You may want to look-in on this request. I rather expect that there will be some overlap with the impersonators of me from the Grawp case; i.e. this may be more of one of the groups you saw. Cheers, Jack Merridew 09:13, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Can you take a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Michael L. Vincent please? The socks are coming thick and fast, all similar account name construction too. Thanks! One Night In Hackney303 23:01, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Checkusah Green Green

Alison, I think you are doing a great job with checkuser (sorry if I said this before). Checkuser really is a difficult and stressful job, because the IP can be from the same provider and have different ending (i.e. 45.65.34.03 versus 45.65.54.37 [sample IPs]). Anyway, this message is in green, b/c I will be attempting to take a month long break in March. So, this is a "Happy St. Patrick's Day Message" in combination, too.

Later, and don't get too drunk liek teh kitteh! :-P

Ah yes, St. Paddy's day. The one day each year when everyone pretends they have an Irish ancestor. There's also a "leap" St. Paddy's day too you know? There's every four years in theory just like normal leap years, but they don't always happen at four year intervals. The last one on record was in 1994, when England failed to qualify for the world cup and Ireland did, it was astonishing how many English people suddenly claimed Irish ancestry.... AN/I thread and checkuser results

Hi Alison. In response to your checkuser findings at this AN/I thread, I blocked a number of named accounts, but now I'm worried that I misinterpreted your statement. When you have a minute, would you mind looking at the thread? I assumed that your confirmation applied to all named editors, including Gregg Potts (talk · contribs), but on reflection he's claiming to be framed and I wanted to double-check which accounts, exactly, were tied by technical evidence so I don't make (or persist in making) a horrible mistake. Thanks - MastCell Talk 17:19, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Really quick, MastCell (as I just woke up), the checkuser findings explicitly did not include Gregg Potts (talk · contribs) and he is quite Red X Unrelated to the other accounts - Alison 17:25, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
I normally wouldn't undo another admin's block without asking but in this case, I've gone ahead and unblocked rather than leave this any longer than it is. Oops! - Alison 17:37, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Oh snap. Looks like I owe someone a sizable apology. Sorry for misreading, and thanks for clearing it up. MastCell Talk 17:53, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Hey, I hate to keep bugging you about this, but Wasfou514 (talk · contribs) is also stating that he's unrelated. I read the clarification to suggest that all named accounts except Gregg Potts were involved. Could I ask you to take one more look at the total list of names on the AN/I thread to make sure I'm on the same page? Sorry for making a mess of this. MastCell Talk 22:51, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Oops again! This editor was never mentioned as having been one of the sockers - I should have been clearer. I've unblocked now and apologized to the editor. Sorry about all the mess - Alison 00:56, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
I blame the fool on ANI that initially said "socks" instead of "SPAs", it was them that caused all this.... One Night In Hackney303 01:02, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Heh!! :) - Alison 01:07, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Argh. No, it's entirely my fault. Sorry for causing so much confusion and extra work. I'll apologize to Wasfou as well, and I'll try not to get in the way next time. I think I looked at it before I had any coffee this morning. Thanks for helping clean up the mess I made. :( MastCell Talk 01:09, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Ron Duvall et al.

Hi, I see that you did the original checkuser on Ron Duvall and friends. Could you have a look at Thespian Seagull (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)? It's a new account that seems suspiciously experienced (his first edit was to create the page Wikipedia:Is wikidrama bad?) and whose interests overlap significantly with Ron's. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 20:42, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

The evidence certainly seems overwhelming. Checking so, and  Confirmed. Also Take You There (talk · contribs) - Alison 21:16, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick turnaround! They are now blocked. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 21:28, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Chiming in, I independently spotted Take You There this morning and noted that they were a probable sock, but I decided to give them more time to really prove it. Good call. Jehochman Talk 01:29, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

"déanta"

I see "déanta" in your signature. I don't read Irish, but would like to know what it means, and how it is pronounced. (I also don't read IPA, but will try to struggle through it if that is the best way for you to present the pronunciation.) Thank you, ៛ Bielle (talk) 23:14, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. It's not really part of my sig but is the equivalent of  Done in the Irish language. I'm hopeless at IPA, unfortunately, but can tell you that the first part of the word is pronounced "day" , and the word is like "day-uhn-tah" - Alison 00:57, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

RFB?

In the light of an emphasized need for bureaucrats I would like to nominate you to become bureaucrat as I believe you are very well qualified. Alexfusco5 02:05, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Only, not if it would be more stress than it's worth. As it is, every time I see your sig it is a ray of light and makes me feel better about whatever is being commented on. You are doing good work(s) in other areas and I worry about the bureaucrat == burnout angle. Wishing the best and appreciating the rest! Shenme (talk) 05:25, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Awww - thank you so much, Shenme :) I'm glad I'm doing something right! Thank you sooo much. And, BTW, you're absolutely right about Bureaucrat - I haven't the bandwidth for the job right now and besides, I know for a fact that I'd prolly not make the grade. There are too many people, for many reasons, would dearly love my sysop bit as it is!! :O That way lies burnout. Thank you so much for your kind words, too :) - Alison 06:20, 2 March 2008 (UTC) (warm fuzzies)
Alex, thank you so much for nominating me for bureaucrat. I'm really sorry, but I cannot accept at this time. I'm not nearly long enough as admin here and my duties as admin on various wikis and checkuser on here keep me really, really busy. I am honoured, though, and thank you for your kind offer. May I suggest you look at the current crop of RfB candidates as there are two or three running right now that I heartily endorse and you may find them to be candidates you might support instead - Alison 06:17, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Anytime keep up the good work Alexfusco5 14:47, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Reddyb

Ah, so ya got him.... Actually, he was the cause of the one and only time I have resorted to calling someone a muppet on Wikipedia. (In my defence, I like to think of it as "engaging on a personal level using a shared vernacular expression in an attempt to direct activities in a more positive direction", although, he was really annoying me.) :O) FlowerpotmaN·(t) 04:53, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I've been dealing with him for ... years one here. As it's common knowledge and previously published on-wiki, I can tell you that he's a fellow-countryman and ex-Trinners head. Bit of a nuisance, really, on account of the fact that he actually thinks he's being funny. He's about as 'funny' as Pat the Plank is - Alison 06:14, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Apologies

