    Requests for rollback

    Rollback

    [edit]

after 2 years I got alot of editing, wanna test another experience. thanks QalasQalas (talk) 00:15, 13 February 2025 (UTC)

@QalasQalas: what would you use rollback for? —Femke 🐦 (talk) 15:28, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
AntiVandalism as you see this Edit and Edit2 new users vandlized account which why i need roll thanks. QalasQalas (talk) 17:24, 16 February 2025 (UTC)

I've previously requested rollback twice but I'm here a third time to ask once again. I think rollback would be much easier in loads of situations. I patrol certain pages and help maintain others, and I've had the experience of needing to revert numerous edits but since I do not have the rollback feature I have had to manually revert the changes, which take up too much time and are quit time consuming, not to mention tedious. So I am here once again to request rollback in order to revert vandalism, unconstructive edits or misinformation as well as other tid bits.      Not done You were blocked for edit warring just today, and rollback shouldn't be given to users with a recent history of edit warring given concerns of potential abuse. Fathoms Below (talk) 23:26, 23 February 2025 (UTC)

There have been too many times when multiple rounds of improper edits/vandalism on pages I follow have required individual reversions, so having the rollback permission would be useful. Coining (talk) 04:09, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

I mainly edit on pages related to sportscar racing, where unregistered users often edit multiple small things (often going against the page consensus at the time) in the span of a few minutes. This role would be particularly useful to be able to rollback these edits at once. I check my watchlist multiple times a day and I am quite active in general. Thanks for your time. SportscarFan2004 (talk) 09:40, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

I request rollback rights. I need rollback rights to more conveniently eliminate vandalism in English wiki. In addition, I have rollback rights on Russian wiki and I am also actively eliminating cross-wiki vandalism. I have read the rollback policy and am ready to follow it. I've been actively Recent Changes patrolling for a little over three months now. I've read WP:Rollback. I would like to try out Huggle for use in fighting vandalism, and I pledge to follow the rollback guidelines. I recognize that the primary use of rollback is to revert vandalism. Gelasin (talk) 21:29, 22 February 2025 (UTC)

Would like to obtain rollback rights to use AntiVandal, as patrolling recent changes traditionally can get unorganized with a massive amount of tabs very quickly. I have been patrolling recent changes for around 2 years. Parksfan1955 (talk) 10:15, 23 February 2025 (UTC)

I am continuously patrolling recent changes and fighting against anti-vandalism. I hope this right and the tools available with the permission will help me to do more anti-vandal work more effectively. I will not abuse this tool and use it civilly and won't do edit warring and 3RR violations. YuiFujimoto (talk) 16:51, 23 February 2025 (UTC)

I would like to request rollback rights to combat vandalism more effectively. I am an experienced recent changes, pending changes and new pages patroller. I do understand that the rollback should be used mainly for clear cases of vandalism. I am committed to using this tool responsibly. If granted this responsibility it will help me to boost my ability to combat vandalism and use of other important tools like AntiVandal and Huggle. 𝐌P𝛂n 𓃠 {✝alk} 17:18, 23 February 2025 (UTC)

I participate in Copyright Patrol using the CopyPatrol application. The workflow is largely manual, as I have to undo the user's copyright content and notify them. Many times, the process is even longer as I must manually remove their changes because of a conflict. Having rollback privileges would simplify this process greatly and allow me to more effectively prevent copyrighted content being added to Wikipedia.      Not done Please come back in a month's time, or ping my talk page. If you still think the tool would be helpful by then, it shouldn't be a problem. Just would like to see a bit more experience first. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 10:16, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

I am kindly requesting rollback permissions for myself, in order to revert vandalism using the Huggle tool. E6400 (talk) 14:24, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I requested for this right a few weeks ago, which MusikBot will flag up. The reason I was declined was mainly because I had not met the 200 mainspace edit threshold needed for my application to go through. A concern was also raised about one of my edits, saying that I had jumped to conclusions about an editor a bit quickly and had gone too fast with the warnings. I am now trying to be better at using the warning system more fairly and helpfully and I hope that I have addressed this concern. Most of my edits on Wikipedia have been fighting against vandalism and with this tool, I will be able to fight it more efficiently. ScrabbleTiles (talk) 15:27, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I have created 75+ articles, since I got autopatrolled mostly focusing on television series. For transparency, I'm still working on the feedback received from @Schwede66 in my last request. And I intent to keep doing the good work. Thanks for your consideration. Could you please point to where the date of birth of Gautam Vig is referenced, C1K98V? Schwede66 08:14, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi @Schwede66, I hope you enjoyed your vacation. I have sourced the DOB in the early life section as per WP:INFOBOXREF. I followed the editing style of Geniac, the way he improved Sheezan Khan and tried adapting the same. Thanks C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 08:48, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
Thanks, I had a fab wee holiday. I don't understand your answer. I see that there is one ref in the infobox, and that reference does confirm the date of birth, but it is attached to the spouse only. Could you please explain what you mean, and how the referencing confirms the date of birth, C1K98V? Schwede66 08:59, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
Schwede66 In the above mentioned article I have sourced the date of birth in the Early life section, see here. And the spouse's source is just about their marriage. I'm following the editing style of Geniac, the improvement he did in one of my previously created article see here. Thanks C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 09:38, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
Sorry, which reference states the date of Vig's date of birth? I cannot see it. Schwede66 18:29, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
Schwede66, I have used two sources for DOB, Colors TV and India Today. You can find both the sources in the Early life section. Hope it helps, if you still can't verify the birth date, you're most welcome to remove it. Thanks C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 18:50, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
@C1K98V Is it just me or the webpage you're linking to from colorstv.com is redirecting to a /mena/ directory making it impossible to see what you're talking about or citing. As for the indiatoday.in, you did not initially position the citation as of when Schwede66 started reviewing your request, you only repositioned the citation today. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 19:07, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi Vanderwaalforces, I'm not sure if the Colorstv website works outside of India. Let's wait for Schwede66 to confirm if they're able to verify it. I'm sharing a screenshot of the website for reference [3]. While searching for sources related to their academics, I found IndiaToday and added it later in the Early life section. I repositioned the named citation as I wanted to highlight it for Schwede66, so I left an edit summary too. Thanks for your consideration. C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 03:43, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) I can access the colorstv source and confirm that it mentions Gautam Vig's date of birth. – DreamRimmer (talk) 12:18, 20 January 2025 (UTC)

