Hi Alessandro57, there is this user Luc19 whose recent edits don't seem reliable. I tried to revert the edit from the beginning but can't due to the following edits he did. (N0n3up (talk) 00:16, 8 January 2015 (UTC))
- Hallo N0n3up, thanks for writing! Actually the Metropolitan city f Rome replaced since 1. of January the Province, so at a first glance I think that his edits are ok. I will take a deeper look now. Bye, Alex2006 (talk) 10:09, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks Alessandro and sorry to bother you again, but there is this user AureaVis who keeps re-adding a seemingly photoshoped image of the Milan cathedral on the Milan article. And the user didn't post his/her reasons in doing so. (N0n3up (talk) 16:32, 12 January 2015 (UTC))
- Hallo N0n3up, no problem, you are always welcome! I put Milan on my watchlist. BTW, I saw that this guy removed also the collage at Lecce substituting it with a particular of a bell tower...Quite strange indeed! Bye, Alex2006 (talk) 13:05, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

You are well known for edit wars alessandro57. Your reputation for creating discord and stacking users in your favor is well known. And though it is a rediculous thing- to keep changing a page and create an edit war which you started arbitrarily, I will submit for the sake of Wikipedia and the page itself. It is clear that you have a self serving agenda. 04:27, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
February 2015
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount and can lead to a block, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. Cpetty9979 (talk) 04:30, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Lavash
I don't think I have anything useful to add here. Just note what UNESCO itself says about entries in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity:
- Takes note that lavash is shared by communities in the region and beyond, recalls that inscription on the Representative List does not imply exclusivity and encourages the submitting State when implementing safeguarding measures to remain conscious of the element’s larger cultural context in the region;
- Recalls the importance of using vocabulary appropriate to the spirit of the Convention and avoiding expressions such as ‘unique’ and ‘original’.
That is, just because lavash is important in Armenian culture, doesn't mean it isn't important in other cultures, and it certainly says nothing about the origins of lavash (a subject about which I have no informed opinion). --Macrakis (talk) 14:30, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

Vatican City voting edit
Hi, You undid my edit on voting in the Vatican City and I don't think your reasoning is correct. Your reasoning: "Vatican is a state ruled by an absolute monarch, and neither men nor women have the right to vote". This is false. See the Wikipedia page for Vatican City, it states "The politics of Vatican City takes place in an absolute elective monarchy" the key word being elective. The Cardinals do vote and elect the head of state, and Cardinals can only be men under the structure of the Catholic Church. Citizenship here is not the issue, since citizenship in Vatican City is not required for choosing it's head of state. The issue is that only men are allowed to vote in the election, while women are specifically banned. It is important to consider the Vatican City State as an internationally recognized independent state here. I would consider moving my edit to a different place in the page, but I do think it is important information that needs to be in the article and have already considered my placement carefully. I will wait for your response before reverting my edit. I appreciate you leaving your reason on my talk page so we can discuss what is best. -Jon — Preceding unsigned comment added by Flessner89 (talk • contribs) 20:44, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Istanbul Pogrom
Dear Alessandro57 I am writing writing to you because I don't know how to access the talk page of the article on Uskudar, my only wish is that you remove the sender claim that women were raped. Because I was born in 1950 and have lived those terrible days. Yes Christians and Jews were attacked, their shops were lotted. But not their private homes. No women was raped. If the contributor insists o this claim he should please provide a reference. The only reference he is providing is the following:
Where in the book by The Mechanism of Catastrophe: The Turkish Pogrom of September 6-7, 1955, and the Destruction of the Greek Community of Istanbul, is there a mention of raped women? The contributor has an agenda. Just check his other contributions and you will see the pattern.
If this page is the wrong place for my comment please forward me to the right area. Thank you. 12:34, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

Translations
Hi, Alex, how are you? I hope you didn't mind my changing "desecrated" to "deconsecrated" without discussion – I realised that this was just a small error in translation, and took the liberty of fixing it on the spot. Do feel free to ping me if you find yourself in difficulty with similarly little-used words.
Apropos of translation: I noticed that although Santi Simone e Giuda, Rome, is apparently translated fairly closely from the it.wp page, there isn't any attribution of the source on the talk page. So I wondered if you'd simply forgotten, or if you just didn't know that the source for an interwiki translation needs to be acknowledged? The {{translated page}} template is handy for this. Perhaps in due course you could check other translations you have made to be sure that they too have attribution? Regards as always, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 13:05, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