Timothymurphy (talk) 12:38, 3 March 2008 (UTC) hello alison i joined wikipedia yesterday and was clumsily experimenting with how things are done. i deleted a comma from the ireland article, and later went back to undo this but you had already got there. i just want to apologise for the bother to you. my contributions from now on will be constructive and have a point - best wishes Timothymurphy (talk) 12:38, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Timothy, you have absolutely nothing to apologize for. While making test edits to articles is kinda frowned upon, something as trivial as yours is nothing to be concerned about. On the contrary, it's good that you're having a go and checking things out! Welcome to Wikipedia - it's good to have you on-board as an editor and if there's anything you need or you have any questions - just give me a shout! - Alison 19:53, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Checkuser on Jamiechef2

Thanks for your help on this issue, you found a number of his sockpuppets I hadn't even seen. I'll try to clean up what he did but it might take me a bit to work on it. M1rth (talk) 20:33, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Can I add one more to check on? [1] This diff indicates one more at work, potentially. Thanks, M1rth (talk) 20:43, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, that one's already been  Confirmed - Alison 22:47, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Didn't know

I can contact a few at ED and see if they will refactor the stuff they have posted on you if you want. I think I already know what their response will be, but I am more than willing to give it a try.--MONGO 20:13, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, MONGO, and I really appreciate the kind offer. However, it'll only come back again, as you know. I do however, appreciate the fact that they have naïvely linked to my website, where I have full access to all incoming HTTP-REFERER headers and IP addresses. That particular dose of lulz ... is on me ;) - Alison 20:17, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Would you consider protecting this? I was working hard to undo the damage Jamiechef2 and his sockpuppets had caused, but now I have a bunch of (presumably well-meaning but ill-informed) editors trying to put the POV-push stuff right back in under automation. M1rth (talk) 22:43, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Declined - I'd rather not, if you don't mind, as disruption on that article is now largely stopped thanks to the checkuser findings. The editor that reverted you just now has since reverted themselves. Let me know if things get any worse and I can take another look - Alison 22:49, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Will do. Thanks for looking in on it. M1rth (talk) 22:51, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Tiamut and Gilabrand went right back at it. I've created Talk:Falafel/Workshop for them to play on, would you mind protecting the article for a few days till they get it out of their system? Thanks, M1rth (talk) 13:28, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Done - let me know when they've come to some sort of resolution - Alison 15:57, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm a little sad that Gwen Gale got to the page before you and put the problem section back in, but whatever - hopefully they'll calm down. I'll monitor the workshop though it seems unlikely (from viewing their contrib histories) that Tiamut/Gale will do anything there with their preferred version on the page. Thanks again for your help. M1rth (talk) 16:33, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
I think this was likely the most helpful thing to do for now. Gwen Gale (talk) 16:30, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
There may be some misunderstanding. I was asked only today by Tiamut to help mediate there and was unaware anyone had asked for page protection. I restored the sourced history section only as a starting point for discussion, thinking more sources to balance the section would show up soon. I would not have touched the article if I had known it was about to be protected, I don't favour any version, I'm neutral. If it would help, please feel free to revert the protected page to the version before my edit. I do think it's so sad an article about food had to be politicized. Gwen Gale (talk) 16:58, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for understanding, Gwen. Alison, would you mind? M1rth (talk) 17:21, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Ummm - I'm not supposed to do that. Can you place an {{editprotected}} message on the talk page, explaining the rationale, and I'll do it immediately? - Alison 17:26, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

{{editprotected}} Template has now been added to Talk:Falafel, thanks very much for your assistance in this. M1rth (talk) 17:42, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

your edit to my page

You edited and removed some content off my userpage. I understand your reasoning to do so, but it states in the rule you provided in your summary (and I quote):

"The Wikipedia community generally frowns upon simulating the MediaWiki interface, and it should be avoided except when necessary for testing purposes."

This means that it's not the best format, but it is allowed. The page I linked that content to was properly labeled as a joke page. Please consult with someone, administrator or not, before changing someones userpage or anything in it. It is considered bad etiquette to do that to other people. I appreciate it.

Hi, is it possible to ask you not to use the word Troling in your edit summaries here. It is a derogative term and should not be applied to a user unless absolutely necessary. I mean we can just say SOAP. Thank you, Igor Berger (talk) 02:45, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Apart from the misspelling, it's a lot shorter than typing, "reverting repeated personal attacks from an anonymous individual who is gaming the system by IP hopping while posting nasty comments about a retired editor on multiple messageboards, including the LGBT group" - sorry, but that sounds like trolling to me, and the appellation is absolutely justified in this context - Alison 02:49, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Why doesn't someone archive the AN thread for starters? It won't automatically archive due to the constant nonsense probably. Just sayin'... One Night In Hackney303 02:52, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Sorry for the spelling typo. Well there are real Trolls out there. But we should not feed them by calling them trolls. What do you think? Igor Berger (talk) 02:55, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
I think reverting their edits does it for me. What do you think? - Alison 02:56, 6 March 2008 (UTC) (spelling typo was all mine, BTW)
Well do not feed them too much otherwise they will get fat and morph into socks and vandals. Then you will have to block them because if not, they will game the system and take over Wikipedia. We will have to call it WikiTrollHeaven..:) Igor Berger (talk) 03:06, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
I fail to see how the current troll could morph into anything much worse. Have you seen the history of AN for the past few days? One Night In Hackney303 03:07, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Suggest adding protection to the Foundation for Family and Life page

Ip address 78.142.135.176 had done multiple edits to the page, which I was unable to revert with just the undo button (I had to go back to the edit history of the page).

