Hi Anna, I just wanted to let you know, I edited my article. Can it be accepted? Thanks, Icyball13. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Icyball13 (talk • contribs) 22:04, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hello, Icyball13. I am not an expert in this field, but to me it appears that you have indeed found one edited publication which has written about your videos. However, Wikipedia policies require several such articles. Also, you have somehow duplicated all of the content in the article; you should remove the surplus text. With just one reliable source, this draft isn't even close to meeting Wikipedia's notability for film/video content (WP:NOTFILM) or web content (WP:WEBCRIT). If I were to accept it, it would be deleted by other editors almost right away. If you feel that the videos can meet one of these criteria, then by all means continue to improve your submission; if not, it may be too soon for a Wikipedia article about this topic. —Anne Delong (talk) 01:20, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Moved here. There are still some problems.
- I can't see how it meets the company or film notability guidelines. Looks like non-notable company. No sales figures, staff numbers, turnover etc to suggest otherwise.
- Although you provide references, many, such as the interviews are not independent verifiable sources, and because they are not in-line, we can't see what fact each is supporting. Neither references nor external links is intended to be a dump for every mention you can find
- Although there are only two lines of text, they are written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic.
As it stands, I would speedy as non-notable even if the copyright and spam were fixed Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:57, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

I'm sorry, Anne, but your decision to approve this article for creation was wrong. There was a reason why this article was deleted via AfD four times, and this version you have approved does nothing whatsoever to address the concerns that caused any or all of the four AfD results. I have marked it for speedy deletion under GS4 for this reason. The tool you used doesn't have the feel for what counts as notable in professional wrestling. Thanks 124.180.170.151 (talk) 21:59, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
- Dear 124.180.170.151: Will you please take the time to direct me to the notability policy for Professional Wrestling so that I will be able to make a better decision next time? What would this woman have to accomplish to have an article written about her? I thought being written up in the Sunday Morning Herald and the Daily Telegraph, plus new information about 2013 events made the article substantially improved. I even went to the trouble to ask an admin to check to make sure that the article was substantially different from the deleted version. All those links to her profile were added after my last edit. —Anne Delong (talk) 22:50, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
- The articles included don't prove notability. They only prove she exists. The MOS for pro wrestling is located at WP:PW. The reality is that the article - whilst differently done - has the exact same issues that caused all four of the AfD delete decisions. Winning the SHIMMER championship for example is not enough for notability by itself. She needs much more coverage than that and in the case of female wrestlers it is actually quite difficult to gain notability without working for WWE or TNA. Not impossible of course, but extremely difficult. I can assure you that if this went back to AfD it would be deleted again. The reality is that she has done nothing of note in professional wrestling. That was the reason why the base article was salted, and this new article doesn't address it. 124.180.170.151 (talk) 02:29, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
- Additional - I've removed The Bleacher Report reference, as that is listed as unreliable. The SMH and Telegraph articles are both promotional only - especially the latter one - but I'll leave them because they are used for statistical information only which can be substituted easily. I'm about to send it to AfD now. 124.180.170.151 (talk) 02:38, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
- I found the list of reliable and unreliable sources at the bottom of the MOS page. Thanks - I may find that useful in the future. —Anne Delong (talk) 03:40, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Jim Parsley
Hi Anne, I noticed that you commented on an entry I'm authoring for approval and I want you to know I appreciate your input. i am new to this so any help is great. You mentioned a lack of independent sources. I admit I have had difficulty finding news and magazine articles but my list of sources does include 2 books (by the same author Greg Fielden) "NASCAR Chronicles" and "Forty Years of Stock Car Racing" as well as 2 Reading Eagle (Reading, PA) news articles. Most of the other references I used were online references. If you can suggest anything, I will try to find more. I also noticed that you are considering adding Jim to your Motorsports article - that would be wonderful.
Also I thought you might be interested in this YouTube video which shows the crash at Daytona in 1960 that is mentioned in my article. rfsc019 MSM 37 car pile up Daytona 1960 - YouTube
Jim's car #70 is seen being towed away at the end of that video. Thanks again for you help.BobBOrlando (talk) 16:22, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
Hello, BobBOrlando. I am not a motorsport fan, and so I don't have access to those books. Do they have a paragraph or more about Mr. Parsley, or is his name just mentioned on a list? Also, I don't have a Motorsports article, so I'm not sure what you mean about adding him. If you would like to recruit some help with this article, a good idea would be to post a message at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Motorsport where you will find friendly racing enthusiasts who will know where to look for references. I did add one, but I am a musician, and my idea of a vehicle is one that will carry my upright bass.
