Requested move 26 August 2024

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: no consensus. Supporters argue that the article is just a list, opposers argue that it will become something other than a list and that it's too early. One supporter also agrees that it is a list as it stands, but could also be expanded, as such strong enough consensus was not found for or against a move. Ideally, this RM can occur again either once the article has been expanded, or after enough time that the "too soon" argument no longer applies.(closed by non-admin page mover) ASUKITE 14:28, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fortnite seasonal eventsList of Fortnite seasonal events – Let's call a spade a spade, there's no need for beating around the bush, this is an obvious list in table format. List-class articles should be named as such, for the most part it's not a prose explanation of the concept of seasonal events. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 21:35, 26 August 2024 (UTC) — Relisting.  ASUKITE 14:48, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose there is no requirement that a list article be called "list of". There is also potentially more prose that can be added regarding the seasonal system (it's history in terms of development). Masem (t) 21:44, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:LISTNAME, it says that "A common practice is to entitle list articles as List of ___ (for example List of Xs). If (as is often the case), the list has multiple columns and so is in layout table form, the name or title List of Xs is still preferable to Table of Xs or Comparison of Xs". This is a content guideline which means that "Editors should generally follow it, though exceptions may apply". There's no obvious or major exception in this case that would merit going outside typical naming conventions. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 22:12, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Though it still is only a guideline, not policy. There's still nothing to force a name change here. Masem (t) 12:32, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. If anything, the "list" here should be trimmed down to briefly summarize the plot and the collaborations. There is potential here to build a legitimate article about Fortnite's seasonal system, live events, and the impact of its many collaborations on those things. Ironically enough, I was just the other day wondering about if there was potential to create an article (or at least, some information somewhere) about the concept of a video game live event, and this seems to be the good place to do it. Ideally, the "list" here should only take up a small fraction of the article. I might be willing to do the cleanup I speak of right now at a later date. λ NegativeMP1 01:04, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This appears to be an argument predicated on a page that does not exist. Right now, it is an obvious list. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 07:43, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And it was only just moved out from the main Fortnite Battle Royale article a couple days ago, you're trying to rush a name change without giving it time to be improved. Masem (t) 12:32, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Support, though I'd be open to seeing the article expanded into something broader. If that happens, I'd probably support dropped the "List of" at a future date. As we don't have a WP:CRYSTALBALL, I think we should title it according to its current nature. Lewisguile (talk) 16:44, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