The page has been subject to multiple edits within the past week. How would I go about adding a lock on the page? Or requesting it? --Lukeydukey (talk) 04:23, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. As I've protected it already, the best thing to do at this point is pop over to Requests for Page Protection and ask another admin to examine the situation. It's pretty easy to fill out the form there & if you need a hand, I can help! - Alison 05:46, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Sock Request

Alison, can you check these two out if possible? I am not sure how long since the last edit IP information is stored, ive not requested a check user in quite a while so i dont know all the ins and outs.

I blocked mrlob and alot of his socks a while ago after a botched RFA meatpuppet vote stacking incident i stumbled upon. This new editor is editing in a very similar pattern and many of the same articles. Is it possible to determine if angela is a reincarnation of mrlob?

Thanks, Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 20:14, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh, btw here is a link to the oringial check user case [[2]] Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 20:16, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Chris, a quick check shows mayhem and trouble & this needs to go to RFCU due to the extent of this & that we'll need to track the socks/damage. Can you file a case under Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Kermanshahi and mark it for my attention and I'll run the full check immediately? Thanks - Alison 00:29, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
I spotted User:Angela from the Blue earlier today and was quite sure they were up to no good and inquired whether this was another sock of User:Boomgaylove (which may have been a false lead). I am glad you are on the case. Jehochman Talk 00:31, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Yep , ill file it now. sorry for the delay! Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 03:28, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you again! Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 05:25, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Alison User:Angela from the Blue originally came from User:86.89.146.118. I have been cleaning up her mess for a few days now. Do you want to be the admin alerted if this sock causes trouble again? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:59, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes, please! If there's anything I can help out with, just let me know - Alison 08:10, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
I now see you had already figured out that IP number! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:50, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
I am still pretty sure, even though checkuser did not show it, that angela from the blue is Mrlob. an IP tagged to the orignial Mrlob case WHOIS traces to the same ISP in the netherlands as the ip referenced above. Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 17:19, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

banned editor

Hi Alison. Thanks for trying to protect Planck units from the banned editor. However, you accidentally reverted to his own edit. The recent edits are not by him and he would be enjoying a little laugh to himself at our expense. I restored my own edit. Thanks. Lucretius (talk) 22:24, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi again Alison. Please have another look at the situation. The banned editor was masquerading as 207.something (I forget the other digits). His last edit was many, many edits ago. The recents editors (myself and Truthnlove) have been working patiently to rewrite aspects of the article since then. Your changes have restored most of the banned editor's edit, which is doing his work for him. Please restore to my last edit. Thanks. Lucretius (talk) 22:34, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

I've replied on your talk page now - Alison 22:44, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Holy smoke! Two banned editors working simultaneously on the one article? The other is r b-j and I thought he was the one you meant. He was making edits as an anonymous number. I'll edit out the linear equations, which was the main contribution by Truthnlove. The rest is mine. But I'm not sure if I can now revert your last edit. What a mess.Lucretius (talk) 22:53, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

All of a sudden it seems like Truthnlove has been wiped out of wiki-existence! What did the user get banned for? Why did Template:Theory of everything get removed just because the user got banned? Why is the user page and user talk page also deleted? Remy B (talk) 03:12, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, they largely have been wiped out of existence. Truthnlove is a banned editor; about as banned as they get, really. Without going into too much details, Jimmy Wales referred to this person by saying they were "remarkably unwelcome". See Wikipedia:List of banned users#Amorrow for more details - Alison 03:18, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Wow. Fair enough then. Remy B (talk) 03:26, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi there Husond. That's a rather phenomenally obvious example of disruptive votestacking and sock-puppetry. I'll run a check - Alison 21:20, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

hi Alison!

hope you're good... it's nice to be able to say hello 'on-wiki', having seen you around various forums and pages in the last little while.....

I've been trying to drum up support for Wikipedia:NotTheWikipediaWeekly which, if you'll follow that page, you'll see has so far had one skype-based 'round table' chat - and I was wondering if you'd be interested in joining a 'real life' conversation at some point? It's very easy, takes less than an hour, and it'd be great to get your views on a variety of wiki issues.

Do pop by that page, and drop me a note if you've got any questions at all...

cheers, Privatemusings (talk) 00:45, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

no no, thank you! (being british, one simply has to respond to such a note - please feel free to not thank me again, which will solicit another demure refusal to accept thanks... I'm sure you know the routine!!) - it'd be great to get you involved at some point, so I hope you like what you hear / see so far! best, Privatemusings (talk) 09:19, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Hm, that's weird. On the other hand, he didn't do it entirely right, having failed to place the AfD tag on the article, but that has now been fixed. Risker (talk) 04:44, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Yup. They were never checked after the checkuser was done, and the case just ended up getting archived. How weird! I've gone ahead and blocked that account now - Alison 04:49, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Apparently abuse of ForeverFreeSpeech (talk · contribs) by Jersyko

Please see [3]:

Apparently, after making this edit, Jersyko then took it on himself to indef-ban ForeverFreeSpeech (talk · contribs) despite the user's obviously being the recipient of a large amount of WP:BITE behavior. Attempts to dialog with Jersyko and let him see that jumping straight to an indef-block was too harsh are not going well.

I'm asking you to take a look since, unlike many admins I've met, you seem to have a level head. I've left a supportive note on the user's talk page but twice before they've been abused by Yamla, who seems to take no time investigating unblock requests and has a frighteningly low record of unblocks (in fact, I'm having trouble finding even one). M1rth (talk) 17:48, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Please see also: this. Found another spot where Jersyko got into a content dispute with FFS. I'm ashamed at what I'm seeing on wikipedia. M1rth (talk) 18:12, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Alison, just a heads-up that this block and related issues have been raised at AN/I. MastCell Talk 18:44, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
damn, Mastcell beat me to the inform :) M1rth (talk) 18:46, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

