Recent edits to Schizo (1976 film)

[edit]

Hello, and thank you for your recent contributions. I appreciate the effort you made for our project, but unfortunately I had to undo your edit(s) because I believe the article was better before you made that change. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. Thank you! hamiltonstone (talk) 12:06, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm not sure if this is how I repy to you or contact you. Forgive me, but I'm new to wikipedia. I have to say that I don't understand your reasoning for removing an external link to "Time Out" - an established critical site, and a link to a review that was published at the time of the film's release. Wonder if you would care to comment/ elucidate? Beryl Reid fan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beryl reid fan (talkcontribs) 12:50, 8 January 2014‎
Hi Beryl reid fan. The edit appears to have been reverted because it was somewhat out of place. Time Out's review should ideally be placed in a new section, probably titled Reception. The external links section is really just for links to external sites. I will add some links to the top of this talk page which may help you. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Sheila Keith has been reverted.
Your edit here to Sheila Keith was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed () is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 12:34, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Lynda Baron photo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Lynda Baron photo.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. January (talk) 16:03, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:"A Date with a Dream" (1948).jpg

This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Are you really a fan of the actress in question? Just asking because if so I am sure you'll agree with me that it was outrageous she never got her well-deserved damehood. Yours, Quis separabit? 10:07, 13 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I only know her valiant work in "Flesh For Frankenstein", but I'm sure she is a contender. Beryl reid fan (talk) 15:14, 13 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Whoa. I checked the film you mentioned (at IMDb) -- she wasn't in it. Are we talking about two different people? There was no one in the film you mentioned with any remotely similar name. What about The Killing of Sister George? Anyway she is deceased and thus forever beyond the reach (or need) of such honours. Quis separabit? 01:02, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for delay responding, and for the confusion...I thought you were speaking of being a fan of Ms. Van Vooren... I very much am a fan of Beryl Reid - and wish she'd had more chance to show her work as a leading character actress in movies - though 'Entertaining Mr Sloane' and 'Sister George' are memorable and excellent.Beryl reid fan (talk) 10:42, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:"Colonel March Investigates" (1955).jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable fair use File:Barry Stokes (actor).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Barry Stokes (actor).jpg.

Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 22:36, 30 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Peripitus, Thank you for your interest. In response, I don't quite understand, when you write, "Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template", I'm not exactly sure WHERE this is - do you mean opening up the section titled "Summary" (containing my original reasons) - just adding it on the end here?

Thanks,

Beryl reid fan (talk) 09:58, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. The issue is that Barry Stokes is still alive, and so a freely licensed image of him could be taken. You can add the template to any part of the linked image page. Please note though that copyrighted images of living people are almost never kept, and then only the reasons listed on the non-free content page - Peripitus (Talk) 11:01, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Peripitus, I will get onto this pronto (i.e., in the next 36 hours). Beryl reid fan (talk) 11:05, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:"Child in the House" (1956).jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Replaceable fair use File:Photo of actor John Hamill.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Photo of actor John Hamill.gif.

Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:12, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe we should collaborate on your edits?! FWiW Bzuk (talk) 23:17, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Yes, maybe that would be good. Sorry, I know I rephrased some of your "Plot" text yesterday and felt half guilty about it, not quite sure of the protocol, etc., but went ahead nonetheless. It's great the way you've substantially expanded some of the articles I've been adding to recently. They have benefitted a lot from your input....I'm actually trying to wind down from Wikipedia, as I find it rather addictive/compulsive, not always in a good way. Though it can be v. enjoyable...What do you have in mind? Beryl reid fan (talk) 09:57, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Falcon series is about to be shown on TCM in Canada. That might be an interesting series to review. I will be taping the whole series so I can do something about plot summaries. FWiW Bzuk (talk) 22:33, 1 September 2016 (UTC) FWIW, I too, am leery about too much time on Wikipedia; in a two-year "writer's block", I wrote thousands of articles, and now regret that effort, as I do not want to monitor changes on that many articles. FWiW Bzuk (talk) 22:33, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that sounds like a good idea...I don't have access to TCM, but would be happy to help. When shall we start? I could start sourcing reviews now....Re. writer's block - how interesting - yes, I write also, and find it best to ban working on here altogether when I am, as it diverts my creative energies, or at least limit it to certain times of the day. Beryl reid fan (talk) 09:52, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Although I do write for publication occasionally (I am reviewing Sully this coming week), most of my work lately has been related to filmmaking. My latest film was recently aired and related to an unusual find in our city; an abandoned airport was found under the foundations of a high school, and led to a documentary film on the topic. FWiW Bzuk (talk) 13:09, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Intersting subject! How old was the airport? Beryl reid fan (talk) 13:20, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Full disclosure here, I am what some would call a "boffin", as I specialize in aviation history. The water "aerodrome" was in operation from 1927–1947 and when the high school was built in 1955, all the remaining hangars, warehouses, air traffic control tower, and related facilities were razed. What was left was a ramp to the water, which was adopted by a boating club that moved in, and the administrative building, which a pest control company took over. (You can't make this stuff up!) By complete happenstance, the production company located three bush pilots who flew from the airport; one had made the very last flight from the waterway before the airport was closed down. See: <https://vimeo.com/147743768> FWiW Bzuk (talk) 13:55, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That's interesting. Nice clip also, thanks. I know nothing of this subject, I have to say - I just like the odd juxtaposition of school and subterranean airport. Beryl reid fan (talk) 20:21, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Damaris Hayman.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Damaris Hayman.jpg.

Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:16, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I want to give a rationale to your challenge to delete the image, but I can't work out where exactly to write it. It says:

"Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable."

Where exactly is "below the original fair use template?"

I find the language used highly technical and intimidating.

If you can help, I would appreciate it. I'm aware the file is soon to be deleted.

Beryl reid fan (talk) 23:21, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