Since Mr. Parsley has passed Wikipedia's notability test, the article is sure to be accepted soon. In the mean time, maybe you can use the information in those books you have to improve other racing articles. (Watch out, it's addictive!) —Anne Delong (talk) 17:15, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi Anne, Jim is just listed in some charts in those books - unfortunately there are no paragraphs about him. With respect to the article I mentiond I looked at it again and I guess maybe you brought the article to the attention of "motor sports experts" and I guess someone named bushranger, who has also done some editing on my submission, was recommending it for consideration on the Motorsports page. Western Wisconsin Woodland Period (Archaeology)
Hi, Anne Delong. I put a {{db-afc}} tag on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Western Wisconsin Woodland Period (Archaeology). If you're interested in the submission, you should probably pull that tag off before it gets deleted.
Regarding copyright of the source document, it's not clear to me whether it's a government publication, though it includes the words "US Army Reserve Command" on the title page. It's not marked "©", but neither does it carry any license information or release from copyright. It might be self-published, in which case I think it is presumed to be protected by copyright – but I'm far from expert on these things. By the way, User:Rjhowell111 is likely Ryan J. Howell, the author of the manuscript. I'm not sure how that complicates the picture, but I think Wikimedia would need a release from Howell if he owns the copyright, and Rjhowell111 hasn't edited since he put up that AfC in September. I believe congratulations are in order...
It's a little premature, but unless you somehow replace the main page with a huge picture of your own face in the next few hours I think your adminship is pretty much a shoe-in... so congratulations on a very successful RFA, and do feel free to bug me for advice if you need it in the next couple of weeks. Your request for adminship
Hi Anne Delong, I have closed your request for adminship as successful. Congratulations on the unanimity of your request and your place on WP:RFX100! As always, the administrators' reading list is worth a read and the new admin school is most certainly available if you feel that you might require some practice with the tools in a safe environment prior to applying them elsewhere. Restore an AfC
Hi Anne, can you restore Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Powersport Institute AfC draft which has been deleted a month ago per G13. But the institution is notable and maybe WP:RS are available. So, can you restore it since you have those tools now. :) Jim Carter (talk) 07:36, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
Hello again, Jim. Unfortunately, I can't restore that page because a lot of the text was copied from HERE or other sites about this organization. However, there were some references included. I don't know if they are reliable or not (you can check them yourself), but here they are:
- "PowerSport Institute Overhauls Motorcycle Rev Up My HarleyCompetition,The Motor Cyclist, Ohio, 26 August 2010.
- "The PowerSport Institute Named S&S Factory Training Center,The Motor Cyclist, Ohio, 13 December 2010.
- "PowerSport Institute Offers American V-Twin Program,Hot Bike-The Custom Motorcycle Magazine Ohio, 26 July 2010.
Maybe you can use these to make a fresh page. —Anne Delong (talk) 13:34, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, above references might help. Jim Carter (talk) 14:12, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
I guess notability would be yes as an academic per WP:NACADEMICS 2,3, & 8. We would also tag the talk page with the Robotics banner as he is high up in his area (Asia-Pacific), and a member of the local IEEE board.
He is not particularly notable for work in the field, though he is published both as an associate-writer and through papers and involved in path-planning at a reasonably high level. Details here seem ok and up to date Chaosdruid (talk) 16:19, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, Chaosdruid. I finally got around to fixing up this article and moving it to mainspace. It could likely use some TLC from someone who is more knowledgeable about robotics. My only experience is with the Logo turtle years ago. —Anne Delong (talk) 03:57, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Serguei Netessine
Hello Anne, I noticed your work on WikiProject Articles for creation and would like to ask for your advice: more than 4 weeks ago I submitted my article about a professor and educator — Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Serguei Netessine.
Could you please review my submission and accept it, if it meets Wikipedia:ACADEMIC (I believe it does). If not, I am ready to correct it in compliance with your feedback.
It is my first text for the "Articles for creation" section. So I hope that you can help me with it. —Alexandra Goncharik -sms- 13:24, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hello, Alexandra Goncharik. I have accepted the article. Sorry about the long delay; there are a lot of procedural changes going on in the Articles for Creation process right now, and it's slowing down the reviewing. The article could use some more references that are not from organizations with which he's connected; it's at risk of being tagged for having too many primary sources. —Anne Delong (talk) 17:31, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- Dear Anne, thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate your work on this WikiProject, I know that it requires a lot of time and efforts. I will try to improve my articles (this one and my future submissions). —Alexandra Goncharik -sms- 20:07, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