I really must lodge a protest: see [4]. ChrisO blanked the page, then JzG redirected and locked it. This appears to be hiding the evidence and blatantly designed to prevent the user their right to appeal. M1rth (talk) 22:08, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi M1rth. I'm not ignoring you here, but am dealing with another fairly serious issue right now. I'll check back over this in a while and see what I can do here. I've no idea as to the background, though, so I'll be working from cold. Just give me a while here - Alison 22:12, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Please do look. There's a tremendous amount of piling-on going on, the blocking administrator was involved in at least two content disputes with the user, and admins blanking and then locking/redirecting the page while it is being discussed smacks of trying to hide the evidence. I am scared of being retaliated upon for even bringing it up, though I wouldn't have felt right watching this abusive behavior happen and not saying something about it. M1rth (talk) 22:16, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but I think the block was quite warranted, coming off a block for trouble, he starts attacking every one [5] (rvt per it's there in the article dumbass), [6] ( I doubt Abbasshole was speaking hebrew)), and other brilliant summaries like.. (undo hizbullshit) and (undo hamasshole). SirFozzie (talk) 22:24, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

SirFozzie... all but one of those was BEFORE his previous block. The only one that's after the block is the PETA one above. I don't think you are paying particular attention to the case before making a rather untoward pronouncement. It looks much more to me like he has improved (though not as much as some people would like) and that Jersyko, who is a regular contributor to the Obama articles, decided to get rid of someone who edited in something Jersyko didn't like seeing about Obama. M1rth (talk) 22:32, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Nope, I understand the situation. Editwarrior, abusive summaries, etcetera (not to mention the probability he is a banned user). The only one contesting this block is you.. think about why that is. SirFozzie (talk) 22:33, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Because I'm willing to WP:AGF and you're not, SirFozzie. Also, Alison, please be advised I now understand completely why someone can get adversarial... I'm feeling quite threatened after this claiming a false consensus. M1rth (talk) 22:46, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Now there's irony. Claims that he assumes Good Faith while I don't... then he assumes bad faith that I'm threatening him by warning him about canvassing (admin/forum shopping). I'll leave it alone, Ali, but thanks, M1rth.. needed a chuckle to end my week. SirFozzie (talk) 22:49, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Let's see... I have admins trying to hide the evidence and make it harder for people to read the pages where things are going on, I've already caught you in one definite false statement above, you're making bald-faced accusations about the user being a return of someone based on accusations from a poisonous POV pusher, and then you leave something that under the circumstances looks a whole hell of a lot like a threat. What am I supposed to think, that you're a perfectly good-faith tuna sandwich? M1rth (talk) 22:52, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Clean slate?

If an anonymous user was blocked for vandalism, a week has elapsed, and they have begun vandalizing again, do you consider them to have a clean slate as far as new warnings are concerned? I would like your wise and expert opinion on this matter, because it is something I think about frequently. Thanks. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 20:20, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

That largely depends. If it's a high-volume shared IP, like a college or business, then it may possibly be someone else altogether. If it's a domestic IP, esp a DSL or cable one, it may well still be them still, in which case I'd think repeated offender. If it's a short-lease IP like AOL, then it could be anyone, really - Alison 21:34, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
And if it's a BT IP, it's probably David Lauder according to some rumblings.... One Night In Hackney303 21:36, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Hhrrrrmmmmmm... well, I am no wiser than when I started. Thanks, though. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 02:29, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Bugger all like normal? It'll be a while yet, I haven't even scanned them and I'd need to rig my scanner up too before I can do that. One Night In Hackney303 21:53, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Obviously you're not busy enough, based on the speed of that block! One Night In Hackney303 00:15, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Suffice to say...

my experience today on Wikipedia has severely lessened my enthusiasm and trust in the project. M1rth (talk) 06:02, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm really sorry that things went a little weird. Don't give up on the project, though. I was way impressed with your handling of the POV-war that broke out on the food articles last week. I apologize for not diving into your own issue earlier but a serious matter had come up that needed to be dealt with. In retrospect, I can see what went wrong in your case and if you want me to, I can go into it in detail if you like. But the block of your account was a bit uncalled-for and I said as much on ANI. Really sorry :( - Alison 06:07, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to know your perspective, so long as it isn't violating my agreement with AGK to follow up on that offer. I don't see where on ANI you actually said my block was uncalled-for, though... the only diff I can find is this one. M1rth (talk) 06:35, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

That was basically where. I couldn't intervene as I was technically involved. Either ways, and this is more political than anything else, you went head-to-head with one of the least forgiving admins on the project; User:JzG, and things spiraled from there. Finally, one of the most forgiving admins (User:AGK) unblocked you. The first four words you uttered on ANI were inappropriate from the get-go, and set the tone for everyone else; "Jersyko is absolutely bloodthirsty". After that, people were immediately bound to disagree and find you as being unreasonable. Your initial disagreement regarding the block length of FFS was lost in the ensuing mayhem. And, BTW, I think an indef block was too long, too. However, you were dismissive of sane, sober admins like User:ChrisO and User:SirFozzie. FFS deserved a block as his edit summaries were abusive and he was not about to stop anytime soon. People started commenting about FFS possibly being a sock of a certain banned editor. However, Guy was observing the goings-on here between yourself and Foz and saw an opportunity to block you for a personal attack and applied a block. He was wrong about the target of your personal attack and his block was ostensibly a "cooling-off block", which are disallowed anyway. In short: bad approach, things were getting out of control, a hard-nosed admin stepped in and you were blocked awfully early. Then you were unblocked. It was a bad chain of circumstances, really. At some point, when people were disagreeing with you, it would have been prudent to step back, evaluate everyone's points, and step up again with a different perspective but ... well. - Alison 06:56, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Funny I was extended no courtesy at all, nor any consideration under the actual policies... well, I've learned quite a few things today, especially concerning whether the rules mean anything at all in relation to the behavior of administrators. I stand corrected about any former optimism I may have had. M1rth (talk) 07:40, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Kudos!