question about Roma
Hello Alessandro57,
The reason why I'm writing you is because I saw you made significant contributions to Italian-related pages and are of Italian ancestry yourself. I was wondering whether you could ask me with this historical question regarding Roma. Do you perhaps know what Empire or Kingdom ruled Rome in 1688? This would help me alot with perfectionizing a recent article of mine which I want to nominate for GA-status in the very near future.
Regards and thanks in advance,
- LouisAragon (talk) 21:41, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
- Alessandro57, one more question. I need to add the coordinates of the Santa Maria della Scala to the infobox in that same article. [2] Do you perhaps have any idea or knowledge as how to put this? I think I will be able to nominate it very soon after I got that fixed. Would be great if you could help me with this. :)

Metropolitan cities
Mauro — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robur.q (talk • contribs) 12:17, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
- I will answer on the Talk page of Italy. Alex2006 (talk) 12:46, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
I partially agree with you: it is true that the metropolitan cities are the only official administrative subdivision, but they are quite inaccurate to describe the characteristics of a metropolitan area and they are misleading. For example the Commune of Bardonecchia is 85 km to Turin so it can not definitely considerated part of the metropolitan area of Turin as identified by the Osservatorio Demografico Territoriale del Piemonte of IRES Piemonte that is a an institution of the Regione . The metropolitan area has not an administrative signification, but has a demographic, social and economic significance. As the metropolitan city of Cagliari, actually there is only a bill that the Sardinian Regional Governament has presented few weeks ago. But the bill has to be discussed and (perhaps) approved by the Regional Parliament (the Consiglio Regionale). - Bazj, "architettonico" means in this case "used in architecture", i.e. construction industry. Moreover, I am afraid that your correction about Naples and Genoa is not right. In fact, Neapolitan refers here to the whole Kingdom of Naples, not just the city, and the same applies for Genoa (but not for Rome). Then I think that it is better to leave: Kingdom of Naples and Republic of Genoa. Cheeers.Alex2006 (talk) 16:00, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

Great work, Alex. I've copyedited the first paragraph of the "History" a little, please check if you think it works. Greetings and congratulations
Thank you for your efforts on bringing this article up to the standards that it takes for it to appear on the main page of Wikipedia in the "...did you know section". I've been involved in the DYK process, and so I know the time it takes and the coordination required between between editors...well it isn't always easy. So I appreciate your accomplishment. I hope you are encouraged to create even more content! Best Regards,

Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week for your diligence and skill. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project) |
Editor Bishonen submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:
I nominate User Alessandro57, an amazing content contributor who has been diligently and skilfully improving the encyclopedia since 2006, especially in the field of architecture. A few examples of his work: Santi Simone e Giuda, Rome, Cuisine of Corsica, Cistern of Aspar, Florestano Di Fausto, Gül Mosque, Rospigliosi family. I picked these at random, really. He has written, and in a friendly and collaborative way maintains, lots of high-quality articles. The nomination was seconded by User:L235 and User:Yash!.

Actually I`d have preferred this award to be coupled with that of the bunny of the month, but it does not matter, I am happy also to celebrate alone... :-) As kleine dankeschön, I am dedicating to all of you my freshly baked last article, with the secret hope that someone takes the burden of copyediting it (being an Italian, I am aware that this is not an easy task). Switzerland
Your explanation for reverting my edit ("Redundant statement removed: if is not in the EU, it is clear that does not use the euro." -- https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Switzerland&oldid=647584368&diff=prev) is not true. "The euro can also be found in other countries and regions which are neither part of the European Union nor the euro area.... Four such entities have adopted the euro as their official currency: the Principality of Monaco, the Republic of San Marino, the Vatican City State and lately also the Principality of Andorra." (source: http://ec.europa.eu/economy_finance/euro/world/outside_euro_area/index_en.htm) Therefor my statement is not redundant. Switzerland is similar to the countries mentioned above, in that it is geographically in Europe but not part of the EU, so one could be expected to wonder if it uses the Euro. I would appreciate if you would put back my work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tzadikv (talk • contribs) 02:12, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Article on Amatriciano sauce (or is it Amatriciana?)
Thank you so much for wrifing or editing the article on this sauce. I'm making a birthday dinner for a friend of mine, and I make a terrific sauce for angel hair... But i looked up Pecorino Romano, and found the above arficle. I had never heard of the sauce or guanciale (the meat)... Sorry if I am mis-spelling things, my Italian is poor, and it is almost 1am. I can't wait to try to make this now. I am not certain i will be able to find the meat, as I live in Sacramento, but I will search and try to create this. I also appreciated other articles you have written, not about food. But tonight, I really am happy you shared your knowledge with those Italian food lovers in the U.S. My family comes from Italy (&.Ireland... Do you think I might have been raised Catholic, and loving fresh Italian food???). Sorry... I'm rambling now... Just thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work. Take care.

