What do you think?
I was wondering if you'd care to chime in on something Zappa brought to my attention. He and I are torn on whether to include any mention of all the throwback schemes in the 2015 Bojangles' Southern 500 article. There's certainly a lot of fanfare and Zappa says he's got plenty of sources for the schemes, but he and I aren't sure if it's notable enough considering we never track paint scheme changes from one race to the next and the throwback schemes won't affect the outcome of Sunday's race. What's your thoughts?--Nascar king 02:17, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Nascarking and ZappaOMati: Don't overdo it, but mention it (maybe also mention that Ken Squier and Ned Jarrett are going to broadcast part of the race too). My current FAC, 2006 UAW-Ford 500, (briefly) talks about the repaving of the track in the background section. I'd suggest something similar be done here. --Bentvfan54321 (talk) 02:22, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

FAC
Sorry, I just saw your note at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/2006 UAW-Ford 500/archive3. I do understand your frustration (especially since this is the third nomination) but it was actually quite a way off from achieving consensus to promote. I don't know why, but sports articles of all kinds have always struggled to attract attention at FAC. --Laser brain (talk) 11:16, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Laser brain: Thanks for the reply. I just thought it was going to pull through this time (2010 Sylvania 300 had four supports and an image and source review), so I figured we were getting pretty close. It's just particularly frustrating because I'm going for the Four Award, and I got all the way to GA status within about a week or two after creating the article. I thought I'd just breeze through FAC by completing some minor fixes and have an FA by March, and it's September, meaning it'll probably be Thanksgiving at the earliest by the time this gets promoted. I appreciate your time and everything you do; I'm just frustrated because in two weeks I have to start the process all over again and there's no guarantee it will pull through then. Thanks, --Bentvfan54321 (talk) 12:33, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
- Once Ian is back from vacation I will be happy to review the article. I've been trying to stay away from reviewing because only Graham and I are working as FAC coordinators right now and we don't want to have to recuse from any nominations while Ian is unavailable. Let me know when you renominate it, in case I don't notice. Hopefully the other folks who have provided reviews and/or support will be willing to revisit. --Laser brain (talk) 13:09, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Laser brain: Thanks! So the earliest I can renominate it is 26 September, correct? --Bentvfan54321 (talk) 13:28, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
- That's correct. --Laser brain (talk) 17:41, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

@Curly Turkey, Mike Christie, Harrias, 23W, Laser brain, ZappaOMati, and Nascar1996: @Z105space, Zwerg Nase, Nascarking, and Jahn1234567890: I completely understand if you all are busy, but if you have the time, I'd appreciate you giving the above article a thorough review. It's currently on its FOURTH FAC nomination and while it can be argued that the prose was the main reason for its first failure, neither of the first two really garnered that much support. The third saw more attention but it still wasn't enough, so if you need something to do, I would greatly appreciate your help here. Thanks, --Bentvfan54321 (talk) 18:30, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
- I probably won't be doing any reviewing until Ian Rose returns from wikibreak, since we are down to two FAC delegates and can't handle recusals very efficiently. If it's still open when Ian returns, I'll be glad to review it. --Laser brain (talk) 19:48, 26 September 2015 (UTC)

WikiProject Motorsport tagging
Hi Bentvfan54321, I've noticed you adding the Wikiproject Motorsport tag to a large number of American racing articles, together with the American Open Wheel Racing one. As a general rule of thumb, it is not always necessary to add the tag of the parent Wikiproject (WP Motorsport) on the talk page if the article in question is wholly within the remit of a child project. So for example, an article about an Indycar race would only need the WP American Open Wheel Racing tag, while one for a driver who also competed outside of America needs to have both tags. It is, of course, entirely harmless to add both to an article, and it certainly isn't wrong, but it may make your job easier in the future if you only add the one when necessary. QueenCake (talk) 18:20, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
- @QueenCake: Thanks for the message! I've usually just been copying and pasting (unless, of course, the article should be at a different class and/or importance) so it really isn't that much extra work, but since I'm trying to get all these articles assessed, it's good to know only the one is absolutely necessary. Thanks again, --Bentvfan54321 (talk) 21:18, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. NASCAR Results
Hi Bentvfan54321, It was me who edits Kyle Busch's NASCAR results all the time. I think you are wrong - that different colors are for positions 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-43. It doesn't matter if the driver finished the race or not as you said (regular visitor doesn't care anyway, he wants to see just that finishing position). And by the way - I edited all Kyle Busch's results and no one but you claimed it's wrong. And for example, take a look at 2008 Nationwide Series race at Kentucky (No. 16) - Kyle finished 30th, he wasn't running at the finish and the color is different than at 2015 Xfinity Series race at Homestead (No. 33) and no one cares. So what's the problem? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mannoroth81 (talk • contribs) 11:13, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Mannoroth81: Take a look at the key, Template:NASCAR driver results legend. Finishes of 21st or worse are all the same, with a different color used for DNFs. Perhaps a few others (pinging @Jahn1234567890, ZappaOMati, and The Bushranger:) could provide some insight as well?
- Also, if other results such as Kentucky are wrong, having one of us check the results for accuracy as Jahn recently did with Jeff Gordon may not be a bad idea either. --Bentvfan54321 (talk) 12:49, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
I see. Sorry about that continuous changing all the time then. I was wrong and I'm gonna fix Kyle Busch's results soon. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mannoroth81 (talk • contribs) 15:22, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Mannoroth81: No worries! It took me a while to learn the ropes too. Let me know if you need anything else. --Bentvfan54321 (talk) 15:35, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
Your work at 2001 American Memorial
Hi, Bentvfan. I created the article linked above and wanted to thank you for the updates and improvements. In particular, this edit caught my attention, as those are accessibility features seen in featured lists. If you're ever looking for something to do, those of us who frequent the featured list process would be interested in what you could do, if that edit is any indication. There are currently no FLs related to NASCAR or American open-wheel racing, making for rare gaps in our sports FL collection. Between individual race winners (Daytona 500, Indianapolis 500, etc.), season champions, all-time leaders, award recipients, halls of fame, and other categories, there's a lot of potential high-quality articles out there. I don't know how interested you may be in this type of editing, but if you can reformat a table like that, you're capable of making a table in an FL, and I don't see that often among editors with no previous involvement at FLC. It's something that I wanted to note and commend. While I'm here, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Giants2008 (Talk) 01:16, 25 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Giants2008: Thanks! I actually learned that standard while going through the FAC process for 2010 Sylvania 300. A few NASCAR editors tried to start an FL collaboration last offseason, but it never really took off. I'll certainly keep that in mind though for the future. Merry Christmas! --Bentvfan54321 (talk) 14:48, 25 December 2015 (UTC)

Spread the WikiLove by wishing another user a Merry Christmas, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past, a good friend, or just some random person. Happy New Year!
Spread the cheer by adding {{subst:Xmas6}} to their talk page with a friendly message.