Hirsi Ali problems again

Hi Alison, I suspect the vandal of some time ago is back on the Hirsi Ali page in the form of a new sockpuppet (Zencv this time). The user consistently removes the tag "human rights activist" from the article and keeps adding the unreferenced statement that Hirsi's prizes come from "right wing parties in USA and Europe" (quod non). Can you take a look? Thanks! Tomixdf (talk) 13:38, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

I was about to ask the same thing, but I see Tom beat me to it. On the talk page, using the words "holy name" is something Leaveout used and the creation of several topics on the talk page is another thing Leaveout did. See Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Leaveout for the past discussion. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 15:53, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, I tried.

Tiamut (talk · contribs) and Jd2718 (talk · contribs), despite my attempts to keep the food articles neutral following the Jamiechef2 problems, insist on attacking the mediator. If you have any advice that would be appreciated, but since Tiamut continues to edit-war and try to misrepresent sources, and Jd continues to try to act as a proxy to re-enter the edits by Jamiechef2, I'm at a loss. I'm about to send them both warnings about Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Palestine-Israel_articles. M1rth (talk) 16:20, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Dude

An editor has nominated Dude, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dude and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:01, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

My request for bureaucratship

User:Yilloslime

Hello Alison.
I just wanted to bring User:Yilloslime to your attention.
He is not a habitual vandal fighter, but if you look at his contributions, you will see that he does revert a fairly large amount of vandalism and always leaves very descriptive (imho, almost too descriptive, if you know what I mean) edit summaries when he undoes vandalism. Although he does not always remember to leave warnings on the vandals' talk pages, he clearly has a very good grasp of what constitutes vandalism. I think he would benefit greatly from having rollback rights.
He did not ask me to ask you for rollback. I do not know if he even knows what rollback is. (Until User:Acalamari gave me rollback, I didn't know it existed, let alone what it is) I asked you to give it to him because if I was an admin, I would give it to him myself. I think that he would use rollback very effectively, and would not abuse it.
Thanks for your time.

I hope that I meet the expectations of you and the community, it was only today I realised that there are only 12 active 'crats for English Wikipedia. Wow. Another Vandal using IP puppets

Hello, again! There are multiple IP addresses vandalizing this article. All the IP addresses keep adding the same comment in the "milestones" section that state, "2007 Obese officer, Salvatore Rivieri, berates and assaults 14-year-old for calling him 'dude.' " They have also been warned of the actions. The IP addresses are: 62.150.44.208, 62.150.202.47, and 213.189.93.209 are the ones that I have been able to link together. Thanks!--Sallicio 00:29, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Surf's up, dudes!

Hi all. I've just come back from an awesome weekend, sun-tanningburning in Santa Cruz and I'm totally chilled out. Very little Wiki happened over the weekend, so I'm playing catch-up today. I promise I'll deal with the comments above when I get some breathing space here, but for the moment, I'm editing articles! Wheeee - Alison 00:38, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

That was the same storm, Sir Fozzie. The drifts from the pond up to the back deck are that high; the deck around the house is somewhat protected which is why the snow is only 2 feet deep on the deck. On the other hand, no one has to shovel the pond. Oh well, by June it will all be melted. (And, APK, wait until summer, unless you are a skier.) ៛ Bielle (talk) 03:52, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Technical enquiry

Hey Alison. It came up on an IRC discussion, that you are a Macintosh user, and probably have an IRC client that is compatible with Mac OS X. As a freshly-switched Mac newbie, I'm struggling to find an IRC client that:

  • Is decent
  • Is free (and not just for 14 days or what-not)
  • Supports a "start-up" list: that is, is able to execute a list of commands (e.g., /ns identify..) upon start-up.
  • Obviously, runs on Mac.

Thoughts? Any help would be appreciated ;)
AGK (contact) 20:21, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Anthony. Personally, I like Colloquy as it's simple enough, is open source and does everything I want it to do. It runs natively on Intel OS X and also does all the things you want it to do above. Check it out! - Alison 05:49, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Reply for Miranda: yeah, I tried that, but didn't really find anything I liked :) Then again, I'm using Colloquy, which has just been recommended, so perhaps I should have paid closer attention to that :) For Alison: as I just said, I'm using that, but couldn't find the "start-up commands" list... Perhaps I'm just not looking hard enough ;P Well, I'll rifle through the documentation, and try and get it working. BAN/ADMINS

Hi, I would like to file a complaint for wrongfully being banned and accused of being someone who I'm not. You and Kilen or Kilana banned me (Shikab) by accusing me of being sockpuppet of Khmpalak which was completely wrong. What proof do you or your the other person has that I am khmpalak?

Either proof it or apologize and give me my rights back unless you will be embarassed like your other buddy and delete my message and have me banned again in order for others not to notice it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Afghania (talkcontribs) 14:02, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Well .... where to start?

I just want to thank everyone - I can't possibly reply to everybody :) - for being so loving and supportive over the last few days. I said what I had to say and left for a few days, just to get some breathing space. I'd actually been thinking seriously about leaving over the last few weeks, as the unwanted attentions from certain people and the pressures of the current ArbCom case were beginning to wear me down. I truly wasn't expecting the kind of responses that came flooding in. I really don't know what to say. I've archived everything, my original message and all your responses, as well as a message to others at the top, at User:Alison/Depression. As I said, I hope others in a similar situation can read this, understand it, and take some comfort from it all.

Love you all, friends :)

From one to another

I've recently read it suggested that you might have felt that I "must be annoyed at (you) for picking up the Alison nick on enwiki". Could I just say you were fully welcome to it! Indeed, I didn't even look for it as 'AlisonW' is what I have used all over the place for many years as I know so so many Alison's IRL so use the W at all times - in addition to a 'nom de plume' which, of course, you know about as do many others (Kato is right, it isn't a 'secret' per se, I just try to not the two get written on the same webpage together) and is all quite above board, albeit reading the comments is providing me with a lot of amusement at the moment ;-P Nor, btw, will SUL annoy me at all and I'd happy to let you have meta:User:Alison on meta: right now if you would like it (and ask nicely) as at the time I registered that protective nick you weren't using User:Alison yourself and protection is a good thing™ (unlike meta:User:Alison is a douchebag lol). Keep up the good work. --AlisonW (talk) 23:59, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

RFCU

Random things I noticed while looking at your various pages and subpages....