N.B: I've just added my "reason that a free replacement can not be found or created," on the file page, though I'm not confident I've added it to the correct place. Beryl reid fan (talk) 23:41, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Beryl; I was drawn to this discussion from WT:NFC. I wanted to spend a bit of time to share some thoughts with you on this matter. Wikipedia is founded on the principle of being the free encyclopedia. This is not free as in anyone can read it. It's free as in anyone can use it for any purpose they desire. For a broader understand of this, see Gratis versus libre. We are a libre resource. Given that, we do not want to accept non-free content when we can obtain free content that serves the same purpose. This is my the Foundation, the people who oversee Wikipedia, put out a policy that strongly restricts using non-free imagery of people who are still alive. See Foundation:Resolution:Licensing policy #3. That policy says we are not to use non-free images of people when "we can reasonably expect someone to upload a freely licensed file for the same purpose, such as is the case for almost all portraits of living notable individuals". This is pretty unequivocal. This is why WP:NFCC #1 exists.
  • Now, to this specific case; Damaris Hayman is still very much alive. In fact, she's been active as an actress even last year. See this for evidence. Given that she is still alive, we can presume that a free license image of her could be created even if she were retired, while she is yet living.
  • Further, we can not properly conclude that no free image of her exists. Her career started more than 60 years ago, and she has a long list of credits to her name. Copyright laws have dramatically changed over the years of her career. There is very likely material from appearances in earlier works that no longer enjoy copyright protection. For a primer on such rights in the U.S., see Copyright Term and the Public Domain in the United States from Cornell. Some scouring of earlier films and appearances in media may very well generate a free image of her.
  • Though her work in Dr. Who was considered "memorable", it was not for her visual appearance. As such, we do not have to have this visual in orde to support the article. Any visual of her from any time in her life will do just fine.
  • This image is blatantly and clearly replaceable under our policies and can not be accepted for depiction of this living person per what I've laid out above. I hope you understand. If not, please feel free to ask questions. I'll be happy to answer. --Hammersoft (talk) 20:05, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Hammersoft, Thank you for taking the time to write to me about this. The only thing I would say in response is that Damaris H.'s recent work [1](her first in two decades?) is a reprise of her role in the "Doctor Who" serial, which adds fuel to the argument that her notoriety as an actress rests substantially on this performance, which the current image depicts. To my knowledge, most of her other work is in bit parts hardly even of cameo size in a large amount of screen work. The "Doctor Who" role was a sizeable supporting role in five episodes of the 1971 serial. I would like to also contest what you say about her work in this being "memorable", 'not for her visual appearance.' An actor's visual appearance along with their voice, is one of the main tools of their trade. In this case, Damaris H.'s distinctive buck toothed gawky look was as memorable as her upper class voice. The photo clearly shows this, and her odd hand gesture describes clearly the eccentric person she was playing. I understand you have to play by the rules, but I do feel the idea that free images are easily available is innacurate. Yes, perhaps someone could trace a fan's photo of her from a Doctor Who convention, but who is going to do that? Time and money are involved, and we are volunteers. Anyway, whatever, I respect your final decision in the matter. Beryl reid fan (talk) 21:07, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Erf. Not sure I'm being clear. Let me try again. Ok, I agree her work in Doctor Who was notable. Ok, it was a reprisal. That doesn't justify the image. It justifies sourced commentary about her performance. Unless you can find significant secondary sources that point to her _visual_ appearance in the role as being somehow significant, the image isn't useful. Even if all her other performances were bit parts, there might be imagery that is available under a free license. It doesn't matter if its a bit part. If it's free, we're good. You saw her buck toothed look was memorable. Fine. Prove it. I'm not seeing it. I pumped "Damaris Hayman" and the separate terms "buck" and "tooth" into Google and got nothing usable. Maybe you can fair better, perhaps a review in a strong secondary source that notes her buck tooth as being important. Same goes for hand gesture. As is, the article mentions neither of these so I fail to see how it is important. As for obtaining free images, we obtain free images of living, notable people all the time. We have thousands upon thousands of them. LOTS of people do it. One of the most prolific on our project is David Shankbone. Check out his voluminous contributions. He's upload thousands upon thousands of images of notable people. Even if we didn't have such people, the policy remains. CAN we create a free image of her? Yes; she's alive. That's the policy. The question isn't whether free images exist now or not. The question isn't whether it is hard to get such free imagery or not. The question is CAN we do so. The answer here is an unequivocal yes, because she's alive, not incarcerated for life and noted a noted recluse. --Hammersoft (talk) 21:20, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please, there's no excuse for rudeness ("Erf. Not sure I'm being clear. Let me try again")...I don't know whether I can justify the image in the terms you suggest - I have searched online for explicit references to her appearance, and I have added the best I can (not great) to the file rationale...."Her _visual_ appearance in the role as being somehow significant,"I would say that any actor's visual appearance in any role is of significance. 50% of any actor's performance is the way they look. If it is a "memorable,"performance, a lot of that will be conveyed through visual appearance. Her face and eyes and expression are medium for the character's expression, and she has a highly distinctive characterful look....Also, when you say "The question isn't whether it is hard to get such free imagery or not. The question is CAN we do so," yes that is correct, but it is to me in the realm of theory - the practicality of the matter is that when you remove this image, the infobox is likely to be blank of any picture for quite some time, possibly until the actor's death, and that I feel is a great pity, because at least at the moment, people can look and see, "Oh, that's who she is, I know her," and it's positive - what all this bureucratic legislating is creating is only a negative - a removal of a rather delightful photo. Perhaps try searching for one yourself? You'll see how easy it is...It's also autographed, which could be of interest to graphologists. Beryl reid fan (talk) 23:22, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • I wasn't trying to be rude. I was trying to be polite and place the blame of lack of understanding on your part on to me by way of saying that I didn't explain it well. Sorry. A visual significance would be supported by secondary sources, not just because we say it is. If there's no secondary sources to support her visual appearance being significant, then there's no reason to have the image. We have plenty of people whom are alive and lacking photographs on their articles. It's not a hindrance to us. We will not accept non-free images to depict living people except in very limited circumstances. This is not one of them. I came here in an attempt to help. My meager ability to communicate was apparently insufficient to the task. In all politeness, I bid you adieu. --Hammersoft (talk) 00:07, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Hammersoft, I misinterpreted your comment. I must have heard it with the wrong tone of voice attached, which is my fault. Text can often be misinterpreted this way.... I appreciate the trouble you took to explain things, and it is of learning for me to further understand the ways of Wikipedia. No problem with the file, it was an early effort when I was just starting out on Wikipedia, and didn't know the rules about living people, etc. Beryl reid fan (talk) 00:13, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

