Change the term from militant to terrorist Sam7297 (talk) 12:12, 16 March 2022 (UTC)

Adding arguments, as part of discussion to establish consensus. According to some articles, Definition of militant: Someone who funds terrorists and uses verbal violence. According to some articles, Definition of terrorist: Someone who engages in violence. However, according to Wikipedia, there is " no universal agreement about it" [1] Therefore, proving that he is a terrorist would be as vague as proving that he is a "he" and not a "she" (we do not have a genital check-up record but based on the images and so on we infer he is a male). Therefore, based on all the citations he does seem to classify as a terrorist [2] Someone who spreads terror. Thoughts? Aisheee (talk) 23:06, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
- Hello ScottishFinnishRadish still here? Aisheee (talk) 23:14, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
- Generally we don't use that label unless it is specifically used in a vast majority of sources. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 00:03, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- Sometimes it just feels that when the tide is not in their favor, the wiki admins just prefer to ignore rather than make changes they don't "like" :/ Welp. I tried to "discuss" Aisheee (talk) 17:11, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry for some reason your reply was not shown at the time when I wrote the above message. It was anyway a feeling in general not for a specific wiki admin. Finding sources to back up the tag (if I don't find, that means no change can be done anyway). thanks! Aisheee (talk) 18:00, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Hello. So here are some articles upon a search [3] [4] [5] Citation for definitions of militants vs terrorists [6]. The person killed by him, and the other people he claimed he killed, were civilians. Also, His case was handled as per Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act) (the judge added that the release after 16 years was due to the prosecution not showing interest in arguing the case and interviewing the witnesses [7][8]) Keeping all these in mind, he is a terrorist in all definition (reference= [9] Coincidentally and notably, this last reference also refers to him as "terrorist") Aisheee (talk) 19:46, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

- Mehrajmir13, this is silly. The source you cite was published practically yesterday (31 March 2022), while our content has been here for years. It is obvious that it is backwards copy.
- Nthep, can you please reinstate the revisions that have been revdel'ed? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 12:52, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Kautilya3 Had a deeper look and there is a long history of bits of this article appearing elsewhere but it does all look like a backwards copy in the end, so revisions restored. Nthep (talk) 14:02, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
kashmir genocide
[edit]He confessed of killing more than 20 people in kashmir genocide majority of which were kashmiri pandits 103.251.217.86 (talk) 19:50, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
No evidence
[edit]Other than the first killing of Satish Kumar Tikoo, for which there were apparaently eye witnesses, there is no evidence of his participation on any other killings. He was arrested in June 1990 and gave an interview to Newstrack soon afterwards while in custody. That is all we know about him. Two books that have extensive detail about the militancy, by Manoj Joshi and Arif Jamal, never even mention him. He is a non-entity as far as WP:RS are concerned. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 16:34, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
- It is worth listening to the Newstrack team as they present the story of the interview Reporting from Kashmir, Part 1 (starting 16:35). "

Farooq Ahmed Dar → Bitta Karate – Most of the references used in the article refer to the subject as Bitta Karate. Also per WP:AT Bitta Karate seems to be a better title and widely recognised. signed, 511KeV (talk) 04:54, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- Support per WP:COMMONNAME. Google Trends says Bitta Karate much more common. >>> Extorc.talk(); 10:08, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
Comment - a redirect is already in place but if that does not satisfy you people, then it should be renamed to Bitta Karate with a redirect from Farooq Ahmed Dar to Bitta Karate.-2402:8100:281C:4342:0:0:0:1 (talk) 19:51, 10 April 2022 (UTC)(Strike comment by block-evading sock ip. - Oppose absent firmer evidence; the google trends result is meaningless, as it's clearly driven by the release of the Kashmir Files. We need to look at usage in reliable sources, and the usage seems quite evenly divided. As such I would default to using his given name rather than an alias. Vanamonde (Talk) 18:21, 11 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose per above. Not seeing evidence of better title or "wide recognition". The current name is prevalent. Venkat TL (talk) 16:20, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