1) In your sandbox

For your boilerplate warning(s), are you familiar with "{{<includeonly>SUBST:</includeonly>BASEPAGENAME}}"?

2) On your talk page

In the header where it says "Please sign (~~~~) before you save. Beware SineBot!", I think you should say "Beware of SineBot" because what you have now, imho, sounds like you are telling SineBot to beware.

3) Also on your talk page

imho, the HTML-comment "To Vandals" warning on my userpage is more eyecatching, but you can (obviously) do what you want. (I did not make that huge "to vandals" thingy. I stole borrowed it from User:Milk's Favorite Cookie.)

My brief attempt to sound philosophical

This next part really doesn't have much to do with anything, but I do a lot of vandalism reversion and I often see you block people I have reported to AIV. I also frequently encounter you when I hit alt-shift-x because I am bored. I have noticed your mannerisms and the technique you have with all your administrator duties and contributions in general, and I must say that you yourself fill one of two necessary roles that admins on this project must have. Basically, in my view, the optimal situation would be to have only two admins on Wikipedia: One who uses somewhat sarcastic, rather blunt, brute force. This is necessary because, let's face it, people are jerks, and sometimes the only way to fight a jerk is by being a jerk yourself. The other role that is needed is someone who is kind and compassionate, maintaining composure even under withering fire. This admin would always be nice to everyone no matter what has happened and no matter what anyone has done. You fit the second role like a key fits a lock. If I had known about RfA when you went up for RfA, I would have voted "Support" with all the vehemence I could muster through a keyboard. No matter what happens, please, never change the way you are. Our world desperately needs more people like you. Some say kindness and compassion are for the weak. Nothing could possibly be more untrue, and you prove that yourself. I read your /depression page and I cannot believe you were willing to put yourself up for admin recall even though no respected user had requested you to do that. If anyone says you are weak, do not listen to them. Having the personal strength to publicly say something like that is, well, amazing. There is NO way I would ever have had the guts to say something like that in such an open place as Wikipedia.

I'm sorry if all that seemed like I am trying to pussy up to you. That is not what my intention is. I think someone needs to tell you what you personally mean to this project. If Wikipedia decided to employ two people full-time as admins and get rid of all the other admins, I would try everything I could to get you hired as one of them. That is how much I respect you and your contributions. Thank you for serving Wikipedia so well.

A wee bit of a nagging concern

Alison, I have a slight concern about AtomAtom (talk · contribs). He creates a template in his first day, before voting for on an RfA, Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Biruitorul 2‎. Because of the immediate interest in Romanian nationalist stuff and the EU, there is at least an outside chance it is the banned Bonaparte (talk · contribs) (who incidentally likes to use open proxies), but at any rate it seems unlikely the user is new to wikipedia. I'm not sure there is enough data to go to Checkuser, but since he voted on an RfA I thought I'd at least bring the matter to your attention. It doesn't make me sad, it's just that - well, I love editing articles, too, and I've less and less time available to do that. Allegations of "Hate Speech"

What on earth did I say that was hateful? I was responding to someone who made the sweeping generalisation that mixed raced relationships were considered "acceptable now" by saying that not everyone feels that way and that that sort of lifestyle was not for me. I find it MORALLY WRONG. Not to mention unnatural (it takes a white man and white women to create a white child that is a FACT!), abnormal (it is not the norm as most people don't live that lifestyle) and if everyone engaged in that sort of behavior it would be the death of racial diversity. Apparently diversity is good unless its racial diversity and striving to retain it.

If God had only wanted one race, which is what would happen if everyone choosed a mixed race relationship, then he wouldn't have gone to the "trouble" of creating several different races. He would have just stopped at the White race, but he didn't he created all those others so he obviously favors diversity when it comes to race. Those are my opinions, I am entitled to them and expressing them is NOT "hate speech" just because it goes against the Godless agenda of liberalism. I thought liberals believed in moral relativalism, that we each have the right to decide for ourselves what is and isn't moral?

Well people are free to live as they please as long as it is legal. God has given us free will after all, but that doesn't mean that what they are doign is right or I have to jump on the miscegenation bandwagon just because that lifestyle is "cool" now. God's Word does not change. It is everlasting and I will choose a good Christian lifestyle over the latest immoral fad any day.

Lastly I mentioned what race I thought he looked like and I refrained from using any racial slurs, so there shouldn't have been a problem. I would appreciate it if you would stop harrassing me just for expressing a differing opinion of your own and persecuting me for holding traditional moral values. YourPTR! Text Size

Dear Alison:

You page is lovely to look at, but for anyone with eyes over 40 (or nearly 60, in my case) it is next to impossible to read. If there is something of interest to on it, I have to change all my other "size" settings to "giant" to read your page, and then all back again when I am finished. Perhaps you do this on purpose, which is, I would think your prerogative right up to the time you became an admin; then, readability becomes an issue for those who might need your Wiki services. Could I persuade you to choose the standard size of type to help those of us with less than perfect sight? Thank you for considering my request, whatever your answer. You must have amazing eyesight yourself to work with such tiny letters. ៛ Bielle (talk) 16:34, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, Bielle. To be honest, I'd not thought of that before, my own eyes having just reached 40 themselves :) I've increased the font-size on just about everything now; userpage and talk page. Let me know what you think now and if it's still too small, I can increase it some more. Sorry for that - Alison 17:56, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
This is embarrassing. While I greatly appreciate your efforts, I can see no change here on this talk page at all. (I do see a change on your user page, and I think the text at the very top of this page is larger, but what appears in this comments' section is still tiny, tiny.) Could the problem be with me or my computer? It seems so ungracious to continue to complain when you are obviously trying. What has been changed looks fine tome now. ៛ Bielle (talk) 18:05, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Ah. I think it's me, actually. One of the <DIV> tags isn't set properly. I'll look into it some more, as this is likely a problem for others, too. Let's see if I can fix it. Anyone else can have a go at User:Alison/Talkheader if they like :) - Alison 18:09, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
My spouse brought me a huge magnifying glass to use just on your page. If I knew anything about coding, I would try to help. I am, however, likely to make things worse. I appreciate your good intentions. ៛ Bielle (talk) 00:11, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Better? AGK § 22:33, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Better? With the magnifying glass, yes, though my arm gets tired if what I am reading or writing is long. (There may be a message there for me.) Does it look any different without the aid, no; it is still about 9 pt. type spread over 6 to 8 inches of width which is an almost impossible combination to read. I looked at the change you linked above, and it made sense, but I see nothing different on the page. Thanks for trying, though. ៛ Bielle (talk) 00:01, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