VisualEditor update
- This note is only delivered to English Wikipedia subscribers of the visual editor's newsletter.
The location of the visual editor's preference has been changed from the "Beta" tab to the "Editing" section of your preferences on this wiki. The setting now says Temporarily disable the visual editor while it is in beta. This aligns en.wiki with almost all the other WMF wikis; it doesn’t mean the visual editor is complete, or that it is no longer “in beta phase” though.
This action has not changed anything else for editors: it still honours editors’ previous choices about having it on or off; logged-out users continue to only have access to wikitext; the “Edit” tab is still after the “Edit source” one. You can learn more at the visual editor’s talk page.
We don’t expect this to cause any glitches, but in case your account no longer has the settings that you want, please accept our apologies and correct it in the Editing tab of Special:Preferences. Thank you for your attention, Elitre (WMF) -16:32, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
A question :)
Hello Alex, long time no talk! How are you doing? I hope fine? I had a brief question I wondered whether you could help me with. Its regarding Teresia Sampsonia; she was born, raised, and lived for quite some time as a Christian in the Safavid Empire, but migrated later to Rome, where she settled in Trastevere and became a member of the Santa Maria della Scala (where she got buried as well).
My question is now; should the category "Iranian emigrants to Italy", or something alike? I think Rome was not under the rule of Italy back then, but perhaps you could tell me more about this. Or any other categories that I might have perhaps omitted? :-)

Mafia edit-war
Remember a while back we were discussing IPAs for foreign words? Well, the Mafia article was one case I was contending. There's this unregistered user with an Italian IP address who keeps putting the IPAs for mafia in the lede. This guy has now broken the 3-revert rule. You and I agreed that pizza did not need IPAs in the lede - would you not think the same for mafia? Please resolve this dispute for me.Kurzon (talk) 20:45, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

This is Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Pronunciation#Pronunciation_of_English_words_of_foreign_origin the thread on the manual of style, and I see that the discussion continued. Hello Alex2006, Thank you =) sorry if I seemed a bit sharp with you, only I have noticed that honest edits have been taken down by other Admins as of late and feel that I have been forced to justify myself to every edit I do, ALL of which are honest! But thank you, your re-edit is an improvement on what I had originally edited, not least the quattuorviri iuri dicundo which I forgotten to suggest. Can I only add that there are a few small grammatical errors that I can attend to, nothing big, only they do make the current edit a little clumsy, such as 'island was' rather than 'islands were' and 'preaching the Christian' rather than 'preaching there the Christian' is that OK? Azerbaijan
Currently, you are deleting the list of resources, and linkes and evidences provided to you. I offered the list of of ancient scholars such Strabo etc.
Your refuse to admit the facts so you must explain in details why. The original presented theory on the etymology of Azerbaijan is incomplete. Substantial change from Atropatene to Azerbaijan through indicated path is impossible, unless there is some form of dyslexia. Therefore, I provided all possible variants based on historical evidences with respect the etymology, to provide the reader with option to choose and investigate, if such is required. Freedom of choice source of further discussion rather disruptive deletion of information.
I would gladly discuss it but I need to public view it first. Most of information is based on historical data. Unfortunately, some trolling ID deliberately deleting the information, hence violating the freedom of speech act. basic part of Human Right Act. I presume Wikipedia is about freedom of speech rather propaganda by people who control it.
It doesn’t matter who was deleting. The fact is it is deleted, and nobody done anything to restore justice. Apparently, Wikipedia team doesn’t believe in free speech. Obviously, you created the online world where you can run your own tiranny and oppression.
Azerbaijan is a visit card of citizens of Republic of Azerbaijan. I don’t think anyone with Persian, Armenian or Russian backgrounds have priority in updating that page, neither you or someone called LouiseArgon. You know nothing about Azerbaijan, and first of all you are experts.
You are wondering why? Well, Iran have occupied a half of Azerbaijan. Certainly, the Persians have no interest in promoting Azerbaijani culture, history or tradition. All they say that any etymon in Azerbaijan derived from Old Persian (nobody even knows what is Old Persian). The Persians have created tyrannical Islamic regime, with no respect to other cultures. Same applies to Republic of Armenia, and Russian Federation.
You can block my account. It is not like I do care. I don’t like people who have no respect to Freedom of Speech, or Human Rights Act. You were acting like monkeys in zoo, when they see a new object in their cage. The speed you were deleting my comments, I can only say that you have no personal life. All you do it is just sitting in front of monitor and … .
Funny part is that I have not deleted the previous text, just added new paragraphs to previous text. I have respect to work done. But you guys, really far from the concept of civilization, all you care about is to delete or perhaps even burn and torture if we were living in same country.
My comments hurt? Well, be my guest block or even close my account. I am sure your Little Tyrannical Egos will be satisfied after that.