- Thanks, Hordaland. I don't like to see good work wasted. The only problem is, the small capacity still left in my limited memory is rapidly being filled with random information from these drafts. I just hope I don't run out and forget where I live.
- I have a few more HERE that I haven't had time to work on, but they're mostly not medical. If you see one you like, feel free to take it off my hands. —Anne Delong (talk) 21:02, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

History merges
After reading WP:HISTMERGE, what I did (for practice) was created a couple subpages in my userspace, and practiced with them. This case would be pretty easy to do, the process would be:
- Move AFC draft to Dnyaneshwar Mulay (check the delete box when it asks to confirm deletion)
- Go to the history tab
- Click on xxx deleted revisions when viewing the history of the main space article
Select the revisions you want to restore (I would probably stop at 21:46, 19 September 2012, as that is where the substantial revisions end), and then click restore revisions- Select "invert selection" and restore all the deleted (from the mainspace article) revisions.
Make sure the "live version" is the latest version that was in article space- Revert back to the latest article space revision (the latest revision showing the AfD template).
That is a relatively simple one, doing history splits is a little more difficult. If you want I can do this now for you (now that I have actually looked into it a little more) or you can do it. --kelapstick(bainuu) 14:14, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Some changes here, I see I mixed a few things up...--kelapstick(bainuu) 17:37, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, kelapstick, I will try this, but I think I will wait until the AfD closes. —Anne Delong (talk) 17:54, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- No problem, let me know if you need any help with it. --kelapstick(bainuu) 17:56, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

- Hello, Emily. I see that you like to work on music album articles. Here are three drafts that could use some improvement before being moved to mainspace. Mainly they need some references to news reports, album reviews, etc., or the ones that are there made into citations.
- Wikipedia_talk:Articles for creation/Bruja (album)
- Wikipedia_talk:Articles for creation/Characters (Freak Neil Inc album)
- Wikipedia_talk:Articles for creation/The Coming Ones (Sa Dingding album)
If one of these strikes your fancy, feel free to work on it. Happy editing! —Anne Delong (talk) 16:14, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
No thanks, I don't know much about those topics and plus, I'm not very interested in music any more. EmilyREditor (talk) 01:22, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
Anne, I specialize in record labels. This may be notable, as the label has relased albums by multiple notable artists. How do I prevent this from being deleted? Not my type of music at all, but no one else seems to be working on it. Thanks! 78.26 (I'm no IP, talk to me!) 18:28, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
Hi 78.26. I have postponed deletion for six months by adding an "AfC postpone G13|1" template. However, any edit will do to prevent a draft from being nominated for deletion automatically. Any editor can still nominate it unless it has a less-than-six-months-old postpone template or an edit that actually improves the draft within that time period.
By the way, here are some others that I have "postponed" but haven't had time to work on:
- Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Infinity Cat Recordings
- Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/In At the Deep End Records
- Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Jason Wilson (record producer)
- Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Loma Vista Recordings
- Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Decon Records
- Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Haldern Pop Recordings
- Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Independent Label Market
and perepherally:
- Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Dan Austin (Producer/Engineer)
- Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Producer Chris Young
- Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Dan Austin (Producer/Engineer)
Pick out any that catch your interest... —Anne Delong (talk) 19:03, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry for such slow reply. Thanks for these, and the one you left on my talk page. I will finish the Byrne article, and then make reviewing these my next top priority. They appear to be bleeding-edge marginally notable, so it may take some time. 78.26 (I'm no IP, talk to me!) 12:44, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, 78.26. Some may of course become more notable with time, but if you see any that are no longer producing and you feel aren't likely ever to be notable, let me know so that I won't keep postponing deletion. —Anne Delong (talk) 12:57, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

