Orphaned non-free media (File:SW7 Initial Logo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:SW7 Initial Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:12, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced Material

[edit]

The fact that other articles have unreferenced material is not really an excuse for allowing an article to contain unreferenced material. Wikipedia's policy is that for unreferenced material to be removed immediately from articles regarding living people or anything potentially libelous. For everything else we should try to improve first by locating references- If a reference cannot be found the information has to be removed from the article as there is no way to verify it is correct -it could be horrendously inaccurate or completely wrong for all anyone knows.

I will take a look at the other articles you mention and see what unsubstantiated material is in them. But I'm afraid ultimately if things can't be verified with references, it will be removed sooner or later.

WikiProject Amusement Park Newsletter Special (July 2013)

[edit]

Hello-

I am working with the East Grand Rapids or EGR MI Public Library as they embark on a GLAM project. We are planning an edit-a-thon for October 19 in the afternoon, to improve Ramona Park.

East Grand Rapids was the home to Ramona Park and to the Jack Rabbit Derby Racer [1]. The Library is home to a local history room - a room filled to the ceiling with memorabilia, photos and artifacts from Ramona Park.

The plan is to upload some of this material via Commons (hopefully before the edit-a-thon - coincidentally during Wikipedia Loves Libraries month), and improve the EGR related articles.

One problem - there are few locally evident Wikipedia editors to actually show up at the library for an edit-a-thon.

If this is of interest, we can make arrangements for you to remote in. There is a possibility of a cool tee-shirt [2] donated by the library, too!

The library might be able to provide you/this project with a preview of the historical materials - it seems to me there might be more than one article to create.

Also I've come up with a DYK candidate: Did you know that President Gerald Ford worked at Ramona Park, home to one of three derby racers in the US? (The Ford part is true, not quite sure of the derby racer stat, though!)

Thanks for your consideration, Bdcousineau (talk) 00:24, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Ollie Banks vs Stamford AFC.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ollie Banks vs Stamford AFC.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 08:11, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use of File:Ollie Banks vs Stamford AFC.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Ollie Banks vs Stamford AFC.jpg. However, there is a concern that the use of the image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Details of this problem, and which specific criteria that the image may not meet, can be obtained by going to the image description page. If you feel that this image does meet those criteria, please place a note on the image description or talk page explaining why. Do not remove the {{di-fails NFCC}} tag itself.

An administrator will review this file within a few days, and having considered the opinions placed on the image page, may delete it in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion or remove the tag entirely. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:09, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

if it's your photo why did you upload it with a non free use rationale rather than under a free licence? NtheP (talk) 20:15, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't aware that I had to licence it as free. I'll change it then. Aadams (talk)
Never mind, I've reuploaded it under a free licence, so the other one can be deleted. Aadams (talk)
OK, sorted, thanks for the new upload. NtheP (talk) 18:05, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Amusement Parks Article Clean-Up

[edit]

Recently, an issue has been brought up regarding the notability of many articles within WikiProject Amusement Parks. As a result, a page has been created regarding this issue as well as a possible solution (which will be on-going). In a nut-shell, certain articles will be picked to be reviewed in each stage and the WikiProject members (you) will decide if the article should be deleted or kept based on Wikipedia's notability guidelines.

I hoping this will work and if it doesn't, oh well...I tried.

More info can be found on the linked page above.--MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:27, 21 March 2014 (UTC) Sent by Dom497[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Taiga Linnanmäki.jpg. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reviving Operation B&M

[edit]

Hey! I'm an amusement park/roller coaster lover and I've been working on various articles about them. This project in particular, Operation B&M, has seemingly been abandoned for about a decade now and I'd like to rescue it. I'm finding active users (particularly those with interests in park/coaster articles) who may be interested in helping out. No worries if you aren't interested!
