[edit]

Is there really not a better image available than the current, way off-centered image? I mean, a good 1/3 of the image is the window to somebody's back yard window, and it even cuts off the left side of the actual monitor showing the image... Sergecross73 msg me 19:06, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

We could probably easily get an actual screenshot of the level, if you feel like that is appropriate. I just really like making use of freely licensed images when possible. It also feels like it gives some form of real-world context, though that's purely a personal preference. The actual screen is indeed much too vague to say much about the level. Another de minimis image of this level is this, though I think it's far worse aesthetically. You think we should use an actual (non-free) screenshot? ~Mable (chat) 20:00, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Super Mario wiki has this image showing the whole level. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 02:54, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notes

Here are some notes I had from a 2015 draft I was making of this article, if any of the links can be useful:

"Super Mario Bros. just might be the canonical example of teaching players the rules of a game through careful level design. World 1-1 of the game has been dissected, analyzed, and critiqued by countless designers and enthusiasts alike, and even the game's creators — director Shigeru Miyamoto and designer (and Mario Maker producer) Takashi Tezuka — have spoken at length about what they tried to accomplish when they were laying out the Mushroom Kingdom's environments. Super Mario became one of the most influential games of all time not because it was the first side-scroller (it wasn't) but rather because its creators took the time to consider the best way to induct players into the elaborate, complex work they were creating." http://www.usgamer.net/articles/super-mario-makers-content-rollout-is-nintendos-design-discipline-in-action

Disambiguation

[edit]

Should a disambiguation page be made for World 1-1? There are so many levels called World 1-1, and it might be helpful to have a disambiguation page that links to the respective games if people were looking for those particular levels. Mister Apple (talk) 17:41, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is that this the only one with an article, and probably the only one deserving an article for the foreseeable future. There aren't many reliable sources singling out the first levels of other Mario games, and if there were, "Bob-omb Battlefield" is probably more likely to get its own article or section than, say, "World 1-1" from Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World. ~Mable (chat) 17:48, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS

[edit]

A nearly identical recreation of World 1-1 appears as World 1-1 of the Super Mario Challenge mode in Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS. Should this be added? Mariobros12345 (talk) 08:53, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Super Mario Maker=Video game series?

[edit]

Please tell me why you think it can't be confusing for lay people when this article claims that Super Mario Maker is a series but, at the same time, links to an article in which it is treated like a single video game.

A listing consisting of 2 entries without a forseeable new game as of now is far away from a list that is too long. It also won't be a "[...] list to maintain forever [...]", as it's definitely a video game series when there are at least 3 games sold under this name.

Even if you're right and "Super Mario Maker" can already be considered a video game series (I never said it's not, but you can definitely argue about it, as a video game series is sometimes defined as a row of games with more than one original game and another follow-up), it's still inconsistent with the current handling of the lemma "Super Mario Maker" within Wikipedia.-- Maxeto0910 (talk) 07:03, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This thread can be archived now, as the issue has been solved. For context: I was referring to this and this edit. Seems like my suggestion has prevailed after all. Maxeto0910 (talk) 09:10, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
