Please take a look, and let us know if anyone has any suggestions or corrections. If a seasoned editor would prefer to implement it, they are welcome to do so. Intro

[edit]

Jesper Kyd Jakobsen (/ˈkɪd/[citation needed] (February 3rd, 1972), is a Danish born composer who has written the soundtracks for some of the most successful video games and notable film projects, such as the award winning dark fantasy film Tumbbad. He has composed soundtracks for the Hitman series, Assassin's Creed series, Borderlands series, Darksiders II, State of Decay Series, several Warhammer games such as the End Times Vermintide Series and Warhammer 40.000 Darktide among many others.  His scores use orchestra, choir, acoustic manipulations and electronic soundscapes.

Early years

[edit]

Kyd started playing the piano at an early age. Growing up, he took several years of classical guitar training, note reading, choir singing and classical composition for piano. However, he is mostly self-taught. Kyd started using computers for composing on a Commodore 64 at age 14, and later an Amiga 500. In their mid teens he and Mikael Balle became founding members of the demogroup Silents DK, based on an invitation from Silents Sweden. The members of Silents Sweden later founded the developer Digital Illusions (DICE). After a series of award winning demos, Kyd and Balle later started collaborating with a group of coders known as Crionics. They eventually made the Amiga Demoscene production Hardwired, which showcased Kyd/Balle’s design and music style mixed with the coding style of Crionics. Kyd also co-created and scored the first wild demo, Global Trash 2, together with Mikael Balle, which gave birth to the wild demo scene. Kyd and Mikael started putting on demo scene concerts and their debut concert was at The Party 2 in Denmark, at the time, one of the biggest demo scene events. These concerts did not include Kyd’s Amiga music but consisted of music made with analog synths, drum machines and samplers and featured custom made videos. Kyd then left the demoscene and started to work as a composer for video games. He co-founded the game developer Zyrinx together with members of Crionics and Silents DK and their first game Sub-Terrania was made for the Sega Genesis (Called Sega Megadrive in Europe) and published by Sega. Subterrania and later Red Zone was created with Amiga 4000 computers and Zyrinx used their own game engine and hardwired the Sega Genesis with a custom made system that allowed the team to program directly into the Genesis cpu via an Amiga. Zyrinx made a custom music program that could play back 6 channels of FM in 44hz quality which Jesper used to write his Genesis music. They also made many seemingly impossible things on the Sega Genesis such as rotating backgrounds and full motion video. After the sale of their debut game, the team relocated to Boston and later ended up in Los Angeles, where Kyd composed music for the Sega Genesis titles Red Zone, NitroWrecks (unreleased) and the Sega published game The Adventures of Batman and Robin developed by Clockwork Tortoise. Zyrinx then moved on to the Sega Genesis 32X and eventually the Sega Saturn where they released the Saturn/PC game Scorcher which features a Kyd soundtrack composed entirely with the Sega Saturn music system. This music approach allowed the developers to load graphics of the CD in real time, without CD based music interfering in the graphics streaming. Kyd’s next score, Amok by the developer Lemon, was his first, non chip-music soundtrack. It was a CD based score, created without the constraints of an internal music chip, freeing him up to use real instruments. The music would stream off the CD while the game was running. Zyrinx dissolved in 1998 when their game publisher Scavenger went bankrupt.

Here are a few points which I think need to be clarified before any further steps are considered.
  1. Thank you for disclosing the fact that you have a personal connection to the person you are writing about. However, please make a more explicit and complete statement of the nature of that connection, and try to make sure that you comply with Wikipedia's guideline on conflict of interest and, if your connection is a paid one, the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use relating to paid editing. One of the things which you will find is discouraged by the conflict of interest guideline is "[going] ahead and [updating] it in a couple of days" if you don't find anyone else who chooses to do so.
  2. You use the word "we". Who are "we", and do all of the people involved have access to editing with your account?
  3. Almost all of the information you have posted is unsourced. Wikipedia article content should be supported by citations to reliable sources independent of the subject of the article. Unless and until suitable citations are provided the information will not be suitable for adding to the article.
  4. Although the proposed text you have posted is not blatant spam, some of it is written in somewhat promotional language. For example, I am not sure that I have ever come across the word "showcase" used as a verb by anyone who is not trying to market or promote something. JBW (talk) 21:21, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now: The edit request has been marked as declined for the time being. It would be preferred to split the rewrite into seperate requests (like one for the lead and another one for early years). Remember that all information has to be sourced with citations to reliable sources. Don't add the information yourself but rather wait for your future requests to be responded to. You can see WP:COIREQ for further guidance. NotAGenious (talk) 09:08, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
