Question about Lead
[edit]According to Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Video games#Verb tense, a discontinued online game should be written in the past tense in an article. Considering that this is a MOBA, I believe that Paragon would fall into that category. Yes, Paragon still exists, and Epic is making their resources available to Unreal Engine developers, but it is currently unplayable in its current form (since the servers shut down), with Epic in the process of refunding players that bought the game. My question is, should the article be amended to past tense as I attempted to do here? In its current form, it's a mess between past and present tense. OhKayeSierra (talk) 15:09, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
- Pinging @Soetermans: since they reverted my original edit and would most likely be interested in the discussion. OhKayeSierra (talk) 15:11, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hi @OhKayeSierra, thanks for notifying me. If I recall correctly, there was a discussion at WT:VG a while ago but this sort of thing, but maybe I'm mistaken about the consensus. I'm on my phone, looking up the discussion is not easy. I'll try to look it up tomorrow. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 15:29, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
- As far as I am concerned, games that are no longer anyhow in circulation (gone-offline browser games, for example) or are multiplayer-centric games that are effectively unplayable due to all servers having shut down (which is the case for Paragon since last week), should be presented in past tense (it is no longer a game you can play, but it was). This is pointed out as such in the MoS guidline linked to above, and should be incorporated into the article. The only discussion I remember was that someone asked how games there were cancelled pre-launch should be handeled, as neither 'is' nor 'was' is correct (it never was a game you could play), and should as such be past speculative tense [forgot the proper term], as in "x would have been a first-person shooter". Links to Both Games
[edit]Since this site has seen some traffic and I don't know how to link things. I have posted both sites below to add to the External Links tab.

If someone could add these for me that'd be great! DjBasner (talk) 15:41, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- No, per WP:ELNO. We do not link to unofficial fan sites or efforts without some sort of reliable secondary coverage. -- ferret (talk) 17:09, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- Fan sites? They're both credible companies working on the same thing, unsure where you got that information from. What kind of coverage would be needed? DjBasner (talk) 04:07, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
- WP:SECONDARY sources, that is, independent of those companies and efforts, from reliable sources. WP:VG/S has a list of vetted sources as well as a custom google search for looking through them. -- ferret (talk) 13:11, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