Edit on Dimitrie Cantemir
My edit is correct because at the time of D. Cantemir's rule, the state Romania did not yet exist! There was the Principality of Wallachia, also known as Țara Românească (literally - Romanian Land), but at that time, it was a separate state from Moldavia. In 1859, it unified itself with western Moldavia (because the eastern part - now known as Bessarabia - got annexed by the Russian Empire following the 1812 Bucharest Peace Treaty between the Russians and the Ottomans) into the United Principalities. In 1881 the Principalities became the Kingdom of Romania under Carol I. In 1918 the Kingdom annexed Bessarabia following the Russian Revolution, then Bukovina, then Transylvania. After WWII, the Kingdom became the Socialist Republic of Romania, and finally, after the democratic revolution of 1989 - Romania. Another reason why my edit is correct is because nationality refers to a person's legal identity within a state, whereas a person's ethnicity refers to their genetic/ sub-racial/ etc. make-up. Therefore, even if Cantemir was ethnically a Romanian (declared thus post-factum by the way), nationality-wise, he was Moldovan/ Moldavian. So please, bring back my edit. Thank you!--92.114.148.141 (talk) 14:43, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for writing! I answered on your talk page. Alex2006 (talk) 14:51, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- Yes. To answer your question - the existence of a Moldovan ethnicity it's a mater of dispute. The main problem here is the ethnonym "Romanian" - nobody knows for certain where it came from, but most people say it's a tribute to the Roman ancestors. You see, originally, the region that is now Romania and Moldova was inhabited by the Dacians - whom researches identify as either Thracians, or a mix between the latter and the Goths, Celts, Scythians, and the Getae. Dacia itself was founded in the 1st century BC, got conquered by the Romans in the 1st century AD, and existed for almost another century as a province, then the Romans retreated. Mentions of the Dacians disappear completely in around the 3rd century. Still, the part of Dacia that later became Moldavia was not included into the Roman province, so one can already assume that the locals developed differently from the conquered Dacians, who intermingled with the Romans, both culturally and ethnically. The countries Moldavia and Wallachia were founded in around the 13/14 century, so obviously there was a lot migration and intermingling between the inhabitants of the region (for example, the region was included in the Bulgar empire in around the 10th century; and there were Goths, Vikings, Tatars, Mongols, and Slavs both before and after that). And yet, for some reason, the inhabitants of what would later become Romania decided to call themselves Romanians not in honor of their Dacian ancestors, but in honor of their conquers - the Romans. Why they decided this, and when, is never explained. But that's how the official story goes. Looking at the origin of the Moldovan ethnicity from a contemporary perspective, many say that it was the Soviets who created it - politically - and that in fact, there's no such thing. So, it is a difficult question to answer, there's a lot of political influence coming both from Romania (who's trying to keep its people and provinces together) and from Russia (who has political interests in the region), and nearly not enough factual, historical data. So, is it all that important to have his nationality stated? Not even the Romanian wiki page has that :D --92.114.148.141 (talk) 16:13, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

