Hannah Montana FAC
[edit]Hi again! I just thought I'd let you know I've put Hannah Montana up for FAC, since you completed the GA nomination in December 2020. If you are able to, I'd love to have your comments. Thanks in advance! SatDis (talk) 10:13, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
- @SatDis: Thank you for your message. I am happy to see the article in the FAC space, and I will look at it in the near future. If for whatever reason I have not posted a review by this time next week, please ping me as a reminder. Aoba47 (talk) 21:43, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
TFA Requests
[edit]Hi, you have listed The Beautician and the Beast for TFA at pending. I have tentatively reserved a date for it for February, but if you would still like it be considered you will need to nominate it at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests. Cheers. Gog the Mild (talk) 16:22, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for the message. I have put up a TFA request for the article. It has a notable anniversary and a romantic comedy would seem like a fun idea for the Valentine's Day TFA slot. Aoba47 (talk) 21:42, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
FAC Regine Velasquez
[edit]Hello Aoba47, Happy New Year and hope you are doing well and safe, and enjoyed a much deserved break. Thanks for the edits/tweaks you made as well. I'm giving the main article another go at FAC and was wondering if you have some spare time to revisit and provide your review? Thanks and I hope you are having a great week! Pseud 14 (talk) 04:27, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Pseud 14: Thank you for the message. I am happy to see this article back in the FAC space. I will look through it and post a review within the week, but please ping me if for whatever reason, I do not post anything on the FAC by this time next week. It is a somewhat long article so I want to make sure I do my due diligence by thoroughly and carefully reading through all of it. Best of luck with the FAC! Aoba47 (talk) 05:11, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- Much appreciate it! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Pseud 14 (talk) 17:19, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
1999/2000
[edit]Missy Elliott and Beyonce recorded a song titled Crazy Feelings, which was released on Missy's album in 1999. The Amil collaboration, I Got That, was released in her album in 2000. Now, I'm not anyone's almanac but was the year 1999 not before 2000? 2600:1702:2A40:3E40:DD81:2EAA:8E4A:13D5 (talk) 19:09, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- For whatever reason when I looked up the song, I got a different year, but upon further investigation, you are right. I have restored your edit to the "I Got That" article with a minor spacing correction. Aoba47 (talk) 19:14, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
Thank you. Regarding my other edit, I know that the biography source is incorrect (there is photographic evidence that proves it false), but since I can't find a reliable source to replace it, I will leave it alone....for now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1702:2A40:3E40:DD81:2EAA:8E4A:13D5 (talk) 19:38, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message. I do appreciate your edits to the article, and apologies for reverting them without looking into them further. Upon further reflection, I do understand your concerns about this. From my research the timeline of when Beyoncé and Jay-Z first met is not 100% clear and there are reports that they did first meet years earlier. While the biography claims this, I can understand needing more of a consensus and more coverage to fully support this claim. For those reasonings, I have reverted the article back to your edit as I do not want the article to spread misinformation in any way. Thank you again for your help and apologies again for the revert. I do appreciate other editors' help and insight. Aoba47 (talk) 19:46, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
No problem, I think the Carters keep the timeline publicly murky on purpose, due to their age difference and the fact that one of them would've been a minor at the time. Jay's initial statement that they met at the beginning of her celebrity with Destiny's Child is the one supported by a photo that appeared in Vibe magazine back in the spring of 1998. But Bey knows it's better for them to have met when she was considered a legal adult, lol. And there's no need to apologize for checking my sarcasm. I can be a little snippy at times, even when I don't intend to be. Nice talking! 2600:1702:2A40:3E40:DD81:2EAA:8E4A:13D5 (talk) 20:33, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for the conversation. I actually really enjoyed it and learned a lot. I hope we can work together sometime in the future. I agree with you that it is not a great look at all, especially when combined with the discussions around Jay-Z and Foxy Brown. I was honestly unaware of the age difference and Beyoncé being underage. That is actually quite disconcerting and I believe it is something worthy of looking into further. I am just glad that this piece of misinformation is out of the article. Aoba47 (talk) 21:54, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
I wasn't going to mention THAT, but yeah. I think it's pretty much accepted that those discussions hold truth. But it's about what you can prove, a matter of common sense (what is blatantly obvious) vs public denial. He'll never admit it or face consequence bc he wasn't stupid enough to marry her while she was underage, like a certain collaborator (and that reckoning took decades). Countless inappropriate "relationships" in music, from Elvis & Cilla to whatever's up w/ Dr*ke & M*llie, get swept under a rug, denied, addressed comedically, or forgotten about altogether as time goes on. W*nya Morris joked w/ Charlem*gne about traveling w/ teenage Br*ndy, so they could...be intimate in accordance w/ Age of Consent. Then, in the face of "Surviving", he put out a bs claim she wasn't underaged and blogs went 'Well, he said it's false!' She was in her 30s, getting emotional on VH1, describing their 2 yr "relationship" which began when she toured w/ his group at 15 and ended bc he "fell in love with someone else" (after finally realizing he should date a grown woman, enter Ad*na Howard & inspo for Never say Never). 2600:1702:2A40:3E40:DD81:2EAA:8E4A:13D5 (talk) 17:56, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- All of these relationships are very disconcerting to say the least. I am curious on how the upcoming Elvis film will handle his relationship with Priscilla because it was very clearly inappropriate. I was unaware of the Brandy situation and it is disheartening to hear about it. In a somewhat related discussion, I was always disappointed when artists continued to work with R. Kelly like Fantasia with "Sleeping with the One I Love" or Jennifer Hudson with "Where You At" and "It's Your World" even when the allegations against him were very well-known. I am glad that some of those individuals removed the songs from streaming services and some made public apologies about it as that is at least something. Aoba47 (talk) 19:24, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
I probably won't watch the new Elvis tbh, I feel like I know enough of his story already, but I'll definitely read reviews to see how that part gets addressed in the current climate. Mr. Kelly was the "certain collaborator" I mentioned in regards to Jay Z, so it's definitely related, and you're right, it's a start. I've had way too much fun talking to you, are we breaking any rules by deviating from what started as a discussion about reverts & such? I don't want us to get in trouble, lol. 2600:1702:2A40:3E40:DD81:2EAA:8E4A:13D5 (talk) 01:05, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- I am enjoying this discussion too. It is always great to meet new people on Wikipedia. This discussion is taking place on my talk page so it is 100% fine to talk about other things. The only time that this would be an issue is if it was on an article talk page or something like that. I doubt I will see the Elvis movie either, even though I am a big fan of the director (Baz Luhrmann). I would imagine that it is something the film would have to address, but I would not be totally surprised if they tried to minimize it as much as possible. Feel free to message me anytime! No Panties and TFA
[edit]I saw somewhere a comment, possibly by you, opining that "No Panties" may be a little too racy for the main page. In November I scheduled "Fuck the Millennium" as a TFA, fifteen years after its promotion to FA. If there was a peep of disquiet over this it didn't get passed on to me. So I think that you can get it into Requests without any qualms. Gog the Mild (talk) 20:33, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response. That is a good point. I just wanted to make sure before putting it up for a potential TFA in the future. Aoba47 (talk) 20:58, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the revert
[edit]Thank you for being smart enough to figure out that those spaces were intentional! I think it depends who taught you typing whether you like one or two spaces at the end of each sentence; I've always used two, and it's a reflex now -- I'm much too old to change. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 11:02, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for the message. It is always nice to learn something new, and I think it is important for Wikipedia to have these stylistic differences. No reason to change, and I will be more mindful about this in the future. Aoba47 (talk) 19:33, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for beginning your review. I found a Google Books source that includes a short review and background of Tim Jacobus's cover art. Would that be worth adding to the article? SL93 (talk) 04:19, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