I reverted your G13, and revised & accepted the article: there's a corresponding frWP article, and I think we need to expand, not delete, our articles on the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers & its network. I've put the whole thing on my list. In the time I spend dealing with various dubiously accreddited business schools, I could better work on things like this. DGG ( talk ) 05:07, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
- That's okay with me, DGG. I had recently been told that individual schools within a college or university are not separately notable unless they pass general notability. —Anne Delong (talk) 09:23, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
- Not usually, but first-order divisions of a major university can very often be notable enough for separate articles. In any case, the French system has been traditionally different than the US, with a few very large consolidated institutions. It's more comparable to SUNY, or University of California, where the individual parts are notable--though for UCm once upon a time they were mere branch campuses. The french word "ecole" can be equivalent to not just "school", but to "university", or "college" DGG ( talk ) 20:22, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
- Since G13's are just deleted because no one is showing an interest, of course I have no objection to any article that you want to revive. I have a couple of pages in mind that I may resuscitate and work on one day. —Anne Delong (talk) 21:17, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

TY for attention to Paul Julian deletion matter
Your timely attention is appreciated. Salvaging worthwhile articles destined for the dustbin is, for me, a sideline, and I cannot give it much time. When interrupted, the economics rapidly make the work untenable. Pleaae check the article in the next day or so, and you will see a draft far superior to the one that was rejected the last two submissions. Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 22:55, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
- Paul Julian article has been resubmitted for approval. Have a look, and thanks in advance for your attention. (Approve if you can; my comments regarding the earlier rejections have to do with AGF, and acknowledging expertise—that rejecting / deleting edits and admins would hold themselves to higher standards of rigour and analysis that they currently do). For the contrary example, skim the RHaworth Talk. Cheers. Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 01:00, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

- The I will have to begin reading a bit more about mandolins. I married a Virginian, and so it is part of warp and woof of family. Cheers. By the by, Rankersbo reversed his decision, after understanding he had re-reviewed the earlier 3-bad-citations draft, and so the PRJ article is back in queue. Have a look some time at this, part of the reviewing I did before submitting: [3]. I do hope the current version is good enough to proceed. Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 15:38, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

I have the expertise
…to assist with the peptide article should you so choose. Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 00:32, 24 May 2014 (UTC)
- Go ahead if you feel like it; it was submitted accidentally when I fixed a formatting error that had been hiding the submission template. I can't do anything with it, so I put out a call at WikiProject Biology, but that was just earlier today, so no reply yet. It needs more references and also to be understandable to a non-expert if possible. None of these articles are mine; any editor can work on anything he/she wants. —Anne Delong (talk) 05:11, 24 May 2014 (UTC)
- If you haven't personal or friendly interest in the article (are not working on it to assist a friend or colleague), then I will have a look, but will likely ultimately pass. The PRJ experience is a cautionary about moving too far from expertise, and it may end up as another mare's next. On first inspection it appears to be a topic that should not proceed. The only way that a peptide fragment should become an article, is if it has tremendous bioactivity (and therefore a significant secondary research literature). That is, it has to be a molecule under study as a drug, or a chemical tool, and not just a peptide fragment of a large protein. I will have a look, but it is likely not noteworthy enough to proceed. (Thought I would offer to help you with it, as you took initiative to help me with JRJ, had you substantial interest). Cheers. Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 15:43, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for checking this out, Leprof 7272. I have been checking out old abandoned drafts and bringing them to the attention of appropriate Wikiprojects. I have no personal interest in them; I'm just helping to match up drafts with willing editors. Often one is declared non-notable or too badly written to be worth fixing, and then it is deleted using dg-g13. I have looked at many thousands of these drafts, and there are about 100 new ones every day, so it's rare that I have time to become attached to any particular one. If you think that this peptide is unlikely to be notable, I will go on to more promising subjects. Thanks again. —Anne Delong (talk) 16:09, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
- Will look and respond here. If you know any reasonable admins whose attention can similarly be called to the PRJ submission, so I can get this off my plate, I'd be eternally grateful. (Not a bit of hyperbole, and not quid pro quo, either.) Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 16:21, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
- Well, I did leave a message at WP:WikiProject Meteorology, but my messages are general. You may want to leave a short message asking something specific, of look in the discussions and participation list for an active meteorologist. —Anne Delong (talk) 16:31, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

Edit summary
Hello, Ms. Delong.
I have something makes me feel burdensome. I created imperfect edit summaries on my old revisions in page here and here. Please edit those edit summaries with the right wiki markup. For this edit summary, please change a administrator into an administrator.
Thanks for before and after responding this question.
Relly Komaruzaman | Talk 05:16, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
- Good day, Relly Komaruzaman. Unfortunately, the edit summaries cannot be changed. Knowing this, though, everyone is very forgiving of typing, spelling and grammar errors in the summaries. In the case where important information has been omitted or the summary is misleading, you can make a dummy edit and add an additional summary with a correction. This only makes sense if it's done right away so that it is the next edit on the list. I am sorry; I know that this is frustrating - I am a poor typist, so I've made quite a few such errors in my own edit summaries. —Anne Delong (talk) 10:32, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
- What a relief. Thanks for the explanation. I can't control my perfectionism when I know what I did on my creations. Have a good day, Ms. Delong.

