Minfeng CountyNiya County – Somebody renamed this article as of Chinese Pinyin, the correct name should be Niya County as it is in Google map Tarim116 (talk) 15:58, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. Niya is a historical place where the Uyghur people lived there for thousand years. Your Tianditu naming Kashgar as Kashi, so we need to change this name later also? Just check Google map instead Tianditu which is made in China. It's real that government websites using the Chinese spelling even for historical cities like Hotan and Kashgar as HetianHotan and Kashi as reported ban for Uyghur language Uyghur language1Uyghur language2Uyghur language3Uyghur language4, where is the respect for history and for the land? So please it is better keep it as Niya, Thanks.--Eynal (talk) 11:12, 9 August 2018 (UTC)Blocked sock of the editor who started the move discussion. Dekimasuよ! 12:33, 11 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Minfeng County (Chinese: 民丰县; pinyin: Mínfēng Xiàn) is a recent created county in 1945 the historical name of Niya (Chinese: 尼雅; pinyin: Níyǎ) of which the town currently still exists as Niya Town (Chinese: 尼雅镇; pinyin: Níyǎ Zhèn) which is still reflective of the historical endonym name. The two entities are vastly different in their Chinese name that why the county was kept in exonym Pinyin romanization, while the town kept the native endonym name even in Chinese. Yes, I know the Uyghur name are the same in both entities. Also the real reason is why Kashgar is known as Kashi today is because the Chinese government shorten the endonym name of Kashgar (Chinese: 喀什噶尔; pinyin: Kāshígǎ’ěr) to the current exonym name Kashi (Chinese: 喀什; pinyin: Kāshí) and no it does not need to be move to Kashi because the exonym English-language name of Kashgar is still widely used today just as the same reason Minfeng County doesn’t need to be move to Niya County (Chinese: 尼雅县; pinyin: Níyǎ Xiàn). Finally, I never said Hetian was the official romanized name it was always Hotan see Tianditu as well because they also list it as “Hotan” not “Hetian.” — ASDFGH (talk?) 12:11, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Niya County maybe was created as a county in 1945, but before that there was inhabitants. Kashgar is not short enough for Chinese map Tianditu? Chinese gave many new names for those places where the Uyghurs are majority and using the pinyin as Moyu, Hetian, Yecheng etc in government, even Xizang for Tibet in the government web site. Propaganda for eliminating their own. I love Niya and hope it can be Niya in Wikipedia.--KokBayraq (talk) 13:21, 9 August 2018 (UTC)Blocked sock of the editor who started the move discussion.