When I say "it was an early effort when I was just starting out on Wikipedia, and didn't know the rules about living people, etc." I am not conceding anything, just being gracious in defeat - I thought you had made the decision to delete the file. If it is still up for discussion, I will fight for it, as I believe in the image and the contribution it's making to Wikipedia. I originally uploaded it 3 yrs ago when I didn't know the rules about living people. Recently Hullaballoo Wolfowitz removed it and I added further rationale to keep it and put it back up. I believe I have a right to defend it, even if my original reason for uploading it was flawed. If you delete it that is your choice. So I've replaced my rationale on the file. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:"It's Never Too Late to Mend" (1937).jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:"It's Never Too Late to Mend" (1937).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:56, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thanks for the links at Gladys Cooper. When you add references, though, you need to add at least the following information, where available: (i) author name; (ii) title of the article or book; (iii) name of publisher and (iv) date of publication. See WP:CITE for more information. All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:33, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message just now on my talk page. You wrote: "When you add references, though, you need to add at least the following information, where available: (i) author name; (ii) title of the article or book; (iii) name of publisher and (iv) date of publication." No. When you leave a raw link, such as you left at Gladys Cooper, someone has to come along and add in the information. If the link goes dead during that time, then the information is lost. So it is very important to add the bibliographic details when you add the link. You can respond here, if you wish to discuss further, so that the conversation is all together. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:01, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I thought the reflink process did that. I tried to use reflink to fill in the links, but found you'd done them already. Which gave the uncomfortable feeling of someone on my back, monitoring me. Beryl reid fan (talk) 21:12, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Gladys Cooper is on my watchlist, since I have done some work on it before. My watchlist informed me that new changes had been made to the article. Therefore, I looked at the changes and saw the raw links you added, and so I filled them in and also removed redundancies concerning the television roles. The purpose of the watchlists is to facilitate editors' monitoring articles. I didn't realize that you planned to fill in your bare links yourself using a reflink tool; I've never used such a tool – I always fill out my refs as I add new ones.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable fair use File:Seven Keys to Baldpate (1925 film).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Seven Keys to Baldpate (1925 film).jpg.

Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:27, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The above also applies to File:Adventure Story (1961 TV play).jpg. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:56, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