←There - it's huge now :) How's that? - Alison 00:05, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Dear, dear Alison! I can read it! I hate to tell you, but it isn't huge; it is, however, quite readable. It looks to me just about the same size as most talk pages. Is it now overwhelming for everyone else? I do appreciate this, and the efforts of all who tried to work out a solution. Now, of course, it will evolve that I need never again read your page or send you a message. However, someone else may also appreciate the courtesy. Thanks again. ៛ Bielle (talk) 00:12, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Excellent! I'm glad it's sorted, so. Chances are, if you've had problems with it, so have others. It's important that people can read the thing, so it stays big from here on in. Thanks for pointing it out! :) - Alison 00:15, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Layla27 sockpuppet case

Thank you for your checkuser admin. assistance in dealing with this persistent vandal. This is the worst case I've come across on Wikipedia. He has been doing this on and off since fall 2007 and is the sole reason pages relating to nuclear power et. al. are semi-protected. Do you think that this case has been bad enough, since this effectively blocks other users at that university as well, to submit to the higher-ups about trying to work with the university to track down and discipline the individual responsible as opposed to punishing the group? With all thoughts

Alison,

Just a short personal note from us all, so you know that everyone, from the new users you help, to administrators, to almost all on English Wikipedia, will miss you and wish you godspeed. Much sadness for one of the few Wikipedians for whom one might say there was/is communal love, rather than just respect or approval... and hoping it is temporary but understanding the impact of things, and why it's as it is.

This note is posted on behalf of all of us, in addition to any messages any have expressed in private; we know how much you would wish to avoid a circus of hundreds of messages, but we wanted to write something in public as well as individually in private, even whilst respecting your wish not to dwell upon it here. We want to be clear that respectful silence of many users does not mean lack of caring.

The help you have given to many users, freely and widely, is unlikely to ever be forgotten.

For and on behalf of Arbcom-l, and any and all of the following:

Blnguyen, Charles Matthews, David Gerard, Deskana, Dmcdevit, FayssalF, FloNight, Fred Bauder, FT2, Jayjg, Jdforrester, Jimbo Wales, Jpgordon, Kirill Lokshin, Mackensen, Kat Walsh, Sam Korn, Morven, Neutrality, Newyorkbrad, David Friedland, Rebecca, Paul August, Raul654, Sam Blacketer, Sannse, Sean Barrett, Theresa Knott, Thebainer, UninvitedCompany,

and the community as a whole,

FT2 (Talk | email) 00:09, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

I second the above thoughts. Whatever possible disagreement I may have had in the recent controversies, I think Alison is one of the "good guys" (or gals) and hope her departure is temporary. *Dan T.* (talk) 00:26, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Your health and safety is more important than any tool. If I had a choice, I would definitely go down this path. It's not the end of the world, you can still edit; and the sysop tools is just a conductor of drama, so there's no loss really. Maybe this will allow more time to do what this website is meant to do, give knowledge. Happy editing Allie :) —Dark (talk) 08:41, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, Thatcher. Let me look into that in detail later, when I get a quiet moment here. I suspect you may be right there - Alison 00:56, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Co-Admin Coach

Hi Alison, I noticed you have listed yourself as an admin coach. I am in the unique position that I am searching for a co-admin coach. My current coach, CattleGirl, has not been very active in the last few months and I want to continue my training. I already have a coaching page setup here. I think I am fairly far along and am almost ready for an RFA. If you are interested in helping me, please let me know. Thanks. KnightLago (talk) 19:31, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

I was actually coming by to try to get you to help out some people... there has been a surge in demand on Admin Coaches lately... but I like Knight's approach...Balloonman (talk) 06:03, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Now now

Don't you go getting all factual about Dev. Seen the main page? :) One Night In Hackney303 20:18, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Execllent!! Well done, sir! Chalk another one up, then. You should get some of those GA/DYK little sticky stars for your userpage ;) - Alison 20:30, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't think my userpage is wide enough ;) Plus I've always been too lazy to wade through about eighteen layers of transclusion to find the code that does it..... One Night In Hackney303 20:32, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Happy now? One Night In Hackney303 21:24, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
I am now :) - Alison 21:46, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
It's people like you that made me spend what seemed like three ice ages hunting down the code in the first place :) One Night In Hackney303 21:47, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Glad to be of service, sir! - Alison 21:48, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! And I'll have you know I was a multimedia computer programmer at the age of 19 without any formal training, so less of your VCR quips please. One Night In Hackney303 21:50, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
There's a joke on the tip of my tounge about how domestic it is for Ali to be cleaning up after you Hack.. But um.. (looks at the dual glare from both Ali and ONiH).. Um.. (takes a nervous step back).. Uh.. (takes another step back) never mind. (Grins, DUCKS, RUUUUUUUUUNNNS!) SirFozzie (talk) 22:42, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

g'day allie.....

I wonder if you've got any energy or enthusiasm for a 'real world' conversation about wikipedia / wikimedia stuff? - I've been trying to promote such ideas over at Wikipedia:NotTheWikipediaWeekly and would love to have you along, if you like the idea! - feel free to drop me a line if you've got any questions, or anything - and I hope that I might persuade you that it's a good thing to be part of! - best wishes, Privatemusings (talk) 02:42, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

A sad farewell

Having now been harassed by AGK, who decided that protecting POV-pushers was his goal, I'm going to quit.