- I'm sorry for not correctly saying my comment at the AfD. I meant to add it, but I'm sure me being upset didn't help. SL93 (talk) 19:30, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- It is okay. I have been guilty of editing when I was upset too so you are not alone with that. For those instances, I would honestly recommend walking away from Wikipedia for some time to clear your head. I have taken things way too personally in the past, but I have always found some distance and perspective to be helpful. Best of luck with everything! Aoba47 (talk) 19:46, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

Natina Reed
[edit]This is probably stupid, but I wanted to run this by you and let your decide. In Natina Reed's article, it's stated that some of her lines are incorrectly attributed to Gabrielle Union. The article itself states that one of this lines is "Let's beat these Buffys down" (iconic). But in the movie itself, the line is actually "Can we just beat these Buffys down?". Do you think it should be changed to what the actual line is, keep it the same but add a note about what the original line is, or leave it as is since that's what the article states (which also implies that the line itself is more recognizable in it's incorrect format; similarly to how people say "Luke, I am your father", despite the actual line being "No, I am your father")? --PanagiotisZois (talk) 16:46, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
- @PanagiotisZois: Thank you for the message, and I do not think that is a stupid question. The Buffy quote was frequently repeated in the coverage on Reed's role in Bring It On (at least the correct version) so I would say that the correct version should be in the article. I think this is different than the Star Wars example as that one has been more widely popularized. I have been thinking about rewriting the Natina Reed article, but I just do not have the time for it right now. Feel free to ask me anything by the way. You can feel free to change the quote in article, or I would be more than happy to do so later today when I have the time. I hope you are doing well and staying safe! Aoba47 (talk) 18:50, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
- I decided to change it now. Thank you again for the message. Aoba47 (talk) 19:00, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

I just finished with all of my presentations for this semester and just have my portfolio to finish and submit next week; thankfully, the whole fam is healthy and safe. Hope everything is going well with you too. --PanagiotisZois (talk) 00:46, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

That is really what matters the most. I am doing well, thank you. TFA
[edit]in friendship |

Thank you today for The Beautician and the Beast, for some romance on the MP, introduced: "What do you get when you put the lead from The Nanny and a James Bond in a 1990s romantic comedy? Well, if you have ever asked yourself this (oddly specific) question, you would get this film. It is about a New York City beautician who falls in love with a Eastern European dictator after being hired to tutor his four children. The film received primarily negative reviews, and was a box-office bomb, grossing roughly $11.5 million against a production budget of $16 million."! - Happy Valentine's! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:03, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