Grazie, e buon anno!!!!Trinacrialucente (talk) 21:27, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
Use of Wiki Guidelines for Manual of Style/Dates and Numbers: Era Style
Dear Alessandro,
I received a message from you asking that I refrain from making changes in era style (BC/AD vs. BCE/CE). Your request referred me to the Wiki Manual of Style/Dates and Numbers: Era style. In deference to your request, I read through the guidelines, and respectfully refer you back to these points:
"...represented by BC and AD), or the Common Era (represented by BCE and CE."
"Do not change the established era style in an article unless there are reasons specific to its content."
"In general, do not use CE or AD unless required to avoid ambiguity"
"BCE and CE or BC and AD are written in upper case, unspaced, without a period (full point, .), and separated from the year number by a space (5 BC, not 5BC). It is advisable to use a non-breaking space."
The Wiki article under discussion is an outline of the history of the Colosseum of Rome, including a bit about what preceded and followed the construction. I arrived upon it and was frustrated by the messy annotations in use of era style. That Rome at the time was not Judeo-Christian, but a city dedicated to the Pantheon of Dii Consentes is interesting, but beside the point I'm making for the use of the scholarly era style BCE/CE. The article is based on scholarly work, and merits the use of scholarly era style. (A third of data cited from Catholic sources is not a valid reason for use of BC/AD). Any article merits a clean and consistent era style.
This is a article written as a scholarly work: this is why it is significant and very important to give the reading about the Colosseum in terms of BCE/CE.
My initial alterations were as minimal as possible. In reading the Wiki MLA there are new pieces of information that I will be guided by in all future edits, particularly in terms of consistency of effort. My initial changes were, as I see now, a bit of editorial fiddling. I'll make a few further final edits to ensure best accuracy, and outline the reasons why in the query section of the edits box.
My authority comes from a profession in editing collegiate textbooks (science, not history). I apologise for not being thorough in my first edit, and offer thanks for directing me to the Wiki MS/DN.
Best, Alias
Post Script - Your message came almost immediately after I wrote my alteration. I followed the link to your page with a sort of "out of office" sign with a heart-shaped French flag. I do hope that you're well, and to continue this discussion in mutual good health. [1]

Hello, Alessandro! Have you managed to procure the photograph we discussed? I am thinking about nominating the article for GA, and the image of her tomb would improve the quality of the article immensely - thus my eagerness for your help :D Surtsicna (talk) 18:22, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Philadelphion edit
If someone is looking for information about the Philadelphion, he will know that Constantinople is today's Istanbul, and if he does not know that, then his knowledge level is so rudimentary that he will need to read the Constantinople article anyway. Come on, we can expect people to know about Rome, Constantinople and Athens when discussing ancient history.
It is a matter of consistency: If you write "(today's Istanbul)" in every single article where you refer to Constantinople, then you will have to do the same as well with every other city that was Greek until Turks or Slavs or Visitgoths or Lombards or Arabs or Persians or whoever conquered it. That is not being done, hence it follows that it should not either here.
It is totally superfluous information, and the kind of stuff that annoys and takes up space. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.156.126.230 (talk) 15:32, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hallo, and thanks for writing! Actually I lose some of my time here reverting Greek and Turkish POV-warriors who are changing Istanbul to Constantinople and vice~versa. That's why I am always verx careful about removing this info, although I concede that most of the readers knows it. Anyway, after a careful examination of the history of this article, I could see that the POV-warrior in this case was me, ;-) so I think that I can make an exception and revert myself. ;-) Bye, Alex2006 (talk) 16:08, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

Constantinople - Istanbul
I suppose the policy is Constantinople prior to 1453, and Istanbul after? That would be logical. Or to put it in another fashion: 'Constantinople' is not to be given precedence in any article relating to post-1453 subjects relating to the city, and 'Istanbul' is not to be written in any article relating to pre-1453 subjects relating to the city? Really the Greeks should stop editing Wikipedia and get about conquering back their city if they want reality to be changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.156.126.230 (talk)
- No, the policy, which was established long, long time ago, before I came here, ;-) is: use Costantinople for context dealing for happenings occurred before the Republic (roughly), and Istanbul afterwards. The reason behind that is that the common name in English (and not only: the same applies for German, Italian, etc.) for the City before the establishment of the Republic is Constantinople, not Istanbul. This decision came not from the Greeks, but mainly from English speaking users. Alex2006 (talk) 07:12, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

Hello, I'm User:Worldandhistory. Your recent edit to the page Mahidevran Gülbahar appears to have removed sourced information, so I reverted your move for now. If you believe the information was correct, please cite a reliable source that proves the "interview" was fake, or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. The changes you made can be seen in this edit. Thanks. —Preceding undated comment added 14:42, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
Regarding the Palazzo Rusticucci-Accoramboni
Hey Alex, how are you doing mate? As you have seen, the reviewer has started reviewing this article which you almost entirely made to the state it is nowadays by yourself. When I stumbled upon it, I just thought it had to be nominated straight away. I see you have adressed some of the first points already which needed to be adressed, great job. The reviewer has just updated the page with additional points (you might have already seen them, I think).[9] Unfortunately Im still very busy irl, and therefore I wont be able to make any significant contributions to Wiki. Just wanted to let you know, as it would really be a spoil if it would fail the GA nomination simply due to us failing to finish it within the deadline.