Please consider avoiding
… sending anything to RH concerning any content matter expert, or new user. I have no respect for his treatment of people—simply look through his last few Talk pages (more than last, for he gets them out of sight quickly). I personally wish never to be involved with him on an article/editing basis. (Thankfully, he seems to be solely involved in deleting things, and not in content generation, so our paths will rarely cross.) To date, he hasn't been, but I have watched repeatedly as he as berated editors, deleted articles on the upwind, etc. etc. I have seen him be repeatedly insulting, especially to new editors, content experts, and anyone not playing the Wiki game his way. Per his User page, he appears to revel in the negative persona he has created. His response to your request for review of the PRJ page is case in point. Note, the much more equitable Rankersbo has already corrected his earlier own rejection, based on review of the wrong version. No, RH should be kept quite clear of this, or he will likely reject out of spite. My opinion. Your call. Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 18:09, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

I made one attempt to delete, and was reverted. If you think that the article, while improved, is still about a non-notable person, I would suggest that you AFD it. Thank you for trying to keep Wikipedia free of non-notable biographies of living persons. Robert McClenon (talk) 19:24, 28 May 2014 (UTC)

If the article is still there next week I will see what condition it is in then. It will be interesting to be on the other end of the stick, after I helped rescue Madison Eagles. —Anne Delong (talk) 20:20, 28 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi. I've deleted these two responses of yours at the Teahouse. Becoming a reviewer
Greetings.
I see that you are involved in WikiProject Articles for creation. I would like to become a reviewer, of articles such as those listed here, and have a question about the process of becoming a reviewer. But I can't figure out where to ask it. Wikipedia:WikiProject_Articles_for_creation/Participants has a conspicuous "Ask us a question!" link, which leads to [4], which makes it clear that it is the wrong place. Maproom (talk) 23:04, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Maproom. That was the right place, if you are asking about the project. The big banner is to discourage hundreds of new users asking why their pages were declined. I think that it shouldn't lead to a new section, though, because if you could see the other discussion on the page you could tell that it's the right place. Anyway, you need 3 months on Wikipedia and 500 edits. Then you add yourself to the participants list HERE. To make life easier, you should go to Preferences and get the helper script under "Gadgets". Sorry, I have to visit my sister now, so that's all I can say. Bye... —Anne Delong (talk) 00:49, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you! You have also answered the question I was going to ask, "do I just add my own name to the list?". Maproom (talk) 07:34, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

Haier India
I am arun3000h and I created an article for Haier India on my sandbox and submitted it for approval. However, it was denied due to Copyright Infringement. I have to revamp the whole article and write it again, please help me with what should be the right steps from here to do the same. Do I need to start fresh or if there is a way I can work on the previous article itself?
- Dear Arun3000h: I spent an hour trying to find something to send to you to restart the page. After removing the material that I knew for sure was copied from press releases and web sites, what was left was mainly material which was obviously written to promote the company and its products, rather than just neutral facts. There would be no point in including this, since it would need to be totally rewritten anyway. I can only conclude that either you must be closely connected with the company and wanting to make this article as advertising, or else the remaining text may have come from pre-existing company brochures, etc. I have started a page for you at User:Arun3000h/Haier India with the small amount I could find, plus the references (although these seem to me to be mainly quotes and reprints from company press releases as well).
- Please remember that Wikipedia articles are for general information only, and do not reinsert any product claims, praise, mission statements, or any other promotional material or opinions, because the article will not be accepted if this type of text is included. —Anne Delong (talk) 12:26, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
Hi Anne,
Thank you for your feedback and providing the link. I have updated the same with much less and referenced data. Kindly review the first draft at https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Arun3000h/Haier_India#Haier_India . Let me know if this is good to go.