You need to be very careful adding links to YouTube to Wikipedia because of WP:COPYLINK, WP:YOUTUBE and WP:ELNEVER. Not everything you find on YouTube has been uploaded by the original copyright holder/creator of the content, and links to copyright violations are not to be added to any Wikipedia pages at all per relevant Wikipedia policy. I have asked for clarification about this as it pertains to sources for non-free uploads at WP:MCQ#File:A for Andromeda (1961 TV series).jpg so feel to cotribute to the discussion about the sourcing for File:Adventure Story (1961 TV play).jpg and File:A for Andromeda (1961 TV series).jpg if you like. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:00, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Beryl reid fan. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:22, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Andrzejbanas. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Golden Madonna, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Andrzejbanas (talk) 17:08, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Beryl-fan, I'm mostly conflicted with these because I'm getting a few issues. I wouldn't use the cinematograh.it site as it states that they can not confirm any accuracy in their database information. So I would ignore it as they don't even state how this information is gathered. For example, AllMovie and BFI seem to state the film was directed by Vajda, Luigi Carpentieri. IMDb (which we shouldn't use as a source) seems to state that both of them directed that, but I can't find any source stating what the situation is here. I could potentially dig up that early Monthly Film Bulletin review at my local university that's mentioned in the BFI article. The other issue is just common problems with Wikipedia's article on films. No source for production countries, release information, etc. The infobox should be used to reflect information in the prose, not just for filling in gaps, and it needs to be sourced as well. I'm leaning towards focusing on that BFI article on the missing film bits, as it seems to contain more information on the film in prose, like, it feels less prone to database entry errors. But, i feel weird ignoring the info about Luigi too. What a difficult article! :) Andrzejbanas (talk) 23:06, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Andrzejbanas - how interesting! I notice 'Variety' credit the director as Vajda (https://archive.org/stream/variety174-1949-04#page/n203/mode/2up). The BFI page gives Vajda as director, with Carpentieri as 'Assistant director' (https://www.bfi.org.uk/films-tv-people/4ce2b6ab50ff0). It seems to be a British film shot in Italy using local crew? I also (the more I look at it) see that the film is generally referred to as "The Golden Madonna" rather than "Golden Madonna" and feel it is perhaps worth retitling the page? Beryl reid fan (talk) 23:27, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Could be worth a move. How confusing! I like editing articles on older italian films, and in more genre based work, Italian productions often make up credits and add people randomly to get more production funding, so this potentially could have been the case here, but we can't really assume that without any proof. How annoying! I would maybe try to add credits based on Variety and BFI, perhaps I'll try to add a hat note about the Italian production being quite differently credited. Maybe more info will arrive in the future. Glad we both discussed this to find this mysterious film crediting. Andrzejbanas (talk) 01:48, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this might be worth a watch (for the credits at least) - the film itself: https://player.bfi.org.uk/rentals/film/watch-the-golden-madonna-1949-online I also found this (from book 'British Films in the United States') https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=zOp2WxH5yscC&pg=PA191&lpg=PA191&dq=the+golden+madonna+1949&source=bl&ots=u29hRanlu3&sig=4ndCPcxqI4f4ox8-S1yWIcX54f4&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiVoKrluereAhVOT8AKHabiCgUQ6AEwD3oECA8QAQ#v=onepage&q=the%20golden%20madonna%201949&f=false and this from TV Guide: https://www.tvguide.com/movies/the-golden-madonna/cast/124776/ Anyway, here's hoping for clarification! A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. A tag has been placed on File:Anna Palk (actress).jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Deletion discussion about The Pursuers

[edit]

Hello, Beryl reid fan, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username VickKiang, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, The Pursuers, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Pursuers.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|VickKiang}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

VickKiang 07:10, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @VickKlang:,

What do you consider unsuitable about the article, please?

Kind regards,

Beryl reid fan (talk) 09:19, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

See my rationale in the AfD. VickKiang 09:27, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What does Afd stand for and how do I access that rationale?

Beryl reid fan (talk) 09:30, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

IMHO I'm sure that you have participated in AfD (Articles for Deletion) discussions before, but just click the link above, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Pursuers. Make sure you provide a policy-based rationale. VickKiang 09:32, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe I have participated in this before (I could be wrong, my memory is not what it was), but thank you anyway for the link. What do you mean by 'policy based?'

Beryl reid fan (talk) 09:46, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Have a look at WP:GNG, the general notability guideline, and WP:NFILM, the film one. I'd recommend that, if you vote, have an explanation why in your opinion the article passes or fails the relevant guidelines. VickKiang 09:49, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

O.K. thanks, VickKiang.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

To customise your preferences for automated AfD notifications for articles to which you've significantly contributed (or to opt-out entirely), please visit the configuration page. Delivered by SDZeroBot (talk) 01:03, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable non-free use File:Actor Ernest Milton.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Actor Ernest Milton.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Bungle (talkcontribs) 16:13, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
