudarshan Kapoor is NOT the same person as Sudarshan Kapur (see Talk:Sudarshan Kapoor and Draft talk:Sudarshan Kapur). Note: the book Raising Up a Prophet (1992) was written by Sudarshan Kapur.

The article Sudarshan Kapoor, by mistake, used to contained information about Sudarshan Kapur. This mistaken information in the Kapoor article was deleted on June 6, 2024.

The basic difference between these two articles is already stated above.

The reasons for the mistaken conflation of Kapur and Kapoor: 1) both are American professors of similar age, originally from India, with a career focus on Gandhi and nonviolent political action; 2) it seems that a person of India with such a name might transliterate it to either Kapur or to Kapoor.

The user elfelix is the party first responsible for this Wikipedia mistake.

The AfC request by elfelix was likely made in June 2024. Elfelix (talk) 22:33, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Elfelix: Hi.How can we help you with this?. Happpy editing!--- Bhairava7(@píng mє-tαlk mє) 13:01, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@OIM20: Hi.I known the editor move her draft to article, according to WP:DRAFTMOVE if creator or any other user move the draft to article then no need to again incubates the article into the draft as per WP:DRAFT , Yep! was I've declined this draft for improperly sourced but if the creator is preferring his article is fulfilling the policies of Wikipedia, so, it is good and I've thought if the article is not fulfilling Wikipedia's WP:NBASIC, WP:SIGCOV, WP:GNG and WP:N then it should be eligible for deletion under creteria A7 of speedy Deletion. Cyber Security and Resilience Bill (2024)

[edit]

Thankyou for reviewing my draft article on the CS&R legislation. Your comment asks for a section on the schedule, which is the same as for all UK legislation. This raises the issue of whether the article is WP:TOOSOON, but the Bill was announced in July with much interest and will now be at the "Pre-legislative Scrutiny" stage. It has not been presented to Parliament yet though.

Certainly I can add initially a schedule/diary section using the formal 14 stages as it proceeds through UK parliament. Perhaps: i) Date- Announcement of Bill ii) Stage of Bill: Pre-legislative Scrutiny iii) and onwards the various stages.

Details about the Bill can only be added when it is presented! It will become a much-used piece of legislation with wide public interest in it. Richard Nowell (talk) 11:00, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Celest123 (16:58, 17 October 2024)

[edit]

Hi, I'm currently editing a page that seems to have been written like an advertisement, has an unholy lack of citations, and seems to be mostly written to paint a good public image of the company, in general, is it okay to remove a vast amount of an article when it holds 0 relevance and has no sources behind it? (here's the article if you were wondering) https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/NRMA --Celest123 (talk) 16:58, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) @Celest123: Welcome to Wikipedia! Yes, you can remove promotional material from articles, but please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the relevant policies first. I've sent you a welcome message on your user talk with some helpful guides. Also, please don't forget to use edit summaries for your edits. Happy editing! – DreamRimmer (talk) 17:40, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Draft:Rahgir (singer)

[edit]

Hi @Bhairava7, Thank you for reviewing Draft:Rahgir (singer) and for your thoughtful feedback. I really appreciate the time you took to look over the article details.

I understand your concerns about the subject not fully meeting the WP:GNG criteria. While I can't find that if Rahgir has received any formal awards on web (which would imply that he hasn't), I do think the article might meet the criteria under WP:SINGER (as you said in your comment). I have already added sources from neutral publications like The Times of India, Mid-Day, and Lallantop which provide decent coverage of his work and career.

As for the YouTube Creator Award reference, that came from the template module itself, pulled from the "About" section of his YouTube channel. It’s a primary source, but the award itself is automatically given when the required subscriber count is reached, so I included it for completeness.

Thanks again for your feedback, I’ll keep working on improving the draft by adding more references as you said!

Best regards, Macrobreed2 (talk) 14:47, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Macrobreed2: Hello, I'm aware about that but I don't think and it's not possible you're draft clearly fulfil requirements of WP:SINGER and WP:NM because it's not confirm they are recipient of any music awards...Happy editing! --- Bhairava7(@píng mє-tαlk mє) 04:00, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Help me improve this article

[edit]

Hi there, I am reaching out to express my appreciation for your diligent efforts in protecting Wikipedia from vandalism and maintaining the quality of its content. Your work is integral to the strength of Wikipedia as a trusted source of knowledge. However, I would like to highlight another cornerstone of Wikipedia - collaborative improvement. I am currently working on enhancing African content and promoting articles that support the development and recognition of African languages. While the region faces challenges with fewer available references and less content representation, I believe that the article you are continue to decline, aligns with Wikipedia's five pillars, and I have carefully adhered to the instructions you previously shared. To foster collaboration, I kindly ask for your assistance in improving this article instead of declining it. Your expertise and guidance would be invaluable in refining the content and ensuring it meets Wikipedia's standards. By working together, we can contribute to bridging content gaps and enriching Wikipedia with more comprehensive coverage from the global south. Bobbyshabangu talk 17:41, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
