DIscontinued?
[edit]Does anyone know if the DS Lite has been discontinued? Nintendo no longer lists it on their website and the DSi has been reduced in price to what the Lite was selling for. Windward1 (talk) 00:48, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
- Last time I looked there was nothing concrete. Most recent report says it's still being produced. Яehevkor ✉ 09:34, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
Empty 'Reception' section
[edit]Why is there a totally blank 'Reception' section. If no-body has anything worth putting here, why not just delete it until they do? It's just representing empty space as it is now, and certainly it's a bit redundant to highlight it with a generic 'This section needs expansion' note. MrZoolook (talk) 04:38, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
"while taking styling cues from"
[edit]I'd like to discuss the recent undoing of my edit. Cause, well, I don't agree with it. In the edit, I changed "while taking styling cues from the Game Boy Advance SP" to "while taking styling cues from the Game Boy Micro". A plain visual comparison shows that the DS draws heavily from the Game Boy Advance SP's aethetics, having the same dpad, button style, hinge type, plastic type, and even the same color of blue. The DS Lite on the other hand, draws from the Game Boy Micro. It has the same type of Dpad with white lines through it, white text on the buttons, sharp clean lines, on and on. I'll post some thumbnails below to make it easier for everyone to see the comparison. Ordered by release date left to right.
The stated reason is "Perhaps, but it's not about opinion, it's about what the sources say", but no references are given for this point in the description, and reading the nearest references discuss nothing about the visual qualities of the DS Lite. I believe the description element was based on opinion, so the correct response is either remove this bit as conjecture, or go with the plain-sense result: that the DS Lite borrows elements from the Game Boy Micro. - MaJoRoesch (talk) 02:48, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- I suppose I agree with you, but due to the lack of sources, all of this qualifies as WP:OR so there should be some discussion about what to really say and source... DarkToonLink (talk) 04:17, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yup. I should've been clearer, because I actually agree with you, MaJoRoesch. We need to find sources, however. The nearest source doesn't say either way, but it does talk about the DS and the Game Boy being parallel. Saying that one draws from another is a little bit strange to me, though, because they all came out in series. SP, DS, Micro, DS Light -it's almost self-apparent that they are going to be stylistically derived from their predecessors, and I think we need a source explicitly mentioning it before including it in the article. As DarkToonLink says, without sources, it's just original research. Grayfell (talk) 07:22, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, alright, I misunderstood. Glad we're all on the same page. Well, I looked all over. I found some interviews on the game boy micro and the ds lite, but none of them mention the aethetics (other than being smaller or whatever), and none of them tie themselves to eachother. So, unless someone else can find something, I say we just remove the line. Agree? - MaJoRoesch (talk) 09:51, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- Done and done. Grayfell (talk) 21:44, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Merger proposal
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- I'm closing this discussion as it wasn't opened with proper rationale and I've just blocked the original editor for CIR and disruption. If someone wishes to do this properly they are free to do so. -- ferret (talk) 15:57, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
I suggest that do you think this page be merged to the main Nintendo DS page. Also the Nintendo switch Lite page is also being merged Gladstonefan (talk) 00:54, 29 June 2023 (UTC)

- Oppose The DS Lite was arguably more impactful than the original DS design by far. One size does not fit all, and it's clear that the nomination is jumping on the bandwagon solely because the Switch Lite got merged without considering the individual situation, which is not how Wikipedia should be doing things. Simply throwing out policies like "overlap" is not convincing to me. The Switch Lite was a sidenote and does not have nearly the importance the DS Lite does, with the normal Switch getting the lion's share of sales. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 07:31, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