In parting, I leave you the following: yet another Jamiechef2 sockpuppet. Since AGK threatened me with a permanent block if I continued to track these down, I might as well pass it to you anyways. Lord knows there's probably more out, plus this one's false-consensus edits and israeli-removal vandalism have yet to be undone since AGK is now its protector. Admin Coaching

Hi. I saw your username listed under active coaches, and I wondered if you would like to become my admin coach. I am listed under current requests. I made my first edit on March 7, 2006, and since have accumulated 1274 edits. Please contact me on my talk page. Thanks! :) — scetoaux (T/C) 18:57, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

my welcome

Thanks for your welcome Alison, though I’m not exactly a newbie on en.wiki; indeed, surfing through the english wiki pages I even found a couple of long-lasting vandalisms hidden in some rugby union-related pages (funnily enough, the most blatant of which lasted more 4 months before being unveiled ^___^), a thing that left me rather baffled as I have always supposed that - due to the wide range of English-speaking countries through the 24 timezones - there had always to be an admin with open eyes (not to mention rugby union spans on both emispheres, too!). Hope you’ll forgive me for my English and of course have time for a drink with me should you visit Rome (all in all I’m Italian ^__^). Thank you again. Sergio † BC™ (Write me!) 19:10, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
P.S. I still haven’t understood a thing: are you either a Brit living in California or a Scottish-(Irish?) American one?

gaWP

Hi, can I usurp the impostor ga:user:JzG please? It's holding up my single sign on. Thanks, Guy (Help!) 23:36, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Guy, go right ahead. I've gone and unblocked the account now and there's only one (vandalism!) edit on it, so you should be clear. If there are any issues, give me a shout and I'll ask the local 'crat to rename it ;) - Alison 00:45, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Can't seem to do it, partly because I don't read Gaelic. Please have it renamed, if you'd be so kind. Thanks, Guy (Help!) 14:49, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
I've left a request with the local 'crat and emailed him, too. It shouldn't take too long - he's a good guy :) - Alison 16:24, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks much. Guy (Help!) 20:32, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Your meta rename request

[11] Rename of m:User:Alison  Done Rename of m:User:Ali-oops to User:Alison  Not done

Since you've already started your SUL migration, you'll need to have a steward perform the rest of this. Please place your request at m:Steward requests/Usurpation‎. Don't worry, they won't bite. :) ~Kylu (u|t) 01:20, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Still can't do it, unfortunately, due to bug 13507. I've just ditched the old Ali-oops account and created a new one :) - Alison 20:44, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Fix your pix

Hey.. your icons got all scroobly big thanks to a bug in Wikipedia.. Just in case you miss it: A recent MediaWiki revision is responsible for many images not resizing correctly inside templates and infoboxes. These can usually be fixed by removing "px" from the image size parameter. See Wikipedia:ClickFix for more information. SirFozzie (talk) 02:29, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Hellllp! It's not working! - Alison 16:24, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Need any help with your VCR too? One Night In Hackney303 16:25, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Grrrrr!!! :-D - Alison 16:26, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Apparently, in this case , turnabout is not only fair play, but very very funny too! SirFozzie (talk) 16:31, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Nice work ;) This bug broke {{Drugbox}} this afternoon, and I had a bit of trouble fixing it... Fvasconcellos (t·c) 00:24, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

HI

I'm sorry what happened. I',m New to this edit, I hope to Edit new Articles about Computer Science and Computer Arithmetics. So Hope you give me help for these things. Good day.

No problem at all. Thanks for answering my request - Alison 16:25, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Big Hammy Checkuser Fists needed

Traditional Unionist updated a RfCU request with possible other sock puppets before his recent block for edit warring. One of the possible sock puppets is a person he was edit warring against. Could you look at it? (it's in the Completed requests of RfCU, which is likely why there's been no movement on it...) Wikipedia:RfCU#Draconiandeastroyer. Thanks. SirFozzie (talk) 16:44, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Quick question

Would a rangeblock on the IP ranged of the IPs listed here and in the history of mine and RepublicanJacobite‎'s talk pages be quite collateral damage causing? If so, can we just have semi-protection on both pages instead please? One Night In Hackney303 22:15, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

South African Patriot- Deleted article request

Hi could I ask a big favour? Please could you let me have a copy of deleted article South African Patriot together with deleted talkpage for that article. Thanks. Mark Hasker (talk) 15:41, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Irish Maritime. Above made me laugh but... Aatomic1 (talk) 23:04, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

(ec) lol - okay, that's absolutely classic stuff. Give that man a barnstar! I read it through twice and have to say, kinda felt guilty about deleting it in its finery. Maybe we need another WP:BJAODN :) - Alison 23:35, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Actually some hoaxes last up to eighteen months before some bright spark spots them! One Night In Hackney303 23:41, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for taking care of this. I wanted to report him for several things but I was on my way out the door. Beach drifter (talk) 02:04, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Heyo

I was going to leave you a greeting card featuring little Linguine (who is about to start his first shed since I have had him - exciting! But my computer is chucking a hissy fit, so all you get is little me. So HI ALI! ViridaeTalk 10:28, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Rollback Request

Hello Alison, I have discovered that the rollback feature is much more efficient for reverting vandalism, and I would like to ask you to grant me rollback priviliges. If you see me fit for rollback rights, please grant them to me... Thank you in advance. Limaye (talk) 00:32, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

HEY

Alison, you rock, I love your userpage and Talk page!--I am sooooo cool! 18:24, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for expressing an interest in coming along to the next conversation - if you click above you'll see that we've confirmed a new date and time, and have also created a new 'confirmed participants' section (sorry about the extra hoops to jump through - but hopefully it'll help us figure out if 'everyone's here'!) - if you do happen to be free at the suggested time, that's great! - I'll create the 'room' about 30mins early, as usual, and please do pop in as soon as possible so we can iron out the inevitable technical problems in time for a prompt-ish start! thanks, and I look forward to chatting tomorrow! best, Privatemusings (talk) 22:30, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
