Tom Hayes is a British Labour Party politician who was elected MP for Bournemouth East in the 2024 United Kingdom general election.

Hayes was councillor for St Clements ward on Oxford City Council from 2014 to 2024.[1] He was Deputy council Leader and zero carbon cabinet member in charge of the zero emission zone.[2] He stood down from this role in order to be a Labour candidate in the 2022 Stretford and Urmston by-election but was not shortlisted.[3]

In March 2023, he was selected as Labour's Prospective parliamentary candidate for Bournemouth East.[4] While campaigning in Moordown ward in the 2023 Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council election, Hayes was caught on a doorbell camera removing a Green Party election leaflet.[5] He won the seat, gaining it from the Conservative candidate Tobias Ellwood.[6]

He is openly LGBT+.[7]
