Copy protection
[edit]The copy protection of Wizard had an interesting feature. If it failed, it attempted to format (blank) the disk. One cause of failure is trying to load it on a third party (e.g. MSD) drive. The icing on the cake is that the disk naturally was not write-protected out of the box. (No, this didn't actually happen to me...but I witnessed Wizard trying to destroy itself - fortunately, the owner had applied a write-protect sticker). Mirror Vax 28 June 2005 10:03 (UTC)
- Maybe that is why the first copy of Wizard I played (pirated, natch) had the construction kit missing. It wasn't until many years later, when I contacted someone with an intact (also pirated) copy of the game, and was able to use the construction kit. It was disappointing to find that it couldn't add any "magical" properties to items. — JIP | Talk 10:32, 14 August 2005 (UTC)
Craig & Aaron didn't live in Dallas
[edit]- "Craig Smith and Aaron Hightower teamed up to make an improved construction set in their homes in Dallas, Texas."
They actually lived in North Richland Hills, a suburb of Ft. Worth. But I don't have any documentation to prove it; I just knew them at the time. Should I make the change?

Co-worker of Sean A. Moore at Progressive Peripherals and Software.
[edit]My name is Lane R. Ellis, and I worked at Progressive Peripherals and Software with Sean A. Moore. I remember Sean talking about Wizard from time to time, and wish I'd asked him more about his days writing the game. Rest in peace Sean.

Fair use rationale for Image:Wizard(game).gif
[edit]Image:Wizard(game).gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