Category:Candidates for speedy deletion as abandoned AfC submissions
Anne, I'm fairly confused as to why you deleted the administrative maintenance category Category:Candidates for speedy deletion as abandoned AfC submissions. That's not deletable per G13 (your cited reason for deletion), and would require a strong consensus to delete at WP:CfD in order to be deletable. Please restore this category, I'm sure it was just an accident or a misunderstanding and that you meant no harm to the project. :) — {{U|Technical 13}} (e • t • c) 22:28, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- I see you've already restored it noting it was an accidental deletion. Please feel free to disregard this inquiry. :) — {{U|Technical 13}} (e • t • c) 22:31, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Technical 13, you are right, I accidentally somehow pressed the backarrow on my browser while attempting to delete one of the G13 eligible pages. I realized it right away because I always check the "What links here" after deletion, and I undeleted it as quickly as my slow typing would allow, and in fact before I saw your post. I appreciate that you notified me, anyway, though, just in case. If you know of any problems that the category's short absence may have caused, please let me know, since it's likely that you have done more work with categories than I have. —Anne Delong (talk) 23:25, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Hello, Noodleki. The article isn't ready to be submitted for two reasons (1) Wikipedia doesn't have an article about every military person; the standards for inclusion are here: WP:SOLDIER. Your article doesn't explain why he should be in an encyclopedia, either by meeting the military guidleline, or the general guideline WP:GNG. For example, in what way was he a pioneer? What are the known facts in the "spy" controversy? (2) Once you have added to the article facts showing that he meets the notability guidelines, your references should be moved so that they support particular facts, especially controversial ones or "claims to fame". —Anne Delong (talk) 18:06, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Metropolis Rugby Club Article?
Hi Anne, I'm trying to grasp why the Metropolis Rugby Club Article was deleted for Copyright infringements and Notability Guidelines.
So yes, I'm going to pick on one of Metropolis's foes, OMBAC, or Old Mission Beach Athletic Club to help me understand the differences. If I correctly understand the Notability Guidelines, an organization is generally considered notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. Trivial or incidental coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not sufficient to establish notability. All content must be verifiable. If no independent, third-party, reliable sources can be found on a topic, then Wikipedia should not have an article on it.
Well, OMBACs members had to have crafted and recorded their clubs history not unlike Metropolis, thru hand written journals provided by Old Boys or retired players. My question then is How is their non verifiable content accepted and ours then denied? As a matter of fact here is a bit of History, OMBAC was founded in 1966, and Metropolis thru the merger of 2 clubs, can trace its founding back before 60s, BUT that would be added later when those Articles are written and then linked.
My second point involves copyright infringements, again I'm going to pick on OMBAC, If you go to OMBACs website and look at their History and compare it to their Wikipedia Articles History you have the same copy, word for word. So why are the same rules for copyright infringements applied differently in identical cases?
My point is that both teams have a very rich history in the formation and the modern growth of the sport of rugby here in the states, and both have to rely on present non-active club members such as myself, to record this history from hand written journals of the past... there are no third party sources, i.e. newspapers did not cover rugby back in the 60's, websites were not around until what the late 90's and references i.e. encyclopedias may cover what rugby is but they certainly did not cover the history of USA rugby clubs.
Thank you for time, and I look forward to hearing what you have to say. Akabluey (talk) 05:57, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
- Dear Akabluey: I'm sorry that you have run into problems with your rugby club draft article. I know nothing at all about rugby; I nominated the draft strictly on the copyright issue. I see that you have already had a reply from another editor about the same issue in the article about the rival team, so I won't discuss them here.
- Wikipedia has special sports guidelines for inclusion of articles about Rugby Union teams. You can find them HERE. You will be able to tell better than I whether your favourite team passes these guidelines. If not, they will need to pass the general notability requirements that you have quoted above. In either case, though, the text on the club's web site is clearly marked as copyright, so you would need to write about the club in your own words and not use any of that text.
