Disclosure of potential conflict of interest
[edit]I am going to be doing some cleanup here, but I am hereby disclosing that I have an employment-related conflict of interest, and under WP:COI I seek uninvolved editor review of any and all changes I make here. If anyone feels I have made inappropriate edits or promoted Kabam in some inappropriate way, please feel free to say so here, undo changes on the article, notify me on my talk page, or all of the above... ESRB rating fiasco
[edit]How about a section on the ESRB's actions against Wartune, one of the games listed in the article? To summarize, Wartune was advertised as Adult Only 18+, including the ESRB's AO rating label - but was never actually rated by ESRB. (This is a copyright violation.) ESRB ordered them to stop. Incidentally, every ad I've seen for the game portrays it as almost erotica - but reviews seem to indicate that this is a blatant lie. 71.53.110.52 (talk) 03:42, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
Outdated and/or Incorrect Portrayal
[edit]At least several changes necessary in order to accurately portray the nature of Kabam's products.
First and foremost, the description "free to play" should be clarified, as the Kabam games are some of the most truly freemium applications alive. By "truly freemium" here it is meant that these games are not possible to play competitively without spending relatively large sums of money(i.e. ranging between hundreds to thousands USD).
The strategy game aspect of Kabam's games is enhanced by a casino faculty, inside of which users gamble using virtual currency purchased with actual money. While I'm happy to do the research in order to better-classify the Kabam MMO genre, vis a vis correct terminology and neologisms regarding the new breed of In-App Purchase(IAP)-based where IAPs no longer constitute microtransactions by definition, and I will do so at my earliest convenience unless someone who is already learned on this emerging topic is able to make this article's necessary adjustments.
We also need to collect citations for claims such as that Kabam focuses on "traditional MMO's" & other such undefined, unclear or misleading concept and jargon.
Should Kabam professionals see this, I hope they may join in to the revision of this page into a clean, accurate, neutral & verified up-to-date article on the company and its business model -- involving IAP of currency meant for virtual goods & for to overide the time-based currency dynamic at the heart of the Kabam MMO -- as of today and in neutrality; the truth is that Kabam's success is in large partiality correctly attributed to their unique & aggressive freemium model, and this is something that, while a potentially heated subject in some circles, can be written free of connotation so long as we have accurate and sufficient data, and level-headed contributors.