I know my first articles are... bad, but my recent pages, Yumeshima Station, Meitetsu KiHa 10 series, Meitetsu 3400 series, and Resignation services should be good without being patrolled. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 03:11, 10 February 2025 (UTC)

Hey, I been on the wikipedia for nearly 3 months and I have created around 30+ new mainspace articles, most of them are on natural disasters, archeological sites, geographical locations etc, I would like to request Autopatrolled rights permission for my account. My articles meets with the Wikipedia guidelines and policies and are properly cited with reliable souces, The list of articles started by me are on my userpage, None of which have been deleted and have been reviewed by other admins!

Reason for requesting -- I think getting this right would help to reduce workload for new articles, And would help me to give my best for wikipedia. Thanks! JesusisGreat7 (talk) 05:42, 25 February 2025 (UTC)

Not done Many of the 29 articles are very short stubs (Dunjkovec for example), and some of the created articles (such as the BLP Bajinder Singh) had sourcing issues that resulted in some cleanup that may have been missed if it were autopatrolled. The history section of the article 1880 Nainital landslide only has one source, an excerpt from a work of historical fiction. I think these articles should continue to be reviewed for the time being, which will not affect your ability to create articles. - Aoidh (talk) 06:10, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
Can I expect to get the right once these issues are fixed, I mean when the articles mentioned above gets reviewed?? JesusisGreat7 (talk) 06:26, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) Being auto-patrolled does not give you any technical ability; not even a single technical ability. I’m not sure you should be worried about becoming one for now, just focus on your work, do reasonably neat job, when you start to trouble our NPP queue by creating plenty of fine articles that we do not really need to look at as NPPers, someone like an NPPer could nominate you to become autopatrolled. Hope this helps. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 06:35, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
Thanks, I did a mistake requesting so early, I think I should continue to work normally JesusisGreat7 (talk) 06:41, 25 February 2025 (UTC)

Already done (automated response): This user already has the "autoconfirmed" user right. MusikBot talk 20:20, 25 February 2025 (UTC)

Reason for requesting confirmed rights: I will need the rights so I can attempt to make changes in semi-protected articles and I think my situation is a little different. After many years of use without contribution I've decided to contribute and take care of some outdated images and animations (I'm a 2D/3D Generalist). I do not plan to edit any other content, including text - unless it's necessary for some reason, like a description that has to be updated. I plan to start with English articles first, even though it's not my native language. I will just take care of the pictures, but I would have to make 10 of them, according to the rules I've read, and if the YouTube video I watched on the subject is right, I would have to do it in a quick succession (7 days according to "Wikipedia Basics" - "The Boring Voice" channel). It's not possible for me, I'm sorry. The plan is to take care of the most popular articles, but with very outdated images. They are stuck there because there are no free-to-use alternatives or nobody cares enough to update them. I would like to replace them with custom made images released for free for everyone via Wikimedia. I'm somewhat familiar with copyright laws and I understand some of the updates might not be welcome or rejected and that's okay. Images will still be available on Wikimedia in multiple sizes, formats and versions - depending on what is being done. Then I can try updating something else, but I need to be sure I'm somewhat ready to start and have a green light. I don't want to worry if what I'm working on is going to be rejected by an automated message. I also don't want to feel like I cheat and force myself to make 10 careless updates. I will get burnt out. I understand it's also a learning process and proof that someone understands the basics of coding, formatting and is not malicious (at least not yet), but I will do my best to research and test things before making any changes. Creating 3D renders takes time and I will also be limited by my tools and the resources I purchased, all with different licenses. I still have a lot to read and get familiar with, but it's okay. There is time. And I know this account looks fishy and I haven't logged in for 16 years, but the name change ticket went surprisingly well, even though I probably missed a few checkmarks. If for whatever reason this request has to be denied (and I know "the vast majority of requests here are denied" and I know about "WP:FFU"), then it's okay and I will do the next suggested thing ("Template:Edit semi-protected"). I'm happy the wall exists, but unhappy it has to. Thank you for your time. Czerniawskimc (talk) 21:28, 25 February 2025 (UTC)

I think I made a mistake and I was looking at those 10 changes the wrong way. They don't have to be big changes. I think I might have some expertise in certain subjects and I can contribute a little here and there, in unpopular but still outdated articles that don't require any special permissions to edit. Just look at the "3D_rendering" page, it's filled with pictures from 2005 and a lot of information is missing. I will try to contribute something there. I don't know if I can close this ticket, and I'm generally still open to getting "confirmed", but like I mentioned in my previous post - I know I have other solutions and I just realized I can just deal with it and simply follow the rules. I used the word "force" before, but nothing is forced here, nobody is forcing me to do anything and those changes don't have to be "careless", which is another stupid thing I said.