- As I said, I am not a rugby expert, but are you sure that there was no coverage of rugby in newspapers in the 1960's, not even results of matches between professional teams, national and international championships, etc.? Also, I have noticed that historical information sometimes appears in news articles years later when a team has an anniversary or when a famous player from the team is in the news.
- There is no getting around the copyright issue; however, if you want to try again to make an article in your own words, I would suggest that you ask for some help from the sports fans at WP:WikiProject Rugby union by posting on their talk page HERE. —Anne Delong (talk) 10:14, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
Thank you Anna, that's all that we were looking for, an understanding of the rules. Essentially you can break the copyright infringements if ya copy from your approved Article and dump that copy onto your website.
Again thank you for your time. Akabluey (talk) 15:04, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
- Akabluey, thanks for being understanding about Wikipedia's policies. There is one more thing: When text is written for Wikipedia, it is licensed to be used, changed and even sold anywhere (that's why we can't just include organizations' web site text - they might get really testy about what is done with their carefully crafted words). However, as part of the license, the text is supposed to be accompanied by a notice crediting Wikipedia, which is now the copyright holder. The club might not want that either. Really, the best thing is for Wikipedia to have a neutrally worded article, and for a club to have its own separate text - in which they are free to add promotions, tell funny stories, praise their favourite players, etc., which wouldn't be acceptable in an encyclopedia article. Anyway, good luck, and I hope that you will continue to improve Wikipedia. —Anne Delong (talk) 15:47, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
Draft:Jay-P
AlexanderGee (talk) 09:12, 15 June 2014 (UTC) Hi Anne, i think the article on Jay-P that you declined recently is fine except that it needs more more third party references like magazine or news paper articles. At this point, the references i put are the best and most relevant. I will keep adding more credible references as they show up and work to make the entire article better. I think the other issues were addressed. Kindly advise. AlexanderGee (talk) 09:12, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
Hello, AlexanderGee. The draft you have been working on still contains a lot of opinion, rather than just facts. It's not appropriate for a Wikipedia article to tell readers, for instance, that someone is "a campus in use to plough the music ground", or "a new breed of Ugandan music acts who live in the midst of a global village". The section discussing his albums seems to be saying in a round-about way (which Wikipedia editors call "weasel words") that his music is available through online download but not in CD format - so the article should just say that, instead of adding commentary about the general situation of music marketing. I removed a sentence which was copied from a web site, for copyright reasons.
A lot of the information is sourced to a web address at http://musiclifer56.blogspot.ca, which is a personal blog, perhaps of a fan, and not the web site of a publication or a professional music reviewer as is implied in the article. The opinions of this person shouldn't be in the article, any more than yours or mine should.
I would also like to point out that the reference on New Vision to the "Save Power, Save Money" campaign doesn't make mention of Jay-P, so it's not a useful source. He may be in the photo, but if so he is not identified by a caption.
From the looks of the references you have gathered so far, it may be that Jay-P is not yet well known enough to meet either our notability guidelines at Wikipedia:Notability (music) or the general criteria at WP:GNG, in which case it would be best not to resubmit until more reliable, independent sources (news reports, professional reviews, magazine articles, etc.) are written about him. —Anne Delong (talk) 13:41, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
Hello Anne, thanks for the advice, I will definitely keep that in mind as i look for more reliable sources and improve the article.I think you misunderstood this "His understanding of past music seems to be a campus in use to plough the music ground" as compared to what you indicate "that someone is "a campus in use to plough the music ground. I think the two are different. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AlexanderGee (talk • contribs) 16:59, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- You're right, AlexanderGee, it doesn't make any sense to me at all, and it not an objective fact, just flowery language to promote the musician. That sort of thing should be on the musician's web site, not in an encyclopedia. By the way, don't forget to sign your posts by typing four tildes (~}. —Anne Delong (talk) 22:27, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

You did my references! Thank you :)
Hi Anne, thank you so much for sorting our my references on the Blacklane article. I'd just sat down to get to that and saw that it was already done. I'm a rookie at this, so I'm going to brush up on how to do it anyway so that I can do it myself next time :) Best Reconnamon (talk) 06:25, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Reconnamon. There is likely more work to do on the references anyway. I just used an automated tool called Reflinks, which searches the web pages for titles and sometimes publishers. It's a quick fix, and saves copying or typing the titles manually. It only finds the information that the webmasters have taken the time to enter, so it doesn't usually pick up finer detail such as the author of an article or the date of publication. Sometimes the titles chosen by the web creators aren't informative (such as "Article #56") and need to be changed. Good luck with your article. —Anne Delong (talk) 06:38, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

- Sure, Harmelodix, any time, especially for a fellow music lover. I am not always on line, though, so if you need an answer in a hurry the Teahouse is better, because there are multiple editors watching for new questions. Dear Anne. Would you be kind enough to review this new unreviewed article for me so that it does not get unfairly deleted: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Broken_Hearts_%26_Madmen
Best regards Roger Carlofantom (talk) 18:02, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Carlofantom. Please read what I have written about the references for the Gypsy song below. Also, please remember that the article has to be neutral, so check your quotes from critics against the Wikipedia:Cherrypicking essay. The reference to that review written by yourself on Amazon should be removed - firstly, customer reviews on a sales site (which in any case has a vested interest in promoting sales) are not considered to be professional reviews (no editorial oversight), and secondly, quoting your own opinions is a no-no in any case. —Anne Delong (talk) 03:13, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
Gender reference-related query
Have a stray question, and have no idea of whom or where it might be best asked. I will ask it of you; feel free ask anyone else you think worthwhile.
I am looking for an adjectival form to replace "manmade", to use regularly in its place where gender neutrality is accurate and so demanded. The context is science, and relates to what, 50-100 years ago might have been called "manmade compounds".
The most oft used way around this has been to say "synthetic", but this is inaccurate, because naturally derived compounds are also synthetic—biosynthetic, we say. Using this in conjunction with "natural" sets up a false dichotomy.
There are many ways around the problem that are verbose, and that would, for a sentence like this, require its restructuring:
"A steroid is a natural or manmade chemical compound with a unique shape resulting from a characteristic edge-to-edge arrangement of four carbon-containing rings joined to one another. These cycloalkane rings..."
I am search for a one word replacement, and am disposed against "human-made" and "anthropogenic" as misderived and, in the case of the latter, further having its poor derivation associated with nefariousness.
Any thoughts? Clearly, not the most important problem in the world, but still... Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 22:34, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- Dear Leprof. The only adjective that would seem to suggest itself here is "artificial". Carlofantom (talk) 23:49, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Dear Anne. Would you be kind enough to review another new, unreviewed article for me so that it does not get unfairly deleted: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/The_Gypsy%27s_Wife
Best regards Roger Carlofantom (talk) 06:11, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hello, Carlofantom. As much as I admire Leonard Cohen's son-writing, if I review this page now I will have to slap tags all over it. The references are mostly not independent (musician or recording company sites) or not reliable (user-contributed sites such as Youtube}. The newspaper article doesn't mention the song. These should be replaced wherever possible with references to news articles, concert and album reviews, magazine articles, etc. which rovide information about the song. Maybe some of these will help:

I have removed the song lyrics because that is a clear copyright violation; I know that other web sites put them up, but Wikipedia tries very hard to follow the copyright laws. The large blockquote of Leonard Cohen's words may be a copyright violation as well (see WP:COPYQUOTE); please consider removing or shortening and rewriting in your own words. I am not an expert in this area, so if you leave it in I will report it at WP:Copyright problems and see what the legal experts think.
This is likely not what you were hoping when you asked for my help; sorry.... —Anne Delong (talk) 02:41, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

Alfred Kidney
I was lucky to spot the British Newspaper Archive notice just in time. I'm sorry you missed out – you've done so much to help AFC submissions and maybe BNA could be a benefit for this. I've got my account working and searched for "Alfred Kidney" (just the string, nothing fancy). I only get nine hits and, of these, only two seem likely to be the right person. One a mention of him singing in a concert in Newport (almost certainly Newport-on-Tay) in March 1911. He's also mentioned as part of a "musical and dramatic entertainment" for the Tayside Women's Suffrage Society in October 1912. You can do searches for free if you try but you only see snippets unless you are subscribed. Anyway, I'd be happy to email you the pdf pages if you like and any other such things. The T&C don't stop this sort of sharing but the accounts themselves cannot be shared. Best wishes. Thincat (talk) 11:01, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
- Dear Thincat: I would be grateful if you could e-mail those two PDFs. There was also an article Thursday 09 March 1911, in the Dundee Courier, Angus, Scotland, of which I couldn't read enough, but thought that it might be the right person because my Toronto newspaper source said that he performed in Scotland and Ireland. —Anne Delong (talk) 11:35, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
- The article you mention is the first of my two. I'll email you. Thincat (talk) 11:43, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

- Mmm. I've now found him doing two concerts near Dundee in 1910 as "A. Kidney" and the search won't distinguish from "a kidney" (!) and so gives far too many hits. Thincat (talk) 12:48, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
- Dear Thincat: I have successfully downloaded the two scans that you posted for me. I hadn't used filecloud before, so it took me a little while to figure out how to do it - the download link was off screen (stupid 16:9 screen ratio, but it seems that's all you can get these days). I'm not sure that there is enough information to conclude for sure that this is the same singer, so I think I will just keep them for now until I find some other intermediate information linking the Toronto singer with Dundee. I don't want to accidentally create a "Frankenstein"! Thanks very much for taking the time to send this to me. —Anne Delong (talk) 21:56, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
